OC4J under JDeveloper

I'm trying to run OC4J under JDeveloper. I'm using JDeveloper v.10.1.3.1 and OC4J v.10.1.3 . There is a Wizard in JDeveloper that's used to define an App Server connection. The problem I'm having is on Step 3 of 4 of the Wizard. There are 3 entries here. They are:
1. Host Name (default value is 'localhost').
2. RMI Port (default value is 23791)
3. URL Path (NO DEFAULT VALUE).
I have no idea what the URL path should be or the RMI Port. How does one go about finding out what these entries are and defining an App server connection?
I can run the App server outside of JDeveloper but would prefer to have it inside if possible.
Thanks,
Bill

If you are using the embedded oc4j of JDeveloper, you do not use this Wizard. You just run your application, servlet, jsp and etc.
If you would like JDeveloper to connect to an oc4j standalone, by default, you do not have to enter anything into that URL Path. Just hit "finish" or "next" in that step of the Wizard once you enter that value for "Host Name" and "RMI Port".

  • Remote debugging in OC4J using JDeveloper

I need to remote debug into a stand-alone OC4J using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0. The documentation says the following:
In the <jdev_install>/jdev/lib directory, copy ojc.jar and jdev-remote.jar to <OC4J_HOME>/home/lib.
I can't find directory "<OC4J_HOME>/home/lib" in the stand-alone OC4J? That is, a "home" directory does not exist in the above location. To where should I copy ojc.jar and jdev-remote.jar ?

    Shay,
JDeveloper gives an error when deploying my EJB after starting an OC4J for debugging. In contrast, JDeveloper does successfully deploy my EJB if I start OC4J using "D:\jdev10131\jdev\bin\start_oc4j.bat".

  • How to create secure EJB web service in Oc4J using JDeveloper?

We are going to develop a EJB web service running in OC4J using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.
By using the JDeveloper feature, we can simply create the web service by using the "Web Service Endpoint Interface" in the session bean.
However, unlike the web service created from Java class, I can't find any option to change the security setting of this web service. We tried adding annotation like @DenyAll for testing, but there has no effect and related method can still be called without WS-Security header.
Now, we can only change the security setting via the web console after deployment (select the web service, then enable security in administration page, and then edit security configuration to change the inbound policies for authentication). It works in our local machine, but it may not work in the production environment as we cannot touch the em console.
May I know if there has any way to include the security setting inside the project?
    Thanks in advance.

If I am not wrong, you might be probably talking about this :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B40099_02/books/EAI2/EAI2_WebServices33.html#wp179056
In order to implement the SOAP header, you would have to :
    (1) Define SOAP header in the wsdl of the service.
    (2) Add a new soap binding in the wsdl, which contains soap header and soap body.
I think, this should get you going..

  • Deploying ADF Application to OC4J Using Jdeveloper

I tried to deploy an application to standalone OC4J using Jdeveloper, through a process similar to this:
    Deploying a Web Application
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/deployment/deployment.htm
[making WAR for view-controller, JAR for model, and EAR in a new project]
First I got some errors relating to Apache Log4J jars (org/apache/log4j/Category). The problems are talked over in this forum and oc4j forum. I had to download apache-log4j-1.2.15.zip and add the jar file manually to the project and remove the checks in the WAR file descriptor.
The application was deployed after some attempts successfully, but, now the first page that appears after launching the application is my Home.jspx which is not the same page which comes up when I use embedded OC4J to run the application. The Home.jspx is blank and when I enter a link manually:
    http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Employees.jspx
    instead of http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Home.jspx
    I receive this error:
    500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
Is there anything wrong with my deployment?
(I just mentioned my initial problem with deployment to know if that gives a clue.
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, OC4J 10.1.3.3)
    Thank you in advance.
    Farbod

    Hi,
hard to say from the error message. What if you create a EAR file that includes the WAR file and then deploy it through Enterprise Manager in OC4J ? Also, having a separate deployment project bears the risk fo missing dependencies. Ensure that the project has the project's dependency property set to all contributing projects

  • Mail Session configuration with embedded oc4j in jdeveloper 10g 10.1.3.1

    Hello all:
I'd tried to use javamail in a j2ee application. I´d defined an resource reference with the EJB Module Editor but when i run the application it throws:
java.lang.InstantiationException: Error initializing ejb-modules: No Mail Session configured for the resource MailSession
How can i configure a Mail Session with the embedded oc4j of jdeveloper 10g 10.1.3.1?

    Hi,
You need to add following configuration in $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/application.xml & restart your OC4J :-
    <mail-session location="EMailSession" smtp-host="mail.cdsc.com">       <property name="mail.transport.protocol" value="smtp"/>       <property name="mail.debug" value="true"/>    </mail-session>Regards,

  • How to import POI under JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0

How to import POI under JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0

First, you have to get an import license for your country to be able to import plant material; this is usually to prevent disease to any native species. I'm not sure if you can import prepared [url http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poi_(food)]poi directly, as I think it would probably ferment.
Or, perhaps you meant [url http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postorgasmic_illness_syndrome]Postorgasmic Illness Syndrome (I didn't make this up - Wikipedia gave it as a disambiguation for POI :) ), in which case, I cannot fathom how you could get that from JDeveloper - if you in fact do, then you are enjoying JDeveloper way too much.
If you weren't talking about those types of POI, but perhaps Apache POI (it would have helped if you gave some reasonable information), what you need to do is to get the JAR file(s) for Apache POI and create a library definition in JDeveloper (either Tools->Manage Libraries or double-click the project and create a project-based library definition) and add the JAR's to that library's classpath. Edit: if you create the library via tools->manage libraries, you also need to double-click the project and add a reference to that library to your project.

  • Connection to database under JDeveloper 10.0.1 is not working

Full version of Oracle 10g (including Oracle JDeveloper 9.0.4) is instaled in Oracle-home directory "c:\DevSuiteHome".
I have instaled Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.2 in other Non-Oracle directory "c:\JDev102", so I have both version of JDeveloper instaled.
The same connection to database is working correctly under JDeveloper 9.0.4, and not working under JDeveloper 10.0.1.
When I test connection under JDeveloper 10.0.1, next message is displayed:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified

    Hi,
This exception is thrown when different versions of the dependencies are being picked up and loaded by the process.
Are you deploying the application or a specific machine?
What type of application is being tested here? i.e console, ASP.NET, etc.
Make sure you are referencing the 11.2.0.1.1 assembly and that DLLPATH in the registry to pointing to the proper location for its dependencies.
Make sure there are no old versions of the ODP dependencies in the application/bin directory and that you are picking up the assembly from the GAC.

The main difference is the version of OC4J. They do not often match. If the extended OC4J is a later version than the one packaged in JDeveloper, then applications developed in JDeveloper are not guaranteed to work in extended OC4J. It is always recommended
to develop and test against the OC4J in JDeveloper.
If you are using JDeveloper 10.1.2 make sure to use the right admin.jar (always point the path to the one in OC4J install ) in your OC4J connection.
In future release Oracle is trying to address such problems by allowing user to configure JDeveloper against a particular version of OC4J.

Shay, I agree with you that the specific tutorial uses JDeveloper 10.1.3 and I need to use JDK 5 to run that version of JDeveloper.
Earlier when I used JDK 5 with JDeveloper 10.1.3, I got different error saying "Found runtime environment 49.0 expected environment is 48.0".....so I moved over to J2SE1.4.2_08 version but now I am getting an error as shown in the stack trace given in the very first post to this thread.

But when i create Java Test Client for some EJB and when i check " Connect Remote Application server" there is 2 comboboxes
    J2EE Application
    App Server Connection.
first combo is ok there is EJB applicaiton
Secound is empty .. but i Have App Server.
Another think is that when i create EJB 3.0 its BAD to see J2EE app it must be J EE 5 app or just Java EE app

when i run the jsp in jdev i get the following message:

After this, the oc4j container is up an running, because i can reach it over the adress localhost:8988.
    So now my two questions:
-> there is no browser starting (i tried different entries under tools-preferences-webproxy). what can be the reason?
-> where does the error message no route to host come from?
    thank you

Hi, here Re: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect i post my workaround.
    bye

  • How to reload embedded oc4j in JDeveloper without terminating it?

    To the experienced:
Using JDeveloper (10.1.3.4), when I need to see the effect of my changes in the application code (in the backing beans), the only way I know is to terminate the embedded oc4j by clicking the red square button (or Run > Terminate > Embedded OC4J Server), and then run a .jspx page to restart the oc4j. All these steps are just for the changes in the code to be loaded into the oc4j.
That is a bit too cumbersome because such reloading is frequent. To test the changed application I need to use an outside page that sends a request to that .jspx page, with some information that the .jspx page needs. That won't work because the oc4j has been terminated. So I have to Run that .jspx page inside JDeveloper just to start the oc4j, knowing that this will spill error in the browser window because the information from the outside page is missing.
Is there a way to have the application in the running oc4j updated without terminating and restarting the oc4j?
    Thanks for helping!
    Newman

It kind of depends on the type of changes you did - some changes can be picked up automatically just by saving the new file and reloading in the browser.
In any case you don't need to first stop the server and then run, you can just hit the run button again and JDeveloper will re-deploy your new page.
You can have the HTML file be part of your project and run it from inside JDeveloper - this will also re-deploy your new JSPX.

  • Problem running embeded OC4J from JDeveloper 11g TP 3

I've just downloaded JDeveloper 11g Technical Preview 3. Unzipped it and ran.
IDE runs ok, but when I try to run Web project on embedded OC4J, I got exceptions and the server never starts (exception text included on the bottom).
Here is the way to reproduce the error:
    1. Create new Web Project with New Gallery wizard:
    a. New Gallery->general->projects->web project
    b. on Web Application page (step 3 of 7) choose Servlet 2.5/JSP 21.
    c. on Page Flow technology page (4 of 7) choose none
    d. don't include available libraries (5 of 7)
    e. on Web Project Profile (6 of 7) check Add JSP Page
    f. finish
    e. choose jsp name (after clicking finish a dialog pops up)
    2. Run the page
    a. select the page in Application Navigator
    b. right click on it and choose Run option
In my case I got the following exception:

change the file to just (DIRTY way, but works)
    grant {
         permission java.security.AllPermission;
};Really dirty as these permissions are not Java EE compliant.
