Office 365 and On Premise Active Directory Synchronisation

Hi everyone,
I'd really appreciate some advice about Office 365 and Active directory synchronisation.
We are a new business and to begin with started with a simple workgroup scenario with some office 365 mid-size business Office 365 Licenses.
We are now at the stage where we want to deploy active directory and I have some concerns about how we can set this up to use with our existing Office 365 setup.
From what I understand you can set up a link between AD and Office 365 (or hosted exchange) using ADFS or DirSync and Password sync however this all seems based on moving from On premise exchange to cloud based and not the other way around. Has anyone any
advise on how to setup the link/synchronisation between Office 365 and our new AD that we are deploying?
Many thanks in advance.
Alex.

  • How to use same credentials in third party web page/app/system as in Office 365 and Share Point?

I want my users to be able to login with same username/password in my reporting system as in they use for their email, office 365 and share point.
Since the web is in PHP i found some ideas that use CURL to get the cookie but i['m wondering if there is another way to do that?
All API show cases and docs that i looked are so confusing that i can't even figure out if it is possible at all and how. It would be great to be able to reset passwords through my system and also to create new users. So that i have all centralized in one

    Hello,
Your account shows that you were attempting to call a Lithuania cellphone. Your free minutes are for calls to landlines only. To call cellphones you need to purchase Skype Credit.

    Hi,
The Office 365 forums are over on a different site:

    The
Directory integration services forum is probably a good starting point over there.

  • Outlook 2013 with Office 365 and Google Apps Sync.

This is the scenario, hopefully somebody can give me some insight on how to resolve this.
Outlook 2013 with gapps. Both updated.
Outlook profile with an office 365 email account (which is as an exchange account) and google apps with our main account.
We installed an office 365 account since its the only way that several users can share and edit the same contacts on Outlook. They use almost all contact fields.
Gapps its the main email address and calendar. Shared calendars are deeply used too.
The problem is that when I edit a contact (the exchange account) I get an error -when- I edit the email field.
"The operation failed. The messaging interfaces returned an unknown error."
If I make a new Outlook profile with the exchange account and the gapps account via imap setup I get not errors BUT I loose calendars sync.
So I went back to the main profile and thought. <maybe both contacts engines are screwing Outlook.> So, since I don't care about gapps contacts anymore I disabled via:
    Disable sync for individual products
    https://support.google.com/a/answer/1041455?hl=en
And also disabled the dynamic Global Address (just in case).
    But the same happens.
I tried with another box, with office 2010, updated it and made a new profile with the office 365 and gapps and the same history.
Finally I though about setting the office 365 account as imap but contacts are not downloaded.
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here.
I need to use office 365 account in the same profile as gapps account.

    Hi,
What’s the file size of your Outlook data file? If your data file is over size, it may cause data file corruption.
Outlook data file corruption may cause this problem. Please try to run a repair of your Outlook data files to check the result:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us
Note: You may need to run Scanpst.exe for several times until there is no error.
In addition, here is a thread discussed a similar issue, please take a look at it and check if it helps:

  • TS4463 I have just installed office 365 and now icloud will not work.  It says that I need to open or install outlook.  Before I installed 365, ICloud worked  and I believe I had Outlook loaded yet it is not there any longer.   I am lost.

I just installed office 365 Home Premium editiion and have lost my ICloud capabilities.  I cannot sign in nor will Photostream work.   A message comes up that says I need Outlook on my computer (I had it before  the 365 was loaded).   I checked on-line and it says that windows 7 does not support outlook and that I cannot download it (don't know how I got it before).   I am totally confused as what to do.   Really upset as I needed the new office package as Windows 7 wouldn't support the 2010 started edition any longer without my buysing that.  Figured it made sense to get the newest version.  Packaging says that it contains outlook.   I don't know what to do at this point.

Did you remove the existing installation of Office before installing the new one?
I checked on-line and it says that windows 7 does not support outlook and that I cannot download it (don't know how I got it before).
Outlook is part of Office 365, and Windows 7 supports all versions of Outlook back to 2003.
I am totally confused as what to do.
You need to correctly remove all versions of Office on your Mac, you need to remove their settings as well. You need to save your Office Userdata from removal by moving it temporarily. I would also uninstall iCloud.
Then reinstall Office 365 followed by iCloud.

I did not like program Office 365 and I want to cancel your subscription and receive a refund.

You need to talk to Office 365, whoemever you bought that sub from.
This is a user to user forum, so no one here can really help you.
Did you get the sub through an app? If so, that app should have a support page or a way to contact them. Their support page should also have a FAQ that would cover cancelling your sub.

  • 1.     If I buy Acrobat XI, will it recognize Office 365 and setup PDFMaker automatically?

Recently bought into MS Office 365, upgrading from Office 2007. I have been running Acrobat X. Come to find the PDFMaker COM Add-in upon which my workflow depends enormously does not support 365.

If I buy Acrobat XI, will it recognize Office 365 and setup PDFMaker automatically?

  • What is Azure? Can it replace an on premise Active Directory?

As you might guess, I'm a complete newbie to Azure and have no knowledge of it at all.
I have a project for which I need to find the most efficient and cost effective solution. Rather than me ask questions, perhaps its better I explain the project and hopefully someone will be able to tell me if Azure will provide a solution.
I have an on premise SBS 2003 R2 server which I need to replace due to the end of life of Server 2003 R2. This server provides, AD, Exchange and File & Print services to around 40 users. I have been given the remit of 'spend as little as possible
and use Cloud services as much as possible' to achieve the migration but I don't want it to be at the expense of productivity and end user harmony.
I have started trialling Office 365, which will hopefully take care of the File and Exchange side of things. So far the users have found it a bit frustrating trying to navigate to files on SharePoint. They are unable to effectively map a drive or explore
to SharePoint and they are frequently asked to enter their O365 password, on top of their local domain password. Although I've not tried Single Sign On, it sounds like this might resolve the issues we're having with O365.
From what I've heard, I'd need an on premise AD server in order to implement Single Sign On, so this means buying a new on premise 2012 server to replace the 2003 SBS server. This obviously means expense. I'm wondering if there is an alternative solution
that addresses the Single Sign On problem and gives me AD features, such as group policy, but without the necessity for an on premise server. Ideally it would also give me print server features too.
Has anyone any idea if Azure can provide an effective solution to my project or have any other solutions. If not, I'll have to get the on premise server.

    Hi TIMTAM73,
This is actually a great topic around the position of Azure for the Enterprise environment and how Azure AD might help.
You've earlier mentioned that you're currently trial-ing O365, for which I truly congratulate you. In my opinion, that's by far the best SaaS product for organizations looking for a professional Exchange, SharePoint and CRM solution.
Please let me also introduce a new term to the discussion, namely Azure Active Directory (AAD, for short). AAD is what the entire Office 365 users & groups repository is based on.
In terms of Windows Server Active Directory, if you're looking to domain-join your organizational computers after you ditch your ancient-WS2003 server, please be advised that AAD won't help, because currently AAD is NOT an LDAP, meaning that it's only
a little more than a user&groups repository and that's it. However, because you were advised to look more into cloud services, please note that there's always the option of deploying a VM with Windows Server 2012 R2 installed and install the role of Active
Directory Domain Services on it. This also means that you get LDAP, but on a newer system.
Afterwards, you'll have to worry how your organizational computers will join the domain you created "in the cloud". Here's where Azure Virtual Networks come in. Considering that you have a decent router, you have the option of creating a site-to-site
VPN and thus connect your local LAN to a network of cloud services which will be hosted on the same IP classes where your computers are: voila, you get domain-joined computers on a cloud-hosted VM.
Lastly, because Exchange might be too expensive to acquire and maintain, I suggest you look into Office 365. Here, you have the option of using the so-called AD Connect (or the generally available and tested DirSync option) which will synchronize your users
and (optionally) password hashes. Additionally, there's also the option of Single-Sing-On (SSO), which will help your users from having to regulary input their credentials.
As for the File and Exchange things, you have a few options:
Use OneDrive for Business and thus your users will get a OneDrive repo directly in File Explorer
Deploy a VM on your cloud service which has the File and Document role installed, with the Work Folders feature and afterwords configure Work Folders on your users' Windows 7/8 PCs
...or simply use a SMB share or FTP on that VM on Azue
Please keep in mind that when it comes to document sharing, it would be best to add at least an additional data drive (with no write caching) and configure the shares on this/these drives. Never use the D:\ drive on the VM - that a temporary storage solution
designed for caching in IIS, for example - or C:\ - the OS disk has write caching applied and you'll eventually get into lots of trouble with your users for loosing their data :).
I hope this helps. I'll be happy to give you more insights and put you on the right track if you miss finding the right documentation.
    Alex

  • Office 365 Pro Plus Shared Activation not working or staying activated

    Hello,
Environment is one Remote Desktop Server Session Host on 2012 r2 fully updated with a fully updated standard 2012 r2 domain controller. I have four users on Office 365 E3 Plan.
The problem I am having - the activation is not persisting across the user either logging off or opening different Office applications. When I open the Office application I get this error - http://i.imgur.com/3fLdmr7.png . If I click OK, it prompts
me to Activate and then sign in, which I do. This then lets me use Word/Excel etc. If I then close Word, and re-open it I go straight back to the error message.
I followed the instructions here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn782858(v=office.15).aspx and subseqently here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/43419d08-4517-45e8-8cb6-ccec1b8b85bf(v=office.15)#BKMK_ConfigureCmd to install.
As per the guidance here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn782859(v=office.15).aspx when I go to File > Account I can see that it looks like infographic A so that is correct. The SharedComputerLicensing value is in the registry and set
    to 1. In my %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Licensing I have four files {GUID}.authString, {GUID}.authString.txt.previous, {GUID}.signingCert, {GUID}.signingCert.txt.previous
I have a tried a full removal and re-install of Office and this made no difference.

Hello. I actually raised a support request to Microsoft about this. It seems from my testing that when using user profile disks in 2012 r2 that shared activation doesn't work. Last update this was with engineering team at MS. Will update when they have
confirmed this is an actual bug.

We have Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise License. We have an on-premise Sharepoint system with SSRS. We are planning to migrate to Sharepoint office 365 portal. My question is: Is SSRS supported in Office 365 Sharepoint 2013 portal?

SharePoint Online does not have SSRS. Instead, it has PowerBI, which is a separate license, with different capabilities.
