Olap cache not storing result sets for certain queries

Hi - another cache question
my result set for a query is not getting set in OLAP CACHE - the query variable level is stored ok but not the result set.
different queries store the result sets ok.
there is nothing in the query or cube properties that should disable the caching of the result set.
there is plenty of space available and there has not been any changes to the query or data loaded or aggregates changed.
any ideas?
cheers - Neil

I would do a performance check in RSRT2.  This will usually give you some additional information related to olap cache.
Hope that helps.

  • Can I use same result set for two queries?

    Hi,
    Can I use the same result set for two queries?
    For example:
    ResultSet rs = null;
    rs = ps.executeQuery(query1);
    while (rs.next()) {
    rs = ps.executeQuery(query2);
    while (rs.next()) {
    Is it OK to use? or Is there any preformance issues?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Prasad Vagolu

    Sure. You have a variable of ResultSet type. First you create a ResultSet and assign it to that variable. Then later you create another ResultSet and assign it to that same variable. Assigning an object reference to a variable takes essentially no time, and at any rate it isn't any faster to assign it to a different variable. Also, no matter whether you use one variable or two, you are still creating two ResultSets.
    However, you really should be closing your ResultSets after you finish using them. That's nothing to do with the assigning-to-a-variable question.

  • OLAP Cache not invalidating

    Hello People,
    I am having a problem with the OLAP Cache not invalidating when new data is loaded into the basic cubes that make up a multiprovider.
    In detail:
    I can run a report from a multi provider for which I will then see a cache entry in RSRT for that query.  I can then perform a data extraction to one of the basic cubes, including a rollup of aggregates, index generation and statistics build.  I then re-check RSRT and the query cache selections still exist. If I now re-run the query it retrieves the results from the cache, ie not updated with the new data.
    Information:
    System - BW 3.5 SP 13.
    Basic infoproviders have DB Stats settings of 100% of IC data used to create statistics as advised by an SAP performance expert.  Cubes are less than 10million records.
    Please help me as this is driving me crazy and my Basis support are insisting that it is a problem with the settings in BW...
    Thanks
    Jim

    Thanks for the replies.
    I realise that new data should invalidate the OLAP cache, however this is my problem.  It does not appear to be removing the cache entry when new data is loaded.
    I am getting around the problem by manually deleting the cache entry in RSRCACHE on a query by query basis across multiple app servers.  - Not very efficient.
    I have also tried the regeneration of the query but have found that this does not always invalidate the cache across all app servers, only the one that the regeneration was performed on.
    You mentioned the time-stamp of the cache entry - do you know what table this is stored in?  It would be helpful for explaining on OSS I think.

  • Getting message : The result set for this selection was empty on sm20

    Hi,
       I assigned below parameters in rz10 :
    rsau/user_selection                                 1
    rsau/max_diskspace/per_day                  1950M
    rsau/max_diskspace/per_file                 650M
    rsau/enable                                               1
       I activated security audit profile in sm19 also.But when iam going to sm20 for analysis of security audit log iam not getting report iam getting this message  :     The result set for this selection was empty.
    Gudie me for the same.
    Thanku

    Hi,
    The result set for this selection was empty.
    I think your configuration is OK except one thing...
    Check in SM19, if you have selected "Filter Active" check box in "Filter 1 and Filter 2" screen and Also "Audit Classess".
    Even though security audit is enabled in SM19, without selecting filter it will not log the events and give you the above message.

  • Restrict Broadcaster to not send Emails for certain Queries

    Hi,
    is there any possibility to restrict a user on sending Emails for certain queries?
    With the existing authorizaion objects S_RS_BCS and S_RS_ADMWB it is not possible to do so.
    He will need S_RS_COMP to be able to open the Query.
    With S_OC_SEND I just be able to take his ability to send Emails, but the user will need this option.
    Does anybody has an idea?
    Thanks and best regards
    Sascha

    The Workspace User role ony controls whether the user is allowed to use Workspace or not.  A user will only be able to Start a Process in Workspace if they a) are a Workspace User and b) the process security settings allow them to by having the INVOKE_PERM enabled.  The INVOKE_PERM setting is usually controlled from within Application Management area in the Adminui and would be set per process to define who is allowed to invoke (start) that service (process).  Take a look at your processes and see if they are defined for the All Principals group having the INVOKE_PERM as this is one way in which everybody can start a process.
    I'm unfamiliar with the Services User role but if it sounds like maybe this has the INVOKE_PERM so this could be why all your users can start processes, presuming they are all in this role.
    But however the INVOKE_PERM priviledge is being granted, it is not via the Workspace User role.
    Hope that helps.

  • Stored function not returning result set unless recompiled

    Hi,
    I have a strange situation going on with a basic Java (1.6.0.17) application talking to an Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) database. Basically what is happening is that sometimes a stored function's return value (a result set) is not making it as far as JDBC/Java, unless I recompile the stored function (with absolutely no changes to the application or function's code). I am always able to successfully see the result set if I call the function directly from within SQL Developer, just not on the Java app/JDBC side.
    I've tried running with 3 different physical Oracle 11g servers and tried running the app on a couple of machines. I'm wondering if this is either some kind of caching issue or perhaps a JDBC bug/misconfiguration.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached to this message:
    1. stored function code
    2. snippet of Java app code
    3. ODBC trace output when returned a empty result set (ie failure scenario)
    4. ODBC trace out when returned the correct result set (ie success scenario)

    What does the XML look like? It appears that some of the supposed XML stored as a CLOB is not really valid XML. Find the row in the table that is causing your issue and review the "XML" in it.

  • I tell firefox not to remember passwords for certain sites, and it forgets when I exit

    I'm running 3.6.9 on Win7. I have chosen the setting of remembering passwords for websites. However, for certain sites I choose "never to remember passwords" and this used to work fine in earlier versions. Now, whenever I exit firefox these sites for which I do NOT want to remember passwords are forgotten about, and every time I visit them after a restart I have to instruct firefox that I don't want to remember passwords there, etc. It's getting awfully tedious. What changed? How do I ensure that my password "exceptions" are remembered between sessions?

    Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Site Preferences"
    Clearing "Site Preferences" in "Clear Recent History" will remove exceptions that are stored in content-prefs.sqlite (site specific settings for zoom) and permissions.sqlite (exceptions for images, cookies, pop-ups, software; Tools > Page Info > Permissions) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
    The password exceptions (Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Show Passwords) are also removed from signons.sqlite.

  • SAP Note: 1127156 Result set is too large

    Hi,
    The note 1127156 explains how to resolve the issue with removing the message "Result Set is too large." I want to check the settings in the template and it gives the following steps but i cannot find the settings on the Analysis web item of the data provider.
    Can someone pls help.
    Query View
    The following steps describe how to change the "safety belt" for Query Views:
    1. Use the context menu Properties / Data Provider in a BEx Web Application to maintain the "safety belt" for a Query View.
    2. Choose the register "Size Restriction for Result Sets".
    3. Choose an entry from the dropdown box to specify the maximum number of cells for the result set.
                   The following values are available:
         Maximum Number
         Default Number
         Custom-Defined Number
                   Behind "Maximum Number" and "Default Number" you can find the current numbers defined in the customizing table RSADMIN (see below).
    4. Save the Query View and use it in another Web Template.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
    I was facing the same issue in BEx analyzer 7.0. The query was working fine in BW 3.5 analyzer but gave error in BEx 7.0.
    When executed in web, it gave error result set is too large.
    The maximum no of cells that can be displayed is 750000.
    Please check the result set returned by the query. Also check note Note 1040454 - Front-end memory requirement of the BEx Analyzer.
    Some enhancement are planned to be delivered in enhancement package 1.

  • JZ0R2 -- No result set for this query

    hi,
    I'm using this code to update records in the database:
    facsk = myArray[ctr];
    query = 'excute dp_autogeo_accept" + facsk;

  • Sales Orders not to be created for certain customers via legacy

    Hi,
    We have an inbound interface from legacy into SAP which creates Sales Orders in SAP. But we have a requirement where the business does not want sales orders to be created for certain customers in SAP via the interface.
    To prevent the sales orders from being created for those customers via the interface, we have created entries in the look-up tables (Hope other projects also use lookup tables and are aware of what are look-up tables). But still the sales orders are being created in SAP for those customers via the interface.
    What else should we do to prevent the sales orders from being created for those customers.
    Thanks in advance.
