OAS 302 on RedHat 6.0

Hi Erick,
Your scripts for running the OAS302 on 6.0 linux had been very
helpful.
Now I am able to run the listeners and even able to create the
packages and users in the database via the OAS 3.0.2 but the
problem starts when accessing a procedure in the database using
the pl/sql agent. By the way i am using Oracle 8.0.5.1 RDBMS and
its home is different than the web server home.
The browser just does nothing and even does not log any error
message ,I have to stop it after a while but all my other
cartridges are working.
any insight will be appreciated.
thanks,
Vikram ( Ironically enough I work for Oracle).

Erick,
I did try the PL/SQL samples and they don't work either. Oracle
Home, YES, is differnt than the Oracle Home where the Oracle is
but, why does he care ? will he not use the SQL*NET to get
connected to the Oracle? I will try changing it anyway today in
the evening. I tried sending you an email it says invalid address
. If its okay with you on an email than could you write me an
email with your email addr. I will appreciate that.
thanks
Vikram.

    1) It's a silly check. Ignore it;
    2) You ask an OAS question in the database forum. In future, ask in right forum and get access to more experienced people.

  • Registering Apache 1.3.4 with OAS 407 on RedHat Linux 5.2

    Hi,
Has anybody tried or succeeded in registering Apache 1.3.4 with
Oracle Application Server 4.0.7 running on RedHat Linux 5.2?
We're having trouble registering Apache as an External Web

Has anybody encountered the error message below when compiling

    Hi ,
First of all please check availability of your OS + DB requiremnts whether it is supported by SAP or not.You can check this at Product Availability Matrix at ::
    http://service.sap.com/pam
If this support for your environment i.e.RedHat Linux 5.2 with Oracle 10G then be informed that after starting sapinst in step create database it will prompt you for installing your oracle DB. So open a new window & install your databse ,do the patching of your DB & then continue with sapinst after successfull installation of oracle.Rest of details sapinst will prompot you during instal;lation.
Hope this will guide you for your query.
    Thanks..

  • How to upgrade EJB client to ORMI 1.1

    Hello,
we have an OC4J Instance(OAS 10g linux RedHat) that receives calls over rmi. Every time the instance starts and at various times in the log we see this message:
Warning a client is using a different version of the ormi protocol 1.0 != 1.1
According to Metalink Note 632923.995 we have to upgrade our client to use ORMI 1.1 .
My question is how to do this upgrade : changing orion-ejb-jar.xml or other xml file ? , I´ve been looking for this information and find nothing.
    Thanks in advance.
    Robert

I too have the same problem , I am seeing in the server log
"Warning a client is using a different version of the ormi protocol 1.0 != 1.1"
I am connecting the app server from my Java Swing Application from Windows. App server version is 10.1.2.0.2 and it is in Solaris 10.
When I copied the oc4jclient.jar from Oracle Application Server's /j2ee/home folder I am getting the following exception in client log.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/management/MBeanRegistrationException
Can anyone help me on this?
    Thanks.

  • Error starting HTTP_Server.

I've seen a lot of posts for this issue, but no definitive resolution.
Build: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 8)
    OAS: 10.1.3
    Desired Build: Integrated HTTP Server/OC4j
The log entry contains the following:
    06/10/06 09:00:06 Start process
When I try to start up the http server alone I receive:
    Ouch! ap_mm_create(1048576, "/tmp/apache/logs/mm.8864") failed
Error: MM: mm:core: failed to open memory file (No such file or directory): OS: No such file or directory
Researching this doesn't give me much.
Can someone point me in the right direction to resolve this? I tried metalink...they have a patch for solaris, not much else. I've looked the forum over and didn't find much other than unanswered posts for the same issue. On the wire I found something aobut the sysctl settings needing to be changed. Is there documentation somewhere about what kernel parameters need to be set for an OAS install on Redhat ES 3? Have I overlooked some other resources?
    Sincerely,

    Hi,
THis error has nothing to do with your as , I "think"U must focus on three points
    1- Kernel parameters
    2- Memory
    -3 space on you FS
Ok. before you start to look here &there. just stop all your AS process
make sure no process for your as is up & running.
under /Apache/Apache/logs U 'll find a file http.pid just delete this one.
then Restart your AS per process
    #opmnctl startproc process-type= (process-type)
check again the error & let me know

  • Oracle Infrastructure in Cold Failover Cluster

    Hello,
I have browsed through the Oracle docs for High Availability, but I cannot find any information abourt achieving that CFC HA for OAS Infrastructura using RedHat EL AS and HP Serviceguard...

I'm running OAS 10.1.2.2.0 on a windows 2003 server under a cold failover clustered environment and was wondering... Is it recommended to have one web application deployed in it's own separate instance? For example, webapp1 deployed to instance1 and webapp2 deployed to instance2? Or would it be better to have multiple web applications deployed to one instance?
Thanks for any thoughts!I can say your configuration is ok for single instance failover . Once u like to make cluster and load balance , OAS hs managed and non-managed cluster.
For Managed Cluster , you must setup either Oracle WebCache or F5 Big/IP . With regard to non-managed cluster, that means nothing required to share .

We have an Oracle Form that allows the user to print off information on the Form to a Microsoft Word document via OLE2 and mail merging; Forms version is 10.1.2.0.2 as it the version of OAS (from Linux Redhat AS4). Some questions:
Which version of office were you using before? 2003?
Are the data files on a network, or on your local machine? If they are on a network, can you make a copy of one of them on your local machine and try again?
Can you open the files directly in Excel? What extension do they have (.xls, or something else?) I am wondering whether access to other file types has been left blocked on your machine but is allowed on your colleague's machine.
Are you just opening the mail merge main document and seeing this message? If so, do you see the same thing if you start with a new document and try to connect to one of these data sources?
Can you confirm that the message is about Access even though you are trying to connect to an Excel file?
(Also, office 2007 has some new stuff - that let's you specify that certain folders are "trusted" . I don't think that ever affected MailMerge but it may be as well to make sure that your documents and data sources are in trusted locations).
Also worth trying to start Word in "Safe mode" - see, e.g. http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word-help/work-with-office-safe-modes-HP010140792.aspx

  • OAS 407 Build Error on RedHat 6.0

    Hi All,
Furhter to my last post, can someone tell me if there is
something I am missing here. Below is the build error I get
when trying to build OAS407. I have RedHat 6.0 and I have made
sure I have the latest glibc installed, based on the notes for
    the patch for oracle 8.0.5.1.
Any information would be hugely appreciated.
    thanks

Sorry, but officialy the OAS 4071 is not supported under RedHad 6
(because of the glibc 2.1). We ran into the same problems. Oracle
Support has no possibilities (in Germany) to build a version
which runs under glibc21. We shall wait to version 4.08.
I hope this will help you. Downgrade to RedHad 5.2 an it3s
    running.
    Greetings
    Sven

  • OAS/Oracle 8.0.5(EE) on Redhat 6.0

Has anyone out there been able to get this working?
    If so how?
I have tried different configurations and none of them have
worked. Oracle is running fine, but the OAS is not.
The OAS will start and connect to oracle to add the necessary
packages, but when I make a call to the application it starts
the it but does never returns any data. Then after a while the
    listener dies.
I and others have added the patches and recompiled the kernel as
noted in other listings. (ps and process limits)
I am a developer using the OAS for Solaris, so I have a clue on
how to implement this product. I think Oracle is having a
problem getting its products running on Linux.
    null

Actually Oracle 8 EE runs fine on Linux as far as I've seen.
But, its the OAS v4.0 that we're having problems with here. We
extensively use the OAS to dynamically render web pages using
the PL/SQL cartridge, which I haven't been able to get to work
yet. I've been up and down the documentation, and I use the OAS
at work on a Solaris platform. It would be nice to setup cheap
Linux servers running oracle 8 and the OAS 4 for
development/testing machines, but without the PL/SQL cartridge
working, we could not use it for testing our applications.
When I try to connect to an application using the PL/SQL
cartride on the OAS, my browser just sits there forever waiting
for data to come back, but nothing ever happens. If I look at
the active sessions in oracle, there is a session there for the
user I have setup for the OAS, so it seems to be connecting to
oracle. If I setup the PL/SQL cartridge to force the user to
enter in a login name and password, I never get prompted for
that authentication information and no connection is ever made
to the database. I hope that this is a known problem at Oracle,
as I saw that they said they will be releasing a patch for the
OAS for linux. However, I can't believe that the OAS could have
been released "broken" and is being sold. Its not just a little
bug, its that the PL/SQL cartridge flat out doesn't work. I have
yet to determine, and would like to know, if this problem is
with the OAS itself, or some weird problem of the OAS running
under the RedHat version 6.0 system. I have even tried setting
the owner of the wrks file to root and setuid'ing it to make
sure there is no permissions problems.
If anyone has been able to get the PL/SQL cartridge working, can
you please tell me if you did anything outside of the normal
installation process and fixes mentioned on technet to get it to
work? And also what your system config is.
    Thanks for any help.

We had the same problem with the PL/SQL cartridge (OWS-04764 ...). We solved our problem with a new kernel. Its important that you have a kernel with symmetric multi-processing support (SMP) enabled, independent if you have a one or two processor machine.
I hope it will help you.

  • OAS 4.0.8.1/Redhat 6.2? WRKSF problem

Hi, I've installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.2 but when I start the processes up the WRKSF goes down after a few seconds, I've seen a previous posting on this subject had a workaround proposed by Dennis Irwin which seemed to work for many people, unfortunately it didn't for me, I've spoken to Oracle about this problem but all they say is OAS 4.0.8.1 isn't supported for the 2.2.14 kernel in Redhat 6.2, 4.0.8.2 will be but they can't say when it will be released, until then OAS is basically useless for me, has anyone any suggestions?. Thanks, Geoff

According to ORACLE representatives, OAS 4.0.8 isn't their major priority : since Oracle iAS will be available in few days, and many less CPY and memory hungry as OAS, can't you wait a bit longer ?
An other point is that oas 4.0.8.2 will probably be one on their last release of this product ...
Take a look at the oracle iAS white paper, the product will be more reliable and standard : essentialy based on Apache 1.3.12, mod_java, mod_pl and JServ 1.1, and Oracle 8i Cache...

I am sure, this is possible.

  • OAS 4.0.7, RedHat 6.0, PL/SQL catridge

  • OAS 4.0.8.1 Performance - Redhat 6.1

I have noticed a few comments from other members of technet regarding Linux-based OAS performance.
I, too, have notice considerable lag times in web/admin requests (as compared to an NT install on a similar box).
As well, the java applet takes FOREVER to appear (and sometimes it just sits in an "applet initialized" state) as compared to my existing NT install.
    Any comments?

I have gotten just as far on RH6.0 Kernel 2.2.5-15. However when I start everything with owsctl start I see messages to the effect that "thread display not implemented".
Could this be related to the thread notes in the installation or is it the max processes exceeded kernel configuration issues.
Please email me at [email protected] if you have the answer and I will post it back here.
    Thank you in advance
