Odd Speaker Noise

This will happen A LOT. The noise is this staticy grumble that is either coming from the drive or the speakers. I have no clue why it does this.
Please help.

I have this too. It also makes R2D2/70's video game sounding blips and beeps. It happens during hard drive activity (I have the 512SSD) especially, but seems to be coming from the left speaker. Because of the frequencies it's notoriously difficult for me to establish the exact source.

    hi all,
recently bought flex-2 14 then noticed that the speaker is making noise like hisss, or static noise,
that happen when playing sound, even when the speaker is set to mute or plugging in a headphone,
after the sound had played, the noise gone. the noise came back again when playing another sound,
the noise can be heard clearly when the speakers in line/ parallel with the ears,
what really bothers me is when I mute the speaker/ plug a headphone, the noise is there,
already tried newest driver from realtek, but no luck.

  • Odd fan noises...

I've been using my Mac Pro for a few days and just started noticing some odd fan noise; almost a rattling sort of sound, like a very distant helicopter, like one of the fans is off axis. It sounds like it's one of the fans on the bottom. Anyone else noticed this sound in your Mac Pro or is this probably something that's just wrong w/ mine?

Did anyone resolve this rumbling sound. I am on the
phone to support about it, when I ran the extended
hardware test (from the installation cd 1) when the
fan was running flat out it was making a really loud
screaching sound for about 10 seconds.
I would say that screaching noice is not good could be ball berings in the Fans going
    happens from time to time
    idd get it looked at

  • First Whine or speaker noise?

My MBP week 11 is now almost two month old. No noise no problems except battery exchange and some heat. While processing a movie with toast a very loud noise started from the middle of the key board. Sounded like a jet taking off. Shut down the machine and when I restarted the noise was still there but very quiet and lasted about one minute and then when away and has not retrun.
DOES THIS SOUND LIKE THE FAMOUS WHINE OR A SPEAKER NOISE?
    Thanks
    Grump

Its not the whine, that only occurs when the
processor is idling, and from what I can make out,
the processor would certainly not be idling with what
you were doing! It wont be the speaker noise, because
the speakers are located in the grills at both sides
of the keyboard, not underneath it. The noise you are
describing is probably just the fans running at full
capacity to cool your macbook pro down during some
particularly processor intensive work, and as such
    nothing to worry about.
Thanks for the reply. The machine has been very quiet except this one time
Hope thats the last ime. Again thanks!

  • 6120c speaker noise problem

I have puchased Nokia 6120c a month before. It work fine up to my requirement and expectation.
Since last some days, it created noise in the front size speaker and sometimes mutes while listening to some caller. But when I make the volume down, it works fine.
I will be grateful if you please guide me how can be get rid of this inconvenience of speaker noise problem, and suggest me the solution.

    Which HD do you have?
    1. There is a constant noise from it and by
monitoring the fan sensors it have concluded that
they are not to blame. Altough it sounds like a fan
that is constantly on because it sounds like air
flowing inside the computer. As far as i can tell the
noise seems to be most apparent under the trackpad.
This noise is on from the moment i turn on the
    machine until i shut.
It might just be the sound of the hard drive spinning. They don't appear to ever spin down. Especially the 7200 one like I have.
    2. I belive or am imagining to my self that the
harddrive is becoming louder when writing/reading
    activity.
It not just your imagination runnin away with you. On occasions mine makes some clicks, etc. when reading or writing.
So from these two issues i tought it migh have been
the harddrive that had some fault on it, but i cant
seem to find any, the S.M.A.R.T. status is verified
and there is never any sounds which might suggest bad
    sectors on it.
I think it just may be "normal" for these drives.
    3. Every 2-3 secconds there is a faint noise from the
PowerBook and i belive that this might have something
to do with the Power as when it is not pluged into
the mains there is no sound. It sounds like a very
    quite heartbeat monitor.
    No clue what that is.

  • Freezing upon start up and odd "chirping" noise from the base of my Macbook Pro summer 2011.

Sometimes when I start up my macbook pro it freezes and I get the "thinking" icon in place of my mouse.  The only way to resolve this is to force shut down my computer.  Also, when I put pressure on the bottom of my computer to lift it up I get this odd chirping noise.

That could be the stepping motor in the hard drive making noise.  Sometimes the noise means nothing, other times it could mean a problem with the hard drive and it could fail soon.  Could be a fan out of allignment.  If you can backup your data, do so.  If you an get to an Apple genius bar, take it in and have the techs run some tests to find out what the noise is.

  • Trophy: Speaker Noise. quiet yet high pitch tone?

so i got my HTC Trophy yesterday. so today i noticed that my phone makes a quiet, yet high pitched tone when the screen is on (maybe its when it is not asleep). so i turn the screen off.. (its quiet).. turn it on (i hear the tone). unlock (unlock sound plays, and there is something a second after that). then i hear that tone again.. its kinda like the speaker is always on and there is some kind of noise. (my volume is on 7).. could be my phone. could be the OS. anyone else have this sound?

Odds are it's the hardware.  Do a reset (settings, about, reset my phone, yes, yes), and if it still happens, take the phone to the store and tell them you want it replaced under warranty.
You will lose all your data that isn't synced to the cloud, but that is a troubleshooting step they'll make you go through anyway.

  • Single Sided Speaker 'noise'

I'm struggling to see if anyone else has had this issue.
My BMP (see below for specs) has run v smoothly for the last year, with the odd issue that has been covered with applecare, nothing major, a fan that made a bit of a racket and a dodgy power supply (i guess that's not the MBP though!)
However, in the last 2 months or so, i've had one problem that has seemed to disappear and another one that has seemed to get worse.
The left side speaker creates a constant noise a bit like interference noise. Sometimes it is completely constant, sometimes it only happens just before and for a few seconds after playing some kind of audio through the MBP (a system sound or music, it doesn't matter)
It sounds just like there is an audio file playing silence on very loud if you get my drift. - just a quiet 'white noise'.
It disappears if i plug earphones in (and doesn't appear in the left earphone).
The other problem was not sleeping on shutting the lid but this seems to have disappeared since the last update patch on the system core.
anyone else have any ideas before I get the repair team to have a look.
    thanks

I don't think we can be of much help here as your problem will definitely need the attention of the repairs team. Obviously it is not a software issue and it might just be the case of the speaker unmounting and/or needing replacing. I've come across this problem in guitar amplifiers and other audio equipment and normally the problem can be traced to a faulty connector or a blown speaker, sometimes they just needed cleaning around the baffles. It's good that you've isolated this to the speaker by connecting headphones. Sorry I can't help you any further.

  • MacBook Makes odd Static noise ~NOT SPEAKERS~

I have just recently reinstalled Leopard after a hard drive error (possibly caused when I dropped it 4 feet :P), and everything was fine. But I noticed that my speakers weren't as loud as they were and they sounded kind of muffled. Then the MacBook just started making this subtle popping noise, but that stopped after a day, but now it makes this horrendous loud static noise out of no where, and *it is not the speakers* because I turn them down and it still makes the noise. The noise has stopped for now but if I try to listen to iTunes it is VERY garbled. Could this possibly have something to do with the hard drive or disc drive or any kind of hardware issue? Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Just because you turned down the speaker volume but yet can still here the static noise does not mean that it is not coming from the speakers. Since something is damaged or broken you cannot assume that turning down the speaker volume will keep an errant sound turned down also.
Since you dropped the computer from 4 feet the problem could be just about any hardware component, from the hard drive to the logic board.

  • IPod causes PC speaker noise

Brand new 5 gen. When I connect the iPod to my PC, the iPod's hard drive causes a high pitched noise on my PC speakers. As the hard drive spins up, the pitch goes higher, as it spins down, the pitch goes lower. You get the idea. The volume isn't particularly loud, but it is certainly noticable.
Adjusting the volume via the Windows Volume control or the iTunes volume control does not have any effect. I have to physically turn down the speaker volume knob on the speakers themselves to turn it down.
How can I get this to go away? Any ideas?

    OK
Solved the problem....I noticed that the ipod was appearing in the device manager but was not being initialised in IPOD updater or Itunes.
Searched knowledge base for similar ....
"iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes"
and basically followed the instructions...all is now up to date and working as before....phew..!
took me a while to get there though...hope this is of some help to others
    regards

  • IBook G4 Right Speaker Noise

I recently started hearing a noise on my iBook G4(sporadically) coming from the right speaker. It soundslike a crumpling noise like crumpling paper sort of. I am not listening to any music and the noise happens whether the speakers are on or muted because when I heard the noise and the speakers where on I muted it and the noise continued. This usually happens after it has been running a while but I have also noticed it at startup after the computer has been turned off all night. Resetting the PMU seems to make it stop for a while but only for a day or so. Has anyone else had this problem or heard about it and if so what was the fix.
Additonally I only noticed this after upgrading to 10.4.6 but when I did a reformat to 10.4.4 it continued.
    Thanks

  • Speaker noise when my mac uses wifi

So I just got a new Mac mini (actually it's refurbished, but I mean refurbished from Apple = new....:) and I notice my plug-in speaker has noise since then.  At first, I didn't know why or when the noise goes off, but now I realized it's because the wifi.  I guess it's because the frequency of the speaker and the wifi, so whenever I do anything that uses wifi, the noise goes off (i.e. load a web page, press the little wifi icon on the top... etc.).  Just wondering if there is any chance I can fix this problem.. Or I just have to get a new speaker?  'Cause this never happens when I use my windows laptop..
    Thanks!

Refurbished items that Apple sells are also covered by standard warranty. Make an appointment to an Apple store and explain the issue.

Hi abbottles and Welcome to the discussions!
There are numerous posts about clicking noises on this forum.
Answers range from the benign to the click of death. My advice would be to give Apple a call, get a case number, and go from there.
