  • Support for nvidia gtx-980 for after effects and premiere

Can someone tell me when Adobe is going to give CUDA support for the Nvidia gtx-980 video cards in After Effects and Premiere CS6?  I purchased this card specifically for those programs, and DON'T want to do a subscription to Creative Cloud.  I purchased the Master Collection through Adobe, and understand that CC versions support it.  Why can't Adobe issue a btch file or update to include these cards.  I am aware of OpenGl support, but I would like to add my new card.  I also just purchased an i7-4790K to upgrade from i5-3570 to help speed up rendering, but would really like to see the video card supported.

    The simple answer is no.

Sorry for my english , i'm french.
I need your help because when i read a video in 4K , it's not fluid.
    I have a GTX 980 and 16 GB Ram, Intel Core i7 3770.

    Bonjour Gauthier,
I need your help because when i read a video in 4K , it's not fluid.
    I have a GTX 980 and 16 GB Ram, Intel Core i7 3770.
Check your Project Settings > General. Under Video Rendering and Playback > Renderer, is it set to "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA)?" If not, enable it, and then see if your performance improves.
    Thanks,

  • Premiere CC 2014.1 and Nvidia GTX 980 problem

Installed my new GTX 980. One problem that came up is intermittant crashing when all screens flash black followed by an error code "3" stating there is a problem with the video driver. I must reboot system. Nvidia says its a TDR problem and I must contact the developer of Premiere to get a fix? Any help out there?

    Hi OCA,
I verified this on both Mac and Windows. Thanks for reporting this, and sorry if this causes you workflow issues. I filed a bug about this. Please file a bug report, as well: http://adobe.ly/ReportBug
All others affected by this bug, please also file a bug report. I would like to see this get fixed ASAP. Your bug reports will assist that.

  • Nvidia GTX 980 Slow Playback and Rendering on 36 Core Dual Xeon

I have a Dual Xeon e5 2699 v3 machine (18 cores per CPU; 36 physical; 72 Logical).  I am processing Red Dragon footage at 6K resolution and 60 Frames per Second.  I have a Red Rocket-X card as well as Four (4) GTX-980 Nvidia GPUs.  When I try to use the Mercury Playback engine the performance is pitiful.  When I select CPU/Software only I get over 120 fps.  The Adobe CC software ONLY uses One of the Two CPUs installed on the system at any one time, it is like it doesn't see the other CPU even though Windows acknowledges that both are there and working (Cinema 4D and Cinebench use all 72 logical cores and will max them all out).  However, even with the Adobe CC Software only seeing 1 of 2 CPUs, the CPU playback is still way faster than the Mercury Playback/CUDA version.  This makes no sense to me sense the GTX-980s are the fastest/newest cards from Nvidia.  I have read that Premiere CC will only use one GPU for playback but will use multiple cards for renders.  HOWEVER, when rendering GPU-z says that each of my cards is working at less than 25% of capacity.  The rest of the system is NOT the bottle neck, I have 256Gb of DDR4 RAM, along with 12-1Tb SSDs attached to a 12 Channel 12Gb/s e-SATA card with 8Gb of RAM on the card.  I am getting sustained transfers on the RAID of over 2 Gigabytes per second.
I have invested a lot in this machine in an effort to save rendering time.... Adobe's recommendation for multiple CPUs and Multiple Graphics cards don't seem to matter as my render times are no faster than they were using FCP-X on a 2010 12 core MacPro Tower.
I hope it is just a driver or programming issue that relates to the 2699's and the GTX980 being so new???
    Any Help would be appreciated,
    Michael

    Bill,
Thank you for making the time.  I followed your instructions, great little piece of software.  Here is a screen shot when I ran my test...
As you can see even on your test, only 1 CPU is being used by Premiere.  The results from the benchmark were uploaded under the computer name RedShredder (I use it to edit and render Red Dragon 6k footage).
The results from you output file are as follows:  "32","44","8","206",Premiere Version:, 8.2.0.65
I couldn't register at the site but will try again later.
My concern is that no matter what I do Premiere and the entire Creative Cloud ONLY see ONE CPU on my Dual Xeon system.  Sometimes it will run on the other one and you can force it to by changing the processor affinity selection but no matter what, even if you click all cores on both CPUs it will still pick one and just run on that processor.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Michael

  • 2nd GTX-980 Gaming 4G arrived for dual SLI

My secong 980 Gaing 4G arrived yesterday and my benchmarks are looking good: http://www.modsrigs.com/detail.aspx?BuildID=34135
My first 980 was hitting 1500 MHz with a +146 boost using MSI Afetrburner but this second board is holding it back. I had to back off my Primary board to +140 and kick my Secondary board to +160 to get them to run at 1476 Mhz. My first 980 went above and beyond advertised specs while the second 980 is running at exactly the advertised specs. My question: Is there away to flash the BIOS of my second board to get equal performance from both boards? Thanks for any replies. Yes, I know it's a dumb question.

Better question: Will this boost the performance of both boards or lock it to advertised timings?
they will has the same clocks

I have never flashed a video board's BIOS except for when I used the 'Fan Unlocker' BIOS tool for my EVGA GTX-570 s/c boards. Do you have a tutorial listed any where on these forums? Is it safe to use this guide: http://www.trickmasterpc.com/
extract all files, then go to device manager and disable both GTX-980 Gaming 4G cards.
then right click on flash.cmd and select run as administrator
then answer with "Y" to all questions and wait flash to finish
when its all is done, reboot the computer

  • Nvidia GTX 280-A good choice for video editing?

SO for the longest time now I have been having weird playback trouble with editing. I didn't think too much about it then because I didn't care that much about quality. This was when I was rockin CS3 and my card was an 8600 GTS. Recently I got a new computer with a sweet setup. It is an intel core 2 Quad @9550 with a GTX 280, 780i SLI board, and 5 gigs of DDR 2 ram. Yet, despite this, when ever I play footage into premiere, the images becomes slightly fuzzy in playback. This would not irritate as much as when I export it, The quality is just as bad. I uploaded HD footage off of a P2 card, exported it, and when you play it; it looks interlaced! The footage also looks like is did in premiere, very fuzzy. Now that I'm starting to get into the realm of HD this crap needs to stop. Does anyone have any ideas?

The fuzziness in your preview monitor is probably because you have the preview quality set to "automatic" or "draft". If you set it to "Highest Quality" it should look very good, albeit possibly pretty harsh on your processors.
At the bottom of your preview monitor look for a tiny icon that looks like 3 circles, click that and that's where you change the preview quality setting. This does NOT in any way affect the export, by the way.
The bad quality in your exports is a different story. We'd need exact specs as to what format, codecs, bitrates etc. you are exporting to.

  • Exporting in Premiere Pro with a GTX 980 CUDA takes 4 hours

Okay, this problem has been plaguing me ever since I upgraded to a new PC with some very high end hardware. I'm trying to export a 25 minute h.264 encoded mp4 file from an AVI video and PCM audio source, however, exporting it using YouTube 1080p preset takes over 4 hours. This used to never happen before, even on my old laptop which had a GTX 675M card and would take 1.5 hours at most.
The source files I use through video capture is AVI with MPEG-1(VBR) 1920x1080 resolution with 29.97 frames/second. The audio source is PCM WAV 48.0KHz stereo.
The preset I have for exporting in Premiere Pro/AME CC 2014 is:
video: h.264 format, 1.0 square pixel, 29.97 frames/second, Progressive scan
    bitrate: VBR(1 pass), target/max: 8.0 Mbps
    audio: AAC 192kbps, 48kHz stereo
The hardware I am using is a Gigabyte x99 ud-4 motherboard with G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz RAM, i7-5820K CPU 3.30 GHz, Windows 7 64bit OS, with an Nvidia GTX 980 card with CUDA enabled in both Premiere and the Nvidia Control Panel. Yet, I am still getting over 4 hours rendering time during my exports for a 20-30min video source? I  am completely stumped on this and it's unbelievably frustrating to see my top of the line system take so long to render this file when my 2-3 year old laptop did the export in 1/3rd of that time? I do this as a hobbyist and any help on trying to get this fixed would be a major help to me. Thank you in advance!

    Hmmm...
I did a quick test in your behalf with a test project with and without "alpha glow" applied to all of the media.
The results were actually kind of strange:
    - export to .mp4 utilized all cores (6-core box w/ Hyperthreads) with a smooth 82% utilization for the whole export; memory usage (also from task manager) went up and once it hit a maximum, it stayed there
    - export to .mp4 with "alpha glow" applied -> CPU usage started out pretty good, then memory usage maxed out and then actually cam down; after a bit, the CPU usage stabilized at around 22%, or about 25% of what it had been at the start of the export
Smells to me like an Adobe bug or design-flaw.
Anyway, good luck with your testing.
I totally agree with Bill's suggest to do a full PPBM7 test on your new rig and report the scores back here - and to the PPBM7 site of course. This will help you to have confidence in your new hardware and setup. Once your hardware and configuration (for Win7, drive caching, Premiere settings, etc.) are working fine, then your particular workflow, etc. can be a separate troubleshooting step.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    Jim

  • NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 980 supported by Adobe CC?

    Hey Adobe,
    Quick question: I'm upgrading my PC and need to know;
Is the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 980 Graphics card (GPU) supported by Adobe CC?
Specifically premier Pro / After effects / Photoshop and Audition.
It's not on your list of supported cards page...
    Thanks!

The GTX 980 works well with:
"Specifically premier Pro / After effects / Photoshop and Audition"
The only GPU acceleration worth talking about is Premiere Pro, and yes it does that fine.

Is the  AVGA GTX 980 works with adobe after affect  and premier  need to upgrade my video card  thanks

What is AVGA?  Did you mean EVGA?
Yes the GTX 980 works with Premiere.  After Effects only uses the GPU for one function so it does not really matter much

  • VBIOS for my MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G request

    Hi,
May I request VBIOS for my MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G S/N: 602-V317-03SB1409089224?
If possible please provide me with original NV317MH.111 that came with graphic card and the newest one.
PS. I upgraded NV317MH.111 to NV317MH.130 by means of MSI Live Update and now when using MSI Gaming APP to switch speed profiles, the GPU speed values shown in GPU-Z don't match the speeds for original Silent, Game and OC profiles for this card. What's wrong?

    nVidia drivers uninstalled.
