Numeric formating on Flash Charts - How to?

Hello,
I have a 2D Flash Chart in APEX3 that uses a numeric field for the "Value" in the Series. It works, but since the number is large, the resulting Chart is hard to read as-is.
I want to format the "Value"/Y-Axis column (adding commas) but haven't been able to figure out how to do this. Each to_char or other format trick I try results in a Chart Query Validation error, things like
to_char(col1,'999,999,999') or (col1/1000) or anything really,

I saw that tip on an existing post when I scanned the forum and I tried it without effect, but I must have not hit Apply or done something else wrong; once I set the group separator, my commas appeared.
Thanks Raj.

  • Flash Charts - How to manipulate the #data# replacement string in XML

    I have a problem with the XML file for a flash chart. I am trying to display a 2dColumn chart of an SQL query with the general form:
    select null link, x as name, sum(y) as value from z group by (x);
    this generates multiple rows, which are displayed as a bar in the chart. So far so good. The problem is, that each row is defined as a block in the chart, but only one name entry is created "value", which is displayed in the legend of the chart.
    I can display the block names on the x-axis of the chart, however, I can't rotate them, so that they don't overlap in the display, which I would be able to do with names. I assume, that the blocks are defined in the #data# replacement string of the XML file. I would like to change the generated XML replacement string from the SQL to make each row selected a different name, and only have one block ("value").
    What would be the easiest way to achieve this?

    user587996,
    There's no way to manipulate the #data# replacement directly, but you could generate your own XML (see Re: Apex changing nulls to zeroes when creating Flash Charts for one way to do it).
    When you say "I can't rotate them, so that they don't overlap in the display" -- have you tried the Labels Rotation chart attribute, or is that not working?

  • Flash Chart Format / Mask Numbers

    Hi everone,
    I want to ask you if someone know how to put in a format mask to the numbers on a flash chart, for example, instead of display 2542169 displays something like this: 2,542,169.87
    I created an example flash chart in order to show you more clearly: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33253:10
    Thanks a lot!,
    Fury

    Edit your Flash Chart Attribute. Go to Axes Settings attribute. For attribute Show Group Separator select 'Yes'. for attribute Decimal Places specify '2' and you'll get what you are looking for.

  • Flash chart formatting

    Hi everyone,
    Can someone explain or point me in the direction of some documentation that can explain how to format the apex flash charts?
    I'd really like to be able to edit the colours on the chart beyond the inbuilt 'Look1; Look2' etc
    thanks heaps!
    Kieran

    Nevermind, apparently once you create the chart you can then use custom colours.
    My mistake :)

  • How to turn off scrollbars in Flash chart legend

    I recently migrated an Apex 3 app over to Apex 4. In the process I upgraded all of the Flash charts as well. Now, I get vertical scrollbars in some of the legends.
    How can I turn those scrollbars off? I don't see any settings in the UI and I haven't been able to work out the proper arguments in the XML to do it manually.
    Thanks for any pointers!

  • How can I tell that a default numeric format has been applied to a numeric limit step?

    I am working on generating custom HTML code for our test systems in order to reduce the 'footprint' of the standard HTML entries for numeric limits, multiple-numeric limit steps etc....
    For a Numeric Limit step, I can set the Numeric Format via the 'Limits' tab and select the pulldown arrow to select any format.  Does TestStand actually save this information with the step so I could possibly use this later?   I ask this because my modifications are within the 'ModifyReportEntry' Callback.   When I am modifying the code to generate new HTML within this callback, I have no idea if the developer has selected a Numeric Format for a given step OR simply left it as DEFAULT.
    To make matters more confusing, here is some more information....
    When I pause the execution in the callback I notice the following:
    Case 1:  User has selected a Numeric Format ( this example I will say 3 digits of precision ) %.3f. for a numeric limit step.
    Parameters.Result.Limits.Low = 10.000
    Parameters.Result.Limits.High = 20.000
    Parameters.Result.Numeric = 15.657
    Notice the numeric data is ALREADY formatted! Great, I can simply use this to generate my custom HTML table for the numeric limit step.
    Case 2 : User has left the numeric format to <Default> for the step.
    Parameters.Result.Limits.Low = 10
    Paramters.Result.Limits.High = 20
    Parameters.Result.Numeric = 15.65713515155
    Numeric data is NOT formatted.  I know that TestStand will apply the Default Numeric Format that is configured in the report options when it writes the report but since I am doing a custom report I am stuck.
    My question is how can I possibly tell that the data has already been formatted by TestStand in the ModifyReportEntry callback?  Is there some flag that I could check or anything?
    I do notice that the Parameters.ReportEntry string contains TestStand's default HTML code for the step and this is already properly formatted.. so as a possible workaround I could 'pick out' the data from this string but this is slow and time consuming.
    Thanks
    PH

    PH,
    You can find out if the numeric format has changed using the TestStand API. I use the following statement in my step's post-expression to find out the numeric format that TestStand uses for the step.
    Step.Limits.Low.NumericFormat
    If the string returned is an empty string, then it is the default format, otherwise, it's the one specified in the string.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to format a flash drive on my mac book pro

    I have a mac book pro, but at school they just use PC's. I need to be able to save my homework on my flash drive at home and bring it into class and open it up on the PC. The programs I am using are the Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver,etc.) and they will let you go back and forth between the mac and the PC. The problem is that I used my flash drive to save my homework, no problem, but after a while it didn't work anymore.
    I was told at school, I needed format my flash drive(when it was new) on my mac and then it would be fine to go back and forth. My old flash drive that is messed up, they said just to re-format it on the mac and then it would be fine. How do you do either of those things? Sorry this is so wordy.

    Does the older flash drive work on a PC still, cec? If not it may simply be defective. Flash drives can live a hard life!
    You shouldn't need to reformat your new stick. I very much doubt that the failure of the old one has anything at all to do with the fact that it wasn't formatted on a Mac .
    What OS are you using, by the way? Your various posts seem to say different things.
    Just by the way many smaller/older memory sticks will be formatted as FAT-16 rather than FAT-32. Disk Utility , from memory , will actually automatically do this if the drive is under a certain size.
    see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FileAllocationTable#Future :
    +FAT is still the normal file system for removable media (with the exception of CDs and DVDs), with FAT12 used on floppies, and FAT16 on most other removable media (such as flash memory cards for digital cameras and USB flash drives). Most removable media are not yet large enough to benefit from FAT32, although some larger flash drives, like SDHC, do make use of it. FAT16 is used on these drives for reasons of compatibility and size overhead.+

  • How to store numeric format data in a database

    In order to properly format a report generated from data stored in a database using a TestStand schema,
    I would like to add formating information for numeric values to the database.
    My intent was to store the numeric format string data in a separate column in the MEAS_NUMERICLIMIT table in the database.
    By using this format string I can then format the numeric values in my report.
    I have successfully retrieved the numeric format string by calling the 'NI TestStand API 3.0', using the ActiveX/COM adapter.
    In the 'PropertyObject' class there is an action called 'Get Property'.
    This action can retrive the 'NumericFormat' property for a given object reference.
    The problem is that I don´t know HOW to do this in the dat
    abase logging schema.
    Can I use this method in the API to retrive and store the numeric format string in the database??
    Or is there any other way of achieving this functionality?
    All ideas for solutions are appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Yes you can. I think it would be helpful if you explain in more detail what you are trying to do.
    >>>> Basically I am trying to reproduce the data sheet created by test stand by using the data in the database.
    Are you using an NI default schema or have you already customized it?
    >>>> I already have a custom schema that I created many years ago, But if I have to start with a 'newer' default schema it wouldn't be to much of a problem to incorporate my changes into it. (I had added Model number and Comment to UUT result table and provided support for custom step types, the custom step types are based on the default NumericLimit step type )
    If default, what about the schema is insufficient for what you want to do?
    >>>> In order to generate a datasheet from the data in the database that replicates the datasheet produced by teststand, I need the Formatted values for the test results and the test limits. So I'm thinking it would be easier for me to query the database for the formatted numbers (as strings) instead of having to query the database for the 'numeric value' and the 'format string' and then creating the string for my datasheet.
    Is the data and limits that you are trying to log custom properties or or is this for the NI numeric or multi-numeric step type?
    >>>> No using custom properties, just dealing with 'NumericLimit' step types
    I had looked at how the 'SequentialModel.Seq' calls the modelsupport2.dll to  to produce the data sheet entries.
         ProcessModelPostResultListEntry >
         Process Step Result >
         Get Step Result Body (Sequence) >
         Add Flagged Values >
         modelsupport2.dll >
         GetFlaggedValuesForReport_Html
    But, alas, I don't understanding the whole traversing concept.

  • How to save a Flash Chart to a local file

    We created a Flash Chart page with Apex 3.1.2. After this 2D line Flash Chart displayed on the screen, is there a way to save it to the user's local machine? So they can view or print the chart they saved later on.
    I have found some info. on anychart.com, http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/index.html?SaveAsImage.html. But I don't understand how to implements those steps in Apex and/or on the localhost running APEX.
    Thanks.
    -Michele

    Michele,
    Method 1:
    If you goto any test interactive report page in your apex application and from the actions menu, choose the chart option, pick the type of chart and the label and value column, click apply to display the chart.
    You can then right click the chart to show the version being used and the 'save to image' option will be there if it is version 4.
    Method 2:
    In anychart 3.x, each type of chart has a different flash file to reference from the apex page.
    In anychart 4.x, each type of chart references the same flash file, they were combined into one for ease of deployment, etc.
    This flash file is normally located in the apex images structure /images/flashchart/swf/AnyChart.swf
    Your path to images may differ. If you have this file, then version 4 is already installed
