Office 2013 SP1 update on client no longer allows connection to Office Telemetry Database

I have just updated my machine with Office 2013 SP1 and have found that I can no longer connect to the Office Telemetry Database. It fails with a Database Connection Failure. The database needs to be updated.
I can connect fine from the server locally so just wondering if someone can confirm that the telemetry server needs updated to SP1 before it will allow my machine to connect?
Thanks

Hi,
We haven't heard such report after Office 2013 SP1 released. We will monitor on this problem and we will let you know if we found that the problem was caused by SP1. Meanwhile, we can try to uninstall SP1 to see if the problem persists.

  • Messages are incorrectly positioned inside IM chat window (after Office 2013 SP1 update)

    Hi,
After installing Office 2013 SP1 today (Lync desktop 2013 client version updated to 15.0.4569.1506), messages inside Lync's chat windows are positioned in a wrong way when using DPI of 125% in Winodws 8.1.
Can anyone else confirm this and/or suggest a solution? We cannot unistall SP1 since we're using Click-to-Run version from O365.

Can you try re-sizing the Lync IM window's width as small as possible? I have the issue due to long name, haven't tried playing with DPI.

  • Unable to restart the Microsoft Software Protection Platform service from command line - Win81 MS Office 2013 SP1

I'm unable to restart the Microsoft Software Protection Platform service on a Windows 8.1 laptop for MS Office 2013 SP1 (32-bit) using the following command:
    cscript ospp.vbs /osppsvcrestart (issued from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15)
When this is run, a window appears with the title ospp.vbs and the text "Error: The Software Protection Platform service is not installed"
I verified that the service is installed in services.msc, and was able to manually stop and restart the SPP service in the Services console without issue.
The command runs correctly when restarting the MS Office 2013 SPP on Windows 7 devices.
Has anyone else seen this or have a solution for it?
The reason that I am attempting to restart the service from the command line is because this command is part of a script to change the KMS server IP Address used by OSPP prior to software activation.
The only other options that I have at this time is to ask the users to reboot, or manually force a reboot.  This is both time consuming and disruptive to the users.
The Fix It tool to remove MS Office 2013 was run, and the MS Office 2013 software was successfully reinstalled after a reboot.  The software was successfully activated.  When the command was run, it produced the same exact error.

    Hi,
I am able to reproduce this on my own machine, but in my case, I don't see the specific service running in the Services console.
I would like first confirm that whether you've the right service running on your Windows 8.1 system. The display name of this service should be "Office Software Protection Platform", service name is "osppsvc".
You can also check this by going to below path where you should see the executable file (OSPPSVC.EXE) if the service is installed on your system (in my case, the folder is empty):
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform

  • Office 2013 C2R Update Scheduled Task does not work

    Hi all.
I am having difficulty getting network deployed updates to work correctly. I installed and older version of Office 2013 with the ODT from a network share and set the update path. I then downloaded an update via ODT.
The issue is the scheduled task does not update office. If I trigger or manually run from a command prompt "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection modeargs reschedulemode tasktrigger
scheduledtask updateuitype background” from Task Scheduler nothing seems to happen. Monitoring Task Manager it looks like integratedoffice is called albeit very briefly.
But, if I run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection background” from a command prompt Office updates, but if I edit the Scheduled Task to above Office does not update if the
    task is triggered.
As Office can update if the right command is given it would appear that my config.xml etc is correct. Any ideas on why the Scheduled Task does not work?
    Cheers
    Jakes

What permissions are set on the location of the updates ? C2R currently needs permissions granted for machine accounts as it runs under that context. This will change at some point that C2R gets updated.

  • Office 2013 latest update broke new profile creation on all network computers

    Hi,
    Reporting a bug here!
    Setup details:
We're using samba 3 as our backend and all workstation are Windows 7 Pro x64.
Office 2013 Home and Business Retail (en-us) Click 2 Run version
    Context:
Deployed to the whole network of one of our client using the Office Deployement Tool.
We update their base update (no updates) to the latest update 15.0.4569.1508
Everything was working alright after initial Office 2013 installation with no updates. After updating the all the PCs to the latest version as of 31/03/2014, the user profile creation broke for newly created user.
    Symptoms and causes:
Trying to log on as a new user on the machine would give the following error on Logon before automatically loging off because it cannot copy the following file to the new user profile:
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_00.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_02.sqm
The Bici folder has Read and Execute permissions for everyone but the _XX.sqm files inside only have permissions (Full Control) for SYSTEM and Administrators and LOCAL SERVICE with the all permissions EXCEPT:
    - FULL CONTROL
    - TRAVERSE FOLDERS/EXECUTE FILES
    - CHANGE PERMISSIONS
    - TAKE OWNERSHIP
    Solution:
I gave "everyone" Read and Execute permission on those files and the new user could log in and his profile got created alright.
The files with broken permissions time stamp shows they've been modified during the Office 2013 update and Bici seems to be a OneDrive related service. This bug should get fixed ASAP.
    Event log error:
Windows cannot copy file \\?\D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm to location \\?\D:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.

  • How to force Office 2013 CTR update regularly

We are using around 60 PKC licenses of Office 2013 which came in CTR format (we don't have any Office 365 subscription, these licenses came with the new computers). CTR can't be managed via WSUS and it usually updates itself once or two per month (ideally).
But we have noticed that many clients are not updating regularly. Actually some are stuck on January builds. When you go to such PC it shows that Update is ready. Why it doesn't update automatically? Is the PC has to be idle for some time? Then it is a bad
design as our employees usually do not slack around half a day and work with Office all the time. How can i force CTR versions to update? Other than going to every machine and pressing Update now or asking users to do so.
Digging about this i have stumbled upon a blog post about Office Deployment Tool which came out recently (version 1, 2014.05.06). http://blogs.technet.com/b/odsupport/archive/2013/06/19/using-the-office-deployment-tool.aspx Can it provide a way to force
updates or is it just a way to keep updates on a local share to save the bandwidth? Will the scheduled task behave the same in this scenario and wait for months to update?
Also, it looks like ODT download page is broken, nothing happens http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36778&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=True

    Hi,
The Click-to-Run for Office 365 Configuration.xml file is used to specify Click-to-Run installation and update options.
You can specifies attributes for configuring updates in the xml file, If
Enabled is set to TRUE, the Click-to-Run update system will check for updates automatically.
If UpdatePath is set to empty (""), updates are obtained from the Microsoft Click-to-Run source, CDN. Not from a local server:
    <Updates
    Enabled=TRUE | FALSE
    UpdatePath=UNC | local | http path
    TargetVersion=X.Y.Z.W
    Deadline=MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM
    />

    Dear All,
My company using office 2013 Pro and Google Apps Email. We can use send/receive normally. But when I updated Office to Office 2013 to SP1, it happened one problem when I reply mail.
"The operation failed. The messaging interface have returned an unknown error, If the Problem persists, restart Outlook" that is a message I received from outlook. When I check update in control panel I see one package update for
Microsoft Outlook "Update for Microsoft Outlook 2013 (KB2863911) 32-Bit Edition". When I remove this update package it is normal. I don't know the reason why, everybody can help me to resolve this issue.
Note: It is Ok with Office 365, and other mail... excluded Gmail.

  • Deploy Office 2013 ProPlus Updates SCCM App-V

    Hi,
I'm trying App-V and building the Office 2013 Pro Plus package worked fine, and to stop slow starting of applications I am (at the moment) looking at deploying App-V packages to stations during OSD in SCCM 2012 R2.  Deploying the applications is working
great this way, except I can't find any information on how to deploy office updates to the App-V packages as they are released.
Usually with Office deployed the traditional way office updates are deployed through Software updates in SCCM.  But this doesn't happen when Office is deployed as an App-V package.  I don't really want to "stream" the packages to the
internal stations.  Is there a way to automatically send out the updates to update the App-V office package that has been deployed to stations using the Install Application step of an SCCM OSD Task Sequence?  (Preferably Automated).
    Thanks,
    Andy

As stated, you just have to generate and deploy a new Office package. Thankfully the client is clever enough to only stream down the blocks that have changed so you don't have to wait for users to re-download the entire package in order to apply the update!
Deploying Office as App-V is fine... until you come across an application that integrates with Office but is incompatible with App-V. Also managing plugins with connection groups is difficult. I always recommend deploying Office locally unless you have good
    reasons to do otherwise.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 displaying users that no longer exist

I'm currently in the process of migrating my Exchange 2010 SP3 environment over to 2013 SP1 and am hoping someone can give me a hand with an issue I'm having in Exchange 2013.  After installation of 2013 with no errors returned, when I log in to the
admin console I'm seeing users that have been deleted from my AD for quite some time with a mailbox type of "Legacy".  I've searched high and low to find these accounts and cannot find them anywhere.  I've searched through ADSI Edit and
LDP and nothing.  If I click on any of these users and choose to edit I get this error message:
The operation couldn't be performed because object 'GUID' couldn't be found on 'domain controller'.
The odd thing to me is that these "Legacy" users are nowhere to be found on my Exchange 2010 server.
Anyone have any other ideas of how and where I may be able to find these users?

  • Mail x64 Control Panel Broken, Can't Install Office 2013 SP1 to Fix It - HELP NEEDED

I have the dreaded broken Mail x64 Control Panel that doesn't work after installing Office 2013 Home and Business on a Windows 8.1 Pro computer.  This was a fresh installation, yet Microsoft still has an ancient disk image on their Office.com website
for download.  The version is 15.0.4433.1507.  It's from 2012!  I don't understand the purpose of having people download something if you are not even going to keep it up to date, and have them download programs which you know are broken.
    Strike 1.
Another thread said to update Office 2013.  Easier said than done.  Windows Update won't do it, even if Windows Update is manually told to search for updates.  Strike 2.
Another thread said to disable updates inside an office program (File, Account, Update Options).  Then Enable it, and updating should start immediately.  Nope.  Strike 3.
Same thread said if the above didn't work, to go to Uninstall Programs, and run a Repair of Office 2013.  Did that, and then it wanted the Product Key again.  Gave it the product key, it put a green check mark next to it signifying it was good,
and then when I clicked next, it said it couldn't activate it.  I clicked the Repair button, and the program closed.  Strike 4.
I uninstalled, and reinstalled Office 2013.  I downloaded the Office 2013 Service Pack 1 x64, and ran it.  It gives the error message "There are no products affected by this package installed on the system".  How could that be?
Article ID 2850036 says specifically that it applies to "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013".  Since when can't you install Service Packs? Strike 5.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
The issue may occur if the registry entries are corrupted or missing. Usually, repair the Office suite from control panel can fix the issue.
For your case, I would suggest you to run Microsoft Fix It tool (or follow the
manual steps listed in follow article
) to uninstall Office 2013 completely from your computer, then do a re-installation and verify the result:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us
If you are able to login to
www.office.com/myaccount, then you can get the latest Office installation file there.

  • Patching Office 2013 multilanguage - updates to be applied

    Hi,
I deployed Office 2013 Std English with a list of Language Packs (german, italian, spanish, ...). To make the deployment, I created an administrative share with the suite (english version) and added several folders extracted fron Language Pack iso (the iso
is named "Office Multilanguage Pack 2013 w Proofing Tools (All Languages)"). The deployment worked fine: now users can select English or other languages for the interface, the guide and the proofing tools.
Now, I have to update for my deployed Office 2013 suites. I configure WSUS to download updates for Office 2013, but my question is: I can download only the english version for updates, or I have to configure WSUS also to download updates for Office
in the languages I added to the suite?
    Thanks in advance.
    Roberto

Always include English in addition to any other languages that are required throughout your organization.
All updates are based on English language packs.
    The recommended practice by Microsoft
    is as below:
    Plan for WSUS Update Languages
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh328568(v=ws.10).aspx
Choose a Type of WSUS Deployment
    http://technet.microsoft.com/us-en/library/cc720448(v=ws.10).aspx
Using the WSUS 3.0 Configuration Wizard

  • Office 2013 SP1 fails with code 17302 - SCCM 2007 R2

    Hi,
I am trying to deploy Office 2013, along with SP1, in the following order:
    1. Prompt to close all office apps and continue (vbs)
    2. Installation of Office 2013, using modified msp.
    3. Restart
    4. Installation of SP1 with command line /passive /norestart.
I am doing this all through a package I created in SCCM 2007 R2.
The first few programs works well. However, when the installation of SP1 starts, SCCM launches the program, then SP1 fails with code 17302.
Manual installation, through command prompt, with the same switches works fine.
The error is only when remotely deploying.
The system is Windows 7 X86 with latest SP.
    Please help!

    Hi,
Have you checked the log file? Does it say anything there? Also, where is the SP1 installation file stored? Since this only happens while remotely deploying, check the network or the setting of your filewall.
By the way, you can slipstream Service Pack 1 with your Office 2013 installation media, Office 2013 will be directly installed at Service Pack 1 level, saving you the trouble of applying it afterwards. For the details, please refer to this article:

If I restore down the Window it seems to remove a white outer bar and then works as intended, even if I manually click and drag more or less to the same size of the maximised window. I believe this may be due to the Office 2013 shadow. In GPO I have:
