    I am running SUSE Linux
    Is it important to have only the above.....
    Could I not have the latest version of openmotif ?
    Please guide me

    Hi
    This is my current situation.
    I installed the patches recommended by you.
    Currently the output of rpm -qa|grep motif is
    oracle@test-app:/apps11510/dev/devora/8.0.6/bin> rpm -qa|grep motif

    I am applying patches as per document 125767.1
    I think I must have made some mistake in the sequence of steps or some other error....
    First let me give some details about my environment
    We have two servers
    a) test-db
    This runs Oracle database and
    Reports Server and
    Concurrent Manager and
    Reports review agent
    b) test-app
    This runs Forms Metric Server and
    Forms Server Listener and
    Forms Metric client and
    Report Review agent and
    HTTP Web server and
    Discoverer Server and
    Fulfillment server
    I am confident that I have correctly followed all steps 1 - 5 of the
    document 125767.1
    Now step 6
    I have installed all the following patches on ONLY test-app
    6194129 and
    7343387 and
    7156414 and
    6125732 and
    6857221 and
    3830807 and
    4586086 ( This is where it failed)
    Question - Should I have installed these patches on both servers test-app and test-db
    Question - should all the patches mentioned in the document be applied
    (6194129,7343387,7156414,6125732,6857221,3830807,4586086)
    as part of step 6 and step 7 and then move to step 8 ?

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.7 installation Issues - Fails on Creating a Domain

    Hi,
    I have completed all the steps mentioned in different posts in this forum regarding my error, but none of them helps. After comprehensive searching i have tried to install OBIEE with these steps also.
    1st time installation:
    1. Followed simple steps
       a) Created schema using RCU on MS SQL Server successfully.
       b) After that ran the setup of OBIEE, it succeeded all the way, but when it was configuring it stuck on Creating Domain, and eventually failed after 180 minutes.
    2nd time installation:
    I completely removed, OBIEE from my system, with all the registry entries included. Started a fresh installation after reading all these forum posts. but still it failed again on Creating a domain, this time i kept on re-trying for 3 times, it failed and it took me about 315 minutes overall.
    a) Create a loop back adapter.
    b) Assigned that adapter an IP (10.10.10.10). Configured the /etc/host file reflecting my adapter IP and hostname.domain name.

    Your name must be hard to type, let alone remember. Please choose a more speaking name / handle for this forum since it's inconvenient talking to an alphanumeric string rather than a person.
    You seem to have port issues:
    java.lang.Exception: Unable to find a free port in range 7001 and 7500
    java.lang.Exception: Unable to find a free port in range 9500 and 10000
    java.lang.Exception: Unable to find a free port in range 9500 and 10000
    However you're on Windows, so I suggest you check the last post in this thread: Re: OBIEE 11.1.1.5 installation Error on windows 7 64 bit
    BTW: Doing a google search as well as a normal forum search bring up that thread and the very first search result for you issue.

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.6 installation hangs without any error or warning

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to install OBIEE 11.1.1.6 on a previous 11.1.1.5 installation, on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. I followed the instructions on the "Oracle® Fusion Middleware Upgrade Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)" manual, "Moving from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6" paragraph.
    All checks give positive result but then installation hangs without any error or warning. I tried 3 times with the same behaviour.
    Any suggestion? Anyone having similar problems?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cristina

    The only error I get (in the Windows application event viewer) is:
    [nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=recv: (Number=10054) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks,
    Cristina

  • BI Installer issue with message" Error: ABAP Backend doesn't exist in SLD

    Dear All
    Please help me to solve this issue, during the BI Installer the process get errors message
    "Error: ABAP Backend doesn't exist in SLD"
    Follwoing the oss Note 983156 - BI configuration w. Template Installer

    Please check in Home -> Technical Systems -> select type ABAP. This
    should have configuration of your ABAP (BI) system. yes the system already there.
    2, goto http://host:port/index.html ->Web Dynpro ->Content Administrator-> Check SLD Connection
    the connection is running well.
    Please any one can help me to solve this issue,
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Chrisna

    Hi
    I found your question because I wanted the answer to it too.  I'm trying to connect my Java-only stack portal to my ABAP-only stack BI system using the template in NWA.  I get through all the steps up to the creation of the WebDynpro JCO RFC destinations then it fails saying "ABAP Backend doesn't exist in the SLD".
    I've checked the SLD and the ABAP backend most definitely DOES exist in the SLD and the SLD is being updated by both the ABAP backend and the Java portal systems thus proving a valid connection exists between the SLD and both systems I'm trying to connect.
    I think I've solved it however.
    I always define a TCP alias equal to the SID for any SAP system I build and I try to make all connections to <sid>.<fully.qualified.domain.name>.  This separates, to a degree, the physical server from the SAP instance.
    I used this alias in the BI installation template but I noticed that the ABAP backend was listed as <SID> <hostname> in the SLD (not <SID> <sid alias>).  When I used the real hostname in the template it ran to completion.
    The other change I made, and it's possible that this was the real reason instead of the alias/hostname issue, was that I restarted the BI system before retrying.  I only did this because I was getting error messages saying there were too many active CPIC conversations and I couldn't find them to kill them off.
    Hope one or other of these things might help.

  • Adobe RoboHelp 8.0.2 Patch - Install Error

    In the hopes of trying to fix a known bug I ran the 801 patch last week. I immediately tried to run the 802 patch afterwards but it failed. I received an error message that the 801 needed to be installed first. I have uninstalled the 801, reinstalled it and then run the install for the 802 again but still receive the following error: "Adobe RoboHelp 8.0.1 is not installed. Please install Adobe RoboHelp 8.0.1 before applying this patch."
    Thoughts?

    Sounds plausible and I will pursue this course of action however when I open RoboHelp and look under Help>About RoboHelp it does say it's running 01 so the original patch looks to be successful.

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 Patch Issue

    Hi folks,
    I applied the latest OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 patch earlier today. This was for a standalone instance and I didn't encounter any issues with the patching process itself. However, afterwards when I logged into Answers/Dashboard, the homepage looked very strange. The entire header component is missing, including the Oracle logo, the dropdown menus for dashboards, favorites, search text field, signout link etc. The Create section in the left pane is also empty. Everything else on this homepage looks fine. When I navigate to the catalog via the Browse/Manager section, the catalog comes up fine along with the previously missing header! So the header is only missing on the homepage.. Very wierd.
    Would appreciate any hints on how to troubleshoot this.. Can I manually fix this is in one of the xml files? I'm hoping not to have to go back and re-do the patching!
    thanks,
    Axe

    I think dhar is referring to the cleancat script to clean up the catalog binary cache. Here is the notes from the BP1 installation:
    Clarification on the cleancat script: You may want to first navigate to the locations listed in the script to see if the files exist in your environment (they may not). If they do not exist, then you may scip running the patch. Additionally, the script may fail with an error. If that happens, go to the directories the script is trying to delete and delete them manually (if they exist).
    P.S: I have manually deleted these files by navigating to the directories after installing the patches.
    For Linux: cleancat.sh
    ================================
    #!/bin/sh
    # Cleanup catman binary cache
    echo "Cleaning up Catalog Manager binary cache"
    rm -rf $ORACLE_HOME/bifoundation/web/catalogmanager/configuration/org*
    echo "Done"
    For Windows: cleancat.cmd
    ================================
    echo off
    echo Cleaning up Catalog Manager binary cache
    IF EXIST
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.osgi
    rmdir /S /Q
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.osgi
    IF EXIST
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.equino
    x.app (
    rmdir /S /Q
    %ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.equino

  • Oracle Demantra 7.3.1.5.0 Installation Issue

    Dear All,
    I have a Win 7 64 Bit OS on my Laptop with 16 GB Memory and Core i7 Processor.
    I Downloaded both 32 bit and 64 Bit Windows based Oracle Demantra 7.3.1.5.0 versions from Oracle's E-delivery Successfully.
    Prior to the Installation of Oracle Demantra 7.3.1.5.0 using Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
    I created the required Tablespaces as
    create tablespace TS_DP datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_dp01.dbf' size 1000M;
    create tablespace TS_SALES_DATA datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_sales_data01.dbf' size 500M;
    create tablespace TS_SALES_DATA_X datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_sales_data_x01.dbf' size 100M;
    create tablespace TS_SIM datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_sim01.dbf' size 500M;
    create tablespace TS_SIM_X datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_sim_x01.dbf' size 100M;
    create tablespace TS_SALES_DATA_ENGINE datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_sales_data_engine01.dbf' size 500M;
    create tablespace TS_SALES_DATA_ENGINE_X datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test\ts_sales_data_engine_x01.dbf' size 100M;
    All Tablespaces are create successfully.
    Also I set the system JAVA environment variable as
    JAVA_HOME with value as %JAVA_HOME%\bin;F:\oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.5.0_22
    (Earlier I used jdk1.6 for Middleware which I removed using Add Remove from control Panel).
    As per the Java requirement for Demantra (which requires - JDK 1.5.0_22 only) I Installed. jdk-1_5_0_22-windows-i586-p.exe and jre-1_5_0_22-windows-i586-p.exe. During the Java JDK Installation I get the following error
    Java Virtual Machine Launcher
    Could not find the main class. Program will exit.
    After JDK Installation in spite of the main class error. I started Demantra 64 Bit 7.3.1.5.0 setup.exe installation
    It goes fine with all the wizard steps of selecting the user, jdbc connection, database validations, standard applications,
    user execution until it comes across the following error during installing wizard step as :
    Failed to Install JDK
    Failed to complete JDK 1.5.0_22 Installation.
    Please Install JDK 1.5.0_22 manually.
    Further it looks for Adobe installation too, where I find the next button grayed out. and the installation stops unless cancel
    button is pressed.
    I tried even installing thru Demantra 32 Bit 7.3.1.5.0 setup.exe  (same error for both 32 bit and 64 bit too)
    What can be the root cause of the error :
    1) Is it because of the JDK Error (Could not find the main class. Program will exit)
    2) Is Oracle Demantra  7.3.1.5.0 setup.exe certified to be installed in Win 7 64 Bit or 32 Bit ?
    3) Do I need to Install JDK before Demantra Install. (As mentioned in the document demantra installs JDK too)
    4) Is the system Environment Variable as
        %JAVA_HOME%\bin;F:\oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.5.0_22
          Correct or Wrong ?
    I have been trying the Installation of Java and Demantra umpteen times,thru various screen shot and documents,
    for last 5 days,  still the same issue ?
    What is the correct Java version for Demantra 32 Bit 7.3.1.5.0 and Demantra 64 Bit 7.3.1.5.0
    What is the overall root cause of the installation failure.
    Thanks

  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
    I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
    Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
    But it failed but the error is ..
    Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
    just wondering if there are any workaround ..

    Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
    Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
    Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
    Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
    This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
    Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
    Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.

  • Oracle BIEE installation issue: Application Server default OC4J name error

    Hi all,
    I am installing OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2 windows 32bit version on windows 2003 sp2. Before the installation I have installed the JDK 5 and Application Server 10.1.3.1.0(J2EE Server and Web Server) on the same server according to the pre-install section in the OBIEE installation guide.
    When I install OBIEE (advanced installation), I got the error when I specify the Oracle Application server location:
    Please specify a valid Oracle Application Server 10g installation location. A valid Oracle Application Server 10g installation must have the default OC4J instance named home and that home OC4J instance must be enabled.
    When I install the Application Server 10.1.3.1.0, I have change the default OC4J name to "oc4j-soa", I think this is the root reason I got the error. I have tried to create another OC4J instance named "home", but failed coz the name is used for another directory.
    Then can I have another way to continue the installation? Why OBIEE installer have this strange constrain while not any words about this issue in the installation guide (coz I follow the each steps in the guild before I take action)? I have search some threads and the only information is to install a simple installation, but it would create another application server..... and the simple installation type is not what I want.
    Can anybody give me some hint or information about this issue? otherwise I have to purge and reinstall the server...... Thanks
    Scott

    Reinstalling the App Server and naming oc4j instance to be called "home" resolves the issue but this is an odd requirement. I have an OC4J instance already running and it is named something else. Is there any other alternative to make this work?
    Swapan.
    PS. I can always create a new oc4j instance named "home" but this is wasting of server resources.
