NW DS - jsp preview
I'm using NW Developer Studio 2.0.6. When I'm creating a jsp file, I'd like to have possibility of preview of this jsp. Is there some view, which can accomplish this requirement?

Hi,
You can automate the preview process by publishing it to local portal client. You can install portal irj locally and publish it an check it before publishing it to Enterprise portal.

WSAD: Evaluating JSP includes in JSP Preview
Hello. I am a newbie to WSAD 5.0 and am trying to figure out how to get it to Evaluate JSP includes when I select to preview the JSP. Right now it does not evaluate the include and just leaves that tag in the generated HTML code.

->DaveThe preview mode doesn't evaluate the includes as it's not running the full jsp engine.
To get what you want, right click on your jsp in the navigator view and select "Run on server".
That will open a browser window and show your jsp in all it's magnificence.

JSP Preview Mode in JDeveloper 10g
Is there a way to see a JSP page in preview mode within JDeveloper? Eclipse provides a plugin but I don't see that in JDeveloper, I can see the JSP page in design mode but not in preview mode. Isn't there a way Jdeveloper can preview the jsp page using some inbuild web server or using Jboss etc.
You can just press run and you'll see the page in a browser window :-)

My problem is that I can not find the reason for this. OK I have an error with the JSP Compiler, but where can I find what error I have?Hi!
I found the reason in another trace file. The problem was no less memory.
After we fixed this problem. Everything worked again.

File not found - opening files from appXplorer
Quite strange this one. Bear in mind, I've just started my first JSP project. So if I get some terminology wrong, please be gentle. :)
OK; start up NitroX and open the three files I have (two in web/ one in pages/). index.jsp includes two of the other files (using <%@include/> directive)
All is well, it recognises that they are included and the top-level tag references and variables are available in the included pages.
When I edit and save any one of the pages, all the other pages loose thier references. Variables and tags become unresolved. If I then close the page and try and reopen it, I get an alert box with "The file file:/x:/webapps/root/cars/pages/config.jsp cannot be found".
Any changes I make and save are successful. Restarting NitroX fixes the problem, but it happens again as soon as I save the first time. X: is a network drive, but it's actually a network drive on my machine.
Any suggestions? Configuration dump follows:

* "X: is a network drive, but it's actually a network drive on my machine." - Is "X" a mapped drive to one of your shared folder on network?
* What is the project directory structure with respect to WEB-INF/web.xml? Are you able to see the three pages (from web & pages folder) in NitroX Editor?
* Does the modified content appear in "Design view" of index.jsp upon restarting NitroX?
Ex:
- modify one of the pages in "web" folder > save the file (alert appears)
- restart NitroX, does index.jsp display the modified content of included page?
* If possible please send the test case project which exhibits the behavior to [email protected]

Print & Print Preview in JSP application?
Hi,
I moved from swing to JSP. Trying to convert same Swing
application to JSP application.In the swing application I used
PRINT method in JPanel classes which implements PRINTABLE
interface to format and print the data to the printer. Also I
developed my own class to print preview the data(on a JFrame)
before sending to the printer. So, each screen had print and
print preview abilities.
Now I’d like to have this functionality in JSP application too.
Would appreciate to advice me if I could used same print preview
java class(developed for swing application) in JSP application.
If yes, please explain how. If No, please advice me how could I
have print and print preview ability in JSP application.

As you probably know, many java client functionalities will
not map to JSP client functionality. That is why some people

Gateway Timeout error when running JSP page in 10.1.3 preview
I am unable to run a JSF JSP page with nothing in it but text. I get an error in the browser:
Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
[code=GATEWAY_TIMEOUT] A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request.
The url is:
http://82.123.84.247:8988/ListProto2-ViewController-context-root/faces/test.jsp
My laptop uses DHCP and 82.123.84.247 is currently my IP address. If I change the url to use localhost instead of the IP address, the page displays without error. I tried changing Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy to exclude the proxy for 82.123.84.247 (localhost was already excluded), but this didn't help.
I saw a post from a year ago where someone had the same problem with an earlier version of JDev, so I don't think it is specific to the preview release. It must be some kind of setup problem. Unfortunately, no one responded to the other post.Hi Vicki,
Under the main menu, pick:
Tools | Embedded OC4J Server Preferences
and visit the "Startup" panel in that dialog.
For the "Host Name or IP Address Used to Refer to the Embedded OC4J" field, click the (*) Specific Host Name option, and type in "localhost" for the host name.
That usually fixes it for me. -
Can't view JSP in Preview Page in NWDS
Hi all,
I cannot see the preview page for jsp editor when i double clicking the jsp file. It gives this error "Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable".
I think i know why it becomes like that. I want to view a jsp page and i click open with notepad. and now i cannot view the jsp editor inside NWDS. May i know how to revert it so that i can see the preview again.?

JSP 2.0 with JDev 10g (9.0.5.0.0) preview
Hi everybody,
Is it possible to compile JSP 2.0 files with JDev 10g. If so, how ?
I added a new library named JSP20 Runtime which points to the JSP jars from OC4J 10G (10.0.3). I added this library to my project in replacement of the default JSP Runtime library. It seems that something else must also be done to compile my JSP.
Got any idea ?
After this, to run my JSP, I must also figure how I can bypass the default embedded OC4J and use the preview version of OC4J 10.0.3. Will it be mandatory to deploy my project to the standalone OC4J ?

9.0.3 Preview - Class not found error after including jsp:useBean
Hi,
I got a Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError while compiling a JSP Page, after including a simple web bean as follows:
<jsp:useBean id="catviews" scope="request" class="CategoryView" />
<jsp:setProperty name="catviews" property="*" />
somewhere within the HTML page...
<%= catviews.getCategory() %>
The JSP page without the bean compiles fine and the Javabean itself compiles without error. The bean class is where JDev automatically puts it (i.e in a sub-directory of the classes directory within the project) and JDev does not raise any error on that JSP Page before compiling.
The error seems to point to the first line of the page, to the directive of the JSP page:
<%@ contentType="text/html" ... %> which is apparently harmless. What can be wrong ?
Thanks for your reply.'Class not found' means 'Class not found' , the class you are referencing is not in your project's classpath. You should make sure your project's classpath point to the location where this class is deployed to. This could be a directory or a .jar file. You should also include the package name as part fo the class.

Inconsistency problem with Image preview using ImageServlet -JSP
I have a Servlet that reads Images ( JPG) from file system and sends bites to response,
Code works fine and I can see the Image, Problem is that it is very Inconsistent sometimes I can see image and sometimes I see the red X mark instead of image,
if I refresh the page wih shift key holding, the image shows up.
when the image was obsent I can right click the image and go to properties and see the image path and it was correct.
any one has similar experiences with Images before ?

server name is XVideoOCX.I have attached 1 example.Still I am facing
the same problem that I am not getting disply from more than 1 web
cam.So would you be able to advice me,what should I do regarding this

Previewing an image before uploading
Hi,
I would like to upload images in my application and save those uploaded images to one folder in my system, i could do that with any problem. But i have to preview the image before uploading.
How to do this in JSP or either in html?
please help me in doing this..
thanks in advanceWrite the image to some temporary location in your server machine. Either public or non-public. If non-public, you could use a servlet to display the image. If the end user has somehow confirmed the preview, then just move that image to the desired permanent location.
Working with file paths isn't going to work. IE is the only browser which is so dumb that it sends the complete client side file path along with the file name. In other browsers you won't know from which client side path the image is been uploaded. -
Bridge CS4 attempt to Refresh Preview or Save output causes crash in Mac OS 10.8.2
Ever since installing Mountain Lion, I can no longer create contact sheets in Adobe Bridge CS4, which I was always able to do before installing ML. As soon as I press "Refresh Preview," or just try to SAVE the Output (PDF) without refreshing the preview, Bridge crashes with the report below. This is on a MacPro 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 20 MB RAM, OS 10.8.2. Ideas gratefully accepted!

Not sure the link works, sometimes they are country specific but otherwise check the downloads at Adobe.com
Did you try it in a new user account just for testing. Sometimes check and repair permissions using Apple Disk Utility (or 3th party like Cocktail) will also help.
And finally I should point you to the fact that due to a new upgrade policy from Adobe you have until 31 december this year to profit from the upgrade price for PS CS6, after the 1st of january 2013 you will have to pay the full license price for CS6. -
Error, package does not exist, thrown when calling jsp page
Hi
I have downloaded sample jsp pages for interaction with Crystal reports. When I compile these jsp pages in NetBeans 3.6 there are no problems. When I deploy these pages and associated libraries to Tomcat 5, I get the following error when attempting to call the jsp page, but all the jars used in NetBeans are present in the web-inf/lib directory and I have looked in the jars and found classes in the com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer package. I have been unable to find any information after googling and looking at the jakarta bug database. What am I doing wrong?

I understand that if placed in the common directory the jar will be available to all webapps but why does it make a difference whether a jar file is placed under the $TOMAT_HOME/common/lib or $TOMAT_HOME/webapps/appname/web-inf/lib directory if I only need to access the jar from one webapp?
