Office 2013 latest update broke new profile creation on all network computers

Hi,
Reporting a bug here!
Setup details:
We're using samba 3 as our backend and all workstation are Windows 7 Pro x64.
Office 2013 Home and Business Retail (en-us) Click 2 Run version
Context:
Deployed to the whole network of one of our client using the Office Deployement Tool.
We update their base update (no updates) to the latest update 15.0.4569.1508
Everything was working alright after initial Office 2013 installation with no updates. After updating the all the PCs to the latest version as of 31/03/2014, the user profile creation broke for newly created user.
Symptoms and causes:
Trying to log on as a new user on the machine would give the following error on Logon before automatically loging off because it cannot copy the following file to the new user profile:
D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_00.sqm
D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm
D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_02.sqm
The Bici folder has Read and Execute permissions for everyone but the _XX.sqm files inside only have permissions (Full Control) for SYSTEM and Administrators and LOCAL SERVICE with the all permissions EXCEPT:
- FULL CONTROL
- TRAVERSE FOLDERS/EXECUTE FILES
- CHANGE PERMISSIONS
- TAKE OWNERSHIP
Solution:
I gave "everyone" Read and Execute permission on those files and the new user could log in and his profile got created alright.
The files with broken permissions time stamp shows they've been modified during the Office 2013 update and Bici seems to be a OneDrive related service. This bug should get fixed ASAP.
Event log error:
Windows cannot copy file \\?\D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm to location \\?\D:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.

  • Can I sync Office 2013 Home premium Outlook calendar and contacts across all my computers without using Hotmail account

I don't want to use a Hotmail account to do this.
    Is it possible?
The licence is for 5 PC's but seems to have no sync ability.

I just went to Windows 8.1 and I purchased Office 365 home premium for 5 PCs or Macs and 5 mobile devices. No where in the page or the "learn more info" did it say it would not sync up with iPhones and iPads. I am concerned I wasted my money because
I truly wanted to have Outlook on my iPhone and Ipad. There is an OWA for iPad and Iphone available but I have deducted that it needs Microsoft Exchange which is not included in the home premium version of office365. I am not sure what good it does to advertise
syncing with mobile devices when it truly will not sync up. Is this True?
For $100/year, you would think exchange could be included so these syncing issues would not be a problem. I do not want to keep up with more email accounts just to make it work with Microsoft.
I am trying to keep things simple. I do use iPhones and Ipads, and based on the advertising for office 365 all my current issues would be seamlessly fixed by going this route. I'm afraid not unless someone can give me the simple solution that does not
require a PHd in computer saavy. I am not a rookie, but after 4 hours of trying everything I know to make it work, I just could not do it through my new office365 software or the apps for Iphone or Ipad. In addition, there were conflicting answers and
responses from Microsoft when I called or chatted with their support people.
BTW, I did download iCloud onto my new laptop and it knew that it was not syncing with Outlook and immediately asked if I wanted to fix. Downloaded the fix, restarted system, and calendar and contacts immediately synced up on my apple devices and my
    new computer.
The funny thing is that I still cannot get Office365 to sync with the windows 8.1 calendar or contacts app on the start page using my POP email account that I have had for many years. I also think it needs exchange. Please provide some guidance
    here.
I'm trying not to be difficult but am looking for the software to work as advertised so I can stick with all office products. If not, just give me a refund and I will buy a stand alone version for my PC and sync up with Apple apps which work well and
are much less expensive. Thanks for your assistance.

  • How can I know about the latest updates / versions which when available for all the CC products, without having to install and check it with the Desktoip Creative Cloud Application ?

How can I know about the latest updates / versions which when available for all the CC products, without having to install and check it with the Desktoip Creative Cloud Application ?

Thanks for looking into this Jeff!
I work with an Inventory module software and is responsible for software detection across several computers. Once an updated version comes up, I update our database with latest software details to get it detected if installed on any machines.
    The problem tracking updates with Desktop Creative Cloud Software are;
1)We have to have it installed with the CC applications in-order to get the notification of the latest updates and have to check everyday.
2)Only relates to the latest updates, so in-between we may miss a prior update unknowingly.Hence, the remote machines having those updates may not get  detected with the software version update which would create problem in reporting.
3)For all CC products, there is no base or previous updates available for installation if we miss one.
I went through the Adobe Products Update pages [Product updates] which holds good when it comes to Acrobat and Reader software which I follow to track down any newer updates but this is inconsistent when it comes to CC products like in After Effects CC, Dreamweaver CC etc...
So overall to be very specific, is there any one channel I can follow to get the notifications only for the updates on CC products and then may be I can rely on Desktop Creative Cloud for installation if not available anywhere like in product update pages of Adobe ?

  • How to force Office 2013 CTR update regularly

We are using around 60 PKC licenses of Office 2013 which came in CTR format (we don't have any Office 365 subscription, these licenses came with the new computers). CTR can't be managed via WSUS and it usually updates itself once or two per month (ideally).
But we have noticed that many clients are not updating regularly. Actually some are stuck on January builds. When you go to such PC it shows that Update is ready. Why it doesn't update automatically? Is the PC has to be idle for some time? Then it is a bad
design as our employees usually do not slack around half a day and work with Office all the time. How can i force CTR versions to update? Other than going to every machine and pressing Update now or asking users to do so.
Digging about this i have stumbled upon a blog post about Office Deployment Tool which came out recently (version 1, 2014.05.06). http://blogs.technet.com/b/odsupport/archive/2013/06/19/using-the-office-deployment-tool.aspx Can it provide a way to force
updates or is it just a way to keep updates on a local share to save the bandwidth? Will the scheduled task behave the same in this scenario and wait for months to update?
Also, it looks like ODT download page is broken, nothing happens http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36778&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=True

    Hi,
The Click-to-Run for Office 365 Configuration.xml file is used to specify Click-to-Run installation and update options.
You can specifies attributes for configuring updates in the xml file, If
Enabled is set to TRUE, the Click-to-Run update system will check for updates automatically.
If UpdatePath is set to empty (""), updates are obtained from the Microsoft Click-to-Run source, CDN. Not from a local server:
    <Updates
    Enabled=TRUE | FALSE
    UpdatePath=UNC | local | http path
    TargetVersion=X.Y.Z.W
    Deadline=MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM
    />

    Download link for ODT:

  • Can not reply email in Office 2013 when updating Server Pack 1

    Dear All,
My company using office 2013 Pro and Google Apps Email. We can use send/receive normally. But when I updated Office to Office 2013 to SP1, it happened one problem when I reply mail.
"The operation failed. The messaging interface have returned an unknown error, If the Problem persists, restart Outlook" that is a message I received from outlook. When I check update in control panel I see one package update for
Microsoft Outlook "Update for Microsoft Outlook 2013 (KB2863911) 32-Bit Edition". When I remove this update package it is normal. I don't know the reason why, everybody can help me to resolve this issue.
Note: It is Ok with Office 365, and other mail... excluded Gmail.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay. Do you mean the problem was fixed after you removed KB2863911? I haven't heard such issue when installing KB2863911.
Does this issue happen to all users in your organization? Please try to recreate your mail profile to check if it helps. For your convenience:

  • Deploy Office 2013 ProPlus Updates SCCM App-V

    Hi,
I'm trying App-V and building the Office 2013 Pro Plus package worked fine, and to stop slow starting of applications I am (at the moment) looking at deploying App-V packages to stations during OSD in SCCM 2012 R2.  Deploying the applications is working
great this way, except I can't find any information on how to deploy office updates to the App-V packages as they are released.
Usually with Office deployed the traditional way office updates are deployed through Software updates in SCCM.  But this doesn't happen when Office is deployed as an App-V package.  I don't really want to "stream" the packages to the
internal stations.  Is there a way to automatically send out the updates to update the App-V office package that has been deployed to stations using the Install Application step of an SCCM OSD Task Sequence?  (Preferably Automated).
    Thanks,
    Andy

As stated, you just have to generate and deploy a new Office package. Thankfully the client is clever enough to only stream down the blocks that have changed so you don't have to wait for users to re-download the entire package in order to apply the update!
Deploying Office as App-V is fine... until you come across an application that integrates with Office but is incompatible with App-V. Also managing plugins with connection groups is difficult. I always recommend deploying Office locally unless you have good
    reasons to do otherwise.

  • Office 2013 C2R Update Scheduled Task does not work

    Hi all.
I am having difficulty getting network deployed updates to work correctly. I installed and older version of Office 2013 with the ODT from a network share and set the update path. I then downloaded an update via ODT.
The issue is the scheduled task does not update office. If I trigger or manually run from a command prompt "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection modeargs reschedulemode tasktrigger
scheduledtask updateuitype background” from Task Scheduler nothing seems to happen. Monitoring Task Manager it looks like integratedoffice is called albeit very briefly.
But, if I run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection background” from a command prompt Office updates, but if I edit the Scheduled Task to above Office does not update if the
    task is triggered.
As Office can update if the right command is given it would appear that my config.xml etc is correct. Any ideas on why the Scheduled Task does not work?
    Cheers
    Jakes

What permissions are set on the location of the updates ? C2R currently needs permissions granted for machine accounts as it runs under that context. This will change at some point that C2R gets updated.

  • Office 2013 SP1 update on client no longer allows connection to Office Telemetry Database

I have just updated my machine with Office 2013 SP1 and have found that I can no longer connect to the Office Telemetry Database. It fails with a Database Connection Failure. The database needs to be updated.
I can connect fine from the server locally so just wondering if someone can confirm that the telemetry server needs updated to SP1 before it will allow my machine to connect?
    Thanks

    Hi,
We haven't heard such report after Office 2013 SP1 released. We will monitor on this problem and we will let you know if we found that the problem was caused by SP1. Meanwhile, we can try to uninstall SP1 to see if the problem persists.

  • Patching Office 2013 multilanguage - updates to be applied

    Hi,
I deployed Office 2013 Std English with a list of Language Packs (german, italian, spanish, ...). To make the deployment, I created an administrative share with the suite (english version) and added several folders extracted fron Language Pack iso (the iso
is named "Office Multilanguage Pack 2013 w Proofing Tools (All Languages)"). The deployment worked fine: now users can select English or other languages for the interface, the guide and the proofing tools.
Now, I have to update for my deployed Office 2013 suites. I configure WSUS to download updates for Office 2013, but my question is: I can download only the english version for updates, or I have to configure WSUS also to download updates for Office
in the languages I added to the suite?
    Thanks in advance.
    Roberto

Always include English in addition to any other languages that are required throughout your organization.
All updates are based on English language packs.
    The recommended practice by Microsoft
    is as below:
    Plan for WSUS Update Languages
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh328568(v=ws.10).aspx
Choose a Type of WSUS Deployment
    http://technet.microsoft.com/us-en/library/cc720448(v=ws.10).aspx
Using the WSUS 3.0 Configuration Wizard
    http://technet.microsoft.com/us-en/library/cc720475(v=ws.10).aspx
    Hope this helps.

  • Latest update broke pdf reading in scripts?

I use a lot of datasheet catalogs and such and most of them use scripts to load pdf data sheets, however after the latest update I can't open them, I either get a error 130:103 or something like that (gotten it a few times) that tells me to turn off adobe if it is running, or I just get a blank/black page or a blue loading bar that stops at 100% (full bar).
I'm using Win7 with latest updates, I've tried removing and reinstalling adobe reader, the reader works without issues on normal pdf on my computer (not thrilled over the new design to be honest), the sites work as I have no problem with the exact same pdf on Linux, it worked without any issue until last update.
Any idea how I can fix this problem?

Should add, half a solution is changing the browser to load the normal adobe reader and not adobe in firefox, works for now but really annoying with multiple windows up instead of tabs.

  • Messages are incorrectly positioned inside IM chat window (after Office 2013 SP1 update)

    Hi,
After installing Office 2013 SP1 today (Lync desktop 2013 client version updated to 15.0.4569.1506), messages inside Lync's chat windows are positioned in a wrong way when using DPI of 125% in Winodws 8.1.
Can anyone else confirm this and/or suggest a solution? We cannot unistall SP1 since we're using Click-to-Run version from O365.

Can you try re-sizing the Lync IM window's width as small as possible? I have the issue due to long name, haven't tried playing with DPI.

  • Office 2013 Startup Problem with NEW Win 8.1 Install and no prior Office Version

Although I have seen similar threads on the forum, they all seem to address a different scenario.
    My environment is as follows:
Intel MotherBoard with I07 max processor
    64GB RAM
512 GB SSD Boot drive on which Windows 8.1 was installed as first and only O/S.  It was validated
4TB HDD on which User directory and programs installed (those which permit drive selection in startup)
    4TB data drive.
Machine was built from scratch with Win 8.1 Pro plus Media Center
Office 2013 Pro Plus was installed and validated
Machine is running in an MS AD Domain whose PDC is running on Win Server 2008 R2
User is a member of Enterpise and Domain Admin group
    HERE'S THE PROBLEM,
Any Office 2013 Pro Plus application (Not Just Oulook) goes through the configuration step EACH time it is launched.

    Hi,
Try repairing Office in Control Panel -> Programs and Features, check the result.
    You can also try this:
Go to the install folder, such as C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15, find the .exe file for the application, let's take Word for example, WINWORD.EXE, right click on it, send the shortcut to Desktop, right click the
shortcut -> Properties -> Shortcut -> Advanced -> Check "Run as administrator" -> OK -> OK.
Start Word from the shortcut, you may need to go through the process again, reboot the computer, check if it will show up again when you start Word. If the problem doesn't exist any more, do the same to other Office applications.
