OID Replication - Unable to test Oracle Net connections to a node with SQL

Hi all,
I am implementing OID replication and currently stuck on the verification part where I should use SQL*Plus to verify if TNSNAMES.ORA is configured correctly.
First server installed as a regular OID installation. Second server is installed with a high availability option.
Server1: name: server. Domain: domain.com
Server2: name: oid1. Domain: galaxy.com
My TSNAMES.ORA:
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server.domain.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
OIDREP =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oid1.galaxy.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
So, the configuration instructions state to test both WITH and WITHOUT the domain name:
IMPORTANT: Test Oracle Net connections to all nodes from each node in the DRG.
Use SQL*Plus. Test both system@net_service_name and system@net_service_name.domain.
IF THIS DOES NOT WORK, THEN ASR REPLICATION SETUP WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL!
So, my SQL*Plus statement "*sqlplus "sys/abcd1234@orcl as sysdba"* works just fine.
But the command "*sqlplus "sys/[email protected] as sysdba"* fails with ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Thanks in advance for your input.

Vijay,
Thank you for your help. I was able to connect to my first instance without any issues. My next problem is updating TSNAMES with the second server, I am still getting the error message when connecting via SQLPLUS. May be my SQL statement wrong?
sqlplus sys/[email protected] as sysdba" or sqlplus sys/abcd1234@OIDREP as sysdba Neither one is working :(
Here is my TSNAMES. For now, I am using IP addresses
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.192.141)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
ORCL.DOMAIN.COM =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.192.141)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
OIDREP =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.192.137)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
OIDREP.GALAXY.COM =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.192.137)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =

  • How can I connect NetBeans 6.1 with SQL Server 2005?

    Hello guys...
    how can i connect NetBeans 6.1 with SQL Server 2005?
    there is no SQL Server in Server list when we create a new Web Project and choose Server.
    I'm new to NetBeans and this is my first time of posting.
    If has some errors and unwanted disturbing,pls understand me. Thanks.
    (If you have references or some snippets, i'll be glad if u can share.)

    The JDBC-ODBC bridge wasn't recognizing any of the primary keys I had set up in SQL Server. After lots of head banging, here's the solution I came up with:
    1. Download the appropriate driver. SQL Server 2000 requires the SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=07287B11-0502-461A-B138-2AA54BFDC03A&displaylang=en).
    SQL Server 2005 download: (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C47053EB-3B64-4794-950D-81E1EC91C1BA&displaylang=en)
    3. After installing, right-click on "Libraries" in your project, and choose "Add Library...". Next, give it a name (i.e. SQLServer2000), and select "Class Libraries".
    4. On the next screen, find the JAR files (should be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib\), and add them under the "Classpath" tab. It will now be available under "Libraries" for future projects.
    5. You can now create a connection to a specific database under the "Services" tab (next to "Projects" and "Files" in the top left of the screen). Select "Microsoft Sql Server 2000 (Microsoft Driver)" and format the "Database URL" like this:
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver//YOURSERVER:1433;DatabaseName=YOURDATABASE
    1433 is the default port, though your DBA may have changed it.
    I posted a simpler version of this on the NetBeans.org FAQ page - they had the following title with no content on the answer page:
    "Cannot Select Tables From MsSql 2000 Because It Says No Primary Key Next To Each Table But The Tables DO Have A Primary Key. What Do I Do?"

  • Connect BizTalk Server Configuration with Sql Azure - version 2013 R2

    Hi,
    My data resides on Sql Azure. I need to create BizTalkRuleEngineDb on Sql Azure using Microsoft BizTalk Server Configuration wizard. Subsequently manage rules from Business Rule Composer.
    I am unable to connect to Sql Azure from BizTalk Server Configuration application. Without this i could not create BizTalkRuleEngineDb on Sql Azure. I gave the following details:
    Database server name: <servername>.database.windows.net,1433
    User name: <username>
    Password: <pwd>
    When i click configure button, a message pops "The database server you specified cannot be reached...."
    All i need from BizTalk is to create Business Rules Engine DB on Sql Azure. Then I would like to manage rules using Business
    Rule Composer connecting to Sql Azure BizTalkRuleEngineDb.<o:p></o:p>
    My business logic will programmatically access BizTalkRuleEngineDb db and execute rules using Microsoft.RuleEngine.dll<o:p></o:p>
    Is this a feasible solution? I would like to see your inputs.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tushar

    First I would suggest you to perform sanity check to confirm if SQL server connectivity is perfect.
    1) Verify the MSDTC Settings on both the servers:- It should resemble as below.
    2) UDL Test:- Create a new "Text Document"(new notepad file) rename it to ABC.udl, double click and give the SQL server details and Test connection. If this fails it means BizTalk is not at all able to connect with SQL and in this
    case BizTalk Application is just a victim of Network connectivity issue.
    You can also refer the below article-

  • Connecting BI Web Server with SQL Server Express / Visual Studio Express for Report Development

    Hi,
    My company is using the Report Builder 3.0 to build the BI Reports ( I guess based on SQL Server 2008 R2). Our software vendor has provided us the web URL to access the BI Server. I want to generate the BI Reports with SQL Server Express or  Visual
    Studio Express instead of Report Builder 3.0. Need some guidance in this regard.
    regards, BI.Developer.

    Hi,
    Based on my research, if we want to open the report from report server to Business Intelligence Development Studio, we should download the report from report manager, then add this item in Business Intelligence Development Studio. For more details, please
    see the following steps:
    Type the URL in IE browser to access the repot manager.
    Browse to the RDL file folder or location.
    Hover over the report, and click the drop-down arrow near the RDL file.
    Click on download button, the download window will pop up now. Then save the rdl file.
    Click Manage option in the drop-down list, make a note of its Data Source Connection string.
    Create a Report Server Project in Business Intelligence Development Studio.
    Right-click the Reports folder to open the Add Existing Item dialog box, navigate to the location where you saved the .rdl file for the report, and then click Add.
    Right-click the Data Source to verify the connection string is correct.
    Besides, please make sure that software vendor had assigned ‘View reports’, ’Manage reports’, ‘Manage folder’ and ‘Manage data sources’ tasks for your account, so that you can download the report and view the data source.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • Database upgrade - Oracle 10g r2 ,RAC(2 Nodes with ASM) upgrade from HP-UX to RHEL 5.9

    Hi All
    I am planning to upgrade our RAC database 2 nodes with ASM from HP-UX to RHEL 5.9.
    Following is our setup
    Current setup:
    Oracle Database 10g r2 (10.2.0.5.0) RAC database.
    Nodes: 2
    Storage: ASM
    OS: HP-UX ia64
    Database Size: 1.2 TB
    New Setup:
    Oracle Database 10g r2(10.2.0.5.0) RAC database
    Nodes: 2
    Storage: ASM
    OS: RHEL 5.9 x86 64
    Since we are moving from a big endian format to a small endian format(HP-UX to RHEL 5.9) the same ASM cannot be used.
    Kindly help me with process and other important documents to be followed.
    Thanks.

    Hi...
    If it was a standlone database concepts like transportable tablespaces, rman would have been convenient.
    Since we are using a RAC database with ASM as storage how do we use these techniques specified in NOTE:733205.1
    Due to endianness issue we cannot use the same ASM instance.
    Along with the new RAC node install a new ASM instance would have to be created.
    Kindly help me with migration for RAC with existing ASM to new Hardware
    Thanks and Regards

  • Connection BI 7.1 with SQL tables (Navision)

    Hi gurus!
      I need infomation from Navision Tables and connect with BI 7.1. Do you know which is better system DB Connect or UD Connect??
       And how can I to create the UD connect? I have never create this infosource.
    Thks.

    you can do a DB connect if you BW app server is on a Windows platform - else you can only do a UD Connect - this is because the SQL client for SQL Server ( Navision ) is available only for Windows.
    If you have the option - try and use any other ETL like Informatica / BO Data services if possible...

  • Safari unable to use working net connection

    In the morning it couldn't load news feeds, then later in the day some sites would work and others would not load. By the end of the day Safari was unable to pull any sort of information from the web, claiming it was not connected. The behaviour has also spread to Dashboard widgets, iTunes and Software Update.
    Bizarre? Yes, but there's more. You see, other apps can get online just fine. Mail, Adium, Colloqy, even other browsers. Also, my other Mac is working perfectly normally (I'm writing this in Safari on my powerbook, while the mini is confined to Camino).
    So far I've danced all the usual rain-dances to no avail:
    - trashed prefs
    - emptied caches
    - 'reset' safari
    - repaired permissions
    - rebooted many times
    - rebooted modem and router
    - no firewall on machine or router
    - mini placed in router's DMZ
    If it weren't for SU I'd say there was a webkit problem, or maybe it's just any Apple app that uses port 80? I dunno, what port does SU use? Is there a way to re-install Safari and webkit alone without doing a full re-install?
    [edit] This guy seems to be having this same problem, but the solution proffered doesn't work for me (did it for him?)

    This seem to quite common now I noticed on PayPal first.
    PayPal warns its members to avoid using Safari when making transactions, since it has a distinct lack of protection against phishing – the act of coaxing a user to click on a false link on a false web page for malicious purposes. PayPal users are typical targets for phishing attempts, where the page asks users for their personal login information. Once this information is collected, malicious users have free reign over a compromised PayPal account.
    According to PC World Safari is the only major browser to be vulnerable in this way.
    "Apple, unfortunately, is lagging behind what they need to do, to protect their customers," said Michaek Barret, chief information security officer for PayPal. "Our recommendation at this point, to our customers, is use Internet Explorer 7 or 8 when it comes out, or Firefox 2 or Firefox 3, or indeed Opera."
    Safari also does not support EV certificates, a relatively new standard that gives the user a visual cue that a website is valid.

    Hi,
    I'm after some help configuring my jconsole 5 (or 6) command line and service URL to create a secure connection to a Weblogic 9.2 server (1.5 JVM). The weblogic runtime mbeans server is being used to host my custom mbeans. Here are the settings I'm currently using:-

    I know the service URL works as I have a standalone java client which can make the connection using the same JVM arguments and service URL from my development machine, using any of the mentioned protocols. I can also access the server using IIOP from jconsole unencrypted, but this will need to be turned off eventually.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I did find one sun forum posting relating to problems connecting JConsole to SSL/TLS. In that case the poster ended up creating a new connector provider for jconsole to use. I don't know if this is relevant to my situation, and no code examples were made available for me to try. If anyone can offer some advice on things to check it would be a great help, or free alternatives to JConsole which are proven to work with secure protocols.

    Solution *Part 1"
    Well I've managed to get JConsole and Weblogic 9.2 working over a secure connection. Getting to the solution has involved a
    lot of searching on the web, and some help from Oracle support, but the biggest credit goes to a team from Xebia (France)
    for their blogsite with an informative article on the subject.
    Here are the links to the article
    Original in French:-
    http://blog.xebia.fr/2007/06/28/jconsole-et-weblogic-9
    Put through Google's translation toolset into English:-
    http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://blog.xebia.fr/2007/06/28/jconsole-et-weblogic-9
    Originally I reviewed this without translation, but not being a French speaker/reader I just skipped the text and looked at
    the code / setup examples. This lead me to my first breakthrough which was to add the following to the JConsole startup
    command:-
    -J-Djmx.remote.protocol.provider.pkgs=weblogic.management.remote
    and
    -J-Djava.class.path="D:\jdk1.5.0_16\lib\jconsole.jar;D:\jdk1.5.0_16\lib\tools.jar;D:\weblogic_client_jars\wljmxclient.jar"
    This forces JConsole to use the weblogic classes for the various protocols, rather than its own classes, and cured the problem
    of JConsole throwing an "Unknown protocol" exception when I tried to use T3, T3S, IIOPS or HTTPS. However it didn't cure the
    next problem, which depending on the version of JConsole, was either "Unknown host" or "Malformed URL".
    I experimented with using "Weblogic.jar" in place of "wljmxclient.jar" (both taken from my Weblogic installation), and got a
    different set of errors.
    After further searching on the web, with no success, I had the inspiration to put the Xebia article through Google
    translate to see if anything else popped out, and it did. It turns out that there is a mismatch in the way the userid and
    password typed into JConsole's GUI is passed to the underlying protocol "client provider", and then the server (this may
    just be a weblogic issue), so it becomes necessary to extend the weblogic classes with a version that puts the
    userid/password in the correct place before calling the original weblogic methods. Once done the classpath needs updating
    to include the jar for the new client provider classes, and the jmx.remote.protocol.provider.pkgs needs to point at those
    classes instead of the weblogic ones.
    Here's one of the client providers I created, derived from the sample code in the Xebia article:-
    package myproviders.jmx.remote.t3;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Map;
    import javax.management.remote.JMXConnector;
    import javax.management.remote.JMXServiceURL;
    * Extended from the original Weblogic provider to correct the userid/password location problem.
    * Credit to the team from Xebia Business Intelligence Architects for the solution.
    public class ClientProvider extends weblogic.management.remote.t3.ClientProvider {
         private static final String local_protocol = "t3"; // just a debug constant
         public JMXConnector newJMXConnector(JMXServiceURL serviceURL,
                   Map environment) throws IOException {
              System.out.println("inside myproviders clientProvider.newJMXConnector()");
              System.out.println("Protocol is " + local_protocol);
              Map newMap = checkCredentials (environment);
              System.out.println("continuing with super.newJMXConnector()");
              return super.newJMXConnector(serviceURL, newMap);
         @SuppressWarnings ("unchecked")
         private Map checkCredentials (Map map)
              System.out.println("...inside myproviders clientProvider.checkCredentials()");
              // if the old map doesn't contain the new security properties
              if (!map.containsKey("java.naming.security.principal") && ! map.containsKey("java.naming.security.credentials"))
                   System.out.println("......Missing new format credentials");
                   // but it does contain the old one
                   if (map.containsKey("jmx.remote.credentials"))
                        System.out.println("......found old format credentials - transforming old to new.");
                        // build a new map containing the correct properties, as well as the old ones, so whichever
                        // version the server is expecting, it will get the values.
                        Map newMap = new HashMap();
                        newMap.putAll(map);
                        String[] cred = (String[])map.get("jmx.remote.credentials");
                        newMap.put("java.naming.security.principal", cred[0]);
                        newMap.put("java.naming.security.credentials",cred[1]);
                        return newMap;
              return map;

    You'll have to be way more specific for a more meaningful answer.
    Have you tried memory profiling tools for your operating system to locate the "leak"?

  • Connection Pooling in Tomcat with SQL Server

    Hey Guys,
    I have been banging my head against this all day :( so i now turn to you for some help :) I have a web app that uses a database now i want to start using this connection pooling that is supposed to be greatly more efficient than creating a new statement each time i need something from the database.
    I have read many articles about this already today and feel that a lot of the contradict each other and one thing that i saw was that there seems to be different way of doing this.
    One solution i have tried to implement but have so far failed is as follows:
    In Web app:
    Update Web.xml to include:
    <resource-ref>
            <description>
                Resource reference to a factory for java.sql.Connection
                instances that may be used for talking to a particular
                database that is configured in the server.xml file.
            </description>
            <res-ref-name>
                    jdbc/BBL
            </res-ref-name>
            <res-type>
                javax.sql.DataSource
            </res-type>
            <res-auth>
                Container
            </res-auth>
        </resource-ref>Update Context.xml to include:
    <Context path="/TEST_CON_POOLING">
    <Resource name="jdbc/BBL"
    auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    username="sa"
    password="sa"
    driverClassName="com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver"
    url="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.20.1.91:1433;DatabaseName=BBL"
    maxActive="8"
    maxIdle="4" />
    </Context>And then my jsp to test this:
    <%@taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c"%>
    --%>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
        <head>
            <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
            <title>JSP Page</title>
        </head>
        <body>
            <%@ page import="java.sql.ResultSet, java.sql.*,java.sql.SQLException,javax.naming.Context,javax.naming.InitialContext,
            javax.naming.NamingException,javax.sql.DataSource" %>
            <%
            Context initCtx = new InitialContext();
            Context envCtx = (Context) initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env");
            DataSource ds = (DataSource)
            envCtx.lookup("jdbc/BBL");
            Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
            //... use this connection to access the database ...
            Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
            ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("select id from users");
            while(rs.next()){
                out.write(rs.getString("ID"));
            conn.close();
            %>
        </body>
    </html>When i actually deply this i get the following nasty tomcat error:
    root cause
    org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException:

         javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:803)As far as i know all the necessary sql server jar files are in my classpath, and any way i have them all sitting in the CATALINA_HOME/common/lib directory.
    Question:
    Am i going about this correctly? Some tutorials i have read say that i should be updateing the server.xml file but whenever i go near that tomcat will not even start.
    Help greatly appreciated.
    If there is anything i have not posted let me know and i will get it up.
    Rob

    Updating the server.xml file used to be necessary. It is no longer required, and actually not recommended any more.
    The best approach I feel is as you have done here, putting the definition into a context.xml file specifically for this application.
    In fact it all looks pretty good to me.
    JDBC driver jar in [TOMCAT]/common/lib - check
    Configuration in context.xml rather than server.xml - check
    Using JNDI - check.
    Have you got the connection url right?
    Is it jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver or just jdbc:sqlserver ? I have seen both on various sites around the internet.
    What version of SQL Server are you using? Check its documentation on the JDBC driver as to what class to use, and what the connection string should be.
    Try it in a plain java class - can you get a connection just using plain JDBC code?
    What values do you use for that?
    Hope this helps,

    Here's news for you. It was never documented that GROUP BY would order your data, that was just a side effect, and a side effect that has now been corrected. If you want ordered data you should include an ORDER BY in your query, as you always should have done anyway if you'd written the queries properly. ;)

  • Connecting BI 7.0 with SQL server R2

    I get the error below when I try to link the open hub destination with the sql server r2. I am able to view the data correctly in preview mode but when I execute the package in realtime mode I get the below error. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have followed the steps from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd299430.aspx

    Thank you.

    I saw this error when implementing this white paper previously.  I believe we ended up using the 32 bit version of SQL Server, and we might have ended up using R1 to get it to function.
    The problem is actually with the librfc32.dll...I don't believe it's compatible with SSIS 64-bit.

  • Is there a step by step guide to connecting a Drupal website with SQL Azure?

    The company is upgrading the Drupal website and the goal is to have a live database by connecting the Drupal SQL database with he SQL Azure database. Does anyone have guide/step by step process for implementing connectivity between Drupal and SQL Azure?

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting here.
    Recommend you to see "
    Best Practices for Drupal CMS on Azure Websites " written by Sunitha Muthukrishna which talks about How to migrate existing Drupal site to Azure Websites and Copy database to MySQL in Azure Web Sites
    " Mysqldump " tool is one of the preffered approaches to Copy database to MySQL in Windows Azure Web Sites
    Here is another document that talks about Migrating Drupal to azure and
    Copy the Database which might help.
    Hope this helps you.
