OC4J and HTTP?

Hi,
I am curious if someone might be able to shed some
light for me on this problem? I need to first run a
servlet on OC4J and then I want to pass some
data from that to an HTTP mod pl/sql instance
and I want both to run HTTPS. How would I go about
configuring what I want to do? Run OC4J on port 80
and then pass it over to Apache?
TIA

I opened an enhancement request at metalink for this issue

  • OC4J and FOP installation

    Hi,
We would like to use the PDF printing of 3.0.1
I am trying to install FOP but I do not have any knowledge in OC4J and Java ... so I am kind a lost right now.
I am following the installation guide of OC4J standalone (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28950/install.htm#BABIBGCA)
    I was wondering :
1- do I need to install oc4j standalone in a separate Oracle Home ?
2- There is already an OC4J installed in my db Oracle Home , I guess for emdbconsole. So , I created a new directory called oc4j_sa and unzipped the file. When I start OC4J with oc4j -start , it does not give me the prompt back. Then , I can access the web page with port 8888 (192.168.0.21:8888) , but 192.168.0.21:8888/em fails . So I cannot deploy the FOP war file.
Any pointers or guidance would be great.
    Thanks
    Francis.
    P.S. :
    Oracle 10.1.0.5
    Oracle Linux (RH 4)

OK, I finally got to the deployment of FOP but now it generates a corrupted PDF.
Are there any log files that I can check ?
I created a new Oracle_home for OC4J and ran "EM" to deploy FOP and everything worked like in the viewlet.
Now I did the setup in APEX and set the following :
    Standard Support
    Print Server Protocol HTTP
    Print Server Host Address 192.168.0.21
    Print Server Port 8888
    Print Server Script /fop/apex_fop.jsp
I created a sample application to test. In a report , I added the print link.
When I clic Print, the pdf generated is corrupted and does not work.
    Thanks
    Francis.

  • Report display is different in report builder, local oc4j and app server

    Hi guys,
we upgrade reports from sql report writer into report 10g. In the report 10g builder,
the report format looks fine. but if i use the url as below
    http://applicationserver/reports/rwservlet?report=test.rdf&userid=username/password@service&desformat=pdf&destype=cache
so the format will be mess up whatever i use this url in my local oc4j or i deployed it into 10g application server. and the format is different in oc4j and application server. Why this issue happend?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
They are a Fix Pack higher than you which may explain why it's broken on their server.
Download the Fix Pack for R2 and see if you can duplicate the issue.

    sender,
the quantize menu is in the top info box in the arrange.
if you double click on it, an extended parameter box appears with a lot of quantizing options. also RTFM about this bit.
in the sample editor, there is an audio quantize feature.
but it is old, and probably hasn't been updated in ten years........try it, you
    'll prolly hate it.
there is also a quantize audio/groove plug, in the special menu.
    it works....sorta.
if you're talkin' drums, on seperate tracks, like kik on one, and snr on the next, etc., try strip silence to cut the loop/file up, then select same in the arrange trk and quantize this, as above. (info box).
this does work well provided you know just where you want the feel to be.
you could also try making a groove template of the original clip/loop and use this as a timing reference.
this also works well if you can get a clean footprint of the audio.
    best,

  • Switching between https and http requests

    Hi,
Our application is built using ADF 10.1.3
This application need to be integrated with an in house built single sign on system. ( SSO system is built in C# and .NET)
This single sign on system only understand https request. Once user is validated against single sign on system, our application's authorization page is called in HTTPS mode. Once the user is authorized, he is forwarded to home page. While forwarding to home page, we want to convert the HTTPS request to HTTP.
Currently once the user is authenticated, all requests are happening in HTTPS mode.
We do not know how to make http request from existing https requested page.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
the way to do this is by redirecting the call from a PhaseListener or command button. The solution Avrom refers to is a PhaseListener that uses XML configuration file to determine whether or not the page you are navigating to requires https or http. The code that handles the protocol switch is printed below
      * Determines if the requested page requires SSL and if the current protocol
      * meets this need. If not the protocol is switched between http and https
      * @param viewId

  • How Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server linked to each other

    Hi ,
Please let me know what is the relation between a Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server ?
In my application The Oracle Application Server is installed in C drive and there is a Stand alone oC4j .
Please tell me how they are linked to each other .
    Thank you .

It depends on your need and what features and functionality of Oracle Application Server you are interested in. Note that OC4J is a component of Oracle Application Server that can run as a standalone component or within Oracle Application Server. Question #6 in earlier mentioned FAQ document states:
OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible (1.4 and 1.5 too in later releases of OC4J) and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
So if you are happy with what you see in standalone OC4J and scalability isn't an issue for you, you can stay with standalone OC4J and don't need to move to Oracle Application Server.
PS: If you do decide to use OC4J that's embedded with Oracle Application Server, you can't move your standalone OC4J inside Oracle Application Server. You will have to reconfigure embedded OC4J again (as you might have done with standalone OC4J) and redeploy your applications.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • OC4J and login failure

'Install' the embedded OC4J in JDev9i (<Jdev9i_HOME>\j2ee\home) and assign an administrative password of admin.
Deployment from JDev9i works with no issue - URL uses port 8888.
Problem is when shutdown machine and come back in I have to go back and reinstall the embedded OC4J. It seems to lose
the fact that it was installed and had a password of admin.
What gives - Thanks - Ken Cooper

First of all i had the exact same problem for few weeks ago.
    I was advised to download the Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE Standalone ( http://technet.oracle.com/software/products/ias/devuse.html )
then make own oc4j directory and install this version. This will work!
Note that if you work with bc4j you need to adjust your configuration
    according to this doc:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/bc4j9ioc4j.html
    and do the configuration manually.
You will never have to reinstall oc4j and if for any reason the oc4j does not work properly, you can simply delete the oc4j directory and setup a clean one.
    succes!

  • OC4J and JDK version compatibility

Does anyone know if OC4J 1.0.2.2.1 is certified to work with JDK1.3.1?
    The reason being :
    1. We have a situation where the CPU gets full frequently because of OC4J.
    2. When OC4J is recycled the app works fine. App uses JSP, servlets and JDBC connection to Oracle 8.1.7
    3. Is there any way to find if OC4J 1.0.2.2.1 is not supposed to be used with JDK1.3.1?
Finally, is there any URL that provides this information so that I can check the same with later versions of OC4J and JDK?
    Thanks,

OC4J 1.0.2.2.1 is not certified with 1.3.1.x. Certification information should be available in http://metalink.oracle.com. You should have a CSI to get into Metalink.

Looks like the libraries or at least the Driver class used by FOP is not accessible.
What's in fop.war -- it is fully self contained where the dependent libraries are in web-inf/lib or is it expecting them to be provided outside of the application?
Where'd you get fop.war from, I can take a look and see.

  • OC4J and Oracle9i and user defined datatypes over SOAP.

Does OC4J and Oracle9i, that comes with JDeveloper9i-rc, support user defined datatypes over SOAP?
If I invoke the EJB over RMI it is working fine.
But if I try to invoke it over SOAP I get this fault:

AFAIK this is not possible with the Oracle 8i implementation. This is my main gripe about Oracle's so called objects - you can't define your own constructors, you can't put check constraints on them and you can't use them in triggers.
In other words you can put any old scheisse in an object and you can't populate them with derived or default values.
I'm on a 9i New Features course as I type and I'm hoping to hear that Oracle have added some features to objects that will make them worth using.

As we are trying to get R12 up and running under linux we are facing some problems. The installation failed at the startup page
As far as I know you should set up linux to start up the Oracle services manually which I managed for the Database and HTTP server.

Can anybody tell me how I should do this ?

  • OC4J and Apache Virtual Hosts

    Server Setup
OS Version: Windows Server 2003 64bit
    Server Version: Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.3.1.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server
    API Version: 19990320:18
    Run Mode: standalone
I have setup two seperate Apache VirtualHosts address1.mycompany.com and address2.mycompany.com I have also setup 2 seperate OC4J application groups appgroup1 and appgroup2. I need to tie appgroup1 to the virtualhost address1.mycompany.com and appgroup2 to address2.mycompany.com. There will be two seperate applications running on each app group and they both need to run at the root level of the address .... instead of running like so address1.mycompany.com/application1 ....
Is this possible to do with this version of Oracle Application Server. I have seen that in the Weblogic version there are ways in which to do this, but due to a deadline and my limited knowledge of Weblogic at this point I am unable to go that direction ... Any help with this would be greatly appreciated and well recieved.

    Hi,
    I have a similar problem, I'm running apache 2.2 on windows and oc4j 10.1.3.4.0.
I'd like to map http://app1.example.com/home.html in apache to http://10.1.1.3:8888/app1/home.html and http://app2.example.com/home.html to http://10.1.1.3:8888/app2/home.html
I have the ProxyPass settings in my httpd.conf file
    ProxyPass / http://10.1.1.3:8888/app1
    ProxyPassReverse / http://10.1.1.3:8888/app1
This works fine for the first URL and the browser shows the correct page at http://app1.example.com/home.html however as soon as I click a link in the page the browser tries to go to http://app1.example.com/app1/page2.html
And since I have my ProxyPass mapping in apache, I think its trying to get to the following page in oc4j http://10.1.1.3:8888/app1/app1/page2.html which doesn't exist.
Is there any way to map a subdomain/virtual host to an oc4j context but hide from the browser the oc4j context in each of the URLs.
To make matters more tiricky (or maybe not), I'm using Struts 1.3.10 as my application framework, so I don't normally construct the <a> links myself but have Struts do that for me with <html:link> tags.
Thanks in advance for any pointers,
    Andy.

I have managed to deploy and run the Spring portlet using Sun App Server and Sun Portlet container with no problems which leads me to believe my Spring setup is correct.
I also have managed to run the Spring pets portlet example on Sun App Server and Sun Portlet container with no problems. But again it fails on Oracle with the same problem.
To deploy on Oracle I ran the oracle wsrp jar against my EAR. As far as I can tell it has not corrupted any of the Spring setup in the web.xml.
    The version are as follows
Oracle Portal 10.1.4 running on OAS 10.1.2
calling the portlet using WSRP v1.
The portlet is running on standalone OC4J 10.1.3.3 with Oracle portlet container 10.1.3.2. On Windows Spring 2.0.6.
    Any ideas? Thanks Paul

Was an answer ever found? I am currently experiencing the same issue.

  • Error Message when installing Companion CD for HTMLDB 1.6 and HTTP Server

Hi. First time forum user so bear with me.
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this but the assistance of anyone who may be able to shed some light on the problem whould be greatly appreciated. I am having a problem when attempting to install the Companion CD for HTMLDB 1.6 and HTTP Server, details given below:
The following Oracle components have been successfully installed
         Oracle 10gR2 Database.
         Oracle 10gR2 Database patch 10.2.03.
         Critical patch up date (security).
The following Oracle component failed to install.
Companion CD for HTMLDB 1.6 and HTTP server
    Scenario leading up to failure
Extracted companion CD installation files to D:\oracle\utilities\Oracle_10_2_0_Companion
         Executed D:\oracle\utilities\Oracle_10_2_0_Companion\companion\setup.exe.
The following error message is displayed in a "JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE LAUNCHER" dialog box
"Could not find the main event class. Program will exit."
I have been attmepting to resolve this problem for over a week and have already checked the following with no resolution to the problem:
Cause. This issue may have to do with two issues (and may occur more on Windows):-
    1. Within the ORACLE_HOME directory full pathname there is a space.
    2. The directory from where the software / patch is being installed has a space within the directory full
pathname (where the file for the installation by default is named products.jar or products.xml).
Solution. To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:-
    1. Rename the full pathname directory NOT to contain a space.
    2. Launch again the OUI... and verify if the problem occurs.
Any further guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Can you install using OUI from the RDBMS installation? IIRC, there is a problem using OUI on companion to install companion items.
