Obiee 11G Installation problem

I had uninstalled Obiee 11.1.1.6.0 from Windows7 64-bit environment due to some issues.Next time when I tried to install it in the
same environment,the creation of ASInstance was failed due to some reason which is unknown to me.I have checked by dropping the schema
created by RCU earlier and also created a different schema using RCU still had no luck and faced the same error on Step 13 OF 14(Configuraion
Progress)
A part of my error log said the following:
Caused by: oracle.as.config.exception.LocationAlreadyUsedException: The oracle instance is not empty. Select a different location or remove the instance at this location.

Hello,
Have you installing both in different middleware home for example since you have already installed and configured on C:\Oracle\Middleware , then install OBIEE 11.1.1.1.6 using a simple install option on different middleware location like C:\OBIEE_Middleware.You should still be able to connect to essbase after you installing both.

OBIEE 11g installation failed multiple times at Distributing Repository Configuration Step

I am getting the following error during the Distributing Repository Configuration step in the OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.7 enterprise installation in Windows 8 system.

I checked another blog for this https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2565716 and even there the explanation doesn't convince me.
I tried to look at the Locale of my system where I am installing and I could see it is using Eng-Us by default. One way suggested to check the Unicode format from the web browser and I could check that too to be UTF-8 as suggested by someone on some other blog.
I checked in the logs too as suggested by the Installation dialogue box but it didn't seem much conclusive too.

Is there any way to check in command prompt to check the locale as required by the system.

Hi all,
We are able to resolve the above issue with the below solution.
Root cause of the issue:
You may have a temp directory in the path C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temp. You got the above mentioned exception because of the temp directory path having spaces_+ in it.
Solution:
1. Create a new directory called TEMP in a different location for ex: C:\TEMP
2. Now, Right click on My computer --> Properties --> Advanced --> click on Environment Variables.
3. You should be having TEMP and TMP as variables under user variables section pointing to the C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temp path.
4. Edit the TEMP and TMP variables and mention C:\TEMP in the variable value.
5. Deinstall and re-install OBIEE 11g.

OBIEE 11g installation - OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space

Hi All
OBIEE 11g installation fails at configuration step with the following error:
Creating a new AdminServer Object ...
AdminServer port is 7001
Starting the domain ...
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
We tried to set the set JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS in oraparam.ini file and ran the config.bat too.
While running config.bat, the setup is asking for "Scale out BI" and not for creating New domain.
So we are unable to continue with the installation.
Has anyone faced this error.
We are installing on Win7 64 bit machine.

If not try enabling permgen garbage collection with

OBIEE 11g installation over Oracle Express (XE)

During OBIEE 11g installation we are required to cofigure connection string to DB.
We installled Oracle Express (XE) on the same machine with default settings.
What should be the connection string in the DB details form?
Whether and if so, how should we configure the service in XE?

Port is usually 1521. DB Service name is the DB name that you assigned to your DB.

OBIEE 11g installation got struck in "Configuration Process"

Hi
I am trying to instal OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.5.0 on Win 7 computer on MS Sql server Express.
Every went smooth with RCU, and OBIEE 11g installation upto step 12.
Now in Step 13, 'Configuration Process', the installer got struck forever showing:
BI Configuration -> 0%
Creating Domain -> In Progress
and rest of all the items in 'Recommended' status.
How can I make this move forward?
I see no activity going on in logs etc. Looks like installer got struck 'creating domain' activity forever.

Error when trying to run the rcu.bat file as part of OBIEE 11g installation

when trying to run the rcu.bat file as part of OBIEE 11g installation on windows 7 64 bit I am getting the following error
"windows cannot find C:\Users\manoj\Desktop\Oracle.Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again".
Please help me how to overcome this error, I am not able to understand why it is looking for C:\Users\manoj\Desktop\Oracle.

after setting the ORACLE_HOME and Path environment variables also....I am still getting the same error...so is it like RCU can be run only on windows 7 32-bit machines and it does not work on 64-bit machines? and also it seems like the previous versions of OBIEE 10.1.3.X does not support windows 7 64-bit machines...
please help me finding a solution to this error....
and what are all the versions of OBIEE can be installed on windows 7 64-bit machines?
can't we install OBIEE 11g on windows 7 64-bit machines without including RCU?

OBIEE 11g installation stuck at step 12 of 14 (0% copying files...)

Hi All,
I am installing OBIEE 11g on Windows7 32Bit OS.
I have done with all the steps till step 11 without any error. However, ASA it starts the step 12 (i.e. Configuring WebLogic- Copying files...), installation stuck at 0% and do not continue. I waited for 8-10 Hrs but it never started copying files.
Also, I tried the installation numerous times, but every time I got the same problem.
I verified the logs as well, but there was no error.
Please help me to resolve the issue.

Yes, I got an idea, install OBIEE in a supported platform as your it's not supported at the moment:

OBIEE 11g performance problem

Hi,
I am facing a performance problem in OBIEE 11g. When I run the query taking from nqquery.log in database, it is giving me the result within few seconds. But In the OBIEE Answers the query runs forever not showing any data.

Hi Titas,
with such problems typically, at least for me, the cause turns out to be something simple and embarrassing like:
- I am connected to another database,
- The database is right but I have made some manual adjustments without committing them,
- I have got the wrong query from the query log,
- I have got the right query but my request is based on multiple queries.
Do other OBIEE reports work fine?
Have you tried removing columns one by one to see whether it makes a difference?

OBIEE 11g - serious problem when rotating columns into "table prompt" area

Hi, I'm hitting an OBIEE 11g issue that's causing huge problems on reports. Essentially, the problem is this - if I dump all the columns of a query to a table, everything looks fine. But if I rotate one of the columns into the "table prompts" area, OBIEE is actually resubmitting a WRONG query. The query format changes from:

I completely do not understand what is going on here. The second query has a ton of problems. First off, it's doing some type of UNION operation - no idea why it's doing that. And the real problem is that it's unioning results from a different fact table, FACT_LEDGER_period instead of FACT_LEDGER_ytd, which is completely screwing up our results.
Long and short, I simply don't understand at all why the query should change just from rotating a column up into the table prompt area.
Any ideas?

Now, on the table being chosen for picking up "ORG_ID_DESC" might be pretty much depending on the best source available as you know. If you would like BI Server to pick up any particular source, probably you could try the "LTS Priority Group" way.

OBIEE 11g installation errors

Hi Folks,
I have downloaded OBIEE 11g and Oracle 11g form Oracle downloads link successfully.
When i am trying to extract iam getting error no 0x80004005
i skipped that error and extracted files and then i installed on my laptop, but it was not installed properly, even by the time of installation i got some error messages i skipped and installed.
please let me know wat that error means and wat is the solution??
can i have to download again??
Please guide me i need this urgency....

Hi Surendra,
1. You can use your otn username/pwd for downloading the software.
2. Use this link https://edelivery.oracle.com for downloading the OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 version software.
3. Enter your OTN credentials and accept the agreement by checking the checkboxes.
4. In the select a product pack option you choose Oracle Business Intellignece and in the platform you need to choose your platform either windows or linux etc and click on Go Button.
5. When you click on go button a list will be displayed and within that you select Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) if your OS is Microsoft windows 32 bit or else it will display according to the platform versions which you choose already and after this click on continue button.
6. As OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 comes in 5 different parts and the below given are the part names which you need to download it.

Strange OBIEE 11g URL problem

Hi, I'm implementing OBIEE 11g at work, and I'm seeing something odd I've never experienced before. When I'm inside the firewall, if I go to the URL http://servername:9704/analytics, everything works fine. But if I'm outside of the firewall and use the same URL, it doesn't work (at all). Instead I have to use http://servername:9704/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome (at which point, everything works fine).
It seems like somehow there is a redirection going on that doesn't work from outside the firewall, but is fine inside of it. Any ideas where I need to look to figure out what the problem is and fix it? (note - I'm not savy with WebLogic....)

have faced the same issue, just try with hostname. then it should worke and
go the window/system32/drivers/ect/host......this is the way we can change url path,
My URL path is based on my domain name and system DNS. I gave IP address and gave path like reports.abc.com
1)
change it the IP addresss/host name see the below path and change it
Drive\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\instanceconfig.xml**
change it under <Hosts></Hosts> tab
2) also change it drive:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obis1
