Obtain server name in portal service

Hi all,
I've a portal service which must know the server name (https://xxx.yyy.com). In an AbstractPortalComponent I have no problem to get the name through the IPortalComponentRequest. But how to obtain it in a portal service which doesn't have such an object?
best regards,
Markus

thanks, serlank, but that doesn't work in my environment (Tomcat 5.5.12).
The method event.getServletContext().getServletContextName() returns the Name of the web application which i can configure as <display-name> in web.xml. As i have the same web.xml for all my contexts, i can't set different names.

    Hi Shaeer,
Make sure that you dont have same port numbers on both servers.
If it then try to avoid them.
Secondly also check nodemanager log server log to verify why it went to shutdown mode.

  • A very simple question: how to obtain the mail server name?

In our JSP application, at one point an email will be sent to notify one event. Currently, that is done by using the html tag: mailto. To have more control on the email in tems of context format (a bad layout right now) and others. I would like to have it processed at servlet by using the JavaMail API, so that it have a nice format and have the sender's email address right in case email client is not installed in the machine where the browser in. The JavaMail API is straight forward. The question is how to obtain the mail server name, and the sender's email address if there is one?
    Thanks.
    v.

How to obtain the mail server's name? It's your server, you should know its name. Or if it isn't your server, you should ask the administrator for its name. Point is, you need to decide in advance what server you are going to use and hard-code its name into the program or into a properties file.
And how to obtain the client's e-mail address? You have to ask the client, probably by putting a box in the HTML and asking them to type it.

  • Data Services communication with SAP - physical/logical server name

Iu2019m having trouble connecting Data Services to SAP.
    Environment details:
Data Services version 12.2.1.2 on Windows 2008 SP2
ERP and SRM on Windows 2008 (database SQL Server 2008 SP1)
Repository on SQL Server 2008 SP1
All servers (SAP and Data Servers) have had logical systems defined over the physical system names and they use these logical names to communicate with each other.  The Data Services server, hence has two names (logical and physical) and two corresponding IP addresses.
The problem weu2019re having is that when the SAP server communicates back to the Job Server it needs to use the logical server name and corresponding IP address.  Currently it is using the physical server name and IP address, causing communication failures.
When I run the host_name() function within Data Services it returns the physical host name.
Is there a way to determine how Data Services identifies itself and whether this can be manipulated?  Is it possible to configure Data Services to run in a logical environment?
Any thoughts or commends would be appreciated. Thanks

Looked at this from another angle.  We were using Direct Download transport method which processes in the foreground and uses the SAPGUI for communication.  It seems as though it was how SAPGUI communicates with the SAP server on Data Services behalf that was causing the problem.
We managed to motivate to get a share setup between the SAP server and the Data Services box which allows us to use Shared Directory transport method.  This also allows for background processing - eliminating the part of the SAPGUI communication that was causing the problem.

  • Server Names exposed while accessing SAP Portal

We are using FireFox browser to access the SAP Portal application. We are running SAP EnterPrise Portal on NW 7.01. Our Production SAP portal is exposed to
    internet.
After the users log into the system, using Firefox browser, the server name is seen in the status bar of the
browser. This is a security threat, as the server names are exposed.
This issue is not there if we access the sameusing Internet explorer.

    Abdul,
    See this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/b6/8b9aea8d7c11d5bdd8006094191908/frameset.htm
The suspect is "User Mapping Type". It is probably set to "admin", instead of "admin, user". That is why you do not see the system when logged in as one of the users.
Also make sure users have permissions in PCD to the system.
If does not help, check other suspect as SAP help suggests:
The selected principal does not have end-user permissions for the system.
The system's logon method does not require any user mapping data for the system (such as "SAPLogonTicket" for a system that is not the SAP reference system).
The system's user mapping type is not set correctly or not set at all.
There is no system alias defined for the system.
There is no system landscape registered, for example, the one contained in Enterprise Portal.

  • Fully qualified name of the portal service application

    Hi,
I want to Access portal Services from Web dynpro, for Which we have to provide Sharing reference,
    this would be
PORTAL:<Vendor name>/<Fully qualified name of the portal service application>
my question is how to find out "Fully qualified name of the portal service application"
    regards,
    Venki.

    Venki,
    Please refer this thread.
Re: Changes are not getting reflected in theme
We cannot access the portal service in the browser as the service wont produce any http request. Instead you can access & utilize  the service in the the portal component such as JSP Dunpage etc.  which will produce the http request and display the result or o/p  on the broswer.

  • Resolving a Server Name from a TNS Service Name

A computer client has an Oracle ODBC connection that is attached to a TNS Service Name "X". The TNS Service Name is running in Server "Y".
Does anybody know a quick way to resolve the Server Name "Y" from the TNS Service Name "X" ???
Our current solution is based on opening the file tnsnames.ora, which is normally located in $ORAHOME\network\ADMIN\TNSNAMES.ORA, and by parsing the file resolve the server name. However, we were wondering if there would be a more reliable way to do this. Is there an Oracle API that we can execute? Something like "GetHostName(TNSServiceName)"?
    Many Thanks

    Not that I'm aware of.
If you were using an Oracle Names server to resolve tnsnames, rather than a tnsnames.ora file, this would be a lot easier. You'd just update the Oracle Names server and all the clients would start pointing at the right machine.

  • Customizing server.name and server.port in services-config.xml

    Hi
How can i find out what does BlazeDs use for server.name and server.port in
    url="http://{server.name}:{server.port}/{context.root}/messagebroker/amf"
    can i customize those values?
    thank you

    Mete
    Thank you for your reply
So context.root is resolved at compile time and server & port at runtime
Do you have an example or a link that shows / explain how to create custom tokens replaced by JVM options?
I have an issue where if i install my app on http://www.mydomain.com/mycontext/, it loads but will display the following message when making server call using Safari
    FAULT: faultCode:Client.Error.MessageSend faultString:Send failed faultDetail:Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed: url: http://www.mydomain.com/context/messagebroker/amf
Notte that it works on IE7 when accessing http://www.mydomain.com/mycontext/
and that it works great with all browsers on http://localhost:8080/mycontextroot
Would you know what is the best way to debug this issue?
    Thank you
