OFF-TOPIC: Should I use webservice?

Hi!
I need your opnion e expertise.
In my company, all tecnhology is based on oracle (database - forms - dad for web and some java for web too using ias).
I have also a sales force that need to run offline, soh I have to transfer data between 10 and 60 Mega bytes to the sales force once and then just updates beteen 100K and 2M.
This data contains products and customer information and now will include images.
Today I user DAD to send this data as text plain, but now I will use XML.
Wich is best? Create a webservice to send this data throught SOAP or just create the XML in DAD with web tool kit?
I´m not expert in webservice, but in this case, this does not look like a remote procedure, but just a data transfer...
What do you think?

While the money is good, you're still young & can easily make the same if not more elsewhere. The company doesn't look worth it, judging from their attitude.
You didn't mention if you're certified or not? At the end of the day, it also depends on what you want to do. Do you seriously want to be an Oracle DBA?
Whatever your career choice in IT, don't look only at the money... look for a good environment where you will learn & grow. The money will follow automatically.
You can also try in Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar... which are far better countries to work in.
Reading about your situation, I wouldn't transfer to the company visa.
The rest is up to you.

Little off-topic: Should I wait with buying new MacBook?

As U C I'm typing this on a PC. I would like to buy a MacBook, but I'm not sure if it's the right time.
A Leopard is expected to arrive in October and maybe an iLife '08 will be included with MacBooks. On other hand I can get a MacBook 10% cheaper now. Don't know what to choose...
I've heard rumors of a new MacBooks coming late '07. How sure is that? Is it worth to wait even longer?

Nobody here can answer that question for you, as your computing needs and budget are different than everyone else's. If you need a computer now then buy, otherwise if you keep waiting for the next best thing, you'll always be waiting.

Slightly off topic --- should i give transfer to my company

Hey every1...i need some suggestions from u people....
I work in here in riyadh (Saudia Arabia)....during the interview process for the company where i am working ryt now..... i was told that as an oracle guy u will be dealing with transfer of company's complete DB in MS-Access and SQL server 2000 to oracle 10g......n was told that i would be provided training in forms and report 6i.....
But two days after a I joined i was told that i wont be provided any kind of training and i have to learn forms and report 6i on my own.....i was complete dumb struck did not know what to do...again after one week i was told by my manager not to do the learning work during office hour instead do it home and start implementing i.e start building applications in forms 6i......BOOOOMMB!!!!!!....initially i struggled a lot for making this applications but some how did it with the help of OTN...
when i asked them about the core DBA work ...i was told no need for that thing now..at present give ur time in building applications...after few motnhs all different kind of things ...if i said them i dont how to do any thing..the management replied back by saying ..UR AN IT GUY N U SHUD DO IT .....
Its been around 8 months in these company...and now they are asking for transfer of SPONRSHIP(*Its a process where u transfer ur residence permit to company where u work* for) but the people who already transferred their residence permit to the company where i m working are suggesting not to transfer my residence permit to this company bcoz once i transfer they wont give me the NOC to search for jobs in other companies in ur near future....
the salary is good around 1 lac indian rupess per month (8500 SAR)...but in terms of learning n looking at future i dont find it to be good....
my age is 23 will turning 24 this OCT.....
I would really be glad if u people could help me with some suggestions to transfer my residence or to look for other jobs here in Saudi Arabia

Why should we use WSDL for developing webservices

I need to develop Webservice Application for our Client .
I dont know anything about WSDL4J

i seriously doubt you want to use wsdl4j unless you are doing really advanced webservice work. assuming you are developing this webservice from scratch, you basically want to use JAXWS: define an appropriate interface and your value classes, and let JAXWS do the rest. metro is the JAXWS implementation included in the oracle jdk and it has great tutorials and reference documentation online. i'd suggest you start here: http://metro.java.net/getting-started/

WebAssist Cart help? I know it's off topic but... Could really use some help...

I've got a shopping cart that is working and I'm trying to update the
quantities in inventory by subtracting the quantity ordered from the total
inventory in a table called ITEMS.
I can update a record after a sale in the cart, but right now it is
updating by completely replacing the value of the items in inventory with
the quantity in the checkout cart. So, if there are 800 items, after the
update, there are -1 total in inventory, not 799.
The problem is that I don't know how to coordinate the item(s) in the stored
shopping cart with a call to their ID and quantity in the online database.

Although could be, it's not that, I've heard this same song once in a trip to Italy on the TV on a commercial too. This is really driving me insane, they use some great music for some of this profiles like the one they did on 2x4.

Should Wireless Router be turned off when not in use?

I successfully installed the Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router Model WRT54G. It was very easy.
I notice that it now appears to be "on" all the time, and I use my home PC & Laptop perhaps up to about only 2 hours a day. Should I be turning it off when not in use? Is it a potential security risk to always have it on? If I do turn it off, is the only way to unplug the power adapter? I can not locate any on/off button on the router.

You said your router was "very easy" to set up. I hope that this does not mean that you skipped setting up security. If your wireless router is not secured, having it on or using it is a security risk. If your router is secured, then it is OK to leave it on 24/7.
If your wireless is not secured, anyone in the area can log into your router and use your DSL line. At a minimum, this wastes your bandwidth. At a maximum, someone could send spam, visit child porn sites, distribute viruses, and give away copyrighted music --- all from a DSL account with your name on it!    Additionally, if your router is not secured, others can see what you are doing on the net, including seeing your bank account numbers, passwords, and credit card numbers. So my advice is ... secure your system.
In order to keep intruders off of your wireless system, you need to enable wireless security. To do this, pick an SSID and don't broadcast it. Encrypt your wireless system using the highest level of encryption that all of your wireless devices will support. Common encryption methods are:
WEP - poor  (see note below)
WPA - good
WPA2 - best
WPA and WPA2 sometimes come in versions of "personal" and "enterprise".   Most home users should use "personal". Also, if you have a choice between AES and TKIP, and your wireless equipment is capable of both, choose AES.
The wireless devices (computers, printers, etc.) that you have will need to be set up with the SSID, encryption method, and passwords that match those you entered in the router.
For additional security, on many routers, you can limit wireless access to just the MAC addresses of the wireless devices that you own. If possible, you should definitely use this feature.
And don't forget to give your router a new login password.
Also, when you pick your login password, SSID, and encryption key (or password or passphrase) you should use a random combination of capital letters, small letters, and numbers. An SSID, or a login password, should be 12 characters or more.  WPA and WPA2 passwords should be at least 32 characters.
Note below: Recently the FBI demonstrated that WEP can be broken in under 5 minutes using standard, internet available, cracking tools. This suggests that virtually all wireless users should upgrade their wireless equipment to WPA or better.

What happens when you try to buy/download an app, do you get any error messages ?
If you are getting a 'not in this store' message then try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your iPhone and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select your country.
If it's a different problem ... ?

If you're not currently involved with a web service project that is using a particular server (e.g., WebSphere, WebLogic, etc.), I suggest starting with Axis. Apache software tends to be adopted by other vendors as a basis for their products. Also, the Axis mailing lists are very active and you're more likely to get your questions answered quickly. Once you're comfortable with Axis, it's probably worthwhile to download the evaluation version of WebSphere or WebLogic to learn how to deploy web services on a commercial platform.
