ODI Datastore

Hi All,
In odi 10g,I created a physical and logical data servers in architecture.
Added schemas at both places.
This was done for both source and target systems.
All my databases(source and target) are oracle 10g.
I was succseefully able to reverse engineer the source tables as datastores in the data model. Some 20 datastores were created.
When I tried to reverse engineer for TARGET , I am able to see only one table (explan_plan table) in the target .
What grants am i missing ? .The schemas specified during logical schema creation were target_schema and work_schema as required.
Why are the tables not showing up in my ODI as datastores ?
Pls suggest
Rgds

Hi,
SELECT privilege is required for table reverse ( standard reverse) .. If you are using RKM then you need to have access to the data dectuionary table as well .
Make sure that iwhile reversing you do not put a filter on the table name .. this is very common misstake we do .
Thanks,
Sutirtha

  • ODI Datastore Length differs with the DB length -IKM throws value too large

ODI datastore when reverse engineered shows different length to that of the datalength in the actual db.
    ODI Datastore column details: char(44)
Target db column : varchar2(11 char)
The I$ table inserts char44 into varchar2(11char) in the target. As the source column value is empty ODI throws
"ORA-12899: value too large for column (actual: 44, maximum: 11).

Yes. I have reverse engineered the target also.
    source datatype     varchar2(11 char)
    After Reverse Engineering
    odi datstore datatype-Source :  char(44)
    target datatype: varchar2(11 char)
    after Reverse Engineering
    odi datstore datatype-Target :  char(44)
Since the target datastore is char(44) in ODI Datastore and the values in the source column are null/spaces, the IKM inserts them into the target Column which is of 11 Char and the above mentioned value too large error occurs.
There are no junk values seen on the column and I tried with substr(column,1,7) and
Trim functions too and it does not help.

  • ODI-HFM issue with decimal separator

    Hi all,
We are extracting data from an HFM application A and loading into an HFM application B.
    Example:
    Data extracted from applicaiton A = 21.742.139,55
Data loaded to application B (verified from Explore Data and Smart View) = 2.174.213.955,00
Is data loading with ODI-HFM taking the regional settings?
    Any suggestions?
If we extract data with HFM Client (logged on with the same user configured in HFM Data server) from application A and load it into application B, data is correct in application B.
    Current configuration is:
    - User preferences for HFM Application A
         * Decimal separator = ","
         * Thousands separator = "."
    - User preferences for HFM Application B
         * Decimal separator = ","
         * Thousands separator = "."
    - Regional settings of the server where the agent is running (English US)
         * Decimal separator = "."
         * Thousands separator = ","
This setting is the same for all HFM application servers
    - ODI Datastore HFMDatastore
         * Decimal separator set to "," (this setting was changed to see if solved the issue)
    - ODI Datastore for staging table

    Hello gurus,
We are testing ODI upgrade and we have an issue while reversing a data model. Its an existing sql server table and in ODI when we click on the reverse engineer ODI datastore doesnt sync with sql server DB table.
    Please help ?
    Thanks,

Thank you so much for your reply....Yes thats exactly right it is not considering the deleted columns....when i try to remove the the data store it gives me an error saying
"object column : workflow_activity_identifier is referenced by: Txt CrossRef : 12142111, Txt CrossRef : 20617111
    Cannot remove"
i think i have to edit my interfaces which is using the data store ? is there any way i can know how many interfaces are using this data store?
    Thanks for your help.

which is the best approach to synchronize database changes into ODI.
Is there any way of automate it?

  • Integrating Flat File data to LDAP Directory using sunopsis driver

    Hello
I need to import data from a csv file into a LDAP Directory.
In order to acheive this, i used Demo physical and logical File data server (called FILE_GENERIC) and set up a new LDAP data server using tutorial "Oracle Data Integrator Driver for LDAP - User's Manual".
I can manually see and update data on both file and LDAP datastores.
The fact is that i cannot manage to import/update data from the file to the LDAP directory through a dedicated interface.
The issue do, i think, come from the PK/FK used by sunopsis relational model to represent the directory.
LDAP DN is represented by a set of two table representing in my example the organizational units in one hand and the persons in the other hands, linking them through FK in persons to auto-generated PK in organization units. My person table also have a auto generated PK. All the directory datastore tables have been reversed through ODI.
In my interface, i always use my cn as update key.
I first tried not to map the person PK in the interface, letting the driver generating it for me (or mapping a null PK). I then catch in operator a message like: " null : java.sql.SQLException: Try to insert null into a non-nullable column".
Anyway, the first row is created in the directory and a new PK is given into ODI datastore. Curiously, this is not as i would presume the last PK value + 1.
There are some kinds of gaps in the ID sequences.
I even tried checking the "tolerated error" into the IKM step called "Insert new row". I'm using IKM shipped with ODI :"IKM SQL Incremental Update". The sequence is finished in operator but due, i guess, to the catched error, the other rows are not processed. (Anyway i shouldn't have to tolerate errors)
I tried after to put not used custom PK values into my file, then map the PK column to the LDAP datastore PK column without much success: Only one row is processed. Futhermore, the id of the PK in the datastore is different of the one I put in the file.
I finally tried to generate PK values through SQL instructions by creating new steps in the IKM modul but that did not worked much.
I really do not see any other ideas to either have the driver construct new PK at insert/update or to make him ignore the null PK problem and process all the rows.
If anyone do have an idea about it, please share...
    Greetings,
    Adrien

    Hi,
I am facing an issue who is probably the same.
using ODI 10.1.3.5, I can't insert new rows into my openLDAP.
One of the point I see is that the execution take the LDAP server for staging area and want to create I$ table into it, so the data are already imported into the ldap Server.
    thanks for any help.

  • Issue in reverse engineering the model source is excel

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to ODI, i am trying to export the excel file data into oracle table. For doing this created physical and logical schema for Excel file and Oracle database.
Tried to created a Model and reverse engineer the excel file to get the fields in it. But when i do them it says its done, but does not show the excel datastore in it.
Please help me to rectify it. Excel file is .xls format and ODI is standalore 11.1.1.
If you thing i have any thing please let me know the step by step procedure to export excel file to oracel table in ODI 11.1.1 version
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sandeep,
have you created a name for the range of data cells ?
Follow the steps given in this websource:
    http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2009/03/odi-series-excel-functionality.html
"So the object of this exercise is to get the information from the excel file into the above database table. To achieve this the structure of the excel file has to be reversed in the ODI datastore format but before this is done named ranges have to be created in the file, this is because the ODI excel technology works on the basis of turning named ranges into datastores."

  • Output request to file

    Hello
I have a request that generate a 127 long string that ineed to put on a file which name have to be dinamycaly generate (with three variables : company, year, period) and a time stamp.
I know it's possible to do something like that on odi but i didn't find the example on odi's documentatio.
    If someone could help me.
    Thanks

    Hi,
When you define an ODI datastore to a file, you edit the field "Resource Name" and put ODI variable there.
Just compose this ODI variable with the "string" before call the interface to write it.
    Does it help you?

  • Problem  in updating table definition in Oracle data integrator

    Hi,
I change column name in my database table but it is not reflecting in my ODI module.
it is showing me old name not new one.
Is there any way to get it fix?
    Thanks
    Kiran K

    Kiran,
ODI will not the change the column name for you in the data model. It doesnt know what you plan to do with the column that is already existing.
So, its behavior is to only add new columns (no changes and no deletes)
You will have to manually modify the column in your ODI datastore.
    Hope that helps

  • ODI File Datastore

    Hi All,
I have a confusion regarding physical and logical length in ODI file datastore.
I have a fixed width file where a col c2 had datatype as string(30).
I defined that column in datastore as string>Physical length 30 >Logical length 30
My interface failed with error as"
ORA-12899: value too large for column "S0_IDM"."C$_0S0_EAGLE_DWHCDC_CHRG_MST"."C2_CHARGE_DESC" (actual: 31, maximum: 30)"
When I increased the logical length to 255,the interface worked fine.
Physical length still being the same 30.
    How different is this?
Any help on this will be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards
    Reshma

This is not from any official documentation, but here is my take after a few moments thought
Everything you do in the ODI designer is based on the logical architecture. Only at runtime is this manifested into a physical implementation i.e. connection strings are materialized etc. When you perform an integration ODI generally creates a few temporary tables prefixed with C$, I$ etc to be able to perform the necessary data movement and transformations required to, for example, populate a target datastore (table). In your example, your flat file will be materialized into such a temporary table before its contents are manipulated (or not) and loaded to the target datastore. When ODI generates this code it is using the logical length issued in the DDL that generates the temporary table column lengths, the physical column is ignored.
Now in your scenario this is not a problem as constraints such as these do not matter to the physical version of the file i.e. if you were to write back to the file it would not matter if you wrote back 255 characters or 31. This could be a problem if you were using database tables and varying the logical vs. physical lengths but usually you reverse engineer database tables using ODI rather than doing it manually so this mitigates that.
Anyway, in short, I think the logical lengths should be taken as representing what will be manifested in the materialization of the temporary objects used to manged / transform data from the source models (C$tables) and target models (I$tables)  whereas the physical lengths indicate what the underlying physical representation of those models actually are.
EDIT: After reading a bit of documentation logical actually represents the length whereas physical is related to the number of bytes required to store the data. Therefore you could have a situation with multi-byte characters where the physical length could be greater than the logical length but not really the other way around.

  • Automating the Datastores creation using ODI SDK's in ODI 11g.

    Hi Team,
We have a requirement in which structure of the Datastores to be reverse engineered is attached in the .csv file below. Please give a solution to reverse engineer the datastores reading them from the .csv file. Also, Please find the file "ODI_SDK_MODEL_DATASTORES.groovy" in which I have created the Datastore using the ODI SDK's but datastore names are hard-coded inside the groovy script. Please use this file as a reference and re-write the code for datastore creation in such a way that it reads the datastore, column and datatype names at the runtime from the .csv file and creates the datastore dynamically.
I have attached the needed files below.
    Thanks a ton in advance!!!
    Best Regards,
    Shivesh.

I'll be very surprised if anyone will write the code for you. This is a discussion forum not a free resource for producing code. People will be willing to help point you in the right direction or help you if you hit an unusual issue. As you have done some of the work with the SDK you should be able to extend this to meet your requirements with a bit of research and trial and error.
If this is too much, it may be worth considering hiring and experienced consultant to help you with your more difficult requirements.

  • ODI: Identify every interface that used a specific datastore

    Hi all,
I work for a big company, where we have lots of ODI projects going on... I need to identify every interface that used a specific datastore..... do you guys now a easy way to do this? I am using ODI 10 and its search does not provide this king of information.
    Thanks

On the Designer tab, under Models  section, you should  be able to expand each Datastore you have, and see it's properties. One of those properties  is Uses section, where you can see where is it used  as source or a target.

  • File datastore creation problem from window installed ODI in AIX server

    HI all,
My question is how to represent file folder name of that server
my file folder in AIX server and i want to access that file in window s machine.
    * is this the right way to represent the data folder in physical schema declaration
    file:///<aix server IP>/usr/oracledi/oracldi/data

    HI Julien,
    It's really working ..........
    Thanx a lot
For other people it will be helpfull info
Only change that I have made for that task are
    1. I have created an new agent for that AIX machine
    2. I have updated the ODIPARAM.bat
    3. I have changed record separator as UNIX while creating data store for that file
    4. While executing particular interface ,I have used the agent which is local to AIX machine ..................
    Steps for execution:
At the time of designing you must have local copy of that file so that you can perform your mapping once it's executing well wid your local or no agent .
then come to the Topology manager change the location for that folder in physical schema declaration of that file server of AIX machine.
Now execute the same wid ur AIX agent u have created earlier..............
while U have changed the data store location from local directory to other AIX directory don't try to reverse the same otherwise u'll get "Execution query failed "or file not found kinda error as because odi system system searching local systems file.................
Julien can u provide me ur mail Id so that I can contact U for further assistance ofcourse
    if u want................
