OID + SNMP v3

Hi !
i have a shell script to detect "error-disabled" port status.
The OID is : 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.548.1.3.1.1.2
when i did my request with snmp v1 i have no problem, but with snmp v3 i have this :
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.548.1.3.1.1.2 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID
it's pretty weird because i allowed the view for my user :
snmp-server view SOGECAPRead iso included
snmp-server view SOGECAPRead mib-2 included
and i dont have any problem with my other check with snmp v3.
So, what's wrong with my configuration or request ?
switch : 2960-X
iOS version : 15.2(2)E
thx for your help

ok, problem solved !
the table is empty every time if we dont have an err-disable. But, in SNMP v1 we dont have a error if the table is empty, but we have an error with v3 because, the request works and retunr the integer in v3
i modified my script, and now it's works fine

  • WLC OID (snmp) for authenticated clients

    I know the OID for associated users 1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.1.1.38.
    But is there one for Authenticated clients? I am looking for the numbers similar to the one I can get from the report tools in WCS.
    I think the number of authenticated clients is a better number than using the associated client count when talking about guest WLAN's.
    Best regards,
    Steffen Lindemann

    Hi,
    yes there is. I have created a table with solarwinds for this but they represent or provide information in diffrent way.
    The table consist of
    >WLAN Profile
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.1.3.1.1.3
    This object specifies the WLAN Profile name
    this 802.11 wireless client is connected to.
    >Client Status
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.1.3.1.1.2
    The object that represents the current status of the client.
    >MobileStationUserName
    1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.4.1.3
    User Name , if any , of the Mobile Station. This would
    be non empty in case of Web Authentication and IPSec.
    >Client Protocol
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.1.3.1.1.6
    The 802.11 protocol type of the client.
    'dot11a' - The client is using 802.11a standard
    to connect to the access point (AP)
    >MobileStationIpAddress
    1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.4.1.2
    Ip address
    Well the Clinet status would be represted in num value:
    Client status:
    4 = associated
    6 = Probing
    8 = Disconnected
    Protocol:
    1 = 802.11a
    2 = 802.11b
    3 = 802.11g
    Hope this helps

  • SNMP cutdown excluded

    Hey
    I am working on a bias current sensor problem with ten gig interfaces and values that currently have N/A values according to "sh interfaces te1/5/4 transceiver detail", for example threshold values for transceiver curent.
    I am using solarwinds eng toolset snmp view, and when I view one of these N/A values I am getting a value of **unsupported OID**.  So I am curious if i "cutdown" this OID(snmp-server view cutdown OID excluded) but then if I hit that OID again specifically what can I expect any given SNMP tool to return as a value?  Should I expect the same result as if the value was N/A?  Or possibly some type of error?
    history:
    we have solarwinds orion as our NMS, they released version 10.4 which monitors hardware health.  Its throwing errors on all our ten gigs for bias current sensor as being in a warning state, but it seems to be happening on values where the thresholds are set to N/A and only on ten gig interfaces.  working with support and they suggested a cutdown, but it seems like the solarwinds app is hitting the OID specifically which seems to make it pointless to issue a cutdown.  So i am looking to tell if i am hitting a N/A value or am I getting a value from a item that has been cutdown, how to tell the difference rather than trusting the command.  Id like to prove to myself i am getting one or the other.
    thanks
    e-

    Hey Eric,
    Is it possible to view the config of the device returning the N/A value?  If it is employing cutdown it will be present in the config.
    Knowing the IOS version would be helpful as well.  There may already be information regarding your issue in the release notes.
    Use of SNMP views
    Access to MIB tables or objects can be optimized with the use of  appropriate SNMP view configurations. This is useful when an OSS makes  frequent retrieval of very large tables and there is no direct control  on it. To achieve this, an SNMP view has to be configured by excluding  respective MIB sub-trees and attaching this view to the SNMP community  name or group name being used. This approach can also be applied in  cases where certain MIB implementations being polled have to be  prevented (for example, very slow response or impacting the performance  of other MIBs). The following shows a view configuration and associated  community configuration which prevents IP-FORWARDMIB (ipCidrRouteTable)  and IP-MIB (ipNetToMediaTable) being polled. SNMP query made with  community string "mycom" will not access these two tables.
    •snmp-server view cutdown 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22 excluded
    •snmp-server view cutdown 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.24.4 excluded
    •snmp-server community mycom view cutdown
    Cut down views can also be created by excluding everything and including only what is required by OSSs.

  • ISA550 SNMP Problem

    My client wants to use MRTG to track traffic out to the Internet.  The tools within the ISA550 are good but they need something more detailed.  I have setup MRTG before with a Cisco router and it worked great.  However, this time it is not working so good with the ISA550.  The cfgmaker program used to create a configuration file for MRTG reads the ISA550 loopback okay and reports the interface speed, but the other interfaces come up with a speed of 0 (zero).
    Is there anything special I need to do with the ISA550 to get SNMP to read interface speed?  MRTG uses SNMP v1 or v2 and that is what the configuration of SNMP on the ISA550 is set to.

    I have additional information about this issue.  I did an "snmpwalk" on the Cisco ISA550 and the results (edited for relevancy) are below.  I also did a "snmpwalk" on a Cisco SG200 switch.  The Cisco router does not report any ifspeed except on the loopback interface.  By comparison, the SG200 shows ifspeed on every interface.
    Does anyone here have any idea why I can't get an interface speed?  This is required for the MRTG traffic tracking program.  I don't think Cisco supports this product with phone support, but if they do, please, let me know.

  • View individual connections by IP on ASA using a MIB

    I would like to see embryonic connections of some IP's but Id like to do this with SNMP and I´m looking for a MIB for this. I see the embryonic connections with the command "show local-host x.x.x.x" but Id like to do this with a MIB in SNMP.

    Hello Kenneth,
    I looked through various docs and here is what I found:
    We can collect the statistics for total number of connections through the box, which is the output of "show connection count" using the following OID:
    SNMP OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.2.2.1.5.40.6
    However, Ithere is no such OID which tracks the statistics you are looking for.
    Here is the reference link for SNMP on ASA and the MIBs supported:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/configuration/guide/monitor_snmp.html Per above document 8.4(1) onwards ASA supports connection-limit reached trap notifications, MIB's available on site.
    Here is the link from where we can download the MIBs supported by ASA:
    ftp://ftp-sj.cisco.com/pub/mibs/supportlists/asa/asa-supportlist.html
    If you wish to be alerted when embryonic connection limit reaches, you can set email alerts to do that.
    Whenever such limit exceeds, the firewall generates the following syslog:
    Error Message    %ASA-4-407002: Embryonic limit nconns/elimit for through connections
    exceeded.outside_address/outside_port to global_address
    (inside_address)/inside_port on interface interface_name
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/system/message/logmsgs.html#wp4773060
    Setting email notifications such that whenever this sylog is generated, an email is sent across. Here is how we can do it: /----------------------------------Begin Output--------------------------------/ config t logging list test message 407002 logging mail test logging from-address [email protected] logging recipient-address [email protected] smtp-server /------------------------------------End Output--------------------------------/

  • I am trying to build a basic TCL skeleton script that reads a remote SNMP OID and displays the value on the screen.

    I am trying to build a basic TCL skeleton script that reads a remote SNMP OID and displays the value on the screen.
    I don't want it to be an EEM Event, I just want to run it from the (tcl)# prompt.
    So I guess I'm asking if you can use cli_exec and other commands in the "namespace import ::cisco::eem::*" in a normal non-EEM script - can I do that?
    This is the error I get:
    OTN.159(tcl)#source flash:TCL_SNMP_Remote_Read.tcl
    invalid command name "::cisco::eem::event_register_none"             ^
    % Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

    event manager session cli username "cisco"
    Any help to get me started would be greatly appreciated!
    Tim

    If you don't want an EEM policy, then don't use any of the EEM constructs.  Instead, all you need is this:
    set output [exec "snmp get v2c 192.168.1.100 public timeout 1 oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0"]puts $output

  • The cisco snmp oids do not work, I can't get cpu or memory data.

    Hello. I want to monitor the cpu and memory usages on my cisco devices using snmp. I found the snmp oids related to cpu in the following page :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094a94.shtml
    I just copy the table here:
    But the oids in the table do not work on my devices. For example, I have a cisco 3550 switch with the ip 192.168.1.211, version 12.2(25)when I want to get the informations about the oids up in the table, I got these results:
    It shows that the oids cisco given up in the table are not existed in my 3550 switch's MIB. More weird is that when i add a number "1" to
    the end of the oid cisco given, I can get some meaningless data for some unkonwn item names like "entreprises.x.x".
    For most mib items, the snmp oids work well on my switch. For example, the following graph shows the interface out rate of the swtich:
    I think the essence is when I executed the following command:
    in all the output results, there's not any item relevant with "cpu" or "memory", but most other items are ok, such as interfaces, as shown below:
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.47 = STRING: FastEthernet0/39
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.48 = STRING: FastEthernet0/40

  • SNMP OID for AssociatedAPs in Virtual WLC 7.4.100.0

    Hello Guys!
    I need you help for something that I need to do to monitor my Wi-FI network.
    I'm using a Virtual WLC (SW Ver 7.4.100.0) where most that 30 APs are associated with, but I would like to monitor each disaciossiation of APs using SNMP. After some search, I have found this OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.1.1.38 on some forums but it doesn't work, I see random number in my monitoring tool.
    Do you know if there is any another OID to use with this software version or maybe if I have to upgrade to ver7.6 or ver8?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    I'm assuming you don't own a license for Cisco Prime Infrastructure
    One thing you can do is send SNMP traps to your monitoring software from the WLC (I've never used virtual WLC but my assumption is most options are the same. If your software doesn't support SNMP Traps consider a different monitoring software...
    Go to Management > SNMP > Trap Receivers and set up your receiver
    Then to to Management > SNMP > Trap ControlsHere is where you set what traps are sent via SNMP. If you see the "AP" tab you can set several things.
    If you only want to see if an AP is dropping off the network and the above doesn't work, you could just put dhcp reservations on your APs and have your software ping it. This of course is only if its off network, not if it simply disassociates.

  • Snmp for oids with multiple values

    Hi,
    So if we have array of OIDs defined in the mib file (eg, 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.1.1, 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.1.2, 1.3.6.1.4.1.22.1.3 and so on each having different values). does anyone know how can we capture this using SNMP fetchlet?
    or
    do we need to specify each oid separately?
    Thanks

    Maybe I misunderstood lushhay here. I thought lushhay wanted to associate a key with multiple values. So one way is to have the value of the Hashtable key to be an ArrayList.
    Hashtable table = new HashTable();
    String key1 = "myKey";
    String key2 = "myKey2";
    Date value1 = (some date value);
    Date value2 = (another date value);
    Date value3 = (another date value);
    ArrayList valueList = new ArrayList();
    valueList.add(value1);
    valueList.add(value2);
    valueList.add(value3);
    table.put(key1,valueList);
    This would associate "myKey1" with 3 date values stored in an ArrayList.
    There is a downside to using the string concatenation method. You assume that the content of each values will never contain a delimiter. You also assume that the values are strings. But if the values are byte[], the string concatenation will not work. If the values are Dates, it can still work, but you would have to convert it from Date to String then concatenate, then get the String value through StringTokenizer and then convert back to Date.
    But anyways, if the values are Strings (and won't contain the delimiter character), then the concatenation method would suffice.

  • Cat6509 - SNMP OIDs for interface stats

    Hello,
    I have a Catalyst 6509-E-VSS with IOS 12.2(33)SXI3.
    I'm looking for OIDs to retrieve the same counters I get with the commands
    "show interface stats" and "show interface switching".
    I want to graph the number of packets that are process switched.
    The OIDs from IF-MIB (  ifInOctets, ...) show only the total number of octets not the
    switching path.
    Thanks for help
    Mike

    After a long time silence on this frontier the problem is comming up again.
    My goal is still to find out, what interface causes process switched traffic.
    There is usualy a lot of traffic handled in software but sometimes (of course on weekend midnight) it seems to increase the cpu load (IP Input process).
    Regarding the Cisco document "Troubleshooting High CPU Utilization Due to the IP Input Process" I want to monitor traffic by switching path.
    So again - does anybody has an idea to get these counters with snmp ?
    Update: IOS is now 12.2(33)SXJ3

  • SNMP OIDs for ASR1k

    Hi everyone,
    We're trying to read CPU & MEM values from ASR1006 equipment. Obviously the old OIDs are not supported on this platform. This is what we have found by going through the snmp object navigator. (I assume .2 is the ESP, .3 is the RP, .4 & .5 are the SIPs). But the values we get from the command line are slightly different than what we get through snmp. Has anyone done this before? What OIDs do you use?
