Obiee Chart Issue

Hi Frnds,
I'm Using Obiee 10g.
I have a report with 2 columns Department name, no. of employees.
HR 50
Admin 100
Science 4
Computers 40
Testing 2
Datatype for no. of employees - number.
I want suppress the values which are below 5 i.e. i wish to show them as 'S'.
So, i used cast function and with help of case statement - i was able to show the following.
Case statement: case when table.no_of_employees > 5 then cast (table.no_of_employees as char) else 'S' end.
HR 50
Admin 100
Science S
Computers 40
Testing S
But, Now i wish to show the graph 'Horizontal Bar' Graph chart.
When, i try to create a graph b/w department name , no. of employees - i get the following error
Aggregate with non-numeric storage encountered (Check column formula)

How Can i Get a Graph ?

Hi,
You should not built the report with the column which you have changed as 'S' since chart can be drawn with the numeric values.
Try to create a new column with the same column which you modified as 'S', but without the 'S' change.
Here instead of 'S' display as 0. Then in the graph use the the new column and graph will appear but the graph will show at 0 value for that column.

Chinese Data in OBIEE Chart Reports

Hello All,
I'm facing an issue with OBIEE Chart report . We have some data as Chinese in database.
When displaying these on OBIEE Chart , it is shown as boxes.
This is happening only with OBIEE Charts . Looks like chinese characters are not supported by OBIEE Charts.
Please let me know if there is a way to fix this.

I-pad does not render OBIEE charts/graph

OBIEE charts graph shows on PC but does not show on apple ipad

OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 is not certified on any mobile device browser.
The tables and other lay out shows crystal clear on i-pad but Charts does not display. Is it because of Flash not supported on i-pad? Any way around?

In short:
1- Add those two lines to your instanceconfig.xml to generate png instead of flash chart (because flash is not supported)

3- in Buiness indicators enter your environment URL adress and put your administrator user password.

Chart issues in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0

1> The column on which ordering is based must be used in the Chart, else the ordering does not occur inspite of it being present in the criteria.
2> The Graph properties do not contain any option of removing Report Navigation / Interaction unlike the 10 g application.
Are their any work around for the above mentioned Graph issues.

Try these
1. Edit the NQSConfig.INI file to reset the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES to NO and restart the Oracle BI Servers.
2. Remove, set to none, or comment out the line (see UpgradeAndExit in the following example) added to the instanceconfig.xml file (that instructs Oracle BI Presentation Server to refresh GUIDs on restart).

OBIEE 11g - issue when export hierarchy to a csv

Hello,
I have an issue when I try to export to a csv file a report containing a Logical Dimension field, when I export just the first level of hierarchy is exported and not all the records. When I export to another format (such as excel) all the records are exported correctly. Do you know what can I do in order to have all the records exported to a csv?

SSRS 2008 R2 Line Chart Issue

when Empty point option Value is set Average
I tried sorting on Category Group as suggested by Sean Boon in the URL mentioned above. But, still the issue is not fixed.

SSRS 2008 Line Chart Issue.

We are facing an issue with SSRS 2008 charts. We have a report which shows dynamic number of series on a line chart. The data values may not exist for all series for
the same x axis points. We expected SSRS to connect the missing points as average and have set the empty point option to average.
The issue is that the
1)
lines for interpolated points only appear when we set the color of empty point to say red and not when it is set to automatic. We need the interpolated line in the same auto
colour as the original line as we will have markers for the data points from the DB and no markers for empty points.
2)
The interpolated lines extend backwards in the series also – we expect it to only fill the gaps and not extend backward or forward.
Are these issues known and is there a work around for these issues ? We got your name from one of the SSRS community discussions. Could you please connect us with
the right person if you are not the right contact for this issue ?
I also got following reply from one of the MS guy, it says

The lines should not go backward. I have seen this happen before and I’ll have to double-check on what that occurs. If you
are using a Category Axis, make sure you set the sorting to use a Cdate() expression. I think that might be it ,but I’ll have to double check.
As far as using the auto-coloring on the series when you have empty points like this, I don’t think that’s possible. It would require
a DCR. You may need to implement something along the lines described in this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964128(SQL.90).aspx.
When I tried the suggestions I over come the auto colouring issue and also used CDATE () but lines still extend bacawords. Can anyone suggest what to do it this situation

Firstly, I am not sure who is that MS guy you mentioned without the detail name. Based on my understanding to your issue, I think you could utilize the function
IsNothing in reoprting services to have a check whether the value is null, if it is Null, you should give a average value to this point, if not leave it to be the original value. Of course, you could achieve this in T-SQL. To
the color and marker, we could type in the expression in both feature to control their display effort.

OBIEE 11G - Issue passing parameters between two reports

Hi folks,
I am struggling to pass parameters between two reports in OBIEE 11G.
My first report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type (VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
My second report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type(VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Category(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
My requirement is to pass the Rolling Year Type, Year and Month values from report 1 to report 2.
On the Month column properties of report 1, I have created an Action Link called 'Drill to Category'. I have clicked on 'Navigate to BI Content' and selected Report 2.
Then on Report 2, I have included three filters: Rolling Year Type is prompted, Year is prompted, Month is promted.
When I run the report I always get the following error:
The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters and/or selections that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Analysis Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below.
When I check the cursor cache, the filter values are correct. Does anybody have any idea why Report 2 does not display?
When I remove the Month filter, the report works correctly.
I have since changed the third filter to be Month No and although Report 2 does display, it does not pick up the filter on the Month No.
I initially thought this may have been a caching issue and so I have disabled BI Server Cache but this does not fix my problem.
This was never an issue on OBIEE 10G as I found it very easy to navigate between two requests.
Has anyone else experienced problems with passing parameters between two request in 11G?

I once tried this kind of requirement(with dashboard prompts though) and hit at similar issue. I later found out that the problem is with the space in the parameter values. Can you please let me know, if the same is the case with you?
Suppose the parameter passed is "Jan 2010", but the report on the destination takes the value as "Jan" & "2010". Yes, it kind of split the parameter value to two based on space. I think we can notice the filters the destination report got, by enabling filter view.
In this case, since you pass only value at a time, could you try placing the parameter value anyway in double quotes? I think the Server then will understand it as one value.

OBIEE 11g - issue when export to a csv file

Hello,
I have an issue when I try to export to a csv file a report having numeric feild, when I export and open the file in notepad the trailing zeros to the right of decimal points do not show up. When export to another formats (such as excel, pdf) the trailing zeros appears correctly. e..g, 100.00 appears as 100, 100.50 appears as 100.5.
Do you know what can be done in order to have trailing zeros to the right of decimal points to appear in a csv?

OBIEE 11G: Issue with Agent

Hello All,
I am trying to make agent work in OBIEE 11G together with Active Directory settings but the agent are failling for some users. Some users are not able to send the ibots:
We get the following message with Agent Failed:
Agent ID: XXXXXXX
No devices for user: XXXX
Agent ID: XXXXXXXX
No Content for user: XXXX
Kindly note that I have already checked the My Account of these users and the email address is well present there.
Can anyone help us investigate on this issue.

In OBIEE charts, how do you make drill downs work on custom formulas?

I posted this over on Linked In and didn't get an anser, so I'm hoping someone here has an answer.
I'm writing a summary query / chart for a dashboard in OBIEE 10.1 with a drill down (technically it's a "navigation") for more information. This chart breaks down the data by fiscal quarter and by geography (both are columns in the subject area) and I can get this drill down to work just fine. But I also have this chart broken down by some custom calculated fields (CASE WHEN statements) that classify revenue into Forecast / At Risk / Upside etc. (which are not columns or values of columns within the subject area).
When I add a drill down or navigate function onto those calculated columns, I'm getting a full data set ... not a filtered data set for that particular calculated field. (Yes, I have all of the IS PROMPTED filters set up correctly, and yes the formulas in the source and destination queries are identical).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the drill down or navigation work on custom formulas?

We are using SAP PPM 5.0 (cProject), unable to display the Gantt chart. Kindly suggest me what setting need to done to display Gantt chart. In URL for created project if I click for Graphical tab to display gantt chat, it just through out JAVA symbol error.

Charts Issue in 10g

Hi expers,
When I tick "Chart Pivot Results" check box, I can use chart in the pivot view, however,I am facing two issue.
Firstly, when I use pie chart for showing data, I want to truncate label name .
For example, there are two columns named Date and Item in rows area , if I want to see data through chart, the label name will be long,like 12/30/2011,item11539, so clients only want to see item11539 ,not 12/30/2011 information.
Secondly, when you cilck chart every area, you will navigate other detail report for filter value through passing parameter.

You have a pivoted view of chart and you want to have both pivote table and chart view in results. to achive follow the below steps
1. crete pivote table as per req
2. create another pivote view same as above or make duplicate from above and hide date or move it to excude section and check chart pivot results and in chart position dropdown select chart only.
3. now you can see pivote table and desired chart view in compound view.
4. If you want to drill or navigate from chart then configure the same in additional chart options in edit chart view.
