Noticed a gradual shading on my iPhone

I notice that on a white background my iPhone gradually goes to a very light off white color. Hardly noticeable. Also the exact opposite of a dead pixel, a slightly brighter area.
Will Apple replace the iPhone with this problem?

well, they can send you a temporary phone while yours is being serviced.

  • Just noticed - Apple ID's different on iPhone and iPad

Hi everyone, I downloaded an app on my iPhone and noticed it wasn't available for download on my iPad.  When I checked, both devices were running different Apple ID's.  I want to share my apps across all my Apple devices, how can I rectify this - ideally I would like to merge both ID's into one but I have read this isn't possible?
    Thanks for reading

I don't think there is any way to merge them and all apps are tied to the ID with which they were purchased.  I think you should choose one ID (probably the one with the most attached apps) and always use it in the future.  You may have to repurchase some apps for the other device.

  • I have noticed that the images on the iPhone 6 look painted because of the new image stabilization. Can we have the option to turn it off?

I like the new iPhone, but the images are starting to concern me.  I am an iPhone Photographer, and I use my iPhone everyday to capture memories and create art.  I am use to zooming into an image if I want to eliminate unwanted scenery or objects.  Can we have the option to turn off the Stabilization feature on our iphones?

This is not Apple.  We are users like you.  If you want to contact Apple:

Yes, it does appear that you're on a shared plan. You're sharing the data.
Contact your carrier. Ask them to review your bill and see what plans might be a better value for your needs. Most carriers have analysis tools that allow them to look at your usage and figure out what plans would be better for you. Also, if you've been a customer for a long time and are out of contract, some of them will offer you special "loyalty" plans if you explain the service is too expensive and you may need to cancel. Remember, be polite to the customer service rep. It goes a long way.
Drop the insurance. Cancel the Ringback tones.

  • I just recently noticed at the bottom of my iPhone 4 I am missing one of my screws. The downfall is my 1 year warranty ended about a month ago, will they still replace it or trade in?

I need to know if apple will still help me out on my missing screw even though my warranty is expired

I scarcely think a missing screw warrants a replacement phone. Ask you local Apple store, if you have one. They can probably spare a screw.

  • Anyone else notice iPhone 5's lens cover is uneven or tilted?

I received my pre-order black iPhone 5 on launch day (9/21/2012). I love it!
However, I noticed that when I pull the iPhone 5 out of my pocket there is often lint sticking out of the lens cover for the iSight on the back.
This morning upon closer inspection, I noticed that the lens cover is slightly tilted downwards.
It is visible to the eye, but it is especially noticeable when you run a finger across it.
I notice that the top of the lens cover is completely flush while the bottom is slightly less than flush. It is tilted inward, below the surrounding glass.
Does anyone else notice this? Is it perhaps just how it is designed?

I went to a Genius Bar appointment and after waiting 45 minutes a genius replaced my iPhone 5. In fact he replaced another one at the same time. He handled both of our cases simultaneously with an iPad away from the Genius Bar.
I'm happy with my replacement. He said it was a brand new phone, not a refurb. However, I inspected the replacement iPhone in store and I found a knick in the beveled edge and a scrape about 1cm long on the side of the iPhone. I decided that I'd rather have a couple of scrapes than a recessed camera lens. Once I got home and had it under better light I found dust under the lens. So overall I'm disappointed but I'm 99% satisfied with my device and its not worth the hassle to get a another replacement. I think there are definite quality control issues with the new iPhone, though.

  • IPhone 4 voice call problems on 3G

I noticed at the weekend that my iPhone 4 was having trouble with voice calls. Incoming calls would sometimes hang up when I answered them, outgoing calls would take a very long time to connect (or freeze), and when I did get through to someone the call quality was extremely low (lots of stuttering and cutting out).
After trying just about everything recommended on various help pages (including reseating the sim card, refreshing the network settings, and restoring the phone), I still could not get it to work properly. I then tried turning off the 3G and, lo and behold, the phone worked absolutely fine! Voice calls were clearer than ever!
I contacted Tesco Mobile hoping they might be able to shed some light. They said there are no faults with the network and have arranged for me to return my phone. That could take up to 10 days though, which I can't really afford.
Does anyone know what the problem is here? Does the fact that it works fine with 3G disabled suggest that it is not a hardware problem?

I've been having a very similar issue that just started last night. I keep dropping calls and when I try to call out nothing happens at all. I cannot browse Safari through 3G either. It keeps coming and going. I was able to finally place a call out and then tried making another call later and it wouldn't work again. I tried the restore as well and nothing works!
I do not know if I should contact AT&T or Apple for the issue. I do have the extended warranty that I purchased with the phone but about a week after I got the iPhone 4 I had to have it replaced for issues I am not even sure that they would replace it again. I do not have a home phone I rely solely on my cell so I cannot wait to have it fixed or replaced but I am not going to keep a phone that doesn't work especially after paying so much for it!

  • Iphone 3g call quality

when I am talking to someone on my iphone 3g, if they speak up loud or a syllable is pronounced louder there voice distorts/crackles on my end. This happens no matter what the volume level is on the iphone and it happens in both handset and heaphones.
Anyone else having this problem? I did not notice this with my first generation iphone.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello from Italy,
same problem here. Audio crackling during call using headphones and phone speaker and :
    - it's not a high volume level problem
    - it's not a problem of headphone
    - it's not a problem of built-in speaker
I had this problem since day one. I think that's a carrier related problem that should be fixed with a firmware release.

  • My iPhone 6+ keeps rebooting after installing iOS 8.3

I have a 128Gb iPhone 6+. When I downloaded and installed iOS 8.3 via WIFI, it went through the usual download sequence and then started continually rebooting. After about 20 or so reboots, I got a white screen with a carrier signal on the top left, a location icon and a grayed-out bluetooth icon and the battery level indicator on the top right, and a curious "information" icon (a letter "i" in a circle) at the bottom right of the screen.
I tried tapping on the "i" but got no response. Then the iPhone went into the reboot cycle again. After several reboot cycles, I got the same white screen again. Then the iPhone again started rebooting and hasn't stopped.
My iPhone 6+ has been problematic since I installed iOS 8.1.2. Several random reboots (about 4 cycles, before the iPhone returned to "normal") and some other issues that I didn't document.
I brought the iPhone to the nearest authorized Apple repair center. They said that they could not find any problem and neither could they duplicate the issue I experienced. They recommended that the next time reboots happened that I should make a video of the error. Also, they recommended that I keep all of the apps updated (which I conscientiously do). So I decided to make a log of all the errors since the iPhone was returned to me.
Here are the entries to my log:
    iPhone 6+ Errors since March 30, 2015

  • Why can't my Macbook Pro connect to iPhone 5 in any way (lightning cable, Wi-Fi)?

I have a Macbook Pro, I bought it in June or July or 2011, so I'm not sure which model that makes it. But anyway, just recently, I noticed that when I plug my iPhone 5 into it, it does not recognize or acknowledge that my phone is plugged in at all. It doesn't show up in iTunes, or anywhere else for that matter. I've also noticed that with the lightning cable, it will only charge my phone on one side. I've tried plugging my cable into both usb ports, but still, the lightning cable only works on one side. I tried another cable, same thing, but when I plug both of them into my wall charger, both sides work fine.
So after my Macbook didn't recognize the phone through the cable, I just thought "eh, whatever, I'll wirelessly sync it." So I go to the settings on my phone, go to iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, and it says "Sync will resume when "Austin *****'s MacBook Pro is available." but no matter what I do, the computer never becomes available. I've considered that it might be the phone that's the problem, because I don't have another computer to test it on, but I don't see how it could as I just got this iPhone 5 just over a month ago, and it has not been dropped, or gotten water on it or anything. If anyone can help that would be amazing, as the employees at the Apple Store like to always tell me I have to buy something new, and that isn't an option right now.

    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Itunes 11.1.3.8 sync problems with iphone 5 - help?

I have an iPhone 5 and I am using itunes 11.1.3.8.
I noticed that a few CDs I recently imported were not syncing onto my iphone.  After a few tries at syncing, I noticed that under the 'On this iPhone' section the songs from these CDs were listed but were faded and had grey dotted circles next to them.  A few more syncs later and now pretty much all my music content has disappeared from my iPhone.  Every single song that I had before is still in my music folder on the iphone, but if you try to play any they just fade and come up with a red download circle and a stop button and the player skips through load of songs until it get to one that is still saved on my iphone.  I had about 1100 songs before and although all of them are still in my music folder, the only ones still working are about 40 that are in a playlist I created and a few videos and songs that I never had on my iphone before because they were unticked in my itunes library but have suddenly synced onto my iphone.  I had about 3gb free space before, when I sync it lists correctly how much should be there, but then it does a very quick sync and goes to having 7.5gb free.  Incidentally, even though only 40 of the 1100 songs are working, in settings it says there are about 840 songs on my iphone.  Even though the music has been the only real thing affected, the data on one of my apps has completely disappeared.
I have scoured the internet and nothing seems to help.  I have tried to deselect all my music so it is all removed from my iphone but when I sync it just goes back to the same thing.  I can't restore it to a previous backup because the only backups remaining are ones after this occurred.  I have tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.  I have tried reinstalling itunes.  I have deleted itunes and reinstalled it again.  I have signed out of my itunes store account.  I have tried manually selecting songs but it wont allow me.  I have tried unselecting the tick box saying 'only sync songs ticked'.  I have deleted all my temporary files on my computer and cleaned out the registry.  I have turned my computer off and on.
I have a feeling it may be somethign dodgy with itunes 11.1.3.8.  I only downloaded this update within the last two weeks.  It synced once before and synced earlier on today without these problems occuring apart from the recent CD imports syncing.  The only difference today is that I added a £15 gift voucher to my itunes account and bought a song.  When I bought the song, I did so through a cashback website.  When I clicked through from the cashback website, itunes wa already open, and it seemed to refresh when I did this.  Incidentally, this song is one of the few still in my iphone and working.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks

Thanks, I read the info, but it does not mention the IOS version.
Are you using yourself this combo of software?
Background: In The Netherlands I am getting the info on an Apple User group that there would be no iTunes Sync possiblity anymore with the intro of IOS7, which I cannot imagine, or at least don't hope so. They say that IOS7 does not have those sync possibilities anymore, so I would be forced to use iCloud.

  • How can I put back my iPhone as a device in View My Account iTunes in the Cloud Manage Devices?

I went into this list and noticed that I had my old iPhone 3Gs and my new iPhone 5s listed as devices. I also had 2 PC's listed.  So there were 4 devices associated wih my Apple ID.  Here is a little background.  When setting up my new phone, I had mistakenly given the new phone the identical name as my old iPhone 3GS, then realized that was a mistake because it would be hard to differentiate between the 2 phones in lists (for example: Restore backup lists is a very good example).  So I changed the name of my new phone so it would be different.
My old phone was called Bruce's iPhone and my new iPhone was called Bruce's 5s.  Even though I had changed the name of my new phone, the list of devices under View My Account > iTunes in the Cloud > Manage Devices had the 2 phones still listed with the same name, Bruce's iPhone.  I was able to tell the difference by the date the devices were established, but I did not like that.
So I used the 'Remove' button and deleted the listing for the newer listing of Bruce's iPhone.   Now, no matter what I try I can not get that new name and that device to get back on the list.  There are now 3 devices only.
Since I did this, I have developed the issue where when I sync, the system hangs on Step 7 of the Sync, "Waiting for changes to be applied". I stopped it after 3+ hours.  Then I restored my most recent backup (to the Cloud) and the next Sync worked.  I have no idea if the above action on my part is in any way connected to my developing the syncing issue.
Does anyone know how I can get that device, my new iPhone 5s, called Bruce's 5s back on this list of devices?  I seem to be able to do all the actions I want to with the devicer and my Apple ID.  But the coincidence of the above change that I ran into didn't make me smile either.
Thanks in advance for any input/help?
    Bruce - obviously

When I plug in my iPhone 5 w/OS 8.1.2 and try to sync. w/iTunes 12.0.1 it crashes. Any fixes?

I noticed this problem, iTunes displayed my iphone, but crashed soon after, with the color spinning wheel.
I did the following things and it worked for me.
I downloaded the last version of itunes, remove iTunes.app with CleanApp, and all these files.
    /Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bun dle
    /System/Library/Extensions/AppleMobileDevice.kext

    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DeviceLink.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iTunesAccess.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
I restarted, installed iTunes, restarted again and I was able to sync again.

  • Just canceled iphone 6, beware of Verizon Trade in program.  Regret it all.

Today has been the 2 week mark since I first used Verizon's trade in program.  I canceled my sprint ( $100 ETF ) and decided to move over to Verizon since they were offering a $200 Gift Card if I traded in my Iphone 5.  Sounded like a great deal, and I went ahead and switched over and got a new Iphone 6 from Verizon.
Fast forward 2 weeks later to today, I noticed an email saying my device had not been received.  I decided to go online and chat with a woman who informed me that the email was automated, but I should wait at least 6 weeks.  6 weeks is not an acceptable time frame in my opinion, so I told her I would cancel my service if they can not at least locate my phone.  They were unable to locate my phone, and claim is still has not been received.
I looked around the forums here, and low and behold a number of users are claiming they sent in perfectly working devices only to be given a $36 Gift Card because of a cracked screen.   They are unable to locate the phones for tons of users, and this really worries me.  She also let me know that there is no tracking number whatsoever on the package.  As a consumer, I find this completely unacceptable.
Hoping they could offer further help, I went to my local Verizon store here in Battle Creek, MI.  I informed the manager Cam that I was planning on returning the phone because I feel that my trade in was being mishandled and pointed him to the forums where users were complaining about the program.  While talking with Cam I noticed a couple checking out the Iphones, and the Verizon rep in the store, who was a very nice gentelman was explaining the trade in program.  I could not help myself from saying out loud not to trust the brown envelope that they give you since there is no tracking and I believe my phone was possibly lost or stolen and that I would not receive any credits.
Cam immediately told me to leave, threatened to call the police and told me that I was soliciting.  I explained to Cam that I was here for a return, not to solicit a sale of any kind and that I too was a Verizon customer and was only sharing information on the trade in from my experience with other fellow Verizon customers.  He asked me not to say it again or he would call the police, so I childishly said brown bag a few times before quietly waiting to be helped.  The return was processed after this, and I argued the $35 activation fee be removed from my account and I also argued the $35 restocking fee because they did not hold up their end of the trade in deal.
I realize that I am being fairly impatient here, with it only being 2 weeks and I did overreact a little after the police were threatened.  I do however lack any sympathy for Verizon not being able to process these trades in a timely manner.  They knew well ahead of time that the Iphone 6 was going to cause a ton of trade ins and they could have been more readily prepared.
After I returned home, I got online and spoke to Zach from Verizon who I tried a second time to have the activation and restocking fee returned to me.  He told me that it was fair charge and would not be removed so I gave in and agreed that it was my fee to pay.  I want to share a few excerpts with my chat with Zach because although he is a Verizon employee, he admited to me the faults of the trade in system.
Visitor: At least just the activation should be waived, since I was paying to activate a phone I had for 2 years, not 2 weeks.
Zach: Well those fees are valid charges  so they're not something I can waive. The activation fee is for new line activation and that?s waived if returned within 3 days but your paying for a line of service to be activated.... which it was. As far as the restocking fee goes that charge is to recoup some of the costs that we incur because you've returned that device. That phone can no longer be sold as new because it's been opened and used and since you returned that for a full refund of the purchase amount we end up losing money on that return so that $35 fee is assessed. None of these fees were charged in error. I'm sorry that this was the decision that you felt you had to come to especially when this would have ended up with you getting the credit for that trade in within a couple of weeks.
Zach: We could have helped you research that submission and work with the trade in center to find your device but you made the decision to go ahead and cancel service and return the phone so that limits what we could have done in that case since it's already been cancelled/returned.
Visitor: I see you are all about the money, glad to no longer be a customer then.
Visitor: You are lying on that last post Zach.
Visitor: The trade in submission is a completely seperate process than me buying the iphone and returning it.
Visitor: So you are not willing to help me, because you can't find my phone.
Zach: You're right about that process, and though I can't find your phone we can partner with the trade-in team to work out a solution.
Visitor: I am filing a complaint against Verizon with the Better Business Bureau and I will name you as one of the people who went out of their way to not help me.
Visitor: I can not believe I just read that you could have helped me, but won't since I returned the phone.
Visitor: That was flat out wrong, you deserve to be punished for that misinformation.
Zach: I'm not saying I won't help you. I'm saying that our options are now more limited because you returned that device.
Visitor: That is not an accurate statement.
Visitor: The options are exactly the same as they were.
Visitor: You can search by submission ID, phone number, and email, which provides no results.
Visitor: Your other option, calling the trade in department, is also still available.
Visitor: Those were your 2 options before and after I returned the phone, and those are still the same 2 options you have now. The fact that your company goes out of your way to argue ridiculous points makes me 100% happy I returned my device while I had a chance to.
Visitor: Now I want my phone back.
Visitor: The iphone 5 that is.
Zach: Well, not exactly. Your trade-in would have been worth $200 with a iPhone 6 purchase, however since that phone has been returned and service has been cancelled then the trade in value may be less. Have you contacted the trade in center at all about the device you shipped to them?
Visitor: No that should be your job, I'm right here on the website that had me use the cheap brown evnvelope in the first place.
Visitor: if you go check the forums on verizon
Visitor: people are straight up trashing the trade in system
Zach: In my experience it takes about 3-4 weeks. 6 tops
Visitor: $36 for broken devices given out to people that sent in working phones
Visitor: other phones never being received
Visitor: it's all over the verizon forums
Visitor: did this worry me? yes
Visitor: and did it have an affect on me returning the phone? absolutely
Visitor: and the reason is that not ONE verizon rep replied with a solution, 1 guy was credited the $200 and they still claim they never got his phone
Visitor: the rest of the people are out of luck, and they will not help them
Visitor: this should be reported to the FCC too
Zach: Can I offer you a personal suggestion?
Visitor: i'm going to talk to a lot of people tomorrow
Zach: Not necessarily the VZW suggestion but from one person to another?
    Visitor: sure
Zach: Call the 877-247-3846 number (the trade in program support center) and ask to speak to a manager and escalate the issue through them. Have them give you a timeline on when to expect an answer. If that timeline is not met, then escalate again. I've had to do this, I don't tell a lot of customers that because it doesn't look good but I think it's important in this conversation that you know that I have been through the exact same situation.
    Visitor: Alright thank you Zach
Zach: And I was able to get it resolved after about a month from the time I sent it in but it took me having to follow up. I hate that you may have to do the same thing and I hope you have an easier experience than I did... my situation was almost two years ago so I expect that to be better and I hope it is for you
Visitor: I do appreciate the help you've given. Unfortunately I'm out a $35 activation, a $35 restocking fee and a $100 ETF from sprint. It's too little too late, I guess I can pay my wifes bill with the gift card since I no longer have a cell phone.
Zach: You're very welcome, I did add the 1GB of free data and the 50% off your $40 smartphone charge which will be reflected on your bill moving forward as my way of saying sorry for the mess and I know it doesn't fix everything but I hope it at least helps in letting you know that I do care about your experience.
Visitor: I really screwed myself for work, and talking to my family and everhthing. Lost my phone number that I had for the last 8 years.
Zach: Well, I wouldn't give up on the trade in just yet. and that 50% off saves you $240 over the next year. So it's every little bit that I could do.
    Zach: Well.... here's this....
Visitor: It doesn't matter, my cell phone number that I had for almost a decade is out in the wild now. It's quite depressing thinking about everything honestly.
Zach: We can reactivate that line of service that you just cancelled
Zach: was that the number you're worried about?
    Zach: the 419 number?
    Visitor: yeah
Zach: What if we reactivate that and then get you a phone ordered from our system?
And then it hit me, even Verizon admits the faults with the system trade in system.  I wish I would have been more patient and I wish I never returned the phone, and I almost wanted to say yes to Zach activating me a new phone.  I overreacted in this situation, but I'm just so stubborn sometimes I wouldn't back down.  I felt like threatening Verizon with canceling was going to get me farther with figuring out my trade in credit, and at the end of the day it only cost me more money.
    So now I'm out of:
$78 Last month bill to Sprint ( Only used 1 week of this month, but they will not prorate since I was under contract )
$100 Early Termination Fee to Sprint
    $35 Activation Fee from Verizon
    $35 Restocking Fee from Verizon
Out a Total of $248, have no phone at the moment and my Sprint Iphone 5 that I sent in has still supposedly just vanished into thin air.  I'm mad at myself for trying to stand up as a consumer and say no, because at the end of the day I was happy with my device.  I guess I'm going to go without a phone for awhile and think about my poor choices in this whole situation,  if I could go back in time I would have just waited and kept the phone.  Hopefully this helps someone else out because I spent a lot of hard earned money and time on this whole ordeal.

They do not know where your phone is yet because it has not had enough time to go through the process yet. I also started to worry when two weeks had passed and my iPhone 5S was still showing not received on the status website. That's when I joined this forum to see if anyone else was having the same problem. What I found out was that some people had been given reduced value for their trade in, but I also found posts from people like myself that were worried that their phone was lost and then came back and posted a week or two later that they had received their gift card.
I decided to chill and give it some time and about a week later my gift card arrived. If it had been for less than the promised amount I would no doubt still be upset and posting about it like the many posts I still see on here on a regular basis.
This is no doubt a popular program for Verizon. I would imagine there have been thousands of phones traded in. There are going to be at least some screw ups in the process. There is no point in getting ahead of yourself and assuming your case will be one of the screw ups unless it already is. Verizon has been consistently posting that it could take 4-6 weeks for processing. You will at some point likely hear the status on your traded-in phone. Patience would not hurt in this case.

  • How do I delete the iCloud back up from your previous iPhone that was used to restore my new iPhone?

My phone was replaced yesterday by the apple store. I restored my data from my old phone onto my new phone. Now I am receiving alerts from iCloud that I do not have enough memory to back up my new phone. I noticed that I have the old iPhone , my iPad, and this iPhone. When I try to delete my old profile, the system does not allow it as it is currently in use. As a result, I cannot back up my new iPhone due to not enough memory. Is there a way to delete the old profile?

    Hi Cynatalya!
Here is an article that can help you manage your iCloud storage:
    iCloud: Managing your iCloud storage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847
Specifically, this section addresses your exact question:
Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your device
    iOS device
Tap Settings, and then tap the iCloud icon.
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Tap Manage Storage.
Tap your iOS device in the Backups area.
    Tap Delete Backup.
You will be asked to confirm this change. Deleting this backup will also turn off Backup of your iOS device. Choose Delete if you want to turn off Backup and remove all backups for this iOS device from iCloud.
