Number of concurrent DB connections in CF 9 Pro ed.

I am running CF 9 Prof on Windows 2003, with sql server 2005. I am running a web application that has total has about 350 users on at peak connecting to about 40 different data sources. At peak times I will get several errors in a row of Timed out trying to establish connection. It seems to run fine until this starts to happen.Until recently we were splitting the clients between 2 cf boxes and this was never an issue.
I am wondering which direction to look in.
Is this an issue of too many different connections to db's for Pro ed. to handle.
Is there a limit of db connections in Pro Ed. I have searched this forum and googled it and can't seem to find an answer.
Thanks,

I am looking into the 1st question and will let you know when I have any answers there.
the 2nd question is I am limiting the connections for each db to 6, I am maintaining the connection, and I set the timeout to 20 minutes with a 1 minute check. On my previous server setup with 2 cf servers I had the connction limit at 4, and I never got this problem. the other servers were CF 8 however.
The error coming through is [Datasource] is Not Available .Timed out trying to establish connection.
The only reason that I limit connections is that previous version of CF would sometimes grab a thread and never let it go, I didn't want all my clients down at once so I limited how many threads any 1 db could take.  I don't know if that issue was ever solved in 9.

  • Is there a way to control the number of concurrent SMTP connections on Database Mail?

    Las week Rackspace started controlling the number of concurrent SMTP connections and we are now getting the following message when we send as little as 15 messages at a time using Database Mail:
    Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Service not available, closing transmission channel. The server response was: 4.7.0 smtp13.relay.dfw1a.emailsrvr.com Error: too many connections from IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
    We are using SQL Server 2005 and Windows 2003 and we have been doing this since 2006 with no problems
    Is there a way to control the number of concurrent SMTP connections used by Database Mail or the Database Mail external executable DatabaseMail90.exe?

    Hi rkohler,
    Usually, we can use the Database Mail Configuration Wizard or the Database Mail stored procedures to determine the server name and port number for the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server . In the SMTP server points, we can set or increase the number
    of concurrent connections.
    There is similar issue about database email on SQL Server 2005, you can refer to the following post.

  • Maximum number of concurrent WCF connections on Windows 7

    I have a WCF service hosted on Windows 7 Pro operating system.
    I would like to know if there is some OS restriction for the number of concurrent WCF clients from different IP addresses that interacts with my service. My WCF service could be run under a dedicated console process or under a Windows Service.
    I know that there is a 20 limit of concurrent inbound connections to the MS services (like IIS, File Service, Print Services, etc.), but I have my own custom service that I want to use.
    If there is some OS restrictions related to my case, which are the restrictions when using Windows Server OS?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    There is no any restriction about the Windows Operating System. The configuration of
    maxConcurrentCalls, maxConcurrentSessions, and
    maxConcurrentInstances only depends on your CPU cores.
    Set maxConcurrentCalls, maxConcurrentSessions, and
    maxConcurrentInstances to a value greater than 16 * the number of CPUs or CPU cores. For example, on a computer with 8 CPU cores, set
    maxConcurrentCalls, maxConcurrentSessions, and
    maxConcurrentInstances to a value greater than 128 (16 * 8 = 128) as follows:
    <serviceThrottling
    maxConcurrentCalls="200"
    maxConcurrentSessions="200"
    maxConcurrentInstances="200" />

  • Limit of concurrent tcp connections for 2012 Essential

    Hello!
    I looking for what is the max number of concurrent tcp connections on windows 2012 r2 essential..
    I didn'f find answers on here or on the web
    Any help wold be appreciate.
    thanks

    Hi,
    There is no official article related to that. However, based on my experience, there is a registry key to define the maximum number of connections that TCP can have open simultaneously.
    You can check the key of TcpNumConnections in registry editor under the path below:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
    If there is no such registry existing, you can add one and configure the value from 0x0–0xFFFFFE(REG_DWORD). (0 means that you cannot establish any connections)

  • Checking the number of concurrent user?

    Hi all,
    We are using FMS 4.5 to provide f4m & m3u8 live streaming and VOD to user via http.
    How can i check the number of concurrent user connected to the live and VOD?
    Many thanks!

    A few random thoughts...
    1) Check the system documentation for how RAM needs to be populated in the V240.
    I seem to recall that platform needs them two-at-a-time.
    2) Your prtdiag report would not have eight lines of information for the Memory Module Group unless there were eight DIMMs in existence. Empty slots would not be mentioned.
    Use Google and search for a perl script utility named memconf_.
    It's a handy third-party tool to get a text report of how RAM is populated in a system.

  • Maximum number of concurrent users that can connect to a SQL DB

    I see various SQL DB plan S0, S1, S2 and P1, P2 and P3.  Each one of them talk about DTU's but never talk about the max number of concurrent users.  Where can I find that number and is it configurable by the end user?

    It is the maximum connection that is most important. Best practice is not to have users holding on to their connection for long period of time. Maximum user connection in SQL is 32767, resource permitting. Not sure for Azure SQL. If you follow best
    practice, you are not supposed to hit this limit cause other limits will be hit first.

  • Limit number of concurrent connection

    is there a way for me to limit the number of concurrent
    connections to the media server. my upload bandwitdh is about a meg
    so having too many connections just kills the whole thing. i would
    like to put a limit at 5 connections. is there a way to do
    this?

    well i am only using flash media server to displaying videos
    and just that. the reason i went with media server vs. progressive
    was fullscreen method. since flash doesn't natively support
    fullscreen you have to open another browser in fullscreen with
    javascript. the problem with that is it start loading from
    beginning so i decided to go server that way it only has to buffer
    and get to the same point without having to load the whole video up
    to that point. Now i want to limit number people that can be
    watching the video. if i get more that 5 connection the whole thing
    slows down. i am not too familiar with server based connections so
    i don't know how to limit the number concurrent connections.

  • Maximum number of concurrent connections using java sockets

    How can we find out the maximum number of concurrent connections that can be handled by a pooled connection server?
    I have a pooled server which creates a predefined number of handlers. Upon receiving a new request it accepts the connection and sends it to one of the handler.
    The solution works well for low number of concurrent connections - < 50 or 100
    But as the number increases there seems to be an issue
    1. Ignoring request even if i increase the handlers
    2. Increase in delay. [I feel that the listening thread is not getting the time slice to go read the socket for new requests]
    Any idea as to how i can solve this?
    Would an NIO socket help [am using the conventional java.io Serversocket, because my clients may not be non-blocking]??
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Anp

    There is no set maximum, but it is in the thousands on most platforms. I have a production server that handles tens of thousands of connections simultaneously. Most likely you have a bug in your code.

  • Scalability in BlazeDS - What is the maximum number of concurrent users possible with BlazeDS?

    Hi all,
    is there a limit on the number of concurrent users that can connect via BLAZEDS? I see many places that it is only in 100s and not in 1000s.
    is that true? Anybody has doen performance testing on that?
    Thanks
    Kiran

    What is practical? Probably between 1 and 6 streams can be done with reasonable use of bandwidth. However, keep in mind that you will likely want to use the lowest quality setting for cameras so they are demanding the least amount of bandwidth.
    Using the Connect 8 numbers, Low quality webcam video with the room at LAN settings should have an aprox average bandwidth consumption of 184 kbps. From there it is just simple math. 6 live streams at that setting will be 1.1 Mbps. Alternatively, at High quality webcam video and with the room at LAN, each stream will average aprox 501 kbps. 6 streams will average 3 Mbps.

  • Limit number of concurrent users

    Hi everyone,
    We'd like to limit to 5 the number of concurrent connections to our dashboard, but we cant make it work.
    We've tested changing the Connection Pool, setting to 5 the Maximum connections parameter, but we still can connect with more than 5 users. We've even tried setting the parameter to 1, but still can access the dashboard with more than one user.
    Do we have to set any other parameters? Is this the right way of limiting concurrent connections?
    Btw, we also tried unchecking "Enable connection pool", but it didnt work neither.
    Thanks.

    Dear Deepak,
    This is what I am talking about. This session information only shows 1 session of apache.
    However many users are connected to apache more then like 250.Are you trying to figure out how many different users are using Apache? Or how many sessions exist in the database? In a three-tier environment, you almost always have a connection pool, so the number of hitting the middle tier is substantially different than the number of sessions in the database.
    What is the business problem you are trying to solve? Is this a licensing question? Or a technical question? If it is technical question, what problem are you trying to solve?

  • Number of concurrent a/v conference calls, and its bandwidth consumed.

    I have two central sites and multiple branch sites. Each central site has one Front End pool. we are planning to replace Lync 2013 servers for hosting meetings, conferences ( audio, video and web)
    My manager wants to know the number of concurrent audio/Video conference calls that our Lync Front End pools can handle and the bandwidth consumed by these calls. Can anyone here help with this or point me to where to find the right tool. I have tried using
    Bandwidth calculator, it was not working well for me.

    For Audio, assuming G722 (without FEC) it will be about 96Kbps per stream. So in theory that would be
    over 1000 calls on 100Mb, however that doesn't take into account any other traffic that would be on the link.
    For H.264 Video it can be anywhere up to 4000Kbps (HD), but it's unlikely that all your end points would be running 1920x1080 resolution and they will all negotiate differently. So without knowing a lot about your environment I would say on average (which
    is just that between min to max around 50 video streams) or 128-250 streams at lower resolutions - so traffic through phones and slow connections (320x180-16:9/ 212x160-4:3 to 640x360-16:9/640x480-4:3) and
    25-50 streams at the higher resolutions. So HD cameras and rooms systems, etc. Once again not taking into account other things on the network.
    With regards to the pool themselves,  follow the hardware specifications required which you can check using the capacity planning tool http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36828 the
    supported maximum however for a large conference on a single pool is 250 participants.
    As I mentioned it's almost impossible to give definitive numbers because there are so many variables, but hopefully this helps a little.

  • Determine optimal number of concurrent sessions

    How do I determine the optimal number of concurrent network and local processes
    for my system?
    <P>
    On Unix Messaging Servers, there is a configuration option (select "System
    Configuration") that allows an administrator to specify the maximum number of
    concurrent local and network processes. On NT, each process is a thread, so there is a differentiator for
    IMAP/POP.
    <P>
    Network processes are IMAP, POP, and SMTP-Deliver. If you set this number to 32,
    there will be 32 processes available each for IMAP, POP, and SMTP-Deliver.
    If all three modules use their maximum allotment of processes, there will be a
    total of 96 processes for IMAP, POP, and SMTP-Deliver.
    <P>
    Local processes are SMTP-Accept, SMTP-Router, Error-Handler, Mailbox-Deliver,
    and other processes that process mail within the Messaging Server. If you set
    this number to 16, there will be 16 processes available for each of these
    modules.
    <P>
    Determining an optimal number for each of these settings requires analysis of
    your configuration and users, as well as some testing. To find a number to
    start with, use these directions. Then try running your server and monitor the
    performance. If you want to optimize the numbers, change them a little bit at a
    time and note if the performance improves or not. After trying a few different
    numbers, you will probably be able to determine a range that works for your
    system. Remember to leave yourself a buffer of extra available processes to
    handle peak traffic, or spikes in traffic that are unexpected.
    <P>
    If you have a SMTP service only, then the maximum number of concurrent network
    processes needs to be around the maximum number of simultaneous messages sent
    plus the number of processes needed to deliver messages. For example, if you have 100
    users per second attempting connections, network processes will be
    100 + 10-50 delivery agents. This value is dependent upon how much mail you send.
    <P>
    If this machine is also used for message pickup,(POP3/IMAP4), you need to
    consider these network processes, too. For example, 1000 IMAP sessions adds 1000
    to the network processes, while POP would add about one quarter to one half as much.
    <P>
    Be careful configuring the maximum number of concurrent local processes. If
    they are configured too high then you have I/O race conditions with processes
    trying to compete for I/O and the CPU. The best approach is to start off with
    around 10 and increase this value in units of 5 observing the drain rate of
    message delivery.

    Go to Performance tab and click Search Sessions. In next page dont specify anything and just click Go. It will show you all DB User Type users in Results grid. You can change that to System User Type.

  • How do you set maximum number of concurrent users to OBIEE

    In a training session for the end users - only 4 users could connect - after this others could not connect - got NQS Error:100118 Access for the connection is refused

    As I don't see any configuration tag to specify concurrent users.
    Try this, go to connection pool (within RPD) and set the maximum number of connections, this does correspond to number of concurrent connections to database but not concurrent users.
