NullPointerException using weight based load algorithm?

We're using WL451, on Solaris. We have two clusters, Cluster A (running
servlets) and Cluster B (running EJB's).
We've enabled weight-based load balancing on cluster B. Each machine
          has a weblogic.system.weight property defined.
When running code on cluster A, we get frequent null pointer exceptions
in Weblogic. Has anyone seen this?

  • When to use flow based load sharing?

    Hey,
is there any reason to use flow based (src_id,dst_id) based load balancing instead of exchange based (src_id,dst_id,ox_id) ?
exchange based will give me better load balancing in many scenarions.
Why would i want to change the default of exchange based to flow based???
(except when using FICON or HP EVA continuos access of course)
    regards,
    Michael

I think you nailed it on the head there. Flow based is less then ideal, and used in scenarios where backwards compatibility is required.
Other than that, exchange based load balancing will ensure the most optimal distribution of traffic across your links.

  • Weight-Based Algorithm

I've got this situation where I have a (6) node cluster of unequal hardware size.
My (6) nodes are spread across (3) servers. Each server has (2) nodes. One of
the servers has (2) 966 mHz PII with (1) GB of RAM. I've allocated a heap of 400mb
per node. The second server has identical CPUs as the first, but has (2) GB of
RAM. I've allocated a heap of 800mb of RAM per node. The last server has (4) CPUs
with (4) GB of RAM. I've allocated 1GB of RAM per node and most likely will add
another node in the coming weeks.
My applications are very memory intensive. I've only distributed traffic Round-Robin
or via an Alteon AceDirector where I controlled the traffic distribution. I'm
using a reverse proxy (ISAPI Plugin). I can't get away with using a Round-Robin
algorithm, so I've attempted to implement a weight-based algorithm via WebLogic.
Can anyone tell me about their experience with this load distribution algorithm?
Does it really work, or does it end up functioning just like round-robin? Based
on the hardware configuration I mentioned earlier, would you have any recommendations
on breakout of weight per node? I've played around with 5% for the two smaller
nodes, 20% for the two medium nodes and 25% for the two larger nodes...Any input
              would be appreciated...
              Regards,
              Steve

  • How to create dynamic table using POJO based DataControl

    Hi,
I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0. I'm not using ADF BC.
I've a requirement to display the Dynamic table in my search page.
In our product we are using POJO based Data controls.
I created a task-flow and page fragment. I tried to create the dynamic table by drag-drop of searchResults from my Data control, I see the option for Read-Only Dynamic Table, but when I select this option, I don't see anything happening.
Does the Dynamic Table work with POJO data controls?
    Any inputs would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Ravi

First U have to crate Extended View Object to your actual View obj.
Now take Page with Panel  Splitter ,on First facet drag View obj as table and on second Facet Drag Extended View Obj as table. On page loading U have delete all rows from Extended View object. And then u have write bean code on button click to get current select rows from above view objct, and for Filter rows from Second View obj according to selection of rows from first view obj...

  • Session based load balance + Prepared statements

    Experts,
From the docs I understand that there are 3 load balancing techniques. One is client side and two are server side. Of the two, one is session count based load balancing, and as per docs, it is recommended for connection pool setting.
My question is if I have prepared statements originally created using connection to node1, and say if listener re-directs the conneciton to another node node2, will the prepared statement work on node2 ?.
    Thanks
    Vissu

Just to clarify, the question is:
Are the prepared statements usable when we use session count based load balancing.

  • ResourceBundle loading algorithm.

    Hi folks,
I do have a problem/question with the resource bundle loading algorithm.
    Here is my setup:
I have written a taglib which retrieves the user locale from the request and returns a message in the user's language, if the resource bundle does not exist, English text should be returned.
    Well, here is the problem:
    Say the user sends pt_BR
    JVM's locale is de_DE (Locale.getDefault())
The taglib is publicly available so I have no influence on the server/JVM locale.
    Available are:
    bundle.properties (contains English text)
    bundle_de.properties (German strings)
Well, what happens is that no bundle_pt_br.properties is going to be found and the user receives the bundle_de.properties content.
The outcome is that the Portuguese speaker sees messages in German which is absolutely useless and undesired.
Is this really intended to happen in this algorithm, if yes, why? How can this be bridged?
The only solution I see is to check the bundle's locale against the locale I wanted to load.
    Thanks,
    Mike

I've checked the behavior from JDK 1.1 to JDK 7. All behaved the same: fallback to the de locale. IIRC, the ResourceBundle API doc was rewritten to reflect the actual behavior in JDK 1.3. But the behavior didn't change.
I don't know reasons why ResourceBundle.getBudle() was designed to fallback to the default locale, but a number of developers had complained about the behavior. That was one of the reasons that ResourceBundle.Control was introduced in JDK 6.
As Piet pointed out, you can subclass ResourceBundle.Control if you can use JDK6. There is convenience method ResourceBundle.Control.getNoFallbackControl() that returns a ResourceBundle.Control with which getBundle() doesn't fallback to the default locale. If you are using JDK 5.0 or earlier, the workaround would be to provide empty resource bundles for unsupported languages, like bundle_pt.properties.

  • Health based load balancing.

I know that RM can provide health based load balancing e.g. RM will stop giving the load if WEF server is not healthy. We have a F5 load balancer, Can't we get the health based load balancing using F5?
    Regards Restless Spirit

i think you can do. You can specify the number of monitors that must report a pool member as being available before that member is defined as being in an up state.
check this support article will give you different method of loadbalacing
    Load Balancing pool

  • CMAC using AES-128 MAC algorithms

I am interested in IDL(International Driver's License) Applet
    And,
I want to konw how to implement CMAC using AES-128 MAC algorithms in JavaCard 2.2.1, especially, JCOPv2.4.1.
Does Java Card API or JCOP API support this algorithm, CMAC using AES-128 MAC?
if not, do I should implement this algorithms as a function inside IDL Applet?
    please help me.

JCOP v2.4.1 supports AES. You just need to code down what is written in the spec.
JCOP platform itself does not support AES based secure channel protocol (SCP03).

    Hi,
I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada and when I try to use Siri it loads and loads and then says, "I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while."
I rebooted and it didn't fix the problem. I just got my iPhone 4s (unlocked right from Apple) several weeks ago.

Siri has been a bit more erratic than usual in the last week or so. Apple has announced a major announcement for 9/12. Conclusions are left to the reader.
    Best of luck.

  • How to use the property-loader?

    Hello,
i´m using TS 3.5 and LV 8.0. Now i also want to use the built-in property-loader from Teststand.
Is there somewhere a documentation for "beginners" how to use this property-loader? At the end i want to read parameters from an ascii-file which updates my input-parameters of the steps in the current-sequence.
I know how to read and change parameters from teststand in labview via active-x, but i have no idea how to use this propertyloader-thing.
Is there an easy help file somewhere in the net ( I havent found one yet)?
    Thanks for your help.

Meanwhile i can use the propertyloader for Limits and Variables which are in a container of the teststep. What not worked was:
1.) setting the properties of a "Messagebox". For example the property "Button1Label". Why is this not working?
2.) The second thing what is not clear: Do i need for each sequence an own property-loader? I tested it with a sequence with one subsequence. Does the subsequence needs its own property-loader?
Currently the import-csv-file looks like this:
    Start Marker,,,
    <Step Name>,Limits.Low,Limits.High,Cont.Voltage
    TestStep_1,1,2,4
    TestStep_2,8,16,32
    End Marker,,,
When Teststep_1 and Teststep_2 are both in mainsequence then it works. When i copy Teststep_2 in a subsequence then i get an error (-18).
Any ideas about my two questions?
    Thanks

  • How can I make server use single class loader for several applications

I have several web/ejb applications. These applications use some common libraries and should share instances of classes from those libraries.
But applications are being deployed independently thus packaging all them to EAR is not acceptable.
I suppose the problem is that each application uses separate class loader.
How can I make AS use single class loader for a set of applications?
Different applications depend on different libraries so I need a way that will not share library for all applications on the domain but only for some exact applications.
When I placed common jar to *%domain%/lib* - all works. But that jar is shared between all applications on the domain.
When I tried to place common jar to *%domain%/lib/applibs* and specified --libraries* attribute on deploying I got exception
    java.lang.ClassCastException: a.FirstDao cannot be cast to a.FirstDaoHere http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19879-01/820-4336/6nfqd2b1t/index.html I read:
If multiple applications or modules refer to the same libraries, classes in those libraries are automatically shared.
This can reduce the memory footprint and allow sharing of static information.Does it mean that classes should be able to be casted ?

You didn't specify which version of the application server you are using, but the config is similar as long as you know what to look for. Basically, you need to change the classloader delegation. Here's how it is done in 8.2

UPDATE: I had 36 Safari windows open and minimized on the dock from my last session; 20 of those windows failed to open b/c Safari "couldn't find the server"; I just went to the URL bar of all 20 pages and clicked return, and all 20 pages loaded perfectly, without dropping any images or losing formatting. This is a puzzle!!!

  • Using XML-based object structures to represent data in code/at run-time

    Hello,
I have quite a "high level" question which has be bothering me for some time, and I haven't found the subject tackled in any books. I believe J2SE/J2EE is not an important divide here.
Lets say I want to develop a J2SE game application with two programs: a "level designer", and a "level viewer", and I want to store the level files in an XML format.
My question, and I use this example only to try and illustrate it, is:
when coding the level designer or viewer, is it reasonable to use an XML-based object hierarchy for representing a level in code/at run-time, i.e. using the standard Java DOM APIs? Or should one (as I would have done before XML came along) develop a set of classes much closer to modelling the real form of a level, and then add a means to convert those objects to/from to XML format?
This second option of course I would use/would have used if I wasn't thinking about XML, but isn't it sometimes easier to just read in an XML file into a DOM representation and just use the data straight out of that structure, rather than go through the bother of parsing the XML into a set of unrelated objects defined by a different family of classes? What shapes your decision here? And if the second option is best, what is the easiest way of converting to/from the XML?
    Thank you for any advice.
    Greg

    Hi Christian,
Can I ask: what about if your domain was quite 'close' to an object/DOM representation of XML?
For instance, what if a game operated by acting out a theatrical script, a spoken conversation, between two characters, perhaps somehow influenced at points by the user, and a particular level was just a different script for the characters.
One could imagine that the object representation of this would in the end be quite similar to how you'd represent XML, i.e. like a tree of nodes, where each node was a line from the script, and some nodes were a decision point where different nodes could be chosen from.
Would you still want to avoid using XML-based classes to represent the underlying 'game', or is there a point where you would 'give it' to the similarity and use existing XML structures directly?
    Thank you for any advice
    Greg
