NSAPI Redirector in SOLARIS 8

Hi:
I'm trying to fordward request from iPlanet 6.0 (Solaris 8) to Tomcat 5.5 using NSAPI Redirector.
When I load the plugin mod_jk-1.2.15-solaris8-sparc-apache-1.3.33.so I obtain this message:
[09/Jan/2006:17:22:09] failure (18615): Configuration initialization failed: Error running init function load-modules: dlopen of /uni2/produccion/iws60sp2/plugins/nsapi/mod_jk-1.2.15-solaris8-sparc-apache-1.3.33.so failed (ld.so.1: ns-httpd: fatal: relocation error: file /uni2/produccion/iws60sp2/plugins/nsapi/mod_jk-1.2.15-solaris8-sparc-apache-1.3.33.so: symbol ap_null_cleanup: referenced symbol not found)
I checked that the requeried libraries are in the Path.
Any idea?

hi
i was reading through your posts but still don't understand why you would need or loose your sleep in getting to work with tomcat when sun java system web server can do the job in house.
also, if you r interested in having different entry point, why not have multiple instances of web server or multiple virtual servers to do the job .
pl. note that sun java system web server derives the better performance and is able to put some good numbers in Spec Web because of its wonderful integration.

  • Nsapi redirector plugin for sun webserver

I am trying to determine how to configure Sun webserver 6.1SP5 to front end tomcat 5.5.27.
I cam across this link http://tomcat.apache.org/connectors-doc/webserver_howto/nes.html which talks about this topic.
My question is where can I get a pre-compiled nsapi redirector plugin nsapi_redirector.so for the following platforms:
    Solaris 9 - SPARC
    Solaris 10 - SPARC
    Solaris 10 x86
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Vishal

Pre-compiled copies of that library may exist int he wild, but Sun hasn't produced any that I'm aware of.
Actually compiling NSAPI is generally not too difficult though. Have you tried compiling?

Do you support NSAPI or Apache plugin on Linux for WLS 6.0 (could not

  • How to scale an nsapi app on Solaris SMP machines?

A Solaris nsapi application does not scale well on multi-processor (SMP) machines due to serialized heap allocation. What are the options to overcome this in an nsapi application?
We use SmartHeap from Microquill in our non-nsapi applications, but have not been able use it from our nsapi application (which we don't link). Has anyone had any success using SmartHeap or a similar product from an nsapi application?
Explicitly using the nsapi heap allocation macros is probably not an option for us.
    Thanks
    Norrie

Using the NSAPI pool allocator functions (e.g. pool_malloc) will give you the best possible performance, followed closely by the NSAPI pool allocator macros (e.g. MALLOC).
You can use SmartHeap from an NSAPI application - in fact, iWS 6.0 on Solaris bundles SmartHeap - but there are interoperability issues with Solaris JVMs. As a result, the server may crash when using SmartHeap with a Java-enabled iWS installation.

  • NSAPI not sticky in a cluster

    Hi!
I am using NSAPI(IPlanet on SOlaris) as web server as proxy and to serve static contents. My application lies on a cluster with two nodes of managed servers. NSAPI acting as a load-balancer needs to follow the sticky algorothm where it should direct the request from same client to the same node. It should use the session id or cookie to identify which server the session should be sticky to. But NSAPI rotates the requests between the two nodes in random. Since my session is replicated, this doesn't log the user out, but this behaviour is undesirable and not according to the bea docs.
Can anyone suggest how to debug this? Is there anything required on the plug-in side to be configured?
    Regards,
    Manish Agarwal.

Thanks Eric, but I still have not been able to figure this out. There is something
i want to add here, i checked with the vendor hosting our web serevers and he
replied that there is a hardware loadbalancer in front of the three web servers
distributing the requests between different servers based on load. So now that
the hardware loadbalancer is not sticky based on session id and cookie, can NSAPI
figure out which weblogic node did the last request go to.
Does the hardware loadbalancer need to support sticky sessions?

I just want to add that i have three instances of NSAPI as Web-Servers,
could it be possible that requests from client going through differentweb

    Hi,
In my product, I have an operation where I upload files to my website.
When I am uploading smaller size files I am not facing any problem. But when
I upload large size files (eg 10 MB) it is happening multiple times. I did
not face this problem on Windows NT. Only on Solaris I am experiencing this.
So we wrote a simple servlet to find out what is exactly happening. I am
getting timeout. I connect to WebLogic Server through Netscape Web Server
which is running on another Solaris. I tried to increase the connection
timeout in Netscape Server. It did not provide any results to me. When I
checked the logs on NSAPI, it is connecting to WL properly, the problem is
from WebLogic. Apart from the Session Timeout in Deployment Descriptor is
there any where that weblogic has a timeout settings. I want to know about
this in detail. It is very very urgent.
Here is the way my bean works, it reads the file from disk and copy it
to temporary location and then do the upload. When it started reading, it is
fine and then when it is uploading, it is getting timeout so, it started
reading the file again, it is happening till it gets out of space error.

What service pack you are using? If you are using 451 SP8 or recent then it has
    a new
plugin parameter called - "HungServerRecoverSecs". Here are the details:
    HungServerRecoverSecs 10:300:600 for (min:default:max)
You should set this to a very large value. If it is less than the time the
    servlets take
to process, then you will see unexpected results. This implementation takes care
    of the
hung or unresponsive servers in the cluster. So the plugin waits for
HungServerRecoverSecs for the the server to respond and then declares that
    server dead
and fails over to the next server.
Maybe this is what you are seeing. If the value is too low it will failover and
    the POST will
    happen multiple times.
Let us know if this problem persists.

  • NSAPI Plug-in problems for WLS 6.1 SP4 on Solaris 8

I recently upgraded our dev weblogic 6.1 to SP4. Around the same time, the
netscape plugin inexplicably starts to behave differently.
I have the following configuration lines in the obj.conf file
    <Object name="test" ppath="*/apps/*">
    Service fn=wl_proxy WebLogicHost=appserver.mycompany.com WebLogicPort=7001
    </Object>
I did not configure the plugin to proxy by mime type.
But no matter what I put in the url, it automatically gets proxied to
    appserver host.
    I tried:
http://web.mycompany.com/index.html - I see the WebLogic Index page instead
of the default Netscape Webserver home page.
http://web.mycompany.com/test/test.jsp - I see the test jsp page, even
though it is not a path that I configured to proxy over to weblogic.
    Anybody experience this before?
    TIA,
    John

    Thanks for your response.
The plugin inexplicably starts to work again after several days
without changes to obj.conf file but the webserver was restarted.
However, when I first spotted the problem, I restarted the webserver several
times with no visible effect on the problem. I need to trace this
and see if I can duplicate the problem again, but for now, the
    problem has gone away.

This may be a netscape issue since, from what you are saying, the weblogic
plugin gets invoked on any request.
The only time the plugin gets invoked is if it goes into the object tag.
Can you paste your full obj.conf?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
Could someone HELP me with the following issue pls?

    ------------------------------------------------------------- PROBLEM DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Whenever I launch a JSP page, it takes significant time and fails to render with "No back end server available for connection. Timed out after 300 seconds or idempotent set to OFF" message.
    2. These JSP pages are not doing any I/O intensive activities (NO long DB read...) as well (reads a 10-15 KB file from local disk and display some simple UI)
    3. WL Console shows all the THREADS as HOGGING and eventually, the log file shows them as STUCK !!
    4. After some random period of time (1 hr, 2 hr or 5 hr), IF I try to launch the same JSP page, it might succeed.
    5. Re-deploying the .war file/Restarting the weblogic instance, SOMETIME helps !!!
Based Google search, I have done following changes with NO LUCK.
        1.  Changed JVM parameters (--Xms1024m --Xmx024m, MazPermSize=512m ) with NO LUCK

  • Issues with NSAPI connection before/after SP3

    I'm using WinNT 4.0 sp 5, Weblogic 5.1 sp3 and Netscape 4.1 Server. (Note:
I have do not have these problems on Solaris)
I've been having a problem on an off with some jsps that I have written.
They call session beans which are served by weblogic app server 5.10. The
JSPs are located on the app server and the static pages and graphics are
located on the NS web server. I have Netscape 4.1 as the web server. I've
configured the NSAPI driver using weblogic/bin/proxy36.dll. Before adding
service pack 3, I was experiencing long delays in the retreival of the jsps
when using IE5. They seemed to work just fine with Netscape 4.7. Even
              simple jsps such as...
              ----------------test.jsp----------
              <HTML>
              <BODY>
              Test!
              </BODY>
              </HTML>
              ----------------test.jsp----------
... seemed to produce delays. If I stopped the browser I'd get a Dr watson.
The Event Viewer shows the following error message

I looked into the service pack and found that in service pack 2 there was a
              fix for Issue 10381,
              * ISSUE 10381: Fixed a problem with messed up headers to the browser from
NSAPI plug-in causing problems with IE5
which I figured could fix my problem. I installed the servcie pack 3. I
noticed that the service pack instructions left out what to do with the
files in the service pack, of course with exception to the 2 jar files. I
assummed that they were to be copied over the existing. After copying the
files the proxy stopped working. Now NS asks if I want to open or save the
file. I looked into the Netscape logs and it appears as though the server
starts up fine. If I change back to the old proxy36.dll, I get the delays
and the Dr Watsons, but the pages are loaded as html in the browser rather
than downloading. I am assumming that the NS4.1 server can't use the new
              proxy36.dll.
              What am I missing?

The two problem you have described:

  • Problem with Iplanet/JWS 6.1 connecting to Weblogic on Solaris

We have an application which runs JSPs and Servlets on SJSWS/Iplanet 6.1 and uses
    EJBs on
    Weblogic 8.1 for database access.
When the Weblogic server is running on a Windows box, there is no problem accessing
    the EJBs. But
we have not been able to get connected when the Weblogic is running on a Solaris
    box.
Also, we don't have a problem connecting to the Weblogic on Solaris from a Tomcat
    webserver, so
the EJBs and URI are correct.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Problem with php-5.0.2 in Solaris 10 (SunBlade 150)

    Hello,
I was trying to install php-5.0.2 in a SunBlade 150 with Solaris 10 but solaris 10 does not allow me.
Im using iPlanet Web Server 6.0 and I already checked for the required software:
gcc, make ,flex,bison,m4 ,autoconf ,automake ,perl ,gz,ip ,tar ,GNU sed
I'm doing this and the configure remains there (as compiling without showing nothing to me)
    ./configure with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql with-nsapi=/opt/Webserver/
    enable-track-vars enable-libgcc \
    with-jpeg-dir=/usr/bin/ with-png-dir=/usr/local/lib
    with-zlib-dir=/usr/include with-gd-dir=/usr/local/lib \
    enable-calendar enable-gd-native-ttf --with-freetype-dir=/usr/sfw/lib/
    with-xpm enable-debug
    creating cache ./config.cache
    checking host system type... saporc-sun-solaris2.10
and that's it, the configure command just displays two lines and it does not write anything to the config.cache.
I was able to install php 5 under Solaris 8 and 9 with iPlanet Web Server 6.0 but this time Im stuck, any suggestion?

  • Application is throwing NSAPI and other errors after the migration

We started seeing NSAPI and other errors after the migration of new codes and recently make some changes
    1) During the migration, all the 4 WLS cluster instances were bounced simultaneously. What is the best practice and recommendation from BEA Oracle? Do we need to bounce it one by one for any specific reason?
    2) we recently introduced the 4th weblogic cluster instance on Solaris 10 zone. All other WLS instances are running on Solaris 8.
Is it okay to have two different OS versions( Solaris 8 and Solaris 10) and different hardware to host WLS cluster instances? Does BEA Oracle support this kind of configuration?
    3) We are consistently seeing below errors in the iplanet web server error logs even though site is working fine
[11/Sep/2009:08:53:50] failure ( 4453): for host XX.XX.XX.XX trying to POST /servlet/FSO, wl-proxy reports: exception occurred for backend host 'YY.YY.YY.YY/23120/0': 'CONNECTION_REFUSED [os error=0, line 1732 of URL.cpp]: Error connecting to host YY.YY.YY.YY.YY:23120'
Do we need to upgrade our WLS proxy plugin? . Current version of WLS proxy plug-in is libproxy_61.so. Our Weblogic version is WLS 92 MP2
I'll really appreciate if some can anwsers those questions

OK booted in to Virtualbox, seems too be working fine this way, maybe it is the ATi drivers
    any Help would be appreciated
