  • Is it possible to migrate specific field/object of DB in offline migration?

    Hi,
I am now using offline capture and offline data move to do migration( SQL Server 2k to Oracle 10g).
Could I select specific tables/ procedures/ functions/ etc. to capture during run the OMWB_OFFLINE_CAPTURE.bat ? Or any others way can do? ( online capture can only select specific tables/views but not procedures/ functions. It will capture ALL procedures AND functions instead.)
On the other hand, could I select specific field(s) of table? Since I just need 10 out of 80 fields to be migrated and the data size is huge, I can save much time in data move if I can do so. Maybe it is just a question of BCP usage. Any advices on anyway to do so will be great help. Many Thanks.

    Philip,
I'll check and get back to you.

  • OSDStateStorePath path for Win 7 to Win 7 refresh offline hardlink migrations?

    Hi,
We are in a process to test Win 7 to win 7 refresh scenario wherein we are wiping existing win 7 with new win 7 image. Existing systems have BDEDrive (without drive letters) that is causing issues. I have set
OSDStateStorePath to C:\<storename> as of now, during TS exceution Winpe assigns C drive to BDE volume and store gets created on it. Process fails during restore since once image is placed and restore stage comes, BDE Drive loose its drive letter and
load state couldn't able to restore from MigrationStore.
I want to know what should be the ideal place for OSDStateStorePath?
is should be %systemdrive%? And if anyone can share there steps from TS to achieve win 7 to win 7 offline migration would be great. Thanks.
    Regards

%systemdrive% will be the Windows PE 's drive so that it does not work either.
You can set multiple steps of Set Variable for OSDStateStorePath. The running condition should be set as The partition contain folder or file you placed in Operating System Drive beforehand.

    - Impossible to add disk on the old one since it's an old machine and this machine 's no more in grantee provider.

  • Migrate From MS Access 2003 to Oracle using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0

    Hello All,
I am trying to migrate Access DB .mdb using the Oracle SQL Dev 3.0 Data Migration Wizard, everything go very nice and smooth until the Capture Step, for sure am using the online mode, in the Capture Step the list of available databases is empty and a Msg Box saying that the DB list should have at leats one database selected, so I don't know what's that mean or how to fix this.
in my .mdb file I have four tables and I can copy the data to Oracle using the Right click and copy to Oracle Function, but it really takes much time.
Any help would be really appreciated and thanks in advance.
    yours,
    Hussein

    Just to clarify:
You have created the migration repository and start the migration using Tools => Migration => Migrate
    - now you've selected the repositiry
    - specified a project
    - selected the source database
=> you've choosen the ONLINE Mode
==>> and now you don't see your MS Access database in the "Connection" List
    Is this correct?
If the steps you're doing match the steps I've posted above, then please be aware for MS Access migrations you need to choose the OFFLINE method. The MS Access source database information is collected by the MS Access Exporter available from Tools => Migration => MS Access Exporter
Once you've created the XML/OCP file you specify this newly created file during the OFFLINE migration mode.
If your steps differ from mine, please post yours more detailed.
    Thx.

  • SQL Server 2005 huge data migration. Taking more than 18 hours ...

    Hi,
We are migrating an SQL server 2005 DB to Oracle 10 g 64 bit 10.2.0.5. The source sql server DB has few tables (<10) and only few stored procedure(<5). However one table of source is very huge, it has 70 million records in it. I started the migration process; it was running till 18 hours passed away then I cancelled it. I am using SQL Developer 3.1.0.7 with online migration.
Kindly let me know if I choose offline migration will it reduce the data move time. Is there some other tool by oracle that can migrate huge data (records in millions) quickly. Is there some configuration in SQL Developer that can catalyses the process?
    Kindly help.
    Best Regards!
    Irfan

I tried using SQL Loader to move data. The file exported by SQL server for the transaction table is of size around 17 GB. The sql loader stopped giving error on file size limit. The error is given below:
    SQL*Loader: Release 10.2.0.5.0 - Production on Thu Mar 22 15:15:28 2012
Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle. All rights reserved.

  • SQL Developer not migrating Sybase data

    Hi,
I am trying to migrate data using the SQL developer tool from a Sybase database to Oracle 11g. When using the Migration Repository, I am able to recreate the schema but am not able to export the database content. (i.e. Not able to do the Data Move). I tried doing a Offline migration but the generated datamove files does not have any content. Anyone aware of any issue with the data migration tool with SQL developer ?
I have tied exporting data from the table directly to generate SQL inserts but even this is not helping. Any suggestions ?
    Regards,

    Hi Nelson,
Could you detail the exact steps you followed and what options you chose at each of the panels in the migration steps ? this will help to see where you may be having problems.

  • Migration from SQL SERVER 2008 to Oracle 10g issues.

    Hi ,
I'm trying to migrate from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 10g and I end up with some issues that I wanted to ask some info about it.
First, I was following a tutorial
    http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/db/hol08/sqldev_migration/mssqlserver/migrate_microsoft_sqlserver_otn.htm
and and in the last version of Oracle SQL developer I downloaded, I didn't find the Load Database Capture Script Output option.
My first question is how can I either add this option or is there a new way to load the capture script ?
Then I use the migration wizard and after following everything, I had the migration complete message from the application.
When I tried to open my connectionss, it tells me version 11.2 is required. Does that mean that Oracle SQL developper 3 only
do the migration for oracle 11g? And if I tried the previous versions, it doesn't support SQL server 2008.
What do I do in this case ?
    Thanks !

    Thank you for your reply.
After using the wizard and made the offline migration script, in the Migration projects window I made a move data to the oracle connection I previously made and after when I tried to reopen the connection, I couldn't.
Well I didn't retry it yet to see if I'll have the same behavior but basically this is what I think I did. When I tried to open the connection I made, it says, Oracle 11.2 is required.
Now, I just generate target from the convert model and it says migration complete but how do I test it and I do I go to oracle and see change ?
Do I had to create a special user in SQL Server to log to it first ? How do I logon to it ?

    Arjun,
you cannot do an online migration with MS Access as you can do with other foreign datasources. You can only do an offline migration.
The first step that you need to do is to call the Microsoft Access Exporter. Click on Tools - Migration - Microsoft Access Exporter and chose the exporter of the MS Access version that you are using.
The exporter creates an xml file for you. After the exporter has finished you can do the migration, click on Tools - Migration - Migrate, but in Step 4 please select "Offline", and then you can select the xml file that the exporter has created. The following steps in the Migration assistant are then doing the migration for you.
You might also want to read the chapter "Before Migrating From Microsoft Access" in the online help of SQL Developer.

  • SQL Developer Migrate mySQL to 11g gets ORA-00972 due to 30 char name limit

I am running MySQL version 5.5.30 server, SQL Developer 3.0.04 Build MAIN-04.34, and Oracle Enterprise Server 11.2.0.1.0, and using Migrate option to move both data dictionary and data from mysql to Oracle
Most of the steps worked fine using OnLine option: used Capture just fine to generate the repositiory, and Convert generated DDL script just fine in the SQL Developer file folder.
It failed to create users due to privs, but I created them manually: emulation user and also the MYSQL data schema user, after which I took the generated DDL, connected to my Oracle data schema user, and ran the DDL to basically create all the objects. And found out that over 50 tables / column names from MYSQL are longer then 30 char, and thus the generated DDL fails to create objects..
Question - I can manually replace the names with shorter 30 char names, but if I do, my data migration step will not work.
i cannot find references to 'name too long' problem anywhere is SQL Server documentation..
here is the Oracle error example:
    Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-00972: identifier is too long
    00972. 00000 - "identifier is too long"
*Cause:    An identifier with more than 30 characters was specified.
*Action:   Specify at most 30 characters.
Creating Primary Key Constraint PRIMARY_1 on table bank_account ...

    Hello,
have you tried the offline migration option? Then you can probably modify also the ctl file for the SQL*Loader to reflect your changes in the DDL script. I didn't yet try it out, it was just an idea that came to my mind.

  • SQL Developer 3.1 not migrating Sybase Users to Oracle 11g R2

I have tried both online and offline capture and the Sybase users are not being captured (Tables, Views, Procedures Worked). I searched this forum and saw another post about this issue but the Oracle representative never came back with a final finding/answer. We have 1000+ users to migrate so all help is appreciated.

    Hello.
sorry for the delay (if you need quicker response I suggest that you open a Service Request in My Oracle Support).
In your first post you said that you tried online and offline migration. So for an offline migration you have created the scripts using the Create Database Capture Scripts menu button. Then you have run that scripts against Sybase. Has there been created a file SYB15_SYSUSERS.dat (or SYB12_SYSUSERS.dat if your Sybase version is 12)? If that file has been created, does it contain anything or is it empty?

  • MS SQL Server 2008 Migrating to Oracle 11.2g

    Hi.........
Can any body help me how to migrate the MS SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11.2g. Plz do needful ASAP.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Ranjith

    Ranjith,
You can use the SQL*Developer migration workbench to migrate from SQL*Server to Oracle. It is free to download and use.
You can download SQL*Developer from here -
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/overview/index.html
then there is information on migration from non-Oracle systems here -
    Oracle Database Migration Technology
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/index-084442.html
From here there is a link to specific information on migrating SQL*Server -
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/sqlserver-095136.html
Please review this information and if you have any further questions or problems it would be better to ask them in this forum -
    Forum: Database and Application Migrations
    Database and Application Migrations
One thing I would recommend is that unless the SQL*Server database is very small you make an offline migration. This gives you more control over how it is done and to resolve any problems.

  • Migrate sybase to oracle 11G

    Hello,
We have a customer that wants to migrate from sybase to Oracle 11g. I know you can migrate through SQL Developer but therefor you have to connect to the sybase database.
If you may not connect to the sybase database, due to security reasons, is there another solution to migrate?
For example take an export from sybase, get the dump file and import into Oracle? Or setup a replica sybase database and export/import the original sybase database and then migrate to Oracle?
    Many thanks.

Yes there is. You can do an OFFLINE migration using SQL Developer.
The offline migration using SQL Developer is based on scripts (generated by the SQL developer) that export mandatory information from the Sybase database, put that info into flat files which SQL Developer will then read in to collect the foreign database information and finally to create with that information the Oracle model.
Same can be done for the data move which will then export all data from the tables you want to migrate and to import them using SQL*Loader.
So get SQL Developer and then click on Tools -> Migration -> Create Database Migration Scripts, then choose Sybase database and if the Sybase admin wants to export the Sybase database information from a Unix or Windows based client. The tool will now create scripts for you that you can pass to the Sybase admin. Let him run them which will create 2 directories with a couple of data files in it. Let the Sybase admin now zip them and pass them to you to start the Offline migration.

  • Sqldeveloper capturing null DB during Migration Sysbase 15 to Oracle 11g.

I am doing offline migration from Sybase to Oracle using SQLdeveloper 3.0.02 . I have performed below steps:
    1) Create a user (without CREATE ROLE, CREATE USER, DROP ANY SEQUENCE, DROP ANY TABLE, DROP ANY TRIGGER, DROP USER, DROP ANY ROLE, GRANT ANY ROLE privileges due to security reasons I can't have these privileges. This user have all other privileges suggest as per Oracle docs)
    2) Create a migration repository
    3) Made a connection and associate the migration repository to it.
    4) Generate the offline Sybase capture files using sqldeveloper and generate the dat files having Sybase structure.
    5) Tool -> migration -> migrate -> following the wizard instructions I start the migration.
Now the message window showing me 1) capturing connections 2) capturing catalogs and then directly migration is successful. Finally there is no error message.
I have checked the migration project navigation window and found that sql developer has captured the null database.
I checked the migration repository tables and found that only MD_CONNECTIONS, MD_CATALOGS and MD_DERIVATIVE tables are populated.
Could you please suggest me why SQL developer captured the null database. ( No Sybase database objects are captured from Sybase15.ocp file)
    ASAP reply would be appreciated.

    Hi,
At that time SQL developer was not able to capture the connection details. The error msg was "Capturing connection failed". So we downloaded the sybase jtds driver and recaptured ocp files from sybase and run the migration again...this time capture connection is successful and capturing of cataloge is successful and after that sql developer can't able to capture any sybase db objects from sybase15.ocp
We going to upgrade sql developer to latest version and will try it again.
