OBI EE - Reports

Is there any way we can give Tool Tip Like help in Reports built in OBI EE. Also can we apply this tool tip at cell level or data level.

I think it is possible by changing the custom XML messages. There are certain messages pointing to tooltips especially in reports as well as in dashboards. Search by Reports(this is the default tooltip for Answers) in the XML messages directory and you would get a list of all Tooltip messages.

BI publisher report not refreshing when associated OBI EE report is changed

We have a dashboard that has an OBI report at the top, and a linked BI Publisher report underneath. The BI Publisher report is supposed to reflect a template version of the results in the OBI report.
On the initial load of the report, the two reports are synched and matching. However, when you change a prompt with a request variable for the OBI report, the BI publisher report either blanks out or shows the prior information which no longer matches. If I change defaults in the OBI EE report, resave, then reload, the BI Publisher always gets it right the first time, just never again after that.
Since all my research to this point led to a caching issue, here are the report properties that matter(?):
Report properties:
Caching –
Enable Data Caching = unchecked
User Level = checked
Document Caching = unchecked
User Can Refresh Report Data = checked
General -
Run Report Online = checked
Show Controls = checked
Allow Sharing Report Links = checked
Open Links in New Window = checked
Asynchronous Mode = unchecked

Also – how do you make PDF the default output for a BI Publisher report? When we load this dashboard, it always tries to run the RTF version, and we have to Cancel, choose PDF and then refresh to get the PDF version.

when you change a prompt with a request variable for the OBI reportUse Presentation Variable instead of Request Variable. Make sure you keep the same name for both Parameter in the BIP report and Presentation Variable in BI.

Using OBI answers report as source in BIP report

All,
I am creating a BIP report using OBI answers request as source. I defined the data set, created RTF template from MS word and uploaded the same into BIP.
I am using dashboard prompts for this reports. I have 2 issues with this.
1. When I embed the BIP report in the dashboard along with BI answers report, the BIP report is not retrieving data when different metrics are selected in the prompts. for ex: grams and Kgs.
The logic to apply the factoring on data is already implemented in OBI. When i change the dashboard prompt, it is changing the data in BI answers report and not in BIP report. I am wondering why this might be happening. If you have any thought please share.
2. The BI report has some saved filters applied which uses some presentation variables in the filters. But those seem to be not effecting in BIP report. Please suggest any reasons and fix for these.
If any one have idea, please suggest.

The BI answers request contains saved filters, in which some filters have presentation variable and a default value set for the same. we are using this as source for the BIP report data set.
In this case the answers request is working correctly based on the prompt value selected where as the BIPub report is not working. The BIP report is working for only the default value. If we change the prompt for that parameter, it is showing no rows.
How BIP takes care of such answers request based reports?

ROLAP Cube - OBI EE Reporting

Hello,
I have followed the tutorial on MOLAP cube and OBI EE http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/olap/index.html.
I have now build a Relational OLAP Cube using Oracle Warehouse Builder and I want to report on it using OBI EE.
How shall I proceed? Shall I do the same mapping operation as for a MOLAP Cube?
Shall I use Materialized Views? How to use them?

The problem has been solved, the solution was to install the Essbase version 11.1.1.3, because it is the latest version certified for OBI 10.1.3.4. By doing this the problem was solved.
The oracle support SR 3-205005527 is associated with this solution.

OBI Dashboards/Reports to RPD Link?

Hi, does anyone know how I can get the link between all the Presentation Catalogs in the RPD and which dashboards/reports they are used in?
For example I want to find out which dashboards/reports use columns from a particular Fact table which is in the RPD.

Basically I need some sort of log which shows the mapping of every dashboard/report and states which columns/tables are used.
Therefore I can ascertain if I remove a table/column from the RPD then which dashboards/reports will be affected.

To be able to report by business area at a header level

Business area reporting at a header level in Procurement/AP Subject Areas
At present client is doing a large number of manual lookups in Excel to add Business area detail to certain OBI procurement reports. Reasons for why we are having to do this includes that the report is written at a header level but the business area detail is stored at a distribution level or the document has no distribution lines.
What client would therefore like is for us to devise solutions that would allow us to include the business area detail. Possible solutions that I can think of include doing a join between the employee name, preparer name and requestor name to the HR business area detail, and the way that the ‘Procurement and Spend - Employee Spend’ joins the employee name and approver name to the business area fields maybe something that you can review as a solution.
I am hoping that you can come up with a number of solutions which we can then explore in further detail.
The key subject area that we would like this business area detail to be available in is the ‘Financials - AP Transactions’ area but if would certainly be beneficial to have in the ‘Procurement and Spend - Purchase Orders’ and ‘Procurement and Spend - Purchase Requisitions’ subject areas as well if it is feasible.
Can any plz.. guide the possible soultions we can do with this CR

En fait, il s'agit de plusieurs factures (avec différentes business area) pour un même fournisseur.
Au moment de la F110, le système comptabilise le paiement via une seule pièce mais avec plusieurs postes (un par business area) et la contrepartie le compte banque.
La case n'est pas cochée pour le champ T001-XGSBE donc je ne pense pqs que le problème provienne de là.

Would like to know if its possible to run an OBI-Publisher report using a command line or a unix script instead of using the scheduler.
If so anyone have a sample of how to accomplish this...

Intransit Inventory in OBI

Hello All,
I am an end user with very limited OBI experience.
Is anyone using OBI to report on Intransit Inventory?
We use OBI today to report on hand inventory but we do not have Item and Quantity detail information available for goods intransit between Oraganizations in Oracle.
How are other companies dealing with this business issue?

you can uncheck the "Allow negative stock" for the combination of warehouse and the storage type.
Path is-
SPRO > Logistics execution > Warehouse management > Stock removal startegies.
Then select your strategy.

BIP Experts,
Does anyone know of any good OBI EE 11g and BI Publisher 11g integration training?
I am struggling to create even the simplest of Reports?
Or does anyone have 10 mins to give me a quick once over of how I can create two simple Reports?
One using OBI EE as a DataSource and one using a OBI EE Report in the Web Catalog?

OBI Publisher display user role

Hello,
I have googled for a few hours but cant find a global variable to display the user group(s) on the OBI Publisher report.
Is that possible without setting up a session variable in the repository (because right now we use OBI without the BI Server repository). If it does not work, how
do I access a OBI Repository session variable in OBI Publisher? From somewhere I need to get the runtime session user groups.

The LDAP is configured correctly now. I created a BIConsumer_new catalog group in the presentation services admin console. I can use that
console to set the permissions for the BI publisher report (somehow it does not work when I try to set the permissions using the bi publisher admin page - the permissions window does not open).
the question is still out there. how can I query with that catalog group OR ldap group in the BI Publisher data model?

You can get some info about DataTemplate (structure etc.) in OBI Publisher Report Designer`s Guide.
If you want to call PL\SQL procedure you should define your default package and then call proc from it in DataTrigger section.

HTML formate excel files

Hi,
I just recognized that the excel files which I can download from my OBI/Answers reports or which I used to send to customers are HTML formated excel files. I also found a remark in the Oracle OBI documentation.
Now my problem ...those files are much bigger then the ordinary excel files. Opening those files and saving them again as pure excel decreases the size by the factor 10x.
Unluckily some of those files a bigger then 10MB which is the size limit of mails of our mail server. My question is there a way to create normal, non-html formatted excel files (especially for sending them)?

The link is very helpful but unluckily it is no solution (maybe there is no solution). If the excel file is in MHTML format it is much too big ...on the other hand it needs to be Excel 2003. So finally the question is still whether it is possible to get am Excel 2003 file without MHTML?

OBI 11G sUnquotedTableName.empty() error while creating a report

hello guru's
We have a problem when trying to build a report in OBI 11G. We have migrated an RPD from 10 to 11 and one 1 installation DEV all is OK, on TEST we get all kind of problems.
One of the main issues is when trying to build a report and clicking on the + to expand a node of a dimension object we hget the sUnquotedTableName.empty() error
When going to the logs I see the following details of the error.
Does anyone have a clue and can help us out?

How to send report using OBI EE Delivers to NON-OBI EE users

Help!!!
I have followed all the instructions posted.
I have setup SA Systems.
Delivers / iBots works using our SA_SYSTEM_USERS table.
Yes, I have the column names correct.
Yes, have setup the iBot correct.
I have a list of 4 users. 2 users are vaild OBI EE users.
The other 2 users do NOT have a OBI EE login. We do not want them to have an OBI EE login.
When I execute the iBot the 2 users recieve their email.
I have debug turned on... Here is are my error messages.

I must be missing something? A configuration setup?
Remember, I can successfully send reports from SA Systems for 2 valid OBIEE users. It is the 2 users that are in SA System but do not have a login to OBI EE.

I look at 'My Account' for my Dummy obi ee user and I see 3 System Emails listed.
But when I view them they all have the same email address.
But in the SA_SYSTEM_USER table I have 3 completely different email address/records.
Again, I will state, in the SA_SYSTEMS Table I have 3 completely different emails!!!
This was my insert statement:

To my understanding, and this is what I would like assistance with. Is if I have 3 DIFFERENT emails address in the SA SYSTEM table, shouldn't the 3 different emails be listed in the DOVICO_GROUP2's "My Account" ?
Instead, I get 3 emails listed, but when I view them they are the same one.
Again, assistance would be appreciated.
