ODBC problem caused by SQLGetInfoW function's data type abnormally output

Background:We have designde a set of ODBC(Unicode) driver.We use Access2013x64 for data import operation according to the ODBC driver, which is called the
SQLGetInfoW function.Because of the third parameter in SQLGetinfoW function outputing 8 bytes data in error,Access abnormally stop.While using Access2010x64,the same operation, the SQLGetInfoW funtion has also output 8 bytes of data and Access is normally
end.
Questions:
We want to know for the operation of the third parameter'outputing data of SQLGetinfoW funtion,is there a difference between Access2013 and Access2010 ? And what
is the specific difference?
In addition, we also want to know the development on the ODBC what kind of standards should we followed? In other words,in the SQLGetInfoW function, the second
parameter InfoType and the third parameter InfoValuePtr existence of the corresponding relationship in theory.
We saw about the second parameter InfoType and the third parameter InfoValuePtr with the definition and the range of instructions in MSDN ODBC API Reference.
We want to know the relation about the value of InfoType and the third parameter InfoValuePtr should return data's type.
The function SQLGetInfoW statement as follows:
SQLRETURN SQLGetInfoW(
     SQLHDBC         ConnectionHandle,
     SQLUSMALLINT    InfoType,
     SQLPOINTER      InfoValuePtr,
     SQLSMALLINT     BufferLength,
     SQLSMALLINT *   StringLengthPtr);
looking forward to your answer...

I think this is a very difficult question, but I really need to know the answer.I hope someone can help me.

    Hi Wang Tao,
    For achieving this you need to user Adaptive RFC models.

  • PLEASE HELP!!!  Problem with Java and SQLServer Text data type

    Hi there,
    I have a java app. that reads from an MS SQLServer database. Originally, all long text fields were declared as NVARCHAR(200). The program worked fine.
    Someone then advised that I change all long text fields to the TEXT data type. The program now crashes out with the following Exception:
    "java.sql.SQLException: [JRun][SQLServer JDBC Driver]This ResultSet can not re-read row data for column 25."
    Basically, I have a method that retrieves a resulset and iterates through it. The resultset is passed to another method during each iteration. In the example below, the 'specialNote' field used to be NVARCHAR(200). The code worked fine. Then when it was changed to TEXT, the program no longer works with the above Exception thrown.
    Anyone know any special way SQLServer TEXT data types need to be handled?
    Thanks for any advice!
    The code looks something like this in functionality:
    <CODE>
    public void method1 (Connection conn)
    Resultset rs = conn.createStatement().executeQuery("SELECT * FROM ProductBB");
    while (rs.next())
    method2(rs);
    public void method2 (ResultSet rs)
    String str = rs.getString("specialNote");
    </CODE>

    Hi JWoods,
    Thanks for the suggestion. I originally had the code do what you suggested, ie, get the resultset then retrieve the data all within the same method. The data is then used to set properties in an object.
    When I had to create another method that also retrieved a resultset but using a different primary key, then also use the returned data to set the properties in the same type of object, I didn't want to repeat the setter code. That's why I decided to pass the resultsets to the same method that did the property setting.
    Unfortunately, it stopped working with the data type change.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Problem to transform Flat file to Data Type Structurated and map to IDOC

    Hi all,
    I have a file to idoc scenario.

    4#!dades45#!b#!c#!d#!e#!f#!g
    5#!pos5
    where 1, 2, ... = key segments for the file adapter and #! are the field separator.
    this must go to a Data Type with substructures like this:
    (xml)
    .1
    ......2
    .3
    ......4
    ......5
    where 2 is inside 1 and 4-5 inside 3.
    The reason of this is we can get unbounded replays of 3/4/5 for one header.
    But XI reads the information like if all segments are headers.
    .1
    .2
    .3
    .4
    .5
    So the IDOC is bad created.
    Where is the issue?  At Message Mapping all substructures are mapped with his default and at TEST option it works fine.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    best regards

    Dear people,
    according to license problems at client, it's impossible to get the convert agent.
    so now we come back to try to solve with normal mapping.
    the next step is try to convert it using 2 message mappings: dt (flat xml) to dt (structurated) and this one to the idoc.
    i suppose it can be done adding program at interface mapping.
    I created the no hiereachical Data Type for load the information and it's fine. But i am unable to get the first mapping OK, because XI has problems with unbounded segments.
    If you agreed and has time, i copy here the information and his structure.
    I receive (#! defines separation and key segment fields are 1,2,3,4,5):

  • Sybase ODBC driver for Linux - handle of numeric data type is not correctly

    Linux RHEL 4 + Oracle 10.2.0.3 - all work fine. But numeric data type does not coorectly show values. I gor driver from ASE 15. Who has already resolve this issue???

    To begin with:
    - what is the table definition in Sybase?
    - what is the table definition in Oracle: SQL> describe <table>@<sybase_hsodbc_link>;
    and probably you need to start a gateway debug trace (HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL-DEBUG) and an ODBC trace to see what happens.
    You could paste the appropriate section(s) here. Also paste the init<hsodbc>.ora and odbc.ini .

  • Problem with central build of Simple Date Type with Enumeration

    Dear gurus,
    I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. Please advise if I'm in the wrong forum.
    I have a Web Dynpro DC in which I've created a simple data type with enumeration.  It is used for binding to a radio box. The data type is called DownloadType; the enumeration contains two vales: current and archive. To allow me to access the enumeration values, I turn on the "Generate a class representation of the enumeration" in the data type builder.
    I then reference the enumeration values with code like:
    if (downloadType.equals (DownloadType._CURRENT))
        yada yada yada
    This works fine when building locally and deploying directly. But when the DC is built by CBS (or doing a "Development Component->Build..." in NW Dev Studio), the build fails, stating that the DownloadType._CURRENT symbol cannot be resolved.
    For example:
    C:yadayadayada.java:227: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol  : variable _CURRENT
    location: class yadayadayada.DownloadType
                    equals(DownloadType._CURRENT))  {
    Apparently the central builder is not smart enough to handle the "Generate a class representation" flag.
    Is this a known problem? Are there any workarounds?
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Problem in the External Function returned data RAW

    Hi,
    I have a problem, I would want to create an external function in Oracle 10g, than given in input a data RAW it gives back in output the value in format raw.
    I have realized such function through language C.
    these are the prototypes of the function
    ORACLE side:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION F_RETURN_RAW (inputText IN RAW)
    RETURN RAW                                                                  -- I do not know to return RAW !!!
    AS LANGUAGE C
    NAME "f_Return_Raw"
    LIBRARY C_Library_DAN
    PARAMETERS
    (inputText RAW,
    inputText INDICATOR,
    inputText LENGTH);
    C side:
    ???? f_Return_Raw(CK_BYTE_PTR in_Text,
    short *in_TextInd,
    int *in_TextLen)
    I do not know what to put in place of ????
    someone can help me with some example?
    thanks to all!
    Regards
    Daniele

    Hello I had already seen the package UTL_RAW,
    in particular is CAST_TO_VARCHAR2 that CAST_TO_RAW,
    but these me are useful Oracle side,
    my problem are to give back to Oracle, from side C, one RAW.
    Perhaps it is not possible to give back a RAW directly?
    or I have more probably not understood your suggestion!
    I would want to create a function that he concurred me to make that
    insert into table_example values(f_Return_Raw(RAW_INPUT))
    that the function gives back RAW directly

  • ODBC Problem for MSAccess file as Source data extraction

    <p><span class="postbody">Hi,</span></p><p><span class="postbody"><br />Please dont ignore this posting. Please try to help in providing relevent solution to my problem. <br />I believe, my previous posting didnot convey you. Let me explain my problem to you. <br />I have MSAccess database file(.mdb) to process. I am able to process for 1(One) file. I am testing for multiple files submission. As the ODBC points on the file1 and when i need to submit file2, its not allowing me to do a sql query. says, &#39;Database access Error&#39;. <br />I am trying to work on usual way, that is, moving file from Incoming to Processing folder where the processing folder holds the ODBC pointer on the file, here the file cannot be deleted as the job going to fail. For this reason, i am replacing the file which is under Processing folder and trying to access the file same time, but it fails with the &#39;Database access Error&#39;. <br /><br />I have tired using DI exec() for replacing file and also tired using the batch script. <br />Here i find the DI is one step behind using the batch script. When i use Batch script it replaces the file in Processing folder and fails with above error but when i use the DI exec() and pass the parameters to Replace file from incoming folder to Processing folder, the job does&#39;t support Replace command,instead it starts processing the existing file(ODBC pointer file). <br />I think DI has peculiar problem in this situation. Please advice and show the way how i can fix this. <br /></span></p>

    How can the ODBC driver still hold a handle on the previous file if the dataflow stopped and hence its process stopped. Can you try with a different application, e.g. excel to do the same manually just to figure it is not a problem of the ODBC driver itself?

    Output Column: Cookies       ID: 8323     Datatype: DT_I4
    This looks fine to me. Why am I getting the error?
    This is SQL Server 2008 and I am working at this point only in BIDS, so it is not a question of dev vs prod server or anything. One environment, running in BIDS. Other similar data flows seems to be working ok. It seems the error is referring to a datatype
    mismatch in the source--but how can that be?
    Thanks!

    Actually, I am wrong in that Visakh. I think you are correct.
    There are two versions of all tables, one with 15 minute rollups and one with daily rollups. Otherwise the tables are the same--same exact fields. I use a loop with a data flow inside to get data from one version of the rollup and then the other.
    The problem is, for some of the fields with larger values the datatype is NUMERIC instead of INTEGER. (This is Cache database). SO:
    dailyCookies:   Field: CountOne   Datatype:  NUMERIC
    15minCookies:   Field: CountOne   Datatype: INTEGER
    A variable dynamically creates the query so it appends "daily" or "15min" to the beginning of the tables. So on the first loop it does the 15min tables and on the second the daily tables. When I created this particular table I have to plug a default query
    in so I used the daily. It picked up the datatype as NUMERIC so when I run the package it loops through 15min first and sees the datatype is INTEGER.
    How to deal with this? I suppose I could convert the datatype in the source query, but that would be a hassle to do that for some fields and not others. This tables has hundreds of fields, BTW. Can one source object deal with a change of datatypes? SSIS
    is so picky on datatypes compared to other tools....
    Thanks,

  • Problem in using OCIBindByName  for date type column

    Hi,
    Can you please guide me about my following problem?
    I am trying to fetch the data from system table "FLOWS_020100.WWV_FLOW_ACTIVITY_LOG1$" in Oracle Express edition 10.2.0.3 database, using the OCI library on Windows with C++
    This table has a TIMESTAMP column of date type.
    I've the following query as below:
    select TIME_STAMP from FLOWS_020100.WWV_FLOW_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ where TIME_STAMP > to_date('31/OCT/12 23:59:59', 'DD-MON-YY HH24:MI:SS') order by TIME_STAMP asc;
    For this, first I am preparing the query as below:
    select TIME_STAMP from FLOWS_020100.WWV_FLOW_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ where TIME_STAMP > :PKVAL order by TIME_STAMP asc;
    Before calling OCIExecute(), I am setting the PKVAL buffer to following value:
    "to_date('31/OCT/12 23:59:59', 'DD-MON-YY HH24:MI:SS') "
    & calling the OCIBindByName function with data type as SQLT_DATE.
    But when the OCIExecute is called, my program crashes with access violation
    Can you please guide me what is the correct way to pass the date value in query to OCI? How do we bind the date values?
    Thanks in advance for your time and help.
    Best Regards.

    I had a similar problem. TO_DATE doesn't appear to function w/ BindByName or BindByPos.
    You are going to have to bite the bullet and use an actual date.
    Here's an example (I am using two dates in my query):
    int main (int argc, char **argv, char **envp)
    static text invalidQuery = (text )"SELECT f1.my_val, COUNT(f1.my_val) invalid_count, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM my_db_table f2 WHERE f2.my_val = f1.my_val AND f2.foo_dt = :1 ) total_count FROM my_db_table f1 WHERE f1.foo_dt = :1 AND ( (f1.vld_bar_sw IS NULL OR f1.vld_bar_sw = 'N') OR (f1.vld_foo_sw IS NULL OR f1.vld_foo_sw = 'N') ) group by my_val order by my_val asc";
    OCIDate boundDateVal;
    sb2 inputYear;
    ub1 inputMonth;
    ub1 inputDay;
    char inputYearStr [] = "0000";
    char inputMonthStr [] = "00";
    char inputDayStr [] = "00";
    /* I get and validate the date as input, but you can set it however you'd like */
    inputYear = (sb2) (atoi (inputYearStr));
    inputMonth = (ub1) (atoi(inputMonthStr));
    inputDay = (ub1) (atoi(inputDayStr));
    /* Allocating Date*/
    OCIDateSetDate ( &boundDateVal, inputYear, inputMonth, inputDay );

  • Data type Replication and ODBC

    I want to convert table that has column with LONG datatype to
    supported datatype by replication. Currently the LONG column
    contains more than 4,000 bytes so I can't convert to Varchar(2).
    If I convert to CLOB then the application that we are using is
    connecting through ODBC drivers and CLOB is not supported by
    ODBC.
    Is any one run into this situation? What is recommended or
    practical solutions for this problem?
    Thanks.

    Thx,
    I used data type java.sql.Timezone and it works fine ;) This data type parse Date to format yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss, so basically does not matter if I use string or this type :) but this is better ;)
    Problem is in timezone ! :( In data type java.sql.Timezone is not possible set timezone! :(

  • Problem with packed data type variable?

    Hi all,
    I have a problem while doing calculations with packed data type variables . As they are saving in the format '0,00'. so unable to do calulations because of ',' .
    To convert these fields into str and replacing ',' with '.' is very time consuming because i have many packed data type variables.
    Can you please provide any other alternative for over coming this problem? Is there any option while defining these variables?
    Thanks,
    Vamshi.

    Hi VAMSHI KRISHNA,
    First check out SU01 Tcode (if u don't have permission then u can ask BASIS to do it)
    Enter User Name
    Execute
    Goto Defaults Tab
    Check Out Decimal Notation here... set it 1,234,567.89
    SAVE it
    Log Off once and again login with the same user id and check the result...
    Hope it will solve your problem..
    Thanks & Regards

  • How to change the data type of an item in administrator

    Hi,
    A summary folder was created. One of the item in the summary folder is a sum. That sum item was created in the business area (based on another item). I can't refresh that summary folder because it gives me an oracle error (Ora-12008 and Ora-01401 the value is too large for the column). The column that this item is based on is of data type Number(13). How can I fix this problem without changing the column's data type of the original table? I already tried altering the data type in the EUL table via TOAD.
    Thanks!

    You really don't need to sum the item before hand if you are going to create a summary!

  • Import from Designer crashes with IMAGE data type

    Hello,
    I'd like to report an issue with Data Modeler while importing from Oracle Designer. If you consider this a bug, please let me know if I need to do anything else to request a fix for it.
    I've used the import > Oracle Designer Model tool to import an application model. The import runs fine for a while, then crashes with a message "There are errors in import - check log file".
    The application to be imported has 509 domains, 963 entities to import.
    The summary info displayed after the import (when I close the error message pop up) is:
    All statements: 1472
    Imported statements: 538
    Failed statements: 0
    Not recognized statements: 934
    The log file has the lines below:

    I see the issue with the IMAGE data type in the log. The model to be imported does have domains and entities using this data type. The domain actually did get imported, but it shows as "Unknown" logical type, even though there is an Image type available in the Data Modeler type list. None of the entities using IMAGE got imported.
    Please let me know if you can provide a fix or workaround for this (other than changing the format in Designer).
    Thank you,
    Beatriz.

    Hello Beatriz,
    definitely this is a bug. The problem with entities is not IMAGE data type it's supported there (it's overlooked for domains). The problem is volume information - Initial, Maximum, Average, Growth rate. No workaround for that.
    Domain can be changed manually if it's just one affected.
