OC4J not start on Ubuntu

Hello, sorry about my english I am still learning!
I have Ubuntu 7.04 and Java 1.5.0 (1.5.0_11-b03) already installed on a PC (i386) when I try to run the embedded server OC4J get this error message:
Error initializing server: OC4J administrator account is not configured correctly. Please make sure that at least one administration account is created and configured correctly. 07/05/16 15:47:11 Fatal error: server exiting
I found information to install and configure OC4J http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe10gdb/install/jdevinst10g9051/jdevinst10g9051.htm#install
but when I run the console command java -jar oc4j.jar -install I get this error message:
This option has been deprecated. Please start the OC4J server to set the administrator's password. If the OC4J administrator account has already been activated, use the Application Server Control Console or the Admintool to change the password for this account.
Any ideas about to how to install OC4J? Thanks for your reply.

Hello, it is possible that you must re-install “Feisty”, because that was the solution by which I chose in the end. But in any case it tries to eliminate all the “VM” of java except which you are going to use, if these using version 6 remove the package “sun-java6-javadb” because it seems that this it does not work well with “JDeveloper”.
I have single the version at the moment “1.5.0_11” of Java and works well.
After decompressing the JDeveloper it sees the folder where you installed for example:
/home/usuario/jdeveloper/ and soon it looks for the folder of oc4j j2ee/home and executes the server OC4J with the following command:
java - jar oc4j.jar
When executing the command will request the password to you of administrator for the oc4j you introduce it and soon you confirm it and ready, it would have to work.
An important note is that you must eliminate the file “.jdev_jdk” that is created automatically in the folder of your user.
I hope that this helps you.

  • Embedded OC4J not starting, not accessible

    Hello Oracle folks,
I have JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 (1618) and had a Struts project. Trying to lauch it in the embedded OC4J does not work anymore (for my colleagues it works). I tried any combination of re-installs and re-imports of the project from CVS. I also blew away the JDeveloper files in ${user.home}(so I had to start from zero, I opened the *.JWS file out of our cvs repository). Still the embedded OC4J won't start !!
Can anybody explain this (maybe below error stack is an indication, and it only occurs in one of my workspaces)

    #### Embedded OC4J Server could not be started up.

    Hi,
Try to invoke the OC4j services from run using the following:
START OC4J FROM CMD LINE -> C:ORACLEBI\OC4J_BI\BIN\OC4J.CMD –START
    TO STOP: C:\ORACLEBI\OC4J_BI\BIN\OC4J.CMD –STOP
    1. Run the Stop initially and then run the Start Command. (If still unable to start and throwing any error make a note of it)

The normal procedure for the Developer Suite is:
    1. Start OC4J instance via Windows Start menu.
    2. Run a report:
    http://127.0.0.1:8889/reports/rwservlet?module=....
    That doesn't work?
Can you see the in-process report server?

  • Oracle 10g XE installation problem on Ubuntu Linux, Oracle will not start

    Hi,
After installing the pakages the error is when I call sqlplus and login as SYS :-

    What I have done:-
My system is 64 bit AMD.
I installed .deb package on Ubuntu 9.04 server. I installed the following packages.
    1.     ibc6-i386
    2.     libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb
    3.     bc
    4.     oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb.
The Oracle processes do not start after running /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start.
I can tnsping from the local machine.
dpkg -l |grep libaio gives the following:

I have been running XE on 9.04 (32bit on my laptop - 64bit on my workstation) and both works fine. I had no problem installing. I followed the directions in documents I found on Ubuntu forums and also google. The document I used to install on 64bit was from http://littlebrain.org
    I remember using
    dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio1_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
    dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio-dev_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb

    dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb
and then I used the ./oracle-xe configure as root, the installation was ok - and I have even updated the APEX version to 3.2.1 on the XE installation running on my 64bit Ubuntu 9.04
    hope this proves useful

  • Firefox will not start after I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 10.04.

I was using Firefox without issue on Ubuntu 8.04. I then upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04. Firefox would not start after upgrade. Message said it was already running!
I checked the System Monitor and saw it was "sleeping". I ended process. Firefox then would start, however..... I always have to go into System Monitor before I start Firefox to stop it from running (sleeping) even if I already just quit the program or after a fresh reboot.
I do not use a firewall or virus program.
My router has some sort of firewall hardware, and it is the same router I used with 8.04 with no problem.
What is going on? Why is the program sleeping when I try to start it. Why do I always get the message that it is already running (and I have to shut it down) before I can start it.
It is either a Ubuntu problem or a Firefox problem.
    Sonny.

  • OC4J when started as Win Service does not map URL for analytics website

    Hi All,
When OC4J is started as a console and user enters the URL http://server-1/analytics it is automatically mapped to URL http://bof-iclu-1/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard and we get the dashboard login page displayed.
Now I have created a Windows Service to Automatically start the OC4J serivce.
When OC4J is started as a service and user enters the URL http://server-1/analytics it does not map to the Dashboard URL and we get the website cannot display the page. However entering the complete URL http://server-1/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard the login page is displayed.
I believe the issue is cause by the OC4J being started as a service and not as a console start.
Any idea what the issue could be?
Do I need to change any of the configuration xml files?
Where do the configuration setting for website mapping and welcome files is mentioned in the Oc4j?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards
    B

This is not going to help but you shouldn't be using OC4J for anything other than development.

Though I made the modification and re-start the OC4J instance, I could see the same error and behavior.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue please?
    Regards,
    Kumar

This is bit strange. It should work. I tested and works fine for me.
Can you remove the entry from opmn.xml and make sure no typo in server.xml and try again. You might want to reload OPMN (opmnctl reload) and then try restarting OC4J (opmnctl startproc ias-component=OC4J).
Note that value (-DcheckForUpdates) set in opmn.xml overrides the value set in server.xml:

  • Starting OC4J not stand alone

Can I start the OC4J not only from the command line but also when the Apache starts?
I think when I close the command line window (WINDOWS) the OC4J stops running. Is it true?
    Thanks.

    Hi Manolis,
On my PC -- running Windows2000 -- I can use the "start" command to start
OC4J as a "background" process, i.e. it continues to run even after I
close the DOS prompt window I used to type in the "start" command.
Simply type "start" before your normal OC4J command, e.g.
    start java -jar oc4j.jar
My version of OC4J is 1.0.2.2.1
I think there was also a discussion on this forum about setting up OC4J
as a "service" on Windows. Perhaps you could try searching the forum
    archives for this discussion?
    Hope this has helped you.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Start oc4j not working

    Hi
I am using OBIEE 10.1.3.4 on my machine for the past 2 months and everything was fine till last week. When I start oc4j from Start - Programs - Oracle Business Intelligence - Start OC4J, console comes up and quickly vanishes i.e. its not being started. Due to this I can't use Presentation, publisher etc. I can't even open Systems management page to set oc4jadmin configurations.
Do I need to do/check some settings? Any pointers to solve this issue will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    AK

To be clear, what is the exact behaviour you've got? : -
can you access the presentation services login page?
do you get a 500 internal server error?
do you get a host not found type error?
You'll find your presentation services logs in <oraclebidata>/web/log/sawserver.out.log

  • T500 shuts down/or freezes when I plug in my AC adapter and now will not start up.

I have had my T500 for two years and I have had endless problems with this laptop. My latest issue started with the computer waking up from sleep mode with a black screen. The computer just froze there and I had to force it to shutdown. When I finally managed to get it started again, the computer gave me an alert saying that a display driver had stopped working. The computer ran fine for a while before it would issue the blue screen of death then have the same black screen issue again and shutdown. Then it got to the point where if I have my computer plugged in it would not even get to the BIOS screen, it would simply loop-restart over and over till I unplugged it, pulled out the battery, put the battery back and turned it on again. Then it would not start at all if I had my adapter plugged in and if I plugged it in at all while the computer was running, it would freeze and after a minute would shut down and again continuously try to start up. Now, the computer will not start in any way, plugged in or no. The lights all turn on like it normally does when it starts up, but then it shuts off and repeats the same process over and over again.
I have no idea what to do this time and unfortunately being a student I do not have enough money to buy an external harddrive to back up everything on this computer. Frankly with all the problems I have had with this thing, I am considering just throwing it out.

Try making a bootable Ubuntu disc and running that for a while. It's possible your Windows install is hosed.

  • BPEL Server can not start after jazn default realm has been modified

    Hi, everyone:
In order to customize my user task assigneeGroup, I set up a new realm in the jazn-data.xml using the shell (java -jar jazn.jar -shell). I tried to modify the jazn.xml file in %OraBPELPM%\integration\orabpel\system\appserver\oc4j\j2ee\home\config, and set the default-realm attribute to my new realm.
After these modification, the BPEL Server can not start, the server seems to stop after loading the first two EJB.
Does anyone ever encounter this problem? Could anyone help me?

It appears that I had the wrong oracle home and as a result some of the steps were skipped by the Universal Installer during installation, but installation was still claimed as successful. Even by launching the 'Mobile Server Repository Wizard' manually by running 'repwizard.bat' did not provide all the necessary window boxes to provide the details such as the SID, hostname, port number. I re-installed.
After starting the back-end database and then starting mobile server and testing in IE to see if the server was working by typing in http://<host name>:80/webtogo, I got the screen displaying mobile server.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • HP Pavilion dv4 will not start up

Hi! I am hoping someone can help me. My friend has an HP Pavilion dv4--2045dx  running Windows 7 and it will not start up. Once it is turned on the hp logo appears for a quick second and then a black screen with a blinking cursor in the left, top corner comes up. If I press ctrl alt del and then esc I can get into the menu for F1, F2, F11 etc. I have run and passed all of the system diagnostics tests (Start up, Memory and Hard Drive). I have tried to reset the BIOS to default condition and also tried to connect the laptop to my TV to see if it was the screen that doesn't work, but it wasn't. I tried a hard reset also. When I press F11 for a system recovery, nothing happens. It just goes right back to the black screen with blinking cursor. All of the other F-keys work and I am able to pull up screens for each, except the F11 key.
I am not very computer literate but am trying everything I can think of to get it back to factory settings or system recovery. If anybody out there has any idea what I'm talking about (I'm not sure I even do) please please give me some suggestions!!
I tried to write all of the information I can think of, but if you have any questions about the issue I'll be glad to answer what I can!

    Hi,
Try the following to see if the Hard Drive is accessible.  The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive )  When you've created the CD, follow the rest of the instructions and see if you can access the HDD - you may want to back up your existing files if you can.

  • RMI Service does not start

    Hello,
I am deadly new in this, so I hope this is an easy to answer question ...
I want to install an EJB application which runs on JBoss. Since JBoss don't need an application.xml file I wrote one and built an .ear file to deploy it into OC4J. Our application uses a fat client which connects to J2EE Container over RMI. Therefore I only installed the EJBs into OC4J. To change as less as possible on our client distribution I used the RMIInitialContextFactory to connect to the server. Problem is, that obviously the RMI server on port 23791 is not started. I got ConnectionExceptions because the connetion is refused. I activated debug logging in OC4J and there are following entries:
    05.11.03 12:17: Error binding to server: com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException: Unable to connect to localhost/127.0.0.1:23791: Connection refused: connect;
The logfile of the instance island in the opmn directory has the entry:
Auto-deploying vs_ejb.jar (orion-ejb-jar.xml had been updated since the previous deployment)... done.
    Error binding to server: com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException: Unable to connect to localhost/127.0.0.1:23791: Connection refused: connect;
I did change the rmi.xml file and entered a server tag with host="localhost", but it does not work.
    Anyone has an idea ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frank

    Frank,
In case you are unaware, there is a stand-alone version of OC4J (which I use) and there is Oracle 9iAS which includes OC4J as one of its components (and there is also an embedded OC4J in "JDeveloper"). Each one behaves slightly differently. Could it be that you were getting confused between the documentation for these products?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
