Odd PC Firefox bug with video

I have a strange issue that's only popping up with Firefox on
a PC. If you click the following link it loads a video player that
has a tabbed interface on top. As each video finishes playing it's
supposed to switch to the next tab and then begin loading the next
video.
http://www.sitespect.com/demos/demo-1.shtml
It all works just fine in IE, Safari and Firefox on the Mac,
but on the PC in Firefox it just skips from tab to tab without
letting the video play. It's like the browser is somehow forcing
Flash to call the "complete" function early. (I'm using an
eventListener object)
Has anybody heard of any bugs or special Firefox behavior
that would explain what's going on?

First of all, thank you for the quick response.
I believed first, that issue had something to do with the HTML-sizing of the output only.
However, it appeared to me, that there must be an issue with the rendering, because embedded images (e.g. from powerpoint) are more or less correct in their appearance.
Why I decided to ask is, because the above images are from the SAME video output without rendered NOT as HTML-scaled - but just with a different browser use and of course the same screen resolution, html docs etc.pp.
Also, the error in Internet Explorer occurs with ALL rendered videos and with screen resolution set to later vid resolution as well...
It is also likely, that the error affects only VIDEO output and not bitmaps.
As far as I know, if recording screenvideos and demos, Captivate splits the output intelligently between Video (.mp4) and bitmaps.
That is, why I point at an rendering error of whether IE or captivate.
Did anyone have a similiar issue?

  • Less than two week old iPad Air crashes with youtube/netflix and Safari when loading pages with video (i.e. Buzzfeed with links to youtube and vine). What's up with iPad Air's bugs with videos??

Week and a half old iPad Air crashes with light usage of youtube, netflix and safari pages with video links to youtube and vine. The consistency of problems with videos has led me to determine that it must be bugs with iPad Air. Anyone else having this problem?
Details: iPad Air 16gb wifi, have only used about 25% of space and always close all apps before opening another. I also have only had a max of two tabs open on safari of basic internet surfing (i.e. A google search page, or imdb for example). These crashes are annoying as sh......

I can well imagine that they are.
I would backup, restore to factory settings, restore from the backup and then try again. If that fails, restore again but do not use the backup - restore as new. If the iPad functions OK as new, then slowly rebuild the iPad adding your apps, music etc, methodically to see if you can pin down what might be causing the problem.
if all of that fails, it's time to schedule an appointment at an Apple a Store (must be done online) and have them take a look, or of it is lees than two weeks old, just return it for a refund and buy another one.

  • Next and Previous don't work with video in Playlists

In iTunes for Windows 10.1.2.17, when playing video from a playlist, the video will end and the video window will close, and playback stops. No new video will play. The same thing occurs when clicking on the Next or Previous buttons (both on the video window and in the playback controls at the top of iTunes. Shouldn't the next video in the playlist (or the next random video) play once the first has completed?
This is a new behavior. It did not occur with earlier versions of iTunes.
The Next and Previous buttons work as they are supposed to when playing video from the library, but then there is no way to select specific videos or to randomize playback as is possible under a playlist (which is the whole point of the playlist.)
The Next and Previous buttons still work as they are supposed to when playing music from a playlist. This new odd behavior occurs only with video playback.
Is this a known issue, or is there something I'm missing in the operation of iTunes? Are other people experiencing this behavior?

This happened to me as well with Windows 7 32 bit (which I did as as upgrade from Vista Home Premium - if that might foul things up a bit) and affects Firefox 34.1 and IE. I did a system restore which took me back to Firefox 33 and Flash was fine. Later in the day Firefox updated back to 34.1 and I lost Flash again.

  • Firefox 9.0.1 keeps hanging once I access a website with video, when I write e-mails etc. If a press ctrl+alt+del, opens a window to confirm closing, and firefox works again. When I close that confirm window, firefox immediately hangs again.

It stops working if I access websites with videos, and all sort of more complex flash. It I try to write an e-mail, it also stops. I can't do anything. PC keeps working, though. So I press ctrl+alt+del. It opens that window asking if you want to close all the tabs. I notice that firefox start to work again, behind that window. But, once I close the window, it stops again. Sometimes I can close the tab with the video before it hangs again, which can take a few ctr+alt+del's. It doesn't happen with other browsers! It started 1 week ago. Is it an extension? Or a virus (i use avast)? Thank you!

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or  Chrome.

If so, you can download and install Mavericks for free from the App Store.

  • No audio with video, website navigation impaired, I can no longer recommend Firefox

I maintain the video site shaleshockmedia.org. I can no longer recommend Firefox to viewers because of the severe problem I have been experiencing: No audio with video; navigation often does not work. Maybe this is purely a local problem. Please let me know if the site is fully functional or not when you go there. There is no problem with Chrome or Safari. My computer is a Macbook Pro 3,1 Intel Core 2 Duo. MacOs 10.6.8

Note that there are a lot of popular extensions that can cause issues with videos not working apart from issues with the Flash plugin.
In what way is the navigation not working properly?
    Can you give some examples?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Problem with 2009.02 torrents and firefox (firefox bug ?)

when i download any torrent files for 2009.02 with firefox (simply cliking on the link of the torrent), i end up with an empty file with 400 permission. (in /tmp)
i need to use "download link target here" to get a valid torrent file. (i even have to do it twice ??)
    so i guess it's a bug in firefox ?
or something is wrong on the ftp site of archlinux ? why the torrent are not provided via http ?

Wow, that's weird. I just tried it and the links really don't seem to be working. It's not a Firefox bug, though. I'm sure because I downloaded the i686 Core ISO earlier today without a problem. Is the server the .torrents are hosted on down or something?
By the way, I have an unrelated question about seeding: I have no need for anything other than the i686 Core ISO, but should I download the other files just to seed? I have a really good upload speed, and I'd like to give back to the community any way I can.

Can you open up your Real Player and tell me what version you have? I think Real Player 15.0.6 is supposed to fix this problem. There was a conflict between Real Player and Flash this whole summer that broke Flash videos. Real Player released a update that might help in your case.
If that doesn't help, I think a addon might be to blame here. So do this:
    <br> '''Firefox button <img src=https://support.mozilla.org/media/uploads/images/2012-03-27-09-22-48-1204f1.png> > Help > Troubleshooting Information'''
<br> (or '''Tools > Help > Troubleshooting Information''')
Then click the "Copy all to clipboard" button then paste it here. It will tell us what addons you have installed and I can see which one might be causing problems.

  • Firefox freezes when i visit websites with videos on the background or i watch videos.I have windows 7 and the laatest version of mozilla.

I have windows 7 and the latest version of firefox. When i watch videos on youtube or visit websites with videos on the background mozilla freezes. I tried to disable all the extensions and plugins but it had no result.I didn't had this problem with versions of mozilla previous to 4.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • AIR bug with iOS fullscreen video! (easy repro)

Here's a bug with fullscreen AIR apps not dealing with iOS fullscreen video resize. Easy repro:
    1. Create an mc with a background graphic aligned with the top and bottom of the stage. (This is so you can easily see the bug.)
    2. Add a stageWebView and load an html page with embedded video. (or just load a video directly)
    3. Play video and enable fullscreen mode.
    4. Rotate device 90 degrees while in fullscreen mode and then hit "Done" button to return to stage (exit fullscreen).
    5. BUG: Stage is now "pushed down" and off-screen. (even though the mc still traces x = 0)
Conclusion: the display bug occurs when the user exits the iOS native player fullscreen mode from a different orientation then they started with (common if the original aspect ratio was portrait)
Can someone else please confirm this? (The amount of stage "push" appears to corrolate with the height of the iOS status bar.)
    Thanks.
PS. You don't necessarily need to load an html page. You can just have stageWebView load a video directly and experience the same result.
PPS. I also tried using the new UIWebView Native Extension and am seeing the same thing, so this is really looking like an AIR/Flash bug with the iOS native player.

A simpler summary for this issue:
If the device has been rotated since entering Fullscreen native player, a fullscreen app will be "pushed downwards" and off-screen slightly.
BUG: Adobe AIR app does not stay in fullscreen mode after such and event, ruining graphic UI for fullscreen apps.
Simple workaround: listen for on orientationChange and if stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.NORMAL, set to stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULLSCREEN.
However, iOS native player will lose traditional status bar appearance (and risk rejection by Apple??)
Complex workaround (as mentioned earlier) will keep the native player's status bar but result in the app's screen "flashing" upon resizing the stage.
Please help fix this bug by commenting in my bug report. Thanks again.

  • FIREFOX KEEPS STREAMING VIDEOS AFTER TABS OR FIREFOX ITSELF IS CLOSED-

Hi...this bug has not been fixed and I guess will never be fixed by Firefox developers as they do not consider this a problem... let me give you an example and prove the opposite...
''''''HOW TO CRASH YOUR PC AND SPEND A MONTHLY DOWNLOAD LIMIT IF YOU ARE ON MOBILE BROADBAND EVEN WITHOUT NOTICING HOW DID THIS HAPPENEN? EASILY... JUST START USING FIREFOX!!! OH DON’T FORGET TO PAY YOUR CRAZY INTERNET BILLS FOR THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED FROM THE WEB EVEN WITHOUT NOTICING IT :)''''''
Imagine if you are on mobile broadband...you pay for every megabyte you download or you have monthly limit like 10GB you can download per moth...I guess most of the mobile broadband users know exactly what I’m talking about and think twice before downloading stuff from internet because you can easily spent your monthly download limit in a day...
All you have to do is open Youtube for example and click on 20-50 video links... don’t worry...you don’t have to watch them all...just clink on video links and close all your tabs with videos started to stream...or just close Firefox…What will happen then…? Firefox will be streaming all videos you have opened and even thought Youtube video tabs or web browser itself will be closed Firefox will keep streaming all the videos you have opened... the only way to stop this is by rebooting your mobile modem or rooter...so in other words to stop that from happening you have to switch ON or OF your mobile device every time you didn’t liked a video or want to watch other video so Firefox will not crash your PC and so you don’t spend your monthly limit in one day...
Man...this issue has been reported so many times and I ‘’really like’’ when Firefox developers spend their time and effort on such silly things like skins and all sort of silly features but do not consider this issues as an issue and keeps focusing on more important ''things'' … I have reported this issue on Bugzilla years ago but still it hasn’t been fixed…man…I love Firefox and running upstairs every time when I decide I don’t want this video to be streaming so I can switch ON or OFF my mobile broadband modem…

  • SSL indicator disappears when page with video tag has been loaded

I have a strange bug in Firefox, that was detected when site moved to SSL.
There is single page site built on Backbone.
When page with video tag loaded SSL indicator disappears.
Firebug shows that Firefox create GET request connection to the server but it hangs.
All site logic work correctly. And video on this page works perfect, I can click play and new connection will be created and video played but first connection still hangs.
There is four page with video tag (four steps of wizard) and hanged connection appears randomly on this pages.
Actually this issue exists without SSL, but detected only when we moved to SSL and lock icon began to disappear.

The SSL indicator can disappear if there is mixed content on that page (i.e. coming via an unencrypted http connection).
Did you click the Site Identity Button (globe/padlock) and proceeded to the Security tab in Page Info?

  • Bug with flash player 9,0,115

    Hi,
I just changed my player Flash, and I updated it to the
    9,0,115.
And now I cannot watch a video on youTube, or on others video
    player (on firefox).
After 3 seconds the média stop.
Do you have an idéa why I have this trouble, and do you
have a solution to fix that.
    Thanks.
    Matt

Yes, I tryed, and I still have this problem.
I also desinstall flash player and reinstall the 9.0.45 flash
player and I have no bug.
But it's really weird to have a bug with the 115 and not with
the 45, especially for a famous web site like youTube

  • AFP 11 bug - streaming video (webcam)

    Hi,
I've updated flash player to the newest version (11), and I'm experiencing some problems with video broadcasting to websites like justin.tv or chatroulette.
The bug: when broadcasting a screen recording, or my real webcam sometimes it jumps back to earlier frame for about half a second. It's hard to explain so I made a little video:
I've created an example video with a timecode, and broadcasted it to a website, which uses adobe flash player 11:
(In the left you can see the original video, displayed in broadcasting software's preview window; and in the right, website previews my broadcast. The parts where bug appears are in slow motion, so you could see the timecode "jumping" to previous frame)
I wouldn't mind if this bug happened only in preview window, but the flash player broadcasts a buggy video, so the viewers also see this bug.
This bug did not happened in Adobe Flash Player 10, but I tried all the subversions of 11 and all of them had this bug.
I'm using windows 7, firefox. This also happens on IE 7.
P.S. In the video above, this bug happens few times in a minute, but when I use my real webcam (and I'm moving the camera or I'm moving myself) this bug happens a lot more times.

Thanks, it works in the new beta version.
However I got another problem, which is related to this one, so I'll post it here:
I don't know if this is flash player's bug or my hardware's problem, but I get horizontal lines over the video if I move camera a bit or I'm broadcasting something moving (just like this bug), so I also made a little video:
(video is in slow motion again so you could see the actual problem)
It might be my hardware's problem, because at first I didn't had it (~3 months ago), but then I had to reinstall windows, and I've had installed flash player, and this problem occured. I tried flash players 9,10,11 and all of them had this (but not before I reinstalled windows).
However when I'm on chatroulette, the other person's video doesn't have these lines, but mine does (it seems that something is wrong with streaming).
Maybe anybody knows fix for this?
