Object Type database and BC4J

Hi everybody
I have an object type defined in oracle and I attached that type to one of my tables as a type of a column in that type, assume addr type and table customer with column address
and its type addr.
In BC4J , I created a domain for the type and after that, I added an entity object for my table and I chose the type of that column as the domain I created, after that view object and after that application module.
Now I want to test my application module.
It doesn't bring the fields of that type for data entry. how can I enter something inot my address column?
Please help and thanks for that.

Specifically, see the "Batch Client Tutorial" which is part of the following sample Workspace:
.\samples\BC4J\OrderEntry\OnlineOrdersForClients\OnlineOrdersForClients.jws
The TestClient.java and TestClient2.java files illustrate best-practice techniques for using the BC4J client API's for working with master/detail coordinated rowsets in a tier-independent manner using the basic oracle.jbo.* interfaces, as well as custom interfaces that expose methods to the clients. TestClient2.java illustrates working with an attribute of (domain) type TAddress which was created on top of an Oracle8 type T_ADDRESS.

    the check against P_HAP_DOC object. Any hints why this happens? F.ex 2005 IDES system we have performs these checks ok.

    Hi Carlos,
    The Otype VA - Template, VB- Criteria group and VC - Criterion.
    The hierarchy is as follows
    VC is blow VB is below VA.
    The objects as such wil be created in the HRP1000 as usual.
    In addition, there are tables which starts with HRHAP* which holds the appraisal document related data.
    But the table contents cannot be seen from SE11 or SE16. Create a SQ01 Quick viewer query for the Database tables.
    Hope this helps.

  • [Qualif.] Difference between object type 'Q' and infotype 0024

    Hi,
    For the xRPM 4.0 solution, we need to maintain skills for resources. There is a HCM integration functionality to import skills from a HR system to Business Partners (which - basically - represent users that can be staffed on a project in the xRPM solution).
    Today, there is no skill management in our HR system.
    There are 2 notions that look very similar to me :
    - <b>Infotype 0024</b> [Transaction PA20/PA30] : contains Qualifications of a user in PA (Personal Adminsitration) with the standard table T574A holding the possible values
    - <b>Organizational Structure</b> (HRP1000/HRP1001) [transaction BP / PP* ?]: with the objects Qualifications 'Q' and Qualifications Group 'QK'
    It seems taht the integration operates on the Organizational Structure. But we would like to assess both solutions.
    <b>What is the difference (pros&cons) between the 2 of them ?</b>
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Guillaume

    To be precise, the way Infotype 24 behaves depends on whether integration between PA and PD is active.  This is controlled by setting PLOGI QUALI in table T77S0.  There are also other settings in this table that affect how quals work in an integrated scenario, you will find these in the QUALI XXXX section.
    If integration is active, the qualifications are maintained in a catalogue via transaction OOQA.  What you see in IT0024 are the object Q <--> P relationships as mentioned above once a qualification object has been assigned to the employee.  This option has the advantages of being able to use the integrated objects in othe modules e.g. as prerequisites or imparted quals in the training module, skills/requirements matchup etc.  The down side is that being PD objects, these are more difficult to report with SAP Query or Adhoc Query tools, but there are ways of doing it.
    If integration is not active, the data is simple stored in PA table PA0024 and the quals themselves are set up via the IMG.  The data really can't be used in any other module, but the reporting aspects are much easier with the standard query tools.

  • Member function and member procedure inside an object type in Oracle.

    Hi All,
    Please do have a look at these codes and help me understand. I have no idea about this member function and member procedure. How do they work? Please explain me about this.
    Regards,
    BS2012
    create type foo_type as object (
      foo number,
      member procedure proc(p in number),
      member function  func(p in number) return number
    create type body foo_type as
      member procedure proc(p in number) is begin
        foo := p*2;
      end proc;
      member function func(p in number) return number is begin
        return foo/p;
      end func;
    end;
    /

    Methods are just like functions or procedures in a package, except they're not in a package, their part of an object type.
    The object has attributes (which are the variables declared in it).
    To use such an object you would do things like this...
    SQL> set serverout on
    SQL>
    SQL> declare
      2    v_foo foo_type;
      3    v_val number;
      4  begin
      5    v_foo := foo_type(20); -- instantiate the object and initialize the object attributes
      6    v_foo.proc(20); -- call the object method (proc)
      7    v_val := v_foo.func(4); -- call the object method (func)
      8    dbms_output.put_line(v_val);
      9  end;
    10  /
    10
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.The Type definition you've declared creates the object class, but not actually an object itself.
    To actually have an object you need to declare a variable of that object class type, and then instantiate it. When you instantiate the object you need to initialize all the attributes (generally you can pass null if required for each of them to initialize them).
    Once you have your object instantiated, you can call the methods within that object as demonstrated above, a bit like calling functions and procedures in a package, except they are methods within the object type itself, and therefore called directly by referencing them from the variable.
    The documentation goes into a lot more detail of objects if you look it up.

  • Working with oracle object type tables

    Hi,
    I've created a table which only contains Oracle object types (e.g. CREATE TABLE x OF <...>). When I create an Entity for this table using the Entity wizard, I end up with an entity with the attributes of the base object type and two special attributes REF$ (reference to the object type instance) and SYS_NC_OID$ (unique object identifier). The REF$ attribute is on the Java side of type oracle.jbo.domain.Ref and the other attribute is on the Java side a simple String.
    It seems this only allows me to save objects of the base type in this table. First of all in my situation this is also impossible because the base type is not instantiable. What I do want is to save several different subtypes into this table using the BC4J custom domain mechanism. Is there any way to make this possible? I first thought I could maybe do something with the special REF$ attribute, but this doesn't seem te case. So I might need to override most of the EntityImpl methods, like doUML, remove etc. Am I right? And does anyone have any hints on how to do this?

    this possible? Sorry, but this is not supported out of the box.
    Since you have an object table, you wouldn't use domains to achieve this. Instead, you would have a superclass and subclass entity objects, e.g., PersonEO subclassed into StudentEO and EmployeeEO.
    I first thought I could maybe do
    something with the special REF$ attribute, but this
    doesn't seem te case. So I might need to override
    most of the EntityImpl methods, like doUML, remove
    etc. Am I right? And does anyone have any hints on
    how to do this?
    If you want, you can try this by overridding EntityImpl's:
       protected StringBuffer buildDMLStatement(int operation,
          AttributeDefImpl[] allAttrs,
          AttributeDefImpl[] retCols,
          AttributeDefImpl[] retKeys,
          boolean batchMode)
    and
       protected int bindDMLStatement(int operation,
          PreparedStatement stmt,
          AttributeDefImpl[] allAttrs,
          AttributeDefImpl[] retCols,
          AttributeDefImpl[] retKeys,
          HashMap retrList,
          boolean batchMode) throws SQLException
    Handle the case when operation == DML_INSERT.
    There, build an insert statement with substitutable row, e.g.:
    INSERT INTO persons VALUES (person_t('Bob', 1234));
    INSERT INTO persons VALUES (employee_t('Joe', 32456, 12, 100000));
    where person_t and employee_t are database types and you are invoking the respective constructor.
    Thanks.

  • How can I use object type in Jdeveloper 11g?

    Dear friends
    I made some object types(Database layer) and each one refer to functions or procedures to generate table or view, for instance in one of my project I could make a View Object with this function and generate a table:
    Select * from table (genarate_emp(2019))
    In this sample I used a static value (2019) and I did it perfectly, but I want to make a table with dynamic value for instance I would like to set partial trigger of this view object and get dynamic value from the other view object.
    Please help me if you have any suggestions.
    Best regards,
    Babak Saraie

    Hi Babak
    It's a common requirement on posting to this forum that you describe which version of JDeveloper you're using and what technologies (obviously ADF BC in this case).
    For making the static value dynamic within your View Object, are you familiar with the View Object bind variables/bind parameters? This will allow you to define a named variable in your VO that you can set programmatically or even let the user set. Play around with those first and see if they solve one part of your problem, then come back to the forum for the second part.

    CM.

  • Increased Object Type support within Data Modeler

    Hi,
    This is a question mainly for the Data Modeler Development Team as well as the Tools group. First of all, the production version of Data Modeler 3.0 is very nice and the improvements in the DataTypes area over what was in EA1 are great. Thanks for adding the Domain support to the definition of Attributes and Parameters for Methods, that makes life much simpler and opens the door for a much wider range of object type modeling and ease of implementations since consistency can now be maintained much easier via Domains. Also the support for straightening of lines is awesome. This is the best implementation I have seen, even better that what we had in the Design Editor in Oracle Designer, kudos again to the team that built the diagrammer interfaces.
    My question is, Going forward will Data Modeler continued to be enhanced to finally fully support Oracle Objects and the object relational (OR) model? I ask this because as users of Oracle's RDBMS, we do not have a tool that allows us to fully model and implement the features provided by the Server Group in the area of Object-Relational features and functionality. Oracle Designer had some OR modeling capability, but the end of life on product stopped all further development. One of the common excuses is there is no market demand for object - relational modeling. I would argue, that the lack of market demand for object - relational applications is because we have never have had a tool that fully supports Oracle's object - relational model. Nor do have we had a development tool that allows us to implement a fully developed Oracle Object - Relational model. The tools group stopped the development of Oracle Forms support for nested objects and collections. The LOV functionality for REF columns is pretty awesome, but we can't get to nested collections much less a nested collection of REFs.
    So as a member of the end user community, we are stuck in this Catch 22. The Server Group continues to support and enhance the Object - Relational model, but the Tools and Modeling Groups haven't kept up with the tools to model or implement the functionality and features supported by the database. As a result we have a partially built set of tools that allows us to scratch the surface of the Object - Relational model but are not able to take full advantage of the powerful features of inheritance, inherited and extended collections, the ability to inherit and then extend methods, etc...
    The Object - Relational model was introduced with Oracle8, 10g solved the type evolution problem which made production implementation of object types realistic. My question is; Is Data Modeler finally going to fully support Oracle's object - relational model? If we as the end user community finally get a tool that does fully support the OR model, we'll finally be able to model, build and deploy applications that will in turn create that market demand which is lacking for the object relational model.
    Thanks in advance,
    ScottK

    Phil,
    Yes, having the ability to include an attribute from an data type as part of the PK, UK and or index will be very, very nice. Doing that opens a number of doors on the design, modeling and implementation sides. It would allow us to model and then create a data type which has all the common attributes for housekeeping information within each entity -> table. This is something we tried to do with Designer but was pretty involved script wise. By being able to create specialized housekeeping datatypes and then using the 'add attribute' with the scripts provided with DM 3.0, it simplifies the model after the fact. Think about it, we'll be able to have a datatype with all the attributes for created on/by and modified on/by along will all the methods to populate those attributes (formerly columns), then we can include that datatype into the entity as an attribute called say, 'row_audit' with the datatype of 'common_'. Now in one pass we have the place to hold the information of who created and modified the row as well as the date and time along with all the code required to populate and maintain that information. Everything modeled, defined and written in one place. No more have to include or write the pl/sql across several different modules, rather the calls to the method, a constructor, are within the insert or update statements for that table. If we take that train of thought and extend it to include the housekeeping functions for relational primary keys, then we can create one datatype with the attribute and methods to create a single column primary key. Once that is pulled into an entity, defined as the part of the unique identifier and then pushed down as a primary key and resulting foreign keys. We have all the code to enforce and populate primary and foreign keys wrapped up in one datatype with its supporting method as a constructor. Think of the other possibilities that would be available once we can include nested attributes w/i keys and indexes. It makes some models and designs much simpler, more maintainable, more scalable (less code to execute), etc...
    I have been thinking about this. I see ya'll have provided the options for IN, OUT, IN/OUT, COPY and NOCOPY as modifiers for the parameters on methods. We also have the option for COPY / NOCOPY in the constructor method for type. Will that be included?
    Lastly, since the Server Group solved the type evolution problem, that coupled with the ability to include a datatype as a definition for column really opens the design doors. For example, by using a datatype of 'common_', as mentioned above, if the system requirement appears after the system is built for a the name of the source system to be included with the 'row_audit' information, we can modify the datatype 'common_' to include these new attributes and methods and then the ALTER TYPE syntax provided by the Server and Language groups to effectively extend all the tables to include this new system requirement. Till the Server group solved the type evolution problem, this wasn't possible and we had to write several 'alter table add column' scripts. This is all replaced with the ALTER TYPE... cascade data command now. Once DM 3.0 includes the ability to reference embedded attributes, design and modeling life will be great.
    Thanks in advance,
    ScottK

  • Using Multiple Object Types in a FIM Managed Criteria Distribution Group

    Is it possible to use multiple object types in a criteria based distribution group. So when building your criteria filter, "Select (object type) that match (all/any) of the following condiftions". Currently you can only choose 1 object type and
    I want to be able to choose object type "user" and a custom object type I create for my contacts

    You can create main condition as "any" and later add two sub-conditions - one that object in set "All People" and other sub-condition that object in set "All Contacts" or "All Groups".
