OAS 10g Problem Connection POOL

I create a connecction pool in OAS 10g to connect a Oracle 10g database. I test te connection and is OK, but when I finish and tested again an error ocurs ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied". I don't now what the problem is?. Can anyone helpme?

hi,
In oas10g,Check ur formweb.cfg
There might be an entry as follows
userid=xyz/efd@abcde
Actually here u specify user-name(xyz) password(efd) and the database name(abcde)which u have specified in tnsname.ora file
Any doubts let me know

  • Rookie Problem:Connection Pool Class not found

    Hi All,
    I'm new to java (3 days now!) and I was writing some sample JSP code to learn about Connection Pooling using Sun Server 8... My goal here is to hopefully learn how to use Connection pooling so I can develop a DAO class that uses good design patterens. It appears that that my J2EE server is not finding my db providers connection pooling class. If this is my problem where should I add this reference? I was looking at the Admin Console and did not see a way to add it there?
    Someone please send me down the right path :)
    I think my error is...."Wrong class name or classpath for Datasource Object : {0}
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2ConnectionPoolDataSource" (see below for trace)
    Thanks in advance for the help and tips

    Sorry this is not the way i usually handle db connectivity, i think you need to set up a name in your server.xml file (this is for tomcat based applicatin servers) which is then referenced in your jsp file. I have had a quick google and found this.
    http://manual.evolutionhosting.com/evochunk/ch19s04.html
    You menttioned that you wanted to devolp really good design patterns, how big is your project going to be, if it is going to be a large project then you may want to look at

  • OAS 10g and connecting to MySql

    Hi. Is it possible to have an application on Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3.5.0) connected to MySql database?
    I tried to set up JDBC data source (I copied a MySql connector into home\lib directory), but my attempts always end with error:
    An error has occurred.
    Error invoking method: createNativeDataSource on MBean: oc4j:j2eeType=J2EEApplication,name=default,J2EEServer=standalone
    Do you have any experience with this? Is it possible at all ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Jnejedly,
    When you say that you copied a MySql connector into home\lib directory I think you refer to the %ORACLE_HOME%/j2ee/home/applib directory, which would be fine.
    The error message seems to indicate that you have not created a native data source. You can use the Application Server Console to create a native data source as follows:
    jndi-name="jdbc/MyDS"
    description="Native DataSource" data-source-class="com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlDataSource"
    user="user"
    password="password"
    url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/mydatabase">
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    Cris

  • Oracle Application server connection pool and database links

    I am using Oracle application server 10g with connection pools, the db used by the application connects to another oracle db using a database link. My question is when the application starts it creates 10 connections, does it also create x amount of database links as well?

    Hi,
    Is there any way to use the connection pool or Datasource while connecting to database?If I am using a stateless sesssion bean and using a Data Access layer which just creates a database session to write the persistence toplink objects how I can make use of application server connection pool?Hi Vinod,
    Yes, TopLink allows you to use the app server's connection pooling and transaction services. Chapter 2 of the Oracle9iAS TopLink Foundation Library Guide provides details as do the TopLink examples. The easiest way to set this up is by using the sessions.xml file. The sample XML below is from the file <toplink903>\examples\ias\examples\ejb\sessionbean\sessions.xml. Here we are adding the datasource defined in OC4J and specifying that we are using the OC4J transaction controller also.
    <login>
    <user-name>sa</user-name>
    <password></password>
    <datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbJTSDataSource</datasource>
    <uses-external-transaction-controller>true</uses-external-transaction-controller>
    <uses-external-connection-pool>true</uses-external-connection-pool>
    </login>
    <external-transaction-controller-class>oracle.toplink.jts.oracle9i.Oracle9iJTSExternalTransactionController</external-transaction-controller-class>
    When using this approach you need to change your TopLink code slightly in the EJB methods:
    a. Acquire the ACTIVE unit of work from the server
    session (again, see the EmployeeSessionEJB code
    example) with something like:
    UnitOfWork uow = clientSession.getActiveUnitOfWork();
    b. Calls to uow.commit() can be ommitted or commented out
    because the EJB will handle this. Note that of course
    the methods you create in the EJB that are using this
    approach must have TX Required (default).
    Hope this helps.

  • Connection pooling problem in TopLink with JBoss4.0.3

    Hi All
    I am using JBoss4.0.3SP1 with TopLink-10g(9.0.4.5) and Sybase as database. I am implementing connection pooling of JBoss with Sybase. I have done all the changes in JBoss mapping files.
    Now to enable connection pooling in TopLink I have set the <uses-external-connection-pooling> attribute in sessions.xml file to true and I have added <datasource> attribute corresponding to the datasource defined in JBoss. It is working fine but when I delete the username, password...etc attribute from the sessions.xml then I am not able to get the session from datasource.
    Can anyone tell me what to do or where I am making mistake? Any help on this will be appreciated

    I tried that code also but the project object that I am getting is null which is in this line
    DatabaseLogin login = (DatabaseLogin)mySession.getProject().getLogin();
    mySession is an object of oracle.toplink.sessions.Session interface but when I call this method then it returns me a null object of Project class, so I am getting NullPointerException error. I tried to do this stuff by many ways but I am always getting the NullPointereException in setLogin() method of Session. This is the stackTrace of the error.....

  • Java Connection Pooling issue with Oracle 10g Express Edition

    Hello
    I have a Java based web application that uses the Oracle 10g Express Edition database. I am using a connection pool to get connections to the database.
    I use the NetBeans IDE and run my web application on the bundled Tomcat server(5.5.7) that comes with the IDE. Though when I initially run the application from the IDE, the connection pool is set up fine, when I recompile my java code and try to run the application again, I get the following error each time:
    Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12516, TNS:listener could not find available handler with the
    matching protocol stack.
    The logs before the error shows up, indicate that the connection pool object is fine and gives me the number of available connections and the number of active connections and so on, which I have printed from the constructor of the Connection Pool class:
    For e.g.:
    Cache size = 17
    Available Connections = 17
    Cache Limit = 1000
    Active size = 0
    However, if I kill my Tomcat server process and run the application again, it works fine with no error.
    I looked around for possible causes and solutions and all I could find
    was increasing the processes parameter value in the init.ora file. I have increased the parameter value to from 100 to 20000 now, in increments of 500/1000 each time but it hasnt worked so far.
    Someone else suggested that I increase the size of my connection pool; I initially had it set to a minimum limit of 5, an initial limit of 10 and a maximum limit of 1000. However if I set the Initial Limit to anything above 17 connections, I see the following log on the Bundled Tomcat log and my application doesn't run at all:
    Log: Loading JDBC Driver : class=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver ...
    Log: Loaded JDBC Driver
    Log: Connection with URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe as username/password
    Error code not handled : 0
    Exception Message :java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12519, TNS: no appropriate service handler found
    The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
    localhost:1521:xe
    // End of log
    And the Bundled Tomcat server automatically shuts down.
    Again the System.out statements from the Connection Pool class constructor show that the cache has been initialized and that currently there are free connections available in the pool.
    E.g.
    Cache size = 18
    Available Connections = 18
    Cache Limit = 1000
    Active size = 0
    Has anyone faced anything similar? Could someone please suggest what I'm doing wrong here and what I should do to set right this problem?
    Swetha

    hello, please pardon me, my english is basic. i do of my best. i had the same problem until reading the pdf documentation 2 days for java devvelloper.it is simple, follow this way.
    try {OracleDataSource ds;
         Connection conn;
      ds = new OracleDataSource();
      ds.setURL("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost");
      conn = ds.getConnection("userid","password");
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
    don't forget to Dowload the user client of oracle Express Edition. do the rest of your program and it will work. take a look to the documentation pdf for java develloper. all it is explained.  good look

  • Need ACES attention - connection pooling in oracle 10g rel 1

    I am using TOMCAT 5.0.19 Webserver and ORACLE 10g REL 1 as the database server. I have to restart the TOMCAT Webserver in order to establish connection atleast twice or thrice in a weak. Why I am unable to see the connection pooling in oracle 10g rel 1. How to revive or establish the setup. My objective is to have a centralised oracle 10g rel 1 database server and the applications of java are run thru centralised Webserver Tomcat 5.0.19.
    Can anyone please help me out optimizing the design setup.
    Regards
    Vijay Kumar

    by putting 'Need ACES' in your post title, you might have actually reduced the number of people reading your post, in other words someone >who might have suggested Thanks John for your reply. I changed the subject of the thread after not getting any reply for past 10 days. Last two days I have been updating with plea for attention to my problem. Finally I thought pulling attention of ACES, then only I edited the subject.
    Now, problem I am facing is not in oracle database but in application server. Actually we are running web applications thru Tomcat accessing Oracle 10g rel 1. I am often losing connection with web server. The users are unable to login in the web application. I was told to check oracle database server. I just checked alert log and found no errors. I just asked them to shutdown and restart the web server Tomcat 5.0. It then worked fine. This is temporary. I need to ensure where the problem is. Could you please guide me in checking various parameters or files to be checked to optimise connection pooling.

  • Crazy JNDI Problem... (Third Party DB Driver Effects Lookup???) (OAS 10g)

    Ok folks, I need some help here...
    The scenario is this...
    I have a simple web app (one jsp) which is used as a "status checker" to ensure that all the session beans we expected to be deployed are actually deployed and that they can be looked up with JNDI and run some small status routine... That war file for that app is included in the ear file with all of the session ejb jar deployments...
    Now, the collection of session beans references three different datasources at one time or another... 2 of which are oracle databases and 1 is a DB2 database...
    Lets name them as follows...
    OracleDataSource1
    OracleDataSource2
    DB2DataSource
    Now, if I configure the three datasources in the oracle standalone OC4J 10g datasource file and deploy the ear file to standalone OC4J 10g, all of the lookups work, and it successfully uses the datasources... no problems at all...
    Ok, so now I try to deploy the ear on OAS 10g using the enterprise manager console, and deployment works fine...
    If I run the app before configuring the datasources, of course the lookups work, but the status routines of certains beans fail because they are not able to look up the datasources... no big deal, just start adding the datasources...
    I configure OracleDataSource1 and rerun... now things still work, the lookups for all the beans works fine, and some pass now, but others still want the other datasources...
    Now configure OracleDataSource2 and rerun... as before, things all work great but there are still complaints looking for the DB2DataSource from a couple of the routines...
    Herein lies the problem...
    I configure DB2DataSource and rerun, and boom, my program crashes claiming that the lookup of the bean failed...
    Now mind you, these beans have all been looked up numerous times during previous runs, and absolutely nothing has been changed with the application... in fact, even the beans that wanted the DB2DataSource were looked up successfully and then just complained of no datasource during their status routine execution...
    It's just that once I configure the DB2DataSource, all of a sudden my lookups don't work... I have tried commenting out a couple of the beans, and regardless of which lookups are commented out, it still fails saying it can't find any of the beans, even if the beans i'm trying to look up don't use the DB2DataSource, it doesn't seem to matter...
    The InitialContext used for the lookup uses the default "new InitialContext()" constructor and the lookups work fine when the DB2DataSource is not configured, but once it is, the lookups fail saying the objects are not found...
    I have consulted with a few other developers here, and noone can seem to understand why this behavior is happening... I have added debugging statements to print the contents of the context's environment, and it is always empty regardless of whether the lookups pass or fail...
    The ONLY difference I can see with this DB2DataSource is that it uses an external 3rd party driver... The oracle connections use a driver which was packaged with the OAS installation... I feel pretty strongly that it has to do with the driver because if I have the DB2DataSource configured (causing the failure) and then I edit that datasource to say that it should us the oracle driver, miraculously it causes the lookups to work again, except now I get the error saying the oracle driver doesn't like my DB2 jdbc url...
    I'm sorry for the long post, but I'm hoping that at least one person has encountered this before... I cannot think of any reason why the configuration of that datasource with the third party driver would cause these problems, especially when the exact same configuration and setup DOES work with standalone OC4J 10g, even with the DB2DataSource configured... ????? And the fact that the lookups work fine until that datasource is configured really blows my mind... i wouldn't think the datasource configuration should have anything to do with whether the lookups of the session beans succeed or not... hahaha...
    Any help would be great... I'm pullin my hair out here... :)
    Thanks,
    -Garrett

    No, I have not asked on the oracle forums yet... :)
    It seems that the cause is the driver itself... if I set a different driver for the datasource configuation, the lookups work but it just complains about the driver not being correct for the individual beans...
    I have found some documentation claiming that there is an OAS version of the DB2 driver, as well as a Merant version, but I can't seem to find jar files for either...
    Does anyone know where I can download the "YMdb2.jar" file? Supposedly this contains the DB2 DataDirect driver that I need...
    Thanks,
    -Garrett

  • Serious connection pool problem on Tomcat

    Hi,
    We are deploying our JSF creator-made app onto Tomcat 1.5. We set up our JNDI datasource on Tomcat (using the i-net driver ).
    Initially the pages load ok but after a short period of time we are getting these errors:
    Initialization Failure: javax.faces.FacesException: org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot get a connection, pool exhaustedWe believe that somehow the Creator-generated code is NOT freeing up connections in the connection pool.
    We think that when the afterRenderResponse() methods in the beans call rowset.close() this is NOT returning the connections to the pool. Can someone, hopefully a Sun Engineer confirm that the rowset.close() code in afterRenderResponse() returns the connection behind the rowset to the connection pool.
    Could this be a driver issue? We are using the i-net driver not the DataDirect one, but this should implement the full API.
    This is a very serious problem for us.
    regards,
    john

    do you have any example code you could post? I have a Spring/JSC tutorial on this forum. Just search for Spring and you should find it. It you need something more, I'll try to give you some help...time provided.
    am i
    right in thinking that you use the forms designer to
    lay out your pages and just put your own stuff in the
    bean constructor?Close...but not everything goes in the constructor.
    >
    One thing that may have caused a problem is we have
    just noticed that in one of our most commonly hit
    pages this line:
    dataTable1Model.setDataCacheKey("com.sun.datacache.my_
    page.my_rowset");
    featured the WRONG "my_page" jsp page but the correct
    rowset name "my_rowset". The page DID load correctly
    and run correctly, though. Could this cause problems
    with connection pooling? Anyone?I wouldn't think so, but it depends on how Creator builds the code.

  • Oracle connection pool problem (dbcp binded with  jtom)

    Hi,
    my webserver is Tomcat5.0.18, I want to offer the connection pool and transaction management
    in my currently system
    I know in Tomcat5.0 version, we can use the DBCP to offer the database connection pool
    service, to apply the transaction management in my system, I adapt the JTOM
    now, my problem is
    to use DBCP, I setup the datasource factory to be
    org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory, the connection pool is ok, but
    the transaction management offerred by JTOM will failure
    to make the tranaction management of JTOM succeed, I have to setup the datasource factory to be
    org.objectweb.jndi.DataSourceFactory, but the connection pool offerred by Tomcat will failure now
    it seems that these two datasource factory has conflict
    How can I do?, I don't want to use the connection pool offerred in JTOM
    Anyone can help me??
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    I don't know the solution for JOTM, but you could try this JTA and its connection pools:
    http://www.atomikos.com ships a JTA that integrates with Tomcat and also provides JDBC connection pooling. There is a GUI control panel so that you don't have to know the XML details for Tomcat's config files.

    Guy

  • Problem with JCo Connection Pool

    Hi,
    I have a problem with using an RFC Model in my WebApplication. So sometimes the access to the function block works, and sometimes it doesn't work. Now I know, that there is a problem with the connection pool. Look at this message:
    com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (106) JCO_ERROR_RESOURCE: Connection pool WD_X24_MODELDATA_DEST_CPIC_REKTO_DE_useDefinedUser is exhausted. The current pool size limit (max connections) is 10 connections.
    So it looks like a problem with closing the JCo Connections after using. Do know where the problem is? Because I'm using many other function blocks with no problems.

    Hello,
    You need to increase the pool size via Visual Administrator.
    Server 0 -> Services -> JCO RFC Connections.
    Change the pool size from there. I believe a restart is in order.

    We are using the test connection on checkout property of the connection pool,
    so I don't understand why this problem isn't caught at connection checkout time.
    Normally if there is a problem with a connection, the connection is refreshed.
    However, sometimes, this happens.

    What version of our product? What is the whole serverside stacktrace?
    thanks,

  • Problem in DBCP Connection Pooling with BLOB in Tomcat

    Hi All,
    I am using the DBCP connection pooling in tomcat server version 6.0.18.
    I have session table which maintains the session details of the user in BLOB column. Recently I am facing a problem. When a user logs in, I am storing the session details in the DB. It throws an exception like this. When I restart the tomcat, it just works fine. But after some days it is again throwing the same exception.

    We are using weblogic server 6.1 sp3. The server creates three database connection
    pools (details available in the attached config.xml).
    The database has a regular downtime every day for a few hours. We are running
    the server as a windows service. As per the "RefreshMinutes" property, the server
    should be able to get new fresh connections once the database comes up. But in
    our case it is not doing so. Once the database comes up after its regular downtime:
    -- Sometimes the server does not respond as in we are not able to open the console
    page.
    -- Any client that tries connecting to the database thru the server gets blocked
    and does not respond.
    -- The log file(weblogic.log) does not get updated after some time.
    Can someone suggest why the server is showing such a behaviour??
    Could it be anything related to the DBMS setting or to the local machine's settings
    ? Following is the thread dump after the server stops responding:
    Full thread dump:

    Hi Joseph,
    Thanks for your useful suggestion.
    BTW, I am attaching the config.xml for your
    convenience.
    Please go through and let us know if anything
    to be tuned.
    Regards.

    Hi
    We are using weblogic server 6.1 sp3. The server creates three databaseconnection
    pools (details available in the attached config.xml).
    The database has a regular downtime every day for a few hours. We arerunning
    the server as a windows service. As per the "RefreshMinutes" property,the server
    should be able to get new fresh connections once the database comesup. But in
    our case it is not doing so. Once the database comes up after its regulardowntime:
    -- Sometimes the server does not respond as in we are not able toopen the console
    page.
    -- Any client that tries connecting to the database thru the servergets blocked
    and does not respond.
    -- The log file(weblogic.log) does not get updated after some time.
    Can someone suggest why the server is showing such a behaviour??
    Could it be anything related to the DBMS setting or to the local machine'ssettings
    ? Following is the thread dump after the server stops responding:Hi. I do see a problem in the thread dump. The application code is calling
    java.sql.DriverManager
    calls, which are a serious problem in multithreaded applications like
    weblogic, because
    DriverManager calls are all class-synchronized! All JDBC drivers and
    the SQLException constructor
    call DriverManager calls all the time, so a single long-running call
    to DriverManager.getConnection()
    can stop all other JDBC in the whole JVM. One problem you can fix is
    at:
    at tavant.platform.jdbc.JDBCTransaction.getConnection(Unknown Source)
    at tavant.platform.jdbc.JDBCTransaction.start(Unknown Source)
    The getConnection() method should be altered to instantiate a Driver
    object and
    call Driver.connect() directly to make a pool connection, avoiding the
    DriverManager
    call:
    Driver d = (Driver)Class.forName("weblogic.jdbc.pool.Driver").newInstance();
    Connection c = d.connect("jdbc:weblogic:pool:" + myPoolName, null );
    Let me know if you can make this application change and whether it fixes
    the
    problem or not.
    I could also help if I could see the config.xml, but you seem to have
    attached the
    startup script.

  • Problem in getting the database connection from a connection pool

    Hai All,
    I am facing a problem in getting the database connection from a connection pool created on weblogic server 8.1.
    I am using the Oracle database 8.1.7.
    I have configured my connection pool, datasource and JNDI in weblogic.
    In my java program i have the following code to retrieve the connection.
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    class jdbcshp1 {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
         Connection connection = null;
         try {
               Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
               ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");  // Wanna get rid of this.
               ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"t3://localhost:7001"); // wanna get rid of this.
               // Get a context for the JNDI look up
               Context ctx = new InitialContext(ht);
            javax.sql.DataSource ds = (javax.sql.DataSource) ctx.lookup ("myjndi1");
              //Create a connection object
              connection = ds.getConnection();
         The above code is working fine but, the two ht.put statements are creating problem.
    The problem is, after converting the application into WAR file it can be deployed
    on any machine or different port on same machine. My application fails if its deployed on
    weglogicserver which is at different port.
    Is there any way that i can get rid of those ht.put statements or any other way to solve the problem.
    any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Pooja.

    Hai All,
    Firstly, thanks for ur reply.
    Even i have seen some code which uses context constructor with out any parameter and works fine.
    i dont understand why its not working for my code.
    When i remove those ht.put code and use context constructor with out any parameter, it giving an error.
    Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    javax.sql.DataSource ds = (javax.sql.DataSource) ctx.lookup ("ocjndi");
    connection = ds.getConnection();The error is as follows:
    javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial
    the above error is forcing me to include those code but if the port number is changed the code will not work. Plz let meknow if some setting have to be made.
    I appreciate all ur valuable help.
    Thanks once again.
    Pooja.
