java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
domain creation is still running and looks like it is struck to start domain no idea how to solve the issue. waiting to see whether domain creation successful.
Please let me know how to fix this issue.
Thanks

Hi,
Have you try to increase MaxPermSize, it may occure memory issue.
change the Middleware/ORACLE_BI1/oui/oraparam.ini and fine it like below
JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=" -mx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m" then try to change it
JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=" -mx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=2048m"
(i.e:It will increase the numbers for allocating more memory) then save it and then try to run config.bat (software only/enterprise) method and configure it.
Thanks

Fail installing OBIEE 11g on Oracle Linux 5 64 bits
Hello,
I am trying to install OBIEE 11g over Oracle Linux 5 (64 bits), but I can't. I have the following issue:
INST-07008: Validation of Oracle Home location failed. User does not have permission to create home/instance location
INST-07282: Specified Middleware home location does not exist
In the Oracle Middleware Home, I have specified "/root/Oracle/Middleware".
I have following these steps:
1) Install Oracle DB 11g R2 (OK)
2) Install jdk for Linux 64 bits (OK)
3) Install weblogic
I have done the installation as "root" user
Middleware Home Directory = /root/oracle/Middleware (OK)
4) Install RCU as root (OK)
5) Install OBI 11g
To execute ./runInstaller it is necessary be as oracle user.
I have changed permissions in /root/Oracle/Middleware (chmod 777), but the issue is the same.
I appreciate any idea to solve the issue.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Monica.Hello,
no, I have installed OBIEE as oracle user with software only option, with root isn't possible.
So, I don't know if it is necessary I installed WebLogic as oracle user to have permission in middleware path...

Automation of OBIEE 11G services in Linux OS
Hi
We have a requirement for the automation of OBIEE 11G services in Linux OS whenever system reboots. I came to know that this can be achieved by a shell script, however, not certain about it. It would be grateful if any workaraound/pointers/documentation to achieve this is shared.
Thanks.HI
The mentioned link has scripts for linux, but I need for windows and I tried some script which I found online but I am getting some errors which are in bold below

Shell script for running obiee 11g services in linux
Hi
We have a requirement to create a shell script inorder to run OBIEE 11G services in Linux OS. It would be very helpful and greatly appreciated if any pointer(s)/documentation on this is provided.
Thankswe had run the scripts using nohup "nohup ./startWeblogicServer.sh &" and reopened putty to run other nodemanager and opmnctl scripts, now everything has started and working fine.
Thanks all.. -

You have the wrong Java version installed. Do you already have another Forms version installed (like Forms 10g)? I ask this because Java 1.4.2_06 installs with the Oracle Developer Suite 10g. For Fusion Middleware 11g (Forms 11g) you need to have Java 1.6 installed. If you already have Java 1.6 installed, then you will need to modify your System PATH so that it lists Java 1.6 before Java 1.4. The error you are getting, "stderr=[java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError" is because Java 1.4 doesn't support the method the installer is using. Run the following command from a Command/Dos window: "Java -version". If it does not show Java 1.6.0_??, then your PATH is still not setup correctly or you don't have Java 1.6.0 installed.

Hi,
We have an exisiting OBIEE 10g installed on AIX-64 bit and DB2 9.7.
We brought it down and have started a fresh install of OBIEE 11.1.1.6 under a new Filesystem.
While Installing OBIEE 11.1.1.6, the Install errors at Configuration Step when it tries to create a Domain.
Here's the extract from the log :

OBIEE 11.1.1.5 install Hangs at Domain Creation.
Hi There,
I tried installing OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on Windows 7, 64 bit several times and its very disappointing it hangs at the domain creation. Tried everything the previous posts suggest, but no success,
1. Intstalled Oracle11g.
2. Installed loop back adopter.
2. RCU to create schemas.
3. Installed OBIEE 11.1.1.5
It did not work and finally, some other forums suggested to install in 2 steps, software Install Only and then configuration. For this I performed following additional steps
1. Installing Weblogic server, starting it to see if its working.
2. Changed the Java path to be under C: \ so it doesn't include spaces in the file path.
3. Software install only.
4. Config.cmd under the oracle directory.
Can somebody please help me, have been trying for few weeks now, and feel very very unaccomplished.
The last few lines of log file shows
Creating a new AdminServer Object ...
AdminServer port is 7002
Starting the domain ...
LOADING DLL : C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI\install\config\\StartUtil64.dll
DEBUG : Loading DLL : C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI\install\config\\StartUtil64.dll
DEBUG : Loaded DLL : C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI\install\config\\StartUtil64.dll
After this it hangs and never comes back, appreciate any guidance please,
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!Hi,
As you say, the OBIEE installation is hanging at the DOMAIN Creation, I suspect the JDK installation location here. I think the web logic domain creation tool just cannot run when the JDK is installed in say c:\Program Files\JAVA etc (any directory with a space). I think this is a bug.
Can you please let me know, if have JDK installed somewhere like this?
In this case, can you please rollback your installation and install JDK in say C:\JAVA and let us know if this works.
You might want to run the weblogic domain creation wizard through <wl_home>\common\bin\config.cmd to identify if its the same cause.
Hope this helps.
Thank you,

OBIEE 11g install fails on step 7 (database connect string)
I've currently spent 2 days trying to install OBIEE 11g on two machines (independently). This first is a Windows XP SP3 test PC running 4GB RAM, whilst the second is a Windows 2003 virtual server with 3GB RAM. The Database is Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4.0) on AIX 5.3.
The DBA has successfully run the RCU on the Database and the schemas needed for OBIEE have been created. The BIPLATFORM schema has also been granted DBA privileges.
Now I've tried to run both the simple and the Enterprise install for OBIEE 11g, but it always fails at the same step (step 7 of 13: Database details). I have selected the following:
Database Type: Oracle Database
Connect String: hostname:port:instance, where hostname is the full server path eg xxxxx.uk.com and instance name is FFADEV01
BIPLATFORM Schema Username: As per username defined in RCU
BIPLATFORM Schema Password: As per password entered in RCU
If i change the connection string to FFADEV01.WORLD i get a 08031 error, whereas I am normally getting an 08035 error. The annoying thing is that I can connect to the schema using RapidSQL and the usernames and passwords as created in the RCU.
Any help greatly appreciated. ThanksHow was he able to install the BIPlATFORM schema using RCU on AIX? I thought RCU was only on Linux and Window platforms? I am about to install OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on AIX with a Oracle 10g DB but from what I read I wont be able to create the needed OBIEE schemas for the install because I won't be able to use the RCU on AIX. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Running OBIEE 11g services for Linux
Hi everybody,
I would like to know the way to start OBIEE 11g services in a Linux (Red Hat) machine.
As far as I have seen in the web, there are four main steps to perform in order to make OBIEE running:
Run WebLogic.
Run NodeManager.
Run ManagedServer.
Run OBI Components (using OPMN).
The problem I have is that in our installation there is no ManagedServer (bi_server1). Therefore I deduce that OBIEE was installed as simple version (actually I don’t know where I can see whether it is simple or enterprise version). So the question in my case is: how to run OBIEE services without ManagedServer? Otherwise, is there any way to upgrade from simple to enterprise version, or I should just uninstall and then install the enterprise version?
Thanks in advance,
Hibai. Thanks for the reply Sasi. Now I know that we have a Simple Installation.
Anyway, I'm still not able to make OBIEE available. If I execute the commands you provided me, I see some errors in corresponding created files. However, running them without nohup option and without any other parameter (just the .sh file), WebLogic appears available and OBI components seem to be running as well:
Processes in Instance: instance1
---------------------------------+--------------------+---------+---------
ias-component | process-type | pid | status
---------------------------------+--------------------+---------+---------
coreapplication_obiccs1 | OracleBIClusterCo~ | 11313 | Alive
coreapplication_obisch1 | OracleBIScheduler~ | 11312 | Alive
coreapplication_obijh1 | OracleBIJavaHostC~ | 11314 | Alive
coreapplication_obips1 | OracleBIPresentat~ | 11315 | Alive
coreapplication_obis1 | OracleBIServerCom~ | 11311 | Alive
Am I doing something wrong? In principle the steps you mentioned (which are also those ones that I was executing the previous days) have been executed properly, so I'm a bit confused.
Thanks again,
Hibai. -
OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit - Error while configuring????
Hi Experts,
I am installing OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit. And I followed below steps:
1. Installed JDK 64 bit.
2. Installed Weblogic Server with 64 bit JDK.
3. Installed OBIEE 11g - Software only Installation.
4. Ran configuration script. cofig.bat.
5. Configuration Wizard opened and during the configuration process(step 10 of 11) got an error. Refer below screen shot for the error.
6. I got the same error when I tried installing 11g on Win server 2003 32 bit and I installed JRocket MissionControl and reinstalled 11g and there are no errors.
7. So, remembering that I installed JRocket Mission Control 64 bit.
8. Un installed previous 11g.
9. Reinstalled 11g on Windows 7 64 bit.
10 And coming to configuration part it gave same error. Don't know what to do.............can any one help me at this point.
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/1342/obiee11gconfigerror.jpg
Thanks in advance,
DKHi All,
I've got the same error but with the installation of OBIEE 11g on Windows 32-bit.
I also tried to continue the installation, but I've got another error in the Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obisch1.
Even with those errors, I finished the installation but of course I've some problem with the presentation server and webLogic, becasue they're not configured properly.
Any idea how to solve the problem?
Thanks -
OBIEE 11g install - is C drive the only drive that will work?
Anyone know if the installation needs to be done on the C drive only . i tried to specify the middleware home on the d drive and got stuck with an error at 98%
Invalid weblogic home specified: D:\app\OBIEE11g\wlserver_10.3
I havent encountered this when installing on the C drive . Oracle's documentation does not specify this requrement . does anyone know if this is a requirement? Any tips on a clean uninstall for the OBIEE 11g server ?Hi Team,
While installing OBIEE11g with database 11g the installation getting successful at 98% and Post installation steps are executing and getting hanged.

Starting OBIEE 11g services in Linux
Hi Gurus,
I have installed OBIEE 11g on Linux 32 bit machine, Procedure i used to follow to start the services, using putty:
1. Run ./startWeblogic.sh after it comes to running mode, it comes back to $
2. After it returns to $, i start nodeManager.sh
but now, after i do the first step from putty, though running mode has come, it is not coming back to $ where i can start the node manager, hence i am unable to start node manager from the $ console
Is this a server problem? pls help..
I did Ctrl+c and tried starting startWeblogic.sh again, but its again stopping at running mode and not returning to $
Kindly advice what can be done
Thanks,
Sree.we had run the scripts using nohup "nohup ./startWeblogicServer.sh &" and reopened putty to run other nodemanager and opmnctl scripts, now everything has started and working fine.
Thanks all.. -

Two questions related to OBIEE 11g setup in Linux
Hi,
1.Do we need to setup JDK 1.6 and above before installing OBIEE? as per below post OBIEE uses it's own JDK.
OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 (64 bit)
2. Do we need to configure DHCP loopback adapter in Linux as well as we do in windows? If Yes how can I do it in Linux?
Please let me know the answers ASAP.
Thanks
Jay.Hi Jay,
1.Do we need to setup JDK 1.6 and above before installing OBIEE?Not required
2. Do we need to configure DHCP loopback adapter in Linux as well as we do in windows? If Yes how can I do it in Linux? On Linux x86 operating systems, configure the host to resolve host names to the loopback IP address by modifying the /etc/hosts file to contain the following entries:
127.0.0.1 hostname.domainname hostname
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
After doing so, check that the host name resolves to the loopback IP address by entering the following command:
/bin/ping hostname.domainname
