OCI-01555 exception on calling OracleXmlType .Value method

Hi,
I'm using Oracle 10g EX, and ODAC 1020221. I created an ODP.net based C# webservice that reads/writes xml data using stored procedures.
I implemented the read as illustrated below:
OracleConnection connection = new OracleConnection(...);
OracleCommand command = connection.CreateCommand();
OracleParameter param = command.CreateParameter();
param.ParameterName = "XML_COL";
param.OracleDbType = OracleDbType.XmlType;
param.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
command.ExecuteNonQuery();
OracleParameter param = command.Parameters["XML_COL"];
OracleXmlType xmlType = (OracleXmlType)param.Value;
string value = xmlType.Value;
This works fine as long I call it in a single-threaded test.
However, when I run a multi-threaded test with more than 2 threads I'm getting the occasional exception on calling xmlType.Value:
OCI-01555: Message 1555 not found; product=RDBMS; facility=OCI
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleErrorHelper(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx* pOpoSqlValCtx,
Object src, String procedure)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleError(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, Object src)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Types.OracleXmlType.HandleError(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, Object src)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Types.OracleXmlType.get_Value()
Surprisingly, I have not been able to find any documentation regarding this error, though there is a ORA error with the same number indicating some rollback size issues.
The problem seem to occur when another thread in my webservice updates the same record. The stored procedure is "safe-guarded" by a lock, however, I didn't implement additional locking in my webservice, because a) I thought odp.net can cope, and b) ado.net/sql has no problem with this approach, but perhaps I assumed wrongly?
Has anybody seen this exception before and can explain what this is all about?
Many thanks,
Frank

we meet exactly the same problem.
Did you fix it?

  • NO_PERMISSION Exception when calling secured EJB-methods

    In WL6.1, I have an Ejb with secured methods. The (Swing) client application accesses the Ejb through rmi-iiop using the JDK1.3.1 Orb.
    Unfortunately, it seems that the caller identity (which was supplied in the InitialContext lookup) is not propagated
    to the server: any call to a secured method
    fails with a CORBA NO_PERMISSION Exception.
    Non secured methods work fine.
    Using the t3 protocol the program also works fine, but that would require
    the 25Mb weblogic.jar on all clients,
    which is unattainable for us.
    Any ideas how this situation can be corrected?

    I am still getting the NO_PERMISSION Exception when using "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory".
    We use Sun's JRE, version 1.3.1_01.
    Am I forgetting something?
    My code is as follows:
    InitialContext context = null;
    try {
    Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
    ht.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ht.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "iiop://localhost:80");
    ht.put(InitialContext.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "system");
    ht.put(InitialContext.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "system_password");
    context = new InitialContext(ht);
    Object objHome = context.lookup(EJB_NAME);
    MyHome myHome = (MyHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objHome, MyHome.class);
    MyRemote myRemote = myHome.create();
    //NEXT LINE Crashes when method is secured:
    myRemote.securedMethod();
    finally {

  • Java.rmi.RemoteException: EJB Exception: while calling an EJB method,

    Hi
    I am getting below error while calling a stateless EJB method. There is some validation checks while performing ejb's modify() method and a RuntimeException is thrown in case of validation failure.The modify() method internally calls other stateless ejb as well.
    The problem I'm facing is, instead of getting the expected RuntimeException in the Servlet, i am getting RemoteException. I am using WLS 9 MP1, all participating ejbs are stateless and i am using default transaction attributes(Supports) for these ejbs.
    The interesting part is, at the ejb layer RuntimeException is thrown as expected, but this exception changed to RemoteException at the servlet's end where i am catching the ejb call exceptions.
    I am new to WLS, please suggest/help me out of this exception.
    Any help is truly appreciated.

    Hi,
    If i don't misunderstand, you are using the RuntimeException as an application exception, right?
    Have you annotated it or denoted it in deployment descriptor?

    Malcom -
    This is an interesting problem that I could find no bugs or notes about. I hate to say it, but it sounds like the type of issue you will need to call Oracle Support on. Sounds like the type of thing that may need a test case and is too detailed for the forum.
    The only thing I could think of to even suggest (which I am sure you have already done) is make sure that you make it GLOBAL so that if you come back to it will still be there. I guess there is the possibility that when it works is because it has not yet been garbage collected.

  • Multiple calls of action method after exception during update model phase

    using: Sun RI 1.1_01
    Situation: have a view with
    * a field that has a value binding to a setter that can throw an exception, with a message tag
    * a command button bound to an action method
    Enter a value in the field that will trigger the exception. You will get the same page again, with a message from the exception; the action method is not called.
    Now change the value to something that will be accepted by the setter. The action method will now be called twice.
    I presume this is a bug?
    On code inspection of the RI 1.1_01, it turns out that an EvaluationException is thrown, which is translated by the ValueBindingImpl#setValue method into another EvaluationException, after posting the exception message as JSF message. This method is run inside UIInput updateModel, which essentially sets valid to false. This will result in interrupting the normal phase cycle, and makes us jump to render response, as expected.
    Now all this happens during the update model phase, and earlier an event for the application phase was posted, to trigger execution of the action method. Since we did not reach the application phase, this event is never executed, but also it is never removed from the event List structure.
    It is lurking inside the UIViewRoot, and is still there in the next request/response cycle. If in this next cycle, there is no more interruption, we will eventually reach the application phase, but there we now have 2 events waiting to be executed. As a result, the action method will be called twice.
    If you trigger the exception in the setter more often, all action events will be saved for the next cycles. If you trigger the exception n times, the action method will be executed n+1 times the first time there is a submit with no exception.
    This can not be intended behavior, can it?

    BTW: MyFaces does this in UIViewRoot:
        public void processUpdates(FacesContext context) {
            if (context == null) throw new NullPointerException("context");
            super.processUpdates(context);
            _broadcastForPhase(PhaseId.UPDATE_MODEL_VALUES);
            if (context.getRenderResponse() || context.getResponseComplete())
                clearEvents();
        }Events are cleared. Guess we are switching, then.

  • Marshall exception when calling a remote business method in EJB

    Hi,
    From a java client, i am calling a business method from a ejb. the home and remote interface object is sucessfully received at the client. but at the time of calling the remote business method the following error occurs.
    java.rmi.RemoteException: ; nested exception is:
    weblogic.rmi.ServerException: A remote exception occurred while executing the method on the
    remote object
    - with nested exception:

    [java.io.NotSerializableException: java.util.Vector$1]]
    java.io.NotSerializableException: java.util.Vector$1
    the business method returns an enumeration object.
    How to solve this?
    -chidam

    hi chidambaresh,
    you could have sent this to me directly.
    the Enumeration si an interface and so the object we get during the runtime is basically an object of some implementation of this interface.
    the Enumeration you get from HAshtable is actually Serializable.
    but the Enumeration you actually get from Vector (this is actaully an inner class of Vector viz., Vector$1) is not serializable. that is what the error you are getting.

    I was using the session bean.Your suggestion helped me a lot.Perfect.
    I debug my program and found that from ejbCreate()exception is getting.
    I was getting the datasource object thro ejb create() initialisation.
    Somehow the look up jndi which i mentioned was not interpretting from ejb-jar.xml ias-ejb-jar.xml and datasource ref .Due to this iam getting jndi Namenotfound exception which in turns to null pointer as datasource is getting null.
    when i hardcoded in the ejb the the jndi name for datasource it is working fine.Bit worried all the existing ejbs working with the xml referenced datasource and jndi,but when i added a new ejb with same properties it is failing to get the jndi name.

  • Howto call the @Remove method of a stateful session bean after JSF page ...

    I use EJB3, JPA, JSF in my web application. There are 2 database tables: Teacher and Student. A teacher can have many (or none) students and a student can have at most 1 teacher.
    I have a JSF page to print the teacher info and all his students' info. I don't want to load the students' info eagerly because there's another JSF page I need to display the teacher info only. So I have a stateful session bean to retrieve the teacher info and all his students' info. The persistence context in that stateful session bean has the type of PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED. The reason I choose a stateful session bean and an extended persistence context is that I want to write something like this without facing the lazy initialization exception:
    <h:dataTable value="#{backingBean.teacher.students}" var="student">
        <h:outputText value="${student.name}"/>
    </h:dataTable>Because my session bean is stateful, I have a method with the @Remove annotation. This method is empty because I don't want to persist anything to the database.
    Now, my question is: How can I make the @Remove method of my stateful session bean be called automatically when my JSF page finishes being rendered?

    this is my coding. when i am calling my standard screen with transaction code and i changed the status and after when i press save button i am getting dump
    type conflict at call of a method.
    Error analysis:
        An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
        The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_TYPE', was
         not caught in
        procedure "SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a
         RAISING clause.
        Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
        exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
        The reason for the exception is:
        The call of the method "IF_SWF_CNT_CONVERSION_SERVICE~IMPORT_FROM_SIMPLE_CONTAI
        NER" of the class "CL_SWF_CNT_CONVERSION_SERVICE" is incorrect. It was tried
        to transfer a non-compatible variable to the formal parameter "VALUES".
    Please help me to get out from this issue.

    Hi Sreekar,
    The table ls_container should be of type SWR_CONT & not SWCONT.
          ls_container type TABLE OF SWCONT,  " Change this to
               ls_container type TABLE OF SWR_CONT,  "This is the correct type

  • How to handle exception thrown in standard bo method in the workflow design

    Hi Experts
        how to handle exception thrown from standard bo method in the workflow design. For example, bo BUS2032, METHOD confirm. If the user cancel it, it will throw exception. In the workflow, how to catch this exception and add corresponding steps in the workflow.

    @jrockman li
    Try to implement the logic that what ever you are performing in the BO mehtod in a FM and in the FM you have tab with name EXECPTIONS define the execption in that tab.Now in the BO method you call this FM  and if the exception occurs by using RAISE you can raise the exception in the FM and based on the number of exceptions your sy-subrc value will be set
    so when sys-subrc is not eq 0 then pass a value back t the workflow container., I think this will work.
    a sample Snippet for understanding purpose
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'
      EXPORTING
        filename         = <path>
        filetype         = 'ASC'
      IMPORTING
        filelength       = lv_len
      TABLES
        data_tab         = l_txt_tab
      EXCEPTIONS
        file_write_error = 1          " If this Exception occurs
        invalid_type     = 2
        no_authority     = 3
        unknown_error    = 4
        OTHERS           = 10.
    CASE sy-subrc.
      WHEN 1. " SY-SUBRC value will be 1 then,
          " Pass or set the value back to the workflow conatiner element
    ENDCASE.

  • Illegal call to EJBContext method

    Hi,
    I ran a code that uses stateless beans a lot of times (to check performance). After a while I get this exception:
    <b>[EJB:010193]Illegal call to EJBContext method. The bean is in "null" state. It cannot perform 'getting caller principal for the Stateless EJB' OR 'is caller in role for Stateless EJB' action(s). Refer to the EJB specification for more details.</b>
    Any idea what can be the problem?
    thanks

    Hi,
    If I don't initialize primary key in ejbCreate method I would get the error like :
    javax.ejb.CreateException: In EJB XXXXE, primary key field 'id'
    was not set during ejbCreate. All primary key fields must be initialized during ejbCreate.
    To avoid that, I need to know the current primary key value.We are using sequence at database level to autogenerate primary key.I could not get that value at Java level(Entity bean).
    So I just tried to set the value from EntityContext class. I know thats wrong, since EntityContext cannot be set before create method..
    But I really concern about Sun Specs, Where is that 9.6.5 section???
    its not at all there ..
    Thanks

  • How to call a bean method through a javascript function

    I dont discover any problems calling the bean method in this maner:
    <%= helpdesk.data() %>
    But, when I use a Button Onclick= to call the script function and which then is going call my bean method
    an error on the page is reported!
    I have include som code which gives you the idea of what Iam searching for. And is it possible to call
    the bean method without doing from a new jsp page?
    If you have any suggestions to why it doesnt work, please let me know.
    I use Apache Tomcat 4.0
    Best regards Micah.
    <jsp:useBean id='helpdesk' scope='application'
    class='helpdesk.testdb'/>
    <html>
    <head>
    <script language="javascript">
    function broadcast()
    helpdesk.data();
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <input type="button" value="Broadcast" onclick= broadcast()>
    </body>
    </html>

    It's actually quite simple:
    Beans run server-side
    Javascript runs client-side
    So you will never be able to run server-side-code thru the client...

  • How to call a bean method through javascript?

    i am inplementing addition of textbox at runtime.i wrote method and i am calling that on the button click.but the textbox is not created.
    the code is bleow
    public String doAction() {
         tryStuff1();
    return "samplejsf";
    public void tryStuff1()
    System.out.println("Enter the trystuff method");
         FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    UIViewRoot uIViewRoot = facesContext.getViewRoot();
    Application application = facesContext.getApplication();
    UIComponent formComp=uIViewRoot.findComponent("subbody:form1");
    HtmlPanelGrid grid= new HtmlPanelGrid();
    grid.setId("panelgrid2");
    grid.setColumns(2);
    grid.setBorder(2);
    //UIComponent panelGridComp=formComp.findComponent("subbody:panelgrid1");
    //UIComponent panelGroupComp=panelGridComp.findComponent("panelgroup2");
         HtmlOutputText output = new HtmlOutputText();
    output.setValue("dynamic jsf text2");
    System.out.println("hello output text2");
    output.setRendered(true);
    grid.getChildren().add(output);
    HtmlInputText input = new HtmlInputText();
    input.setSize(40);
    input.setValueBinding("value", (ValueBinding) application.createValueBinding("#{sample.text2}"));
    input.setRendered(true);
    grid.getChildren().add(input);
    System.out.println("hello output text1");
    grid.setRendered(true);
    formComp.getChildren().add(grid);
    System.out.println("hello output text3:");
    formComp.getRendersChildren();
    formComp.setRendered(true);
    public boolean getRendersChildren() {
         return true;
    jsp code is
    <h:form id="form1">
    <h:panelGrid columns="2" binding="#{sample.formElements}">
    </h:panelGrid>
    <h:panelGrid id="panelgrid1" columns="1">
    <h:panelGroup id="panelgroup1">
    <h:outputText value="hardcoded jsf text1"/>
    <h:inputText value="#{sample.text1}"/>
    </h:panelGroup>
    </h:panelGrid>
    <h:commandButton id="add" action="#{sample.doAction}" value="add" type="SUBMIT"/>
    </h:form>
    when i click on the button its going into the method and diaplying s.o.p but the text box is not updated to the page.
    why is it so.
    i thought there may be a problem in calling the method directly thru button. i want to try thru javascript calling the bean method.
    why is the page not updated.
    can u help me out
    thanks in advance
