ODBC Driver for Windows 7 - 64 bit

Hi All,
I am having problems with using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Driver in Windows 7 - 64bit system. I am using the following code in my VB script
Set myConnection = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
myConnection.Open "Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle};" & "Server=xxxxxx;" & "Uid=xxxxx;" & "Pwd=xxxxx"
Set myRecord = CreateObject("ADODB.recordset")
Sql = "Select * from employees where id= '01234'"
myRecord.Open Sql, myConnection
For Each r In myRecord.Fields
MsgBox r.Name
Next
I get the following error message: "The Oracle (tm) client and networking components are not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3 (or greater) client software installation, You will be unable to use this driver until these components have been installed"
"[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed"
Can you help me out on which version of Oracle client i need to install and what other settings I need to do on my Windows 7 system after the client installation.

I tried installing "instantclient-basic-windows.x64-11.2.0.4.0" and "instantclient-odbc-windows.x64-11.2.0.4.0" both. I ran the odbc_install.exe in command prompt as administrator and got the message "Oracle ODBC Driver is installed successfully."
I also set the environment Variable "Path" as "C:\instantclient_11_2".
But when tried to use the above VBScript to connect to the Oracle DB, i get the same error message. I am really stuck with this for past two days.

  • Installing ODBC Driver for Windows Server 2008 64 bit

I have a new Windows 2008 server 64 bit in which the Oracle ODBC is missing. We are on Oracle 10.2. It looks like I need to install the developer suite first in order to get tnsnames and sql plus, but I can find only the 32 bit version. Could someone point me in the direction of what exactly I need to install in order to get sql plus working and also to install the Oracle ODBC on this server?
    Thank You

I need to install the developer suite first in order to get tnsnames and sql plusThat's wrong, you need to install the correct client:

  • Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 2.10.11.00 on  Windows 2008 64-bit

    Hello,
Our application runs on Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and connects to RDB databases on Alpha Open/VMS via Oracle ODBC Driver fro Rdb release 2.10.11.00.
We are migrating to Windows Server 2008 64-bit environment.
We tested both recent Rdb ODBC driver releases (3.3.0.0 and 3.3.1.0) but we are getting errors intermittently when the application loads data from certain tables. Trace logs show no errors which could indicate the origin of the issue.
We want to use the old (2.10.11.00) release but it cannot be installed only on the Win 2008 32-bit version.
Can anyone suggest how to install the Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb release 2.10.11.00 on a Windows 2008 64-bit Server?
    Thanks in advance,
    Momir

  • ODBC driver for Win Server 2008 64-bit.

I need help with installing the ODBC driver for Win 2008 64-bit. I'm not really familiar with Oracle products but anyway I was asked to install the driver. I downloaded Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.7.20 which includes the Oracle ODBC Driver 11.1.0.7.0 from this link http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html. I only needed the ODBC driver so that's what I selected during installation (plus one other required component). The installation was successful but when I go into ODBC admin to add a new data source I don't see the Oracle driver. I probably downloaded the wrong software. Can someone point me to the right direction? Thanks.

  • 64 bit Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle

    Hi,
Does Microsoft provide a 64 bit ODBC Driver for Oracle and where we can get it?

ThanksInstall the Oracle client and use the Oracle driver. You're going to need it whether you use the MS driver or Oracles. ODBC drivers do not work apart from the client of the underlying database product.
When you do the install, you will need to do a custom install and specifically select for the Windows components.

Ok, I found in the Net the drive 7uw706ww.zip, which is Version 6.1.4.2, while the updated version is 6.1.10.5 (7UW708WW).
I tried again the GPS, and it wasn't working.
Anyway, before downgrading, I tried to reinstall the new driver, downloading and installing the .exe instead going through System Update.
Result: now GPS is working (same place, same conditions, just 5 minutes later)!

Use the Photosmart 320 series driver available through Windows Update.

  • Installing HP Laser Jet 5 driver for Windows 7 64-bit or 32-bit

I had an issue with installing an HP LaserJet 5 printer to a WIndows 7 64-bit box.  I thought I would post my experience and solution to this problem so that others can quickly resolve similar issues.
If you connect as I did with a Parallel Printer-to-USB cable, then Win-7 searches for drivers automatically. But none werre found. However, using "Add Printer" via Control Panel/View Devices and Printers/Printers and Faxes, then left click starts the process for finding and installing the HP driver needed.
No need as others have suggested to go to HP Support Center to install their Universal Printing PCL 5 driver found here:
www1.hp.com/...Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5/
Hope this helps speed you on your way!

Thanks for sharing your tip RatioCynic!  That's what this forum is all about!
    Happy printing!
    Thanks!

  • X301 and Vodafone and AT&T Wireless WAN (HSPA) Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)

Ok, I (Lenovo) did it again.
System Update showed me this update: "Vodafone and AT&T Wireless WAN (HSPA) Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)".
As I'm using Vodafone and I had a AT&T driver, I decided to update.
The result is, that now the GPS doesn't work.
Yes, I'm in a place where the GPS signal is present (my house, with the previous driver I was able to get 6/7 satellites).
What happens? Lenovo TV GPS stays there trying to fix the satellites, but nothing happens. I can't recover the system to a previous state, as I updated Flash player too, and Windows only show me the possibility to roll back this update.
So, apart advicing everyone not to update, I kindky ask:
    - where can I found the previous driver? I searched the web without success...
    - why does Lenovo deploy driver which can cause problems (I just had one updating the BT driver last week! .msi installer problem, error 1935...)?
    Thanks to everyone

Can you please specify the version of operating system along with the bit version.
Also, specify the path of ODBC data source administrator (odbcad32.exe).
