OBIEE issues in Linux env

Too many BI processes running in Linux

There seems to be too many similar processes that seem to be running at the same time, has anybody else faced a similar issue. Is this an installation issue?
2) Also we are not able to view the NQQuery log file too, when i try to open the log file from the Manage Sessions screen i get the following message
from the Admin --> Manage Session page.

  • Starting OBIEE 11g on Linux 64 bit

    Hi,
I installed OBIEE 11g on Linux 64 bit and it worked fine after installation. I rebooted the system and I need to start it again.
    I am trying to run
    run-sa.sh
    run-saw.sh
    etc.
but it looks like the scripts are broken:
./run-saw.sh: line 43: syntax error near unexpected token `('
    ./run-saw.sh: line 43: `ANA_INSTALL_DIR=$N($P(installLocation))'
it looks like these scripts were not processed by the installer during installation, $N($P(installLocation)) should have been replaced by the installer with actual paths I assume.
is there another way to start OBIEE?
    Thanks,
    Calin

Are you sure you are running OBIEE 11g? YOu are meant to use those scripts any more in 11g. See this post:

    Hi,
I am getting the following error on LINUX IN presentation server log.

On Windows its working fine and when i copy the RPD Linux server and try to login its not logging in.
    Please help.

    Hi User,
It seems to be a Unix server crash.
    I have few questions :
    1) Are you using OBIEE 10g (10.1.3.4)?. It seems to be a bug on 10.1.3.4 to do with the ldap library.
2)Can you login as Administrator and check the report? . What about the login status for normal user?
If your case is as an adminstrator, you can login and see the report while for a normal user you can't able to view then
Do the following steps to fix the issue: (To start up the OBIEE Server)
    abipatst:-$ more StartBIEE.sh
    #!/bin/ksh
    . $HOME/BIEE/10.1.3.4/setup/sa-init.sh
    export LD_PRELOAD=$HOME/BIEE/10.1.3.4/server/Bin/libibmldap.so
    $HOME/BIEE/10.1.3.4/setup/run-sa.sh start
    $HOME/BIEE/10.1.3.4/setup/run-sch.sh start

  • Requirement to upgrade OBIEE 10g on Windows to OBIEE 11g on Linux

    Dear All,
I have a requirement to upgrade OBIEE 10g from current windows 2003 environment to OBIEE 11g Linux environment.
I went through forums and many threads on upgrade, everywhere they talk about Upgrade Assistant (UA). And oracle documentation says ,
+"Do not change from one platform or architecture to a different platform or architecture as part of the upgrade process.+
+For example, if the existing 10g system is running on a Windows 32-bit platform, do not install Oracle BI 11g on a Linux 64-bit platform and then run the Linux 64-bit Upgrade Assistant to upgrade the existing 10g system."+
But there would certainly be scenarios with other users the way I have. Then what is the way out to do this upgrade?
Can anyone give some advice on this. It is little urgent.
    Thanking in advance.
    Regards,
    Deepika.

Thats are huge change in platform. win32 to linux 64.
Yet what we upgrade is only
    catalog and rpd.
this might involve some manual change if UA cannot complete successfully.
Its better to do a prototype before the actual upgrade as recommended by Oracle. This will show what can the possible issues and road blocks.

  • Adding a XML Data source in Obiee 11g on Linux

Hi guys, I need your help.
I'm creating a new database in the physical layer as XML.
On the connection pool (named xml_source), I’m setting the path to the XML file, inside the datasourse name, with this format: /u01/app/xmltest/
My XML test file is this: xml_test.xml, So in the table information, I’m setting the xml file name as this: xml_test (without the xml extension)
The issue is when I’m trying to issue the SQL, the error message displayed says:
Query Failed: [nQSError: 64023] cannot access /u01/app/xmltest\xml_test.xml: No such file or directory
As you can read in the error message there is a “\” just before the xml file. So in Linux it is not a "\" but a "/", why is obiee setting a wrong path? How can I "tell" obiee that this is a Linux environment not a Windows?
    Thank you in advance.

Sorry for my mistake, but I've found a tab called XML in the Physical Table properties. I've set the entire URL to the file and now I'm able to issue sql queries to it. Thanks!

  • Multiple OBIEE installations on Linux

Are there any issues or gotchas to installing multiple full OBIEE infrastructures (specifically, OAS 10.1.3.3.0 and OBIEE 10.1.3.4.0) on a RH Linux box? I want to have two separate stacks present, one acting as Dev and one as UAT on the same hardware, if possible. Is this even possible? How adaptive are the various components (OAS, OBIEE) to port selection when the default ports are already in use? And if it can be "done" then should it be done with the second install done within a separate shell account / owner, or can I simply install additional ORACLE_HOMES (and ORACLEBI_HOMEs and ORACLEBIDATA_HOMEs...) under the same shell account?

    Bob,
there're no issues to what you're trying to accomplish - just make sure the port #s are different (bi server and presentation services)...
I'd suggest a different account for simplicity sake - but you should be fine with different homes
Do you have a copy of a deployment guide?
    Also check this thread

  • OBIEE 11g on linux

    HI all
I have downloaded the oracle 11g and obiee 11g version for Linux 86-64
Thinking that regardless of my Linux OS version I might be able to install on both 32 and 64 bit.
But as I got down downloading ubuntu there are only single flavours either 64 or 32 bit
I want to know if I download and install 64 bit version will the above oracle applications (86-64) work
If not what would be the easiest way to settle this.
    Edited by: U1111B on 15-Jul-2011 05:10

If you are going to Linux with your Oracle BI install you might as well go with Oracle Unbreakable/Enterprise Linux.
This is also in-line with the RedHat kernel but it is actually certified to work. And you still are able to pull from the additional YUM repositories like RPMForge as well as the Oracle Unbreakable/Enterprise Linux repositories for Free.
You may wind up with small issues on CentOS even though it is a flavor of Red Hat. But, whatever you do, don't installl OBIEE on Ubuntu.

  • PAGESTREAM=YES does not work in LINUX Env

    Hi ,
Where in the application server can we specify, the cache directory the browser or apache has to look for the report output after report has run.
MY issue is that , I run a report and the browser shows it up. But when i add the parameter pagestream=YES in the report URL ,it says page not found.
This happens in a linux environment but not when the same report is run ona 10gas windows env.
Any help in this regard is appreciated
    Thanks,
    Ashok

    Hello,
Did you check the HTML code returned to the browser ?
    Menu View -> Source.
When PAGESTREAM=YES is added, some HTML code is returned
to the browser with FRAMESET and FRAME tags in order to
"split " the window in two. a BASE HREF tag is added too.
Can you check this tag BASE HREF ?

  • Odbc driver error while OBIEE instal on LINUX tries to access Datawarehouse

    Hi All,
I have installed OBI Apps on a LINUX machine. The ETL too ran successfully. As we can't install BI tool on LINUX I modified the OracleBIAnalyticsApps.rpd file on a Windows machine and copied it back to the LINUX machine. After modifying the NSQConfig.ini file I could see all the OBI Apps answers and Dashboards ie OBI Apps was installed on LINUX.But whwnever I try to access some data from OLAP i get the following error:

Probably this is because all the DSN specified in the rpd file were present on the Windows machine.I don't know how to modify these values for LINUX.Please help.Nothing is mentioned in the install docc as far as LINUX installation is concerned.
    regards,
    Soumya.

I think when your BI Server is running on linux, you would use native drivers to connect to your data warehouse database and not ODBC. If your data warehouse is on a oracle db server, change the call interfact in the RPD connection pool to OCI and give the tnsname for the db server connection in the connection pool.
