OBIEE 11g - Download All/Display All of rows in Answers

Hi All,
I have created a request in OBIEE 11g and now displaying it on dashboard.
by default shows 25 rows, can extend it fo 500 rows, next i should keep on clicking to see full data.
Also download of data is possible for the rows available on page only i.e. 500 rows are only getting exported to excel.
Any way to view all data on dashboard at once and download as well?

1. Change instanceconfig.xml file in <biee11g_install>\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1 as following

3. Note the new elements added are the following to both <Pivot> and <Table>, the Pivot part controls Pivot view, and Table part controls Table View, my testing was done with Table View.

4. Restart Presentation Server from EM, then run your request, do excel export to verify.

OBIEE 11g: Searching Subject Area for measure names in Answers

Hello,
I have installed OBIEE 11g SampleApp 825 and just exploring the provided set of dashboards.
From the samples, I am performing following steps:
- I selected Edit Dashboard (for 2.1 Simple Demo Dashboard)
- For Column 2, in the Master Detail 1 Compound View, I did Edit Analysis
- which took me into the Answers design interface with 4 tabs (Criteria, Results, Prompts, Adv).
In the Criteria tab, there is the Subject Area pane on the left where it shows the Subject Area this Answers report is built on and a bunch of Folders like Time, Products, Base Facts etc.
Beside the Subject Area pane, is the Selected Columns pane where you drop fields from the folders.
This particular analysis (Product Line Analysis) has three columns: Revenue Analysis, Products Hierarchy and T05 Per Name Year.
Now, I want to find the folder to which the Revenue Analysis measure belongs. So, I started expanding each node/folder in the Subject Area pane and visually searching for "Revenue Analysis"....cannot find it!
How to determine which Subject Area folder a field on the Analysis belongs to? In Oracle Discoverer, only the Folders from which fields are selected are "enabled" so it's easy to navigate straight to that folder. Or again, in Discoverer, you can actually search for a particular field name and it will return all folders that have that field name pattern. While the Search feature on the top row is useful in finding which Analysis/Report match a string, it does not help in identifying relevant Subject Area Folder fields that match a pattern.
Is something similar available in Answers/OBIEE 11g?

Again answering part of my own question...It was staring me right in the eye and I couldn't see it:-)...When you have a column in the Selected Columns pane, it's source is right there above the field name. If there is no source folder listed, then it might mean it's a formula. For example in my case, the Products Hierarchy column has the word Product above it...that's the folder it belongs to.
Good. But, the follow-on question still remains, how to search for folders containing a particular string, to find say all folders that have columns like %Margin%?

OBIEE 11g - How to display Grand Total in graphs

I have created using grand total by row summing and inserting that value in the Group By Function.

OBIEE 11g-- Graph Data Display

Hi All,
I have been facing a big problem in making the report.
I need to display month wise bar chart (Sales Value), On top of the Bar i have to display the Amount in terms of Millions, I have achieved by using Custom Number format, but It is difficult for developing the reports since i have to give each and every time this condition.
My report is connected to Essbase ASO Cube,columns are
Region and Sales Amount.
So i have decided to call DB function which is common wherever I need amount in Millions just need to call but it is failed.
Is it possible ? or Is there any other to achieve the same.

Essbase ASO is different than a relational database so PL/SQL commands are not going to function with this.
You are likely going to have to change the number format on each report.

Report Links in OBIEE 11g Dashboard not displayed correctly

In the Dashboard pages the Report Links for Export are not displayed correctly .
Instead of showing the multiple options for export/download it shows just text.

It can be done by doing below steps.
1) before doing this take a backup of instanconfig.xml file and do the below changes...
You can configure various options that change the way that right-click interactions are handled in views for an analysis at runtime. The elements in the instanceconfig.xml file specify the default settings for a new or upgraded analysis. You can edit the properties of an analysis in Presentation Services to modify how the analysis handles right-click interactions in views.
Before you begin this procedure, ensure that you are familiar with the information in Section 3.4, "Using a Text Editor to Update Configuration Settings."
To manually configure for interactions in views:

Open the instanceconfig.xml file for editing,

Hello All,
Do we have any way to display all rows by default for only one report in OBIEE 11g rather than the regular 25 rows and clicking on all the rows. Without changing the configuration on instanceconfig.xml.

Why doesn't the downloads window in firefox 3.6.25 display all downloads?

whenever i download a web page or attachment, the downloads window in firefox 3.6.25 remains blank.
the tools' options are set to "show the downloads window when downloading a file." the only other option checked is "save files to" but the browse button doesn't display the downloads window. i've created a downloads folder on my desktop, but i would prefer having the downloads window display all downloads automatically. please advise. thanks.

Deliver data to external web service possible in OBIEE 11g?

Hi all,
I'm looking into the possibility of "pushing" data from OBIEE and out to an external web service, e.g. through executing a scheduled report that instead of delivering the result on screen, it would call an external web service that would consume the generated data for storage in an external system.
Does anyone know if this is possible to implement in OBIEE 11g? (So far, all I've found is how to display data in OBIEE through consumation of web service(s), but I'd like to "push out" data to a web service from OBIEE).

OBIEE 11g Map question

Hi all,
We are using OBIEE 11g Mapviewer to display some results. We have point as well as polygon location geometries which combined with other dimensions display scores on the map.
It seems there is a restriction on the display graphics that can be used based on a geometry type. It is something like the following table:
Geometry Type - Graphic Format
Polygon - Color Fill, Bubble, Pie Graph, and Bar Graph
Point - Bubble, Variable Shape, Image, and Custom Point
We display a pie graph of scores on a given polygon and would like to keep it standard irrespective of the underlying geometry.
I was wondering if its possible to force use a Pie Graph on Point geometry?
Please let us know if there is a way to solve this. Really appreciate your time.

Really you just need to make sure the Responsibility names are the same as the Application Roles. So either you create new responsibilities in EBS to match the existing (seeded) roles or you create new roles in OBI Apps to match your existing responsibilites. Both ways round are valid and it all depends on your security solution.

Problem in Getting Count answer for the report in OBIEE 11g..

I created a report in OBIEE 11g, but i'm not getting the correct answer as i expected...I'm getting answer in presentation services but the answer is wrong..
I'll explain to you with an example report: Suppose in the report "NATIONALITY COUNT IN DEPARTMENT WISE" manner
i dragged the Nationality column from per_all_people_f which is dim table and i dragged the column that i applied aggregation rule "count" for the column "nation count" from per_all_assignments_f which is fact table......If i viewed answers means i'm getting correct answer
(i.e.) nation count per Nationality..........
NATIONALITY<---------------------->NATION COUNT
AUSTRALIA 40
INDIA 20
AFRICA 10
USA 5
The above is the answer I'm getting with out including the department column from hr_all_organization_units...........
But since according to the report i need count in department wise manner, so for that along with nationality and nation count column i dragged department column from hr_all_organization_units which is dim table and also i hide that column as i dont want to view the department column in answers..........
If i clicked answers, means then I'm not getting the nation count for the nationality......... I'm getting the answer 0 for each and every nationality, if i included the hided department column

AFRICA 0
AUSTRALIA 0
INDIA 0
USA 0
I'm getting answers like the above if i include the department dimension column which is in hided manner.........................

you said about writing query in DB.......whether U meant of trying checking the query in toad..or something else..........
Since im giving only one join from dim to fact in the physical diagram........
But more than one join exist between those dim and fact, but im giving only one join mainly the primary key column of the dimension table to the fact table....Whether i need to give all the joins that exist(even if it has 2 or 3 joins between those fact and dim) tables....
If i give count distinct means it is giving count for every nation as 1....like i mentioned below

How to set width of a prompt in OBIEE 11g?

Hi,
We have recently upgraded to OBIEE 11G.
In 10g all our prompts were fine. After upgrade, the prompts look distracted. All the prompts are Choice Lists.
The width of the prompts is varying depending on the width of the values that are coming from the DB.
Our requirement demands fixed width for the prompts. Is there any way to do it!!

Query execution process in OBIEE 11g

Hi all,
I am confused with Web logic server, enterprise manager server and other components of
Obiee 11g architecture with respect to query execution in Answers of Presentation services.
Please explain me in detail...from the login page i.e when a user logins
into the presentation services for query request. Explain how exactly the various
servers communicates starting from logging into presentation services (how exactly user authenticates),
then query execution (which servers communicates). I am confused with the flow of query process.

Column Sorting and Rowspanning not working in OBIEE 11g (worked in OBI 10)

Hi all,
i have a report with columns like this:
Customer Nbr. | Customer Name | Salesorder | EBIT | EBIT (Total p. Customer)
In the table view i have a total sum line at customer level.
The column "EBIT (Total p. Customer)" is an Aggregate with Formula (SUM(Invoices.Ebit) BY Customer."Customer Nbr.") which is exactly the same value as in the report sum line (column EBIT).
This Aggregate colum is only for sorting purposes and is hidden in the view.
The business case is:
"We want to see the EBIT per Salesorder for each customer, sorted from worst to best customer.
So i sorted by "EBIT (Total p. Customer)" ascending in criteria tab and adviced answers to show the sum for each customer (column customer nbr.) in the table definition view.
OBIEE 10 behaviour: Answers shows all customers sorted by EBIT (Total p. Customer), i see one line for each salesorder, the customer columns are rowspanned over all salesorder lines and there is exactly on sum line after each customer.
OBIEE 11 behaviour: Answers shows all customers sorted by EBIT (Total p. Customer), i see one line for each salesorder BUT there is one sum line after each salesorder too. So there is no sum at customer level but on salesorder level
Any idea how to solve this?
BTW:
1.) I still tried to place this column as the first (left) column in the report to get the right sorting ... with no success.
2.) Sorting data at BI Server level is NO option since there are some other reports with different sorting requirements
While searching in "Oracle Support" i found document ID: 1371247.1 "OBIEE 11g: How To Apply a Custom Sort in Answers" which says "... The functionality to custom sort in Answers does not currently exist There is an enhancement request for this functionality. For more information, see Bug 13261597 - be able to apply a custom sort in answers ..."
