Numbers page break

I have a long spread sheet that I want to print on two pieces of paper and I want to control where the page break is set. How do I do it?
TIA, Bruce

Bruce,
The table can be positioned, after activating it by selecting a cell in it, by grabbing the upper left hand corner handle with the mouse (cursor will change to 4-way arrow).
You may also control the break point by adjusting the margins of the page -- Inspector, Sheet Inspector (2nd from left icon at top), Page Margins.
Also on the Sheet Inspector, you can adjust the scale of your content. There may be cases where you can use Portrait Orientation, maximize the margins and shrink the content a bit to keep everything on one page.
Just a small addition to the other excellent advice you received...

  • How to create page breaks in numbers?

How do I create page breaks in iCloud Numbers?   The spreadsheet I created is 4-5 pages long, but it saves as one long scrolling document, and when it prints, all 4-5 pages are seen (very small, unreadable font) on a single page.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Dave

This excel feature is not exactly available in Numbers.
Here we may create up to 255 sheets in a document. They are reachable from the thumbnails area.
And each sheet may embed up to 255 tables also reachable from the thumbnails area.
Think different or use Excel !

  • How to enter a page break in numbers

how do you enter a page break in numbers?

In Numbers there is no concpet of "entering a page break".  You look at the print preview which you see when you select the menu item "File >Print...".
If the pagination is correct you click the "Print" button.  If not then you click the "Done" button and move content around.  Often I place, temporary, rectangles on a page that take up the full page so I know where to put content, then remove them before printing.

  • How to make a page break in numbers

The only way I found to make a new page in Numbers was to make new rows down to where the page would break, but it's only letting me add a few new rows to the new page.  I'd like to know how to make a page break without just adding rows.

    Hi Yellowbox,
Still I'm not convinced, it gives you indeed some advantages but this page break is a great fault.
All the company is working on Apple, we try even to keep Microsoft away but what when you make a quote of several pages and have to make your lay out at the end, it is a pain in your xxx to make it well.
We cannot make different tables for each page nor I want to make it in Pages with a Numbers table.
Secondly, what do you do when you get a Excell offer that you want to bring to Numbers.
It opens well but again, you need to make all the page lay out afterwards!
    Thanks for yoru reply.
It won't change my mind about Apple and Microsoft but for timing earning I won't changes all Excel offers to Numbers anymore. Even if I do not want, it would take me less time to work it out in Excel.
Our own offers will remain in Numbers ...
It is a pity but time is so important nowadays!
    Nice week-end.

  • How to export pdf from numbers with page breaks

I am trying to export a pdf from numbers that contains page breaks.  When i print the page breaks are created for printing automatically and i like scrolling with no page breaks while working on spreadsheet.  But, if export pdf the file becomes one long scrolling page.  Which is good on screen but when email recipient tries to print, it prints to a single page and type face is impossibly tiny to read.  I would like to export a view in which page breaks are included but can not seam to find the process (i have recently switched  from excel to numbers).

One thing you might try (if you haven't already) is to pretend you are printing your numbers document, but after you press the "Print..." button (perhaps after doing the "Print setup" thing) do "Save as PDF" instead of just printing it.  Presumably, this gives you the PDF that is used to do the print job.

  • What happened to page breaks in Numbers 3.2?

I need Numbers to create a PDF spreadsheet that has actual page breaks instead of one long table.  Why can't I do this??  I frequently need to share spreadsheets with those not using a Mac or any spreadsheet software at all.  But when I export my two page spreadsheet to a PDF, the file is just a long table without breaking it up into two pages.  Perhaps someone could print it and stretch it out over two pages, but I should be able to format how something should look as a PDF and there doesn't seem to be any way to do that.  When I try to insert a page break, the option is grayed out.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Cam,
Instead of Menu > File > Export To... > PDF, do
Menu > File > Print... to get Print Preview.
A large table in Print View (zoomed out for a smaller screen shot)
    The page breaks are inserted.
The Print Setup panel on the right allows you to set the page margins (drag the panel up to see).
Now click on Print... to get the Print Dialogue
    Click on PDF (lower left)
    Save as PDF.
Here is the PDF (zoomed out for a smaller screen shot)
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Incompatible page breaks excel,numbers

I need to use Excel and Numbers for my report cards. Every time I use Excel and then open it in Numbers the page breaks are different. Is there a way that I can format the spreadsheet so the page breaks will not change?

To get the same page breaks, you must use
    the same paper size,
    the same margins
the same headers/footers, the same row heights
    the same columns widths
the same fonts so that there is no extraneous wrap in dome cells.
From my point of view it's something like "Hercules's works'.
If you nead identical layout, use the same app in both worlds.

  • Excel Outputs with Header, page breaks, margins in EBS R12, 10.1.3.2 BI Pub

    Hi All,
We have most of our report outputs as Excel.
Our client is expecting a common format for outputs in excel, with header, margins, page breaks , page numbers
And some of our reports has more than 70 columns
Using RTF, we could not able to manage this. the header or page breaks are being overwritten when it generated the excel outputs.
Please let me know how to achive this.
    Thanks in advance

        Hi Rohit ,
I had copied these .class & .xml files under Myclasses -> oracle.apps.icx and oracle.apps.po and oracle.apps.fnd was same which comes part of the standard OA tutorial.
I copied same under Myprojects as well.
you have to decompile the class file into java file and then place it in Myproject directory , also copy all dependency files like BC4J components , and then
try to run from Jdeveloper .
Alternatively you can get the entire ICX folder and zip it and add it via library .

  • Setting page breaks...how?

    I am new to numbers...
How do you set a page break? In print view, I would expect to simply drag the lines that represent the page breaks to in between the columns where I want the break, but that does not work.
I have a spread sheet that is 1 page tall and 3 pages wide; but, I would like the 3 pages to actually print as 4, with each page having a logical grouping of columns (instead of an arbitrary grouping). Should be simple, but I am missing something.
    thanks
    bob

For sure, you missed the workaround described by badunit.
I set huge header/footer so that we may put required text in these areas.
We may achieve the same goal with huge margins.
This workaround assume that each piece of table has the same number of identical rows.
If this condition is not filled, we may change slightly the height of rows to achieve the wanted goal.
Adding extraneous rows is a viable workaround. We may mask extraneous rows with a white rectangular shape.
I know, these processes are only workarounds but we have to live with what Numbers '09 is able to do until the next major release which perhaps will be iWork '11

  • How do I insert a blank page if my group ends on an odd-numbered page

I have a report that prints out information for 10 regions. We print this report double-sided and put it into a 3-ring binder with 10 divider tabs, one for each region. If the last page for a particular region is an even-numbered page, then everything is OK since the next region begins on an odd-numbered page (the right-hand side of the open 3-ring binder). However, if the last page is an odd-numbered page, this causes the next region to begin on what would be the left-hand side of the open 3-ring binder which is not acceptable. I have considered printing each of the 10 regions separately (a seemingly easy solution, but our pages are required to be numbered consecutively through the regions - and are also of the type Page &Page of &Total_Pages).
How do I create a BLANK PAGE at the end of a region if it ends on an odd-numbered page?
I am using reports version 6i with 9i as my backend database. It just occurred to me that occasionally in printed material, one sees "This page intentionally left blank", usually on the last page of a chapter to permit the following chapter to begin on the right-hand side. If anyone has created a solution to get this "..intentionally left blank" page to print, this seems to be a close fit to what I am trying to do.

I am also trying to do this same thing.
I have followed the text as it is stated in
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/faq9i.htm#43
but it still does not work.
My invisible line prints on every other page, however
my repeating frame prints on every page with no page breaks.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vicki

  • Page breaks in PDF library

    Hi,
How can i provide a page break using PDF library? Whether Indesign CS4  does support page breaks for PDF generation. If the not the API, whether this is possible by creating a Indesign template with page breaks for the data to fit in? Also whether Adobe PDF supports page breaks? Please shed some light into this.
    Thanks,
    Rithu

I Just checked through a few old documents. It appears that numbers used to export PDF files with page breaks and the last update scrapped this in favour of redicusously large one page files.
Is it really that hard to give an option as to how to export a file?

  • Split a TOC over pages: page break in a table of contents

I'd like to be able to put a page break in a TOC. I have a TOC spans a couple of pages. The second page only has a couple of lines in it, so I want to be able to split the TOC on TOC heading 1 with a page break.
I know that I could adjust the styles for the TOC, but this is not a general enough solution for me - it would probably not last long (add new pages, the arbitrary page break is going to move).

This answer assumes that your document uses the Default page style for physical pages 1-3. You are going to need two different page styles to accomplish what you want. (I'm guessing you have used a page number offset of -2 to get your physical page 3 numbered as 1 and this simply will not work in the TOC.)
Put your cursor in the Title page (physical page 1) and open the Stylist (F11). Click the Page icon (4th from left) then click the New Style From Selection icon (2nd from right). Give it a name like 'Body'. Before you close the Stylist double click on Default just to make sure you did not change the style of the 1st page.
While you are still on the 1st page click into the footer and remove the page number field assuming you do not want it.
Put you cursor in the FIRST (1st) paragraph of the 3rd page and do **Format > Paragraph > Text Flow tab. In the Breaks section, check the Enable box, if not already checked, then check the With Page Style box, select the Body style from the drop down menu and set the page number to 1.
If the page number field is still in the footer on this page then delete it and insert it again. It should now show 1.
Click into the TOC, right click and select Update Index/Table.
Just in case you have trouble translating this to your version of SO I have fixed your document and have attached it.
    * *To change to a new page style while writing your document do Insert > Manual Break > Page Break and select the new style. If you want a new page number you can check that box and set the new number.

  • Frustration with Pages to ePub page breaks

Hi. I am losing my mind and hoping someone can help...
I am creating a non-traditional book (a catalog) in Pages, for use in both PDF and ePub formats (for iBooks on iPad). I CANNOT get the page breaks in Pages retained when exported to ePub and viewing on the iPad. I used the "ePub best practices" document as my starting template, then changed it by modifying the layout (margins, etc.), and modifying the styles to the font, color and style I want for look of the PDF version. At one point I had 80% or so of the page breaks in ePub, then after making some edits in the document and exporting again, many of the page breaks disappeared. I've also had headlines and such literally disappear in the ePub version.
The best thing would be to have a method of manually entering a page break in Pages that I KNOW would represent a page break in ePub. Is this possible?
    Please help!

After an insane amount of testing, here are the unwritten rules that I have uncovered (so far) regarding how Pages exports to ePub.
    - The items checked to be used in your TOC (whether you actually have one in your document or not) are what dictate the page/section breaks. This is hugely important because it effects EVERYTHING else, including formatting.
    - Using the option to "Use first page as book cover image" will do so, but will effectively suck it out of the actual book when it displays so that your book will "open" to whatever page is next. This sort of stinks if you would like your book to open to the actual Title Page. One solution to this is to turn this option OFF when exporting, and BE SURE to set the title of your book to one of the Paragraph Styles that you included in your TOC list (see above). This will put your title in the auto-generated TOC *created by your reader* (we'll call this the "Reader TOC"), but it will allow your first page to remain your Title Page and should prevent problems with your formatting.
    - It would seem that ANY time you start a new section in an ePub (Title, Preface, Chapter, etc… and not to be confused with a Section Break in the Pages document itself) it MUST start with a TOC marked style. If you don't you will start to find your formatting will change semi-randomly (I noticed it in left justified headlines becoming centered). You CAN manually modify the format of the text once you have set the correct style (if you want to change the justification or something).
    - Use of the Insert Page/Section Break menu options will have little or no effect in the ePub itself. You can keep them in your Pages document if you like, but *it is the TOC marked styles that completely dictate the section/page breaks in the ePub export.*
    - The auto-generated Table of Contents that Pages can create will be dropped in your ePub. The Reader TOC (the actual one used by the readers) will be recreated by the TOC marked sections as mentioned above. So, you might as well leave it out of a Pages document if you are only exporting to ePub. However, most Reader TOC's are not actually present in the text of the book, which is a little weird. To include a TOC in the book itself, you will need to manually create one (without page numbers since ePub's are reflowable), and then manually link it to "bookmarks" within your book. Be sure to use a TOC marked style for the header ("Table of Contents") so it starts on it's own page. Then go through your book, bookmarking sections that you want as TOC entries. The Link Inspector in the inspector pane is where you will find the bookmarking options. If, like me, you want to add, say, chapter titles as entries in your TOC, then find that title in your text, select it, then hit the "+" to add it as a bookmark. Once you have bookmarked all your sections, then go back to the text in your TOC, select an entry, and hyperlink it to one of your bookmarks. Repeat. The manual TOC will be visible in your book, and clickable to your chapters/sections.
    - Some formatting works, some doesn't. You might have to experiment here. I would stay away from anything too "non-standard", such as rules and borders. Margin padding seems to be okay, as does BOLD and ITALIC. Text size will also apply, but some readers reset this, so don't count on it.
    - If you can set a font beyond sans-serif or serif, I haven't found a way to do it. Readers are probably going to reset this anyway. Think "web-fonts" available in standard HTML at best.
    - You CAN include graphics, but they MUST be "inline" and NOT "floating". This is nice if you want to include some simple graphic ligatures to mark the end of a chapter or something.
    Hope it helps… Good luck!

  • Trouble with ordered list & page breaks

I'm using Framemaker 10. I was using numbering and selected Numbered Next, but FM started numbering from 1, although there were previous numbers up to 4. This has never happened before. Also in the same document, FM is sometimes forcing a page break whenever I mark text as a heading. Any ideas?

The numbering issue all depends upon how the numbering is defined in the paratag and if or which series is being used. Some paragraph before your NumberedNext is in the same series and is resetting the numbering back to 0.
Again, it all depends upon the settings in the specific heading parattag that you are using. It could be set to start at the top or it could also be set to keep with next and this is causing it to roll over on to the next page.

  • Exporting report to Word, Word editable or RTF adds page breaks

Our workforce management software (Aspect Workforce Management) uses Crystal 2008 for customer reports.  Previewing, printing, and exporting to HTML, PDF, and Excel all work fine but exporting the report to Word, Word Editable, and RTF results in a document that contains extra page breaks in the middle of pages or other strange paging behavior.
With the regular Word export and the RTF export we see some pages containing the first half of the page at the top of a page followed by a break then the second half of the page on the next page at the bottom of the page.  E.G., lots of empty whitespace at the bottom of a page followed by lots of empty whitespace at the top of the next page which ends with content that should have been at the bottom of the previous page.
The Word Editable export doesn't seem to insert weird page breaks but every page says 1 of N as the page number in the footer.  Other export formats number the pages correctly.
Our customers are demanding a fix for this problem, which seems to be a Crystal defect.  I don't understand why PDF and HTML and Excel all page correctly but not Word, Word Editable, or RTF.  How hard is it to generate the export without causing extra page breaks or incorrectly numbered pages?
Is this problem acknowledged by SAP to be defect in the word, word editable, and rtf export options?  Is SAP intending to fix this problem?
    John Hansen

And good morning to you too John:
So, if you wrote the code your self and it is in .NET, why was the issue posted to the SAP Crystal Reports Design forum rather than the .NET - SAP Crystal reports forum? Note that each forum as a nice description in the header as to what sort of questions should be posted in that forum. In light of you posting the issue to the SAP Crystal Reports Design forum, I feel it was a pretty fair to ask the questions I did ask... (?).
I feel that the way this communication is going, it may be a good idea if you do a bit of searching on these forums. Also, use the search box at the top right corner of this page (it will give you results for KBases, blogs, wikis, articles and more...)
If you do not get what you need from that, it will be best for you to create a phone case here:
