OAS listener

I have OAS 4.0.6 on NT.
Does anyone know what type of entry I need to make in
TNSNAMES.ORA to allow the reports server to start ?
I am getting the "expected" error REP-0186, but am not sure
exactly what it means. Port Number maybe ? Isn't that meant to
refer to the listener on the server ?
Any help gratefully received

If your listener is listening on port 80
you do not need to include :80 on your url.
To find your index.html by default specify
it as your initial file for the listener
under the listener server section
HTTP Listeners
<listener name>
Server => Initial File index.html
I assume you are using OAS 4.0

  • OAS HTTPS - error?

I set up SSL authentication on one OAS listener, then I build and install OAS sample servlets ( ListSamples, SnoopServlet & etc.).
When I fire SnoopServlet, it write:
    Server port 443
    Remote user null
    URL scheme https
    Authorization scheme null
I think, "Authorization scheme" must be "SSL". I'm not right?

    Authorization scheme will appears if:
    - you are using an DAD without user/pass
    - you are protected a virtual directory with the scheme Basic_Oracle
    - you are using owa_sec.global plsql cartridge security scheme.
Resuming it, if the browser doesn't ask the user/password with a pop screen this values are not setted by the CGI enviroment.
In this case it will show
    Auth type: basic
User: the user entered in the pop screen.
    Best regards, Marcelo.

  • JSP in OAS

    Hola pobres tontos!
Quickly, should I simply forget about OAS and go to 9iAS? Is OAS essentially vaporware?
I have an 8.1.6 database with JServer installed. But the OAS listener does not interpret JSP pages. For example, I can place the hello.jsp file on a virtual directory, but the OAS will not interpret it as a JSP page. Any pointers, links, how-tos, or tutorials I can look at?
    Gracias!

I'm also interested in knowing how to access session variables in PL/SQL? I have only found descriptions of what session management is. I can't seem to find any sample code or documentation on the How Tos.

  • Generic Apache calling OAS for pl/sql pages

I have a generic apache 2.2 set up using SSL and everything works fine. We are calling OAS v10.1.2 for pl/sql pages. This works fine. Now we want to use SSL certificates. The certificates are correct for the generic apache, but when I call the pl/sql it doesn't work.
    1.  If we have SSLVerifyclient OPTIONAL on the apache 2.2 the call to pl/sql is correct and the certificate is generated, but not for the pages on the apache 2.2. server.
    2. If we remove SSLVerifyclient OPTIONAL on the apache 2.2 the ssl certificate is correct for the pages on the apache 2.2 but not for the pl/sql pages form the OAS.
Where should the ssl certificate come from for the OAS pl/sql? The OAS server or the generic apache server?

You should post your question on the OTN (Oracle Technology Network) discussion forum.: www.technet.oracle.com. There is an iAS section where you can post questions on oas.

    o OAS listener 4.0.8.1 + OAS 4.0.8.1 + Oracle 815
    Is this the best choice?

  • Invoking bpel processes

    Hi,
Could someone please help us with this scenario.
Currently from Oracle Applications R12 we are invoking the BPEL process by passing the SOAP envelope over HTTP Post request.
Now is there any way we could use the concept of Queues wherein we extract the data from Oracle system and then put it in the database queue and then have a BPEL process deployed on the OAS listen to this queue and take the data and process further...
I am not very conversant with this concept as to what all needs to be configured regards
--setting up and defining the queue on the Oracle DB side ..how to define the queue and other steps involved
    --starting of the queue.
--also what method should be used to put the data/details in the queue.
--could an entire xml from the Oracle source system be inserted into this database queue.
-- How would the bpel process listen to this queue/poll the queue and take this data and process further.
In case if someone has an example and steps for the above mentioned points..that would be really very helpful of you.
    Regards

    Hi
This is possible and very common use-case in BPEL world.
If you check BPEL cook book, you can find help on these topics.
You can also search in BPEL developer guide.

In our case, we had to install OAS 4.0.7.x and developer server 6.0 in the SAME oracle home.
With D2K server 2.1, you had to install in SEPARATE oracle home (even tough the manual did not say so) in order to be able to relink the executables. In 6.0, we said to ourselves (even tough the manual said to install in same OH) that we better not follow the manual and do like 2.1: WRONG
In 6.0 you NEED to install in same OH

  • JWeb application on OAS4.0.7.1

I know how to dploy simple applets on the OAS and run the same from the Browser.
I would like to now the STEP-BY-STEP method for deploying the JWeb applicatations on OAS.
    The documents are not clear.
    Thanks in advance.

First of all create the HTML page, ensure that your .fmx exists in the same directory.
Set the paths in the OAS listener directory settings and in the Registry if you're running WinNT.
Make sure the Forms Server Listener is running.
Type the URL and you're on the go.

  • Designer Web Assistant with iAS

    Hi,
Anyone using ODWA with the new iAS (not OAS) listener? I've got it working except for the virtual directory mapping for the gifs.
The install instructions are excellent, but not for this version of iAS. I've tried different combinations for the Path Aliasing, but this seems to be more for DB stored logic than physical directories.
    TIA,
    Gary Wong

    Hi,
Found the answer and wanted to share it...
    Edit jserv.conf, and put:
    Alias /odwa_images/ "E:\OraNT\odwa\gif/"
Where E:\OraNT is your <OracleHome>. I remembered that the listener is now just
    straight Apache.
    Cheers,
    Gary

  • OAS 4.0.8.1 + Apache web listener

    Help!
I'm not having all the problems running OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.1 that everyone else is (my processes stay up and it's significantly faster than 4.0.7.1 on RH 5.2). But what I'd really like to do is dump Oracle's Spyglass web listeners and run Apache instead. This includes all cartridges and such as well as standard HTML. I'm mostly interested in the PL/SQL cartridge, but all working would be nice.
This can be done by compiling Apache specially with MOD_SO support and registering Apache as a listener. The very sketchy directions are in the docs under the Administration section. The directions are very poor (thank you again Oracle, we wouldn't want you to actually write good docs, it would spoil us for the years of terrible documentation) and I can't quite get it to work. I get Apache compiled and the shared objects libraries load, I think.
When I start Apache, it says it starts but it really doesn't. Dies immediately and doesn't show up on the process list. The error logs shows the following message:
(111)Connection refused: OAS Adapter: Error connecting to dispatcher
This is a major issue for me and any help would be appreciated. Anyone had any luck getting this to work?
    Thanks!

    Dear jgerry,
Congrats on getting Apache compiled. I am new to all of this, and the documentation is poor. The way I understand the documentation on www.olab.com, libapadp.so must be linked into Apache. Is this true? If so, I would love to know how to recompile it. I have downloaded and unzipped/untared 1.3.12, but I can't find out how to just link in a .so file. The only references I see are how to start out with a .c file. I have fould libapadp.so and ndwfapd.so in the Oracle install. I thought that just doing "LoadModule ows_module ndwfapd.so" would do the trick if I put ndwfapd.so and libapadp.so in the modules subdir of my Apache 1.3.9 installation, but I get the message...
"Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/ndwfapd.so into server: libapadp.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
Do you have any ideas to help me over this hurdle.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • OAS 4.0.8 and HTTP Listener Configuration

  • OAS 4.0.8 http listener problems

I am running OAS 4.0.8 on NT w/ SP5. I followed the instructions for install in the latest (Jan 2000) release notes. The problem I am having is with the listeners. The admin and www default listeners start up fine, but if I create a new listener, it will not start up. The error message tells me to check the NT Event log but there is nothing there. Also there is no svwww.err file available to check because it never starts!

Try to use root for startup. Remember that port bellow 1024 is protected for root only.
