OC4J config file like tomcat-users.xml

Hi,
We are attempting to migrate a customer from tomcat to OC4J. For the demo, the customer has asked to use the listing of roles and users in the tomcat-users.xml file it has. Despite our pleas about security, they want this.
Is there any file in OC4J that corresponds to this file in tomcat???
We are configuring web.xml <login-config>, and assume that there is a similar type of redirect to a user's list in OC4J as is found in tomcat with tomcat-users.xml.
Any help?
Thanks,
Scott Rappoport, OCP

I found the file. Does one have to go through JAZNUserManager to alter the file, or is there a way to add users straight into the jazn-data.xml file? I tried to alter the file and add the roles and users from the tomcat file, but I still get a 403 error --
Error initializing security, security-role not found: auth-user-2.
I also altered the principal.xml file, but to no avail.
I am using the OC4J stand-alone version; I note in the J2EE User's Guide (chap 8, security) that there is a User Manager page available from the OC4J home page. Is this available in stand-alone? I have opened the http server port 7778, but found no mod_oc4j in the list; Going to the OC4J port 8888 gives me the samples one would find in tomcat.
One wonders if we need the core 9iAS with EM? Is there any way to stay with the lightweight stand-alone version for now to config this?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
scott

  • Change the kernel26 config file for ati users?

    Hi,
To get the  propriatary ati drivers working you need to change some parts of the kernel from build in to module. What about changing this in the standard kernel26 so that this will make it easyer to install ati drivers (and update the kernel) for a lot of users. I think it isn't hard to change because the config file is kernel26 package.
I don't know much about kernels and stuff so I don't know if it will be negative for some users? Else of course it shouldn't be changed because only a small percentage of arch users use propiatary ati drivers.
Please give me your opinion about this
    David
    edit: typo

I don't think that Xentac wrote that, in this thread qwerty wrote it, or is this the same person?
In that thread is also the reason why they need to be modules, the propriatary ati drivers interact with the AGP modules from the kernel. For some reason this doesn't work when they are compiled in the kernel. Shall I send qwerty a message if he can explain better why modules are needed?
Also I'm trying(never made a PKGBUILD...) to merge the two PKGBUILDS from that howto in one so that in the future to install ati drivers one can just type pacman -S ati-drivers, add the module to rc.conf and change xorg.conf to get it working, that should be really cool I think
edit: I just found out this isn't needed since I found ati packages in link's reposatority! The only strange thing is that they depend on an older kernel

  • I need detailed explanation of the OC4J config/*.xml files.

Anybody know where I can find good descriptions of the OC4J config files?? I've found some stuff on www.orionserver.com but they aren't good enough. Specifically, I have someone who wants a <lib> entry made for his app into the server.xml file. I want to know exactly what that tag means, how it is interpreted, etc... I want to have a complete understanding of all of the tags in all these files so I can deal with all the different methods of deploying applications...

Thanks, but I've seen those and they really don't help much. I've got a situation where many developers are deploying many different apps in different ways. One guy wants to add a <library> entry into server.xml for one of his application-specific jar files. I really think this is a bad idea but I can't say anything without documentation stating what the purpose of this tag in server.xml file is, and what the ramifications are if we mess with it. How might that affect the performance of OC4J, or how might it mess up other apps under OC4J?

  • How to save pictures with the config file "Write Key.vi"

    hi all,
On my front panel I've few controls pictures containing photos (JPG type) . The user can select the photo he wants using the classic file dialog box.
Usally I use the config files VI's to save the control values from one run to another one. In the config files VIs, I use the polymorphic "write Key.vi" wich accept only booean, I32, U32, path, and string dada type, but no picture !
I've tried the "flatten to string" fonction (picture --> flatten to string --> writekey.vi) , no broken wire but the conversion is very very too long and to heavy (20Mo a key!).
another way, would be to write in a xml file, I've also tried but I've always get the 1104 error: No end tag was found for an XML start/end tag pair.
    can someone help me.
what is the best way for  retrieving controls pictures with photos

    Hi GerdW
Many thanks for your quick answer. Always happy to get advises from fellow programmers.
You suggest to use the "path" input of the "write key.vi" (configuration file utilities) to retrieve photos that a user would have selected in a previous run. Could be a good solution in a number of applications but what I would like to do is like in a excel or word file. Once a photo has been embeded in one xls file for ex., I find it back each time i open this xls file, even if the original photo's file has been deleted or if my application runs on another computer.
xml file looks interesting for that purpose (i mean used as config file). I can easily store in a xml file a labview picture (like a colored rectangle e.g.) but when i try with a photo (wich is a also a picture) labview returns always the error 1104.
How to fixe this error, or maybe  there is another way to store photos in a config file without passing through xml,
    kind regards.

  • Unable to check config files through EM in 10.1.3.3.0

    Hi All,
I have OAS (10.1.3.3.0) webserver and appserver in installed on different machines.
as we all know earlier release ie 10g(10.1.2) we can check all he config files like httpd.conf, ssl.conf etc through EM, but can we check config files in this relase ie.(10.1.3.3.0) through EM.
    Regards
    Kumar

    Kumar,
Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) in 10.1.3.x can not be managed using AS Control (EM), like you could do it in 10.1.2.x. Not just viewing OHS's config files you can't also start/stop it, make config changes (server properties, performance directives, log configuration etc.), view performance metrics and log entries etc. This is mainly due to AS Control in 10.1.3.x is changed to be JMX based and OHS doesn't have any MBeans in 10.1.3.x. So OHS can't be managed and monitored (except seeing its up/down state) via AS Control in 10.1.3.x.
FYI, OHS in next major release of Oracle Fusion Middleware (i.e. 11gR1) can be fully managed and monitored in AS Control but for now you will have to do it manually.
    Thanks

  • Maximum size video upload settings in web config file

Hi, i am providing video support in my application, whereas i need to provide support to upload video without any size limit, say for example atleast 1GB video should be uploaded and played via html5 and iframe tag. I have made some changes in web config

  • Does anyone have a good server.xml file for tomcat?

I am trying to link apache and tomcat on a RedHat 9 computer. I previously posted a message stating that I could not get tomcat to "automagically" make the configuration files (mod_jk.conf-auto) that all the manuals promised it would. However, I found that my problem was the lack of an ApacheConfig tag in the server.xml file. After looking at my server.xml file, I found that it was much more simplistic than I would hoped = it did not have enough comments or commented out options. It had none of the directives that the manuals said it included by default.
In short, does anyone who has apache and tomcat linked have a server.xml file that I can look at so that I can figure out what I must add to mine to get tomcat working with apache? I would greatly appreciate it if you could copy and paste the whole thing here.
Thank you very much in advance.

<!-- PersistentManager: Uncomment the section below to test Persistent
              Sessions.
saveOnRestart: If true, all active sessions will be saved
to the Store when Catalina is shutdown, regardless of
other settings. All Sessions found in the Store will be
loaded on startup. Sessions past their expiration are
    ignored in both cases.
maxActiveSessions: If 0 or greater, having too many active
sessions will result in some being swapped out. minIdleSwap
limits this. -1 means unlimited sessions are allowed.
0 means sessions will almost always be swapped out after
use - this will be noticeably slow for your users.
minIdleSwap: Sessions must be idle for at least this long
(in seconds) before they will be swapped out due to
maxActiveSessions. This avoids thrashing when the site is
highly active. -1 or 0 means there is no minimum - sessions
can be swapped out at any time.
maxIdleSwap: Sessions will be swapped out if idle for this
long (in seconds). If minIdleSwap is higher, then it will
override this. This isn't exact: it is checked periodically.
-1 means sessions won't be swapped out for this reason,
although they may be swapped out for maxActiveSessions.
If set to >= 0, guarantees that all sessions found in the
Store will be loaded on startup.
maxIdleBackup: Sessions will be backed up (saved to the Store,
but left in active memory) if idle for this long (in seconds),
and all sessions found in the Store will be loaded on startup.
If set to -1 sessions will not be backed up, 0 means they
should be backed up shortly after being used.
To clear sessions from the Store, set maxActiveSessions, maxIdleSwap,
and minIdleBackup all to -1, saveOnRestart to false, then restart
    Catalina.
