OEM JAva App Issue

Dear All,
I am using 10.2.0 client software on windows 7 OS.
I am facing an issue with OEM Java Console. It is not storing database list information in OEM console.
First time I add the DB list by choosing "Add database from local tnsnames.ora" option.
When I re-open the OEM java console appliucation, NO database list is present, again i am adding the list.
Please let me know how to fix this.
Thanks,
Kods

Solution
Applies to:
Oracle Enterprise Manager - Version: 10.2 to 10.2 - Release: 10.2 to 10.2
z*OBSOLETE: Microsoft Windows Vista x64 (64-bit)
z*OBSOLETE: Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit)
Symptoms
When re-launching the Enterprise Manager (EM) Standalone Java Console, the Database Targets no longer appear.
The below steps reproduces the issues:
1. On Windows desktop, navigate to
ALL PROGRAMS > Oracle 10g Client > Enterprise Manager Console
2. Once EM Console has been launched, navigate to the top menu and select:
Navigator > Add Database to Tree 3. Select the appropriate Database Targets you wish to add.
4. The following Database Targets are now displayed.
5. Log out of the EM Console
6. Re-launch the EM Console
ALL PROGRAMS > Oracle 10g Client > Enterprise Manager Console
7. The Database Targets no longer appear in the Database Tree.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Oracle recommends that you use Grid Control or Database Control in preference to the Java Console when possible. All Java Console functionality will be migrated to Grid Control in future releases therefore functionality in the Java Console will be limited. The Java Console will no longer be available once functionality migration is complete.
Cause
On Windows Vista, the permissions on the file directories for OS authenticated users has been set with restricted access:
•<ORACLE_DB_CLIENT_HOME>/sysman/config
•<ORACLE_DB_CLIENT_HOME>/network/admin
Solution
1. Open Browser to Windows Explorer
Run > cmd > explorer
2. In the Windows Explorer, navigate to folder
<ORACLE_DB_CLIENT_HOME>/sysman

  • Java apps lock up on Windows 7 64 bit

3rd party Java apps and apps I've developed all seemed to be very buggy on one of my 64 bit windows 7 machines with JRE 1.6. I can run them in an XP VM on the same computer with no problems. Some apps lock up immediately and others it's just a matter of time before they lock up. I've searched and searched but haven't seen this issue anywhere else and don't have this problem on my 64 bit Windows 7 machine at home. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? I'm at a loss and since it's my work PC with the problem I have to test Java apps in the XP VM which is a pain.

  • "system cannot find the file specified" when launching a java app

    Hi,
we are receiving an error message saying "The system cannot find the file specified" when launching a java app on a server. Exactly the same configuration on another server does not give the same problem.
The dialog box with the error message only presents one button - OK - and after pressing the button the app continues to run normally. This however is a big problem for us as we are trying to convert the apps into system services using the wrapper (http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org).
Note: the problem exibits itself with and without the use of the wrapper.
I am not very comfortable about reinstalling the JRE on a production server. Is there any way to see what file it is missing? Debug options or something similar?
The JRE in question is 1.4.2_06. Many thanks in advance for your answers.

if not setting Post-Processing option results in a cryptic error why doesn't Adobe do one of at least three things?
    1. Don't let user click Export on Export dialog if nothing's selected for Post-Processing.
    2. Default Post-Processing to Do Nothing
    3. Give the user a hint as to what the problem is when the error occurs instead of issuing cryptic error message.
Allowing this error to persist for so long is ridiculous.

  • Multithreaded Java app calling C via JNI...need help!

I have a multithreaded Java app making a JNI call into some C code. It is a high speed imaging algorithm that I simply can't/don't want to do in Java. I am very new to JNI and I am hoping to get some expert advice on how to solve this issue. Basically, I need a seperate JNI session (if that is such a thing) per thread. In other words, I need to essentially keep state of each JNI call as it pertains to the current thread.
The 2 ideas I have thought about are:
    1. Have the native code pass the data back into java, and have the java object hold it. Then, when subsequent native calls are made, you pass the data as a paramter of the native method.
(This can be painful as it a lot of complicated and/or a lot of data.)
    2. Define some sort of a structure to hold each instance of the data on the C side, returning to java a lookup key. Subsequent native calls include the key as a paramter, and the data is looked up. ( a quick example of this would be nice).
I would appreciate any information/expereince/pains with this one.
    Thanks!

    2. Define some sort of a structure to hold each instance of the data on the C side, returning to java a lookup key. Subsequent native calls include the key as a paramter, and the data is looked up. ( a quick example of this would be nice). The lookup key, or a simple "pointer", can be returned to Java as a plain old "int" or "long" (I don't know what is the size of the pointers in your platform, if 32 or 64-bit). So you can return a "long", that can be treated by Java programs as an "opaque handle" (a pompous name for things that can't be handled adequately at the "client" side).
I assume that C/C++ allocates the memory and it remains "fixed" (untouched by garbage collection) between calls. So a real C pointer can be used in such case. If you have some smarter scheme of allocating things in your program, return another kind of lookup key (for instance, if you allocate things in fixed-size C arrays, you can return the index of the C object in the array instead of returning a plain pointer.

  • Opening a file from a java app (not applet)

My program can't find the text file I'm trying to open in my stand-alone java app. I am specifying it like this:
    File filename = new File("myfile.txt");
    FileReader = new FileReader(filename);
It is in the same directly as the class files. It won't find it when it's in a jar file either. I had a similar problem with an applet a lont time ago, but that turned out to be a security issue, which I assume normal apps don't have.
    So, what's up with this?

If system become larger, there are duplicated files
can be found in different directories.
Using classpath may cause problem, if there are
    duplicated file name.
If you are coding, you should know exact location of
    the file to be opened.
"system become larger" - huh? You control the classpath on a per-app basis, not one huge monolithic classpath containing all jars/folders for all apps.
It's common, well-designed practice to use the classpath. It's bad practice to hard-code directory names and expect all deployments of the app to follow the same directory naming convention. I wouldn't want you to dictate to me where to put the file on my hard drive. I should be able to install it anywhere I want, and let it find it (via the classpath, in this instance).

  • Can java app programmer make secure app?

I am the author of the Interactive Color Wheel. It (in various versions) has been on the web since 1998, and has been very popular. With the recent hysteria about Java security, I have observed hits fall off dramatically. While it is not commercial and I'm not losing money, the drop-off still concerns me.
So the question is, until such time as Oracle fixes it, what can I as an app programmer do to alleviate the problem?
It seems quite ironic that the java app "sandbox", which was supposed to ensure security, seems to be the very source of the current problem. As far as I know, my app:
    * uses the screen
    * accesses the mouse and keyboard
    * accesses resources within its own JAR
    It does not:
    * access the web
    * write/read cookies (or do anything else on the file system)
With these limitations, is my app even dangerous?

I'm ignorant concerning the plug-in magic that gives a Java applet a sandbox to run in which protects the rest of the computer (and the world!) from devious programmers. How I view it is the Java Run Time (JRT) does not need a browser plug-in, but the plug-in needs the JRT. That would make them two separate things. If the plug-in for Java 6 releases was safe, why cannot it be packaged with the Java 7 JRT?
Yes it was a rant -- not really at the whole world, but the journalists and supposed experts they interviewed. And certainly not directed at anyone here! I did not even know there was a problem until I allowed the JRT to upgrade last week, and my app would not run normally any more. At first I blew it off as "the installation screwed up". So I de-installed and re-installed the upgrade several times, and the security block did not go away.
So I was frustrated but not yet angry. Then during the weekend I got serous about tracing down the problem, and discovered there really was a security issue. From my first question, you can see I still did not understand, thinking that devious internet Voodoo could make my app insecure. If that were the case, how would I block the Voodoo?
Then I learned here that my applet was not in fact insecure. The press and "experts" were just telling people it (Java in general) was. I don't know what you have read, but there are some ridiculous claims being made. Not just disable Java for the time being (which the browsers are doing automatically now), but that it is inherently unsafe. Completely uninstall it and never re-install. Or the problem is so bad, it will take Oracle two years to fix. I know as a programmer those extreme claims are foolish, and I allowed that to affect me emotionally. I apologize.

  • Problem with java app.

    Hi!
I did not knew where to put this, but, here it goes:
We have purchased program based on Java (j2re1.4.2_03) and have experienced problems with running other applications like MS office or IE. The problem is that when the Java app is runing, when opening MS word it sometimes freezes. To unfreez MS word wehave to flash open and hide Java app. We and the developers are at loss. What to do?
PS: if you know the solution or there is another topic about this question pelease write the link. I could not find smoething similar in Google.

It is not problem in Word. It is not system (Win XP)
problem. We had system and word reinstalled and
nothing changed (on several computers). It shows the
same symptoms. The problem repeats when opening
Internet explorer where pages have java scripts
implemented. On word it happens ocasionally.
Is there at least some direction to point out to our
developers. Where could be the root of the problem?I am concerned that I should have to tell you what to have the developers to look at. They are the developers after all this is their problem to solve. I don't mean to be trite here but they will know more about what their program does than anyone here will. And if it is a bug in Java then they need to tell you exactly what it is.
Anyway their are two possible problem sources here I think.
    1) The program interacts with other programs in some way that is detrimental. I have no idea what this program does because you haven't said. But perhaps for example it's using some Office components in some way and making them upset. (This could also possibly explain the IE problem)
    2) The real issue is that the Java program has a bug whereby it consumes all the CPU resources on the system till such time that it is interacted with or otherwise decides to stop behaving that way. This is a bug in the code for the program. Again though other than this not much more can be said because one would have to see the code for the program. I think it's most likely the cause of your problem.
Last, yes there are bugs in Java itself that can cause problems but not generally in the matter you describe. Again though even if this should turn out to be one of those times it is up to the developers to identify this.
You need to have the developers solve this for you. This is good as blind direction is going to get I think.

  • Java app crashes after 10.6.7 update

I recently updated to 10.6.7. I have a Java app that now flat out crashes:
    * java.lang.instrument ASSERTION FAILED *: "!errorOutstanding" with message transform method call failed at ../../../src/share/instrument/JPLISAgent.c line: 806
Invalid memory access of location 0x10e800070 rip=0x10af85b6e
    Bus error
I'm wondering what I should do to either provide more information, roll back to a previous update, or what my options are.

Because I've had strange problems with past system update downloads, I now always get my system updates from http://support.apple.com/downloads/
I always use the Update Combo version. It installs a fresh set of all previous updates as well as the new one. This gives you a fresh beginning with system 10.6.x. Since I adopted that practice, I've had no more issues with updates.

  • Java Apps take forever to load

I wasn't sure where to ask this so i figured here.
I recently reformated and reinstalled Win2k on my system. Prior to the format I had no problem with Java, all apps started up in no time flat.
Now, just about any Java App (Netbeans and Azureus right now) take forever to start, upon executing the exe the program loads into memory and I can see the process there, but for about 2-3 minutes the programs will sit there and do nothing (no GUI loads). Like I said, I never had this problem before the format, and before the format my system was in worse condition than now.
I did some searching and I saw a post that sounded like the problem I had, the guy was having issues trying to get apps to start (they'd hang for him too) and I think they figured out that the problem was that IPv6 was blocked or sometihng and that java was waiting for the timeout before it tried ipv4. I don't know if this is my problem though (nor do I know how to check if it is). Any ideas on what might be causing the hang ups?
A few things. I run a virus scanner but have tried turning it off, the hang ups still occur.
I do not run a firewall so there shouldn't be anything blocking IPv6.
    As I said before I'm running Windows 2000 SP4 Update 1.
    Thanks

Well I still haven't figured it out but I did find out about the "Profiler" and ran that on azureus (and realized it was a big mistake) but did find out that the major hang up seems to be in the initial loading of stuff (I think, I could be wrong.)
The pacticular Class that had trouble starting was,
    [Loaded sun.nio.ch.PipeImpl$Initializer from C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_07\jre\lib\rt.jar]
After that loaded the program went the rest of the way fine, the output from the profiler for the main start up was:
Flat profile of 63.24 secs (36 total ticks): Main Thread
    Interpreted + native Method
    22.2% 2 + 0 java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1
    11.1% 1 + 0 java.lang.Class.getDeclaredMethods0
    11.1% 1 + 0 org.gudy.azureus2.core3.util.AEMonitor.enter
    11.1% 0 + 1 java.lang.Throwable.fillInStackTrace
    55.6% 4 + 1 Total interpreted
    Compiled + native Method
    11.1% 1 + 0 org.gudy.azureus2.core3.util.SHA1.update
    11.1% 1 + 0 org.eclipse.swt.internal.image.PngHuffmanTable.getNextValue
    11.1% 1 + 0 sun.misc.Resource.getBytes
    33.3% 3 + 0 Total compiled
    Thread-local ticks:
    75.0% 27 Blocked (of total)
    11.1% 1 Compilation
I have no idea what it means but maybe it'll help. Since I'm thinking the problem might be something internal like in windows I may just attempt another format and install and see if doing the install differently fixes the issue (might be an update or who knows what).
I did notice the "Blocked" thing, is that refering to "blocking" calls? Or to something that wasn't allowed? Is that normal?
Also, I'd try running the profiler on Netbeans and see where the hang up is on that as well (if its the PipeImpl or what), but I don't see a way to manually start Netbeans with Java so i can add a -verbose and -Xprof.

  • Downloading Java apps on N82 over GSM/Edge/3G does...

I can't download Java apps when I'm connected via any phone network connection but via WLAN I can download them fine.
I can download S60 apps fine on both type of connections.
Can anything in the phone block this?
Colleagues with other S60 phones have not experienced this so I can't imagine that the operator is blocking this on purpose at least.

so i take it this is a new issue ? you had no issues of such prior? ok try this make sure you do a full back up, make sure that your phone is up to date with the latest firmware and try the first two codes, you might have tried the first one already. the second one will erase all your data also remove your memory card if you have one.
    1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list.
    2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone
    3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is dead proceed with reflash if not, turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
re-flash - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....
