OLAP JAVA API - JDev

hi all!
i want to develop an olap application with JDeveloper and i´ve followed the steps of the tutorials on bibeans tech site (create and format bi objects). Now i´ve got a graph and a crosstab formatted etc. which i can show in JDeveloper.
My question: is it possible to produce the crosstab and graph with the java graph api on my own or to get the java-code behind the produced crosstab/graph? First of all is there a java code behind?
I´ve recognized the oracle.dss.* package but i can´t find a api guide or sth. like that on the oracle site...
Can anyone help me?

As far as I know there isn't any detailed guid or help doc. The best you can get is the help doc inside JDeveloper.
To answer your question, yes its possible to create presentations using java api.
There are some code fragments inside of the help doc - but its very minimal - you have to find your way through it!!
For a web app - you could use a combination of bi bean tags (for std. features ) & java API ( for any customaization if neded) .
EG: Use the presentation tag to build the presentation in a JSP
And then add some custom java code inside if needed for any customization...

OLAP Java API: NullPointerException at MdmMetadataProvider. init

Hi there,
I'm using a Oracle9i R2 (9.2.x) db server with OLAP extension and like to write a client application with the OLAPI. When following the programming instruction from the API guide and running a simple program, a connection can be established, but a NullPointerException occured when calling ExpressDataProvider.getDefaultMetadataProvider.
Does anybody know more about this?
By the way: Don't exist there any OLAP services with Release 2 anymore? I couldn't find any hint... Possibly, they are included in the db services?

SQLException - Connection Reset (OLAP JAVA API)

when trying to get the rootschema of the MetaDataProvider I receive this error:

Access to Attribute Type via Java API

Hi,
I'm writing an aplication in Java to access out OLAP schema and display certain DIMENSION/LEVEL and ATTRIBUTE values. This is working out really well but I'm hitting one issue at the moment which has me stumped.
When I display a Dimension value in a table I want to default the attribute we display to a sensible display value. In AWM there is a field "Attribute Type" which offers drop down selections for "User", .... "Member Short Description", "Member Long Description"...
See the General Tab under Attributes for a particular Attribute. Looking at the Help text for the "Member Long Description" I see the following.
"Long descriptive names typically used by Oracle Business Intelligence tools for displaying dimension members in selection lists, crosstabs, and graphs." Looks perfect for what I want. My Dataware house architect already has an Attribute for each hirearchy
marked with this property so in theory I should be able to look for the Attribute in the Dimension with this property and bingo I have my default display Atttribute!
The problem is I seem to be able to find api's to access every aspect of the MdmAttribute object except this particular property.
Here is a snippet from the OLAP api sample code augmented with some println's of my own:

None of the avaiable APIs of MdmAttribute seem to fit the bill.
The question is ... is there an API somewhere I can call on the MdmAttribute object or an associated object that will give me back the "Attribute Type" as listed in this dropdown. Note that getType returns DataType!String which denotes the fundemental type of the Attribute (int, String etc) rather than this abstract Attribute Type property we need. Not listed here is the getDataType() api which also returns DataType!String and seems to be equivalent to the getType api.

Financial Reports error message Java API can't connect to olap

Hi,
On version 11.1.1.3, after reapplication of 11.1.1.3 because of other problems with shared services, get the following message on the diagnostics for the financial reporting server.

Error: Result: -1; Error message: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1051293): Login fails due to invalid login credentials
Recommended Action: Make sure external checker is working.
Financial reports over the Web can not connect to the essbase server. Financial reports through the studio works fine. Any suggestions how to troubleshoot or resolve the issue with the login credentials for the Java API to essbase?

Things to check -
1) Does the user you specified in the connection have the role OLAP_USER
2) Does the user you specified in the connection have access to an OLAP schema (analytic workspace or CWM2 ROLAP schema)
3) Have you installed the correct JDBC files from your database instance into the BI Beans JDBC directory

Newbie who want to use Java API for OLAP

Unable to run the 9.3 JAVA API in "embedded" mode without APS installed

Hello, I'm trying to run the 9.3 JAVA API in "embedded" modewithout APS installed. I first used build Build 242 which was supplied with 9.3beta. This worked great and exactly the way I wanted to.Now I'm trying to do the same with the production release of 9.3JAPI which is (to my knowledge) build 305. With build 305I'm not able to connect to Essbase without APS installed. Make sure you have the Oracle JDBC library setup in project parties and it's setup to export. The api's are fine. Have you looked at the BIPublisherIDE I wrote. All this code is already written for you. There is a manual on the site as well

Hanging of Java API (java.io.File/java.nio)

Hi
I am facing the following problem on one of my machine , we have NFS partition mounted on the server and our application is writing on it using JAVA java.io.File/java.nio api. But when NFS is unavailable its hangs and also causes the hanging of our server. Please help me if some one already faced this problem.
NFS file system un-reachable the Java API (java.io.File/java.nio) will stuck and see if there is any solution

BI Publisher Java API not displaying Barcode in PDF Report

Hi Team,
I have used BI Publisher java API in my ADF Application to generate PDF reports. It is not displaying barcodes in the PDF Reports. I have included Code 39 ttf file in my java home as well. Please let me know if any other configuration needs to be done.
I am using jdev version 11.1.2.0.0. Please help me out if anyone knows the solution to this problem.

My OES server is running on a server, and I'm trying to develop the policies on JDeveloper on my workstation. Policy store is in an Oracle DB. I've copied the jps-config.xml file from the server, and reference it in my JDev project.
How do I create a connection to the Policy store to be able to use the oracle.security.jps.service.policystore interfaces?
Do I have to go through creating a JpsContextFactory to get to the policy store? If I'm using the JpsContext, then how can I acquire it for the server instance of OES, and not a local (in JDev instance?) Or, is there somewhere I can set the connection strings for the DB policy store to allow me to get directly to the store?

And update the jdbc connection values appropriately for your system.
Note that this is an insecure way because the password is stored inside this config file in plain text. A better way is to put the password into the wallet, but this should get you started.
Once you got this working you can replace the user and password properties with the following:

You will have to download/install the Essbase Enterprise Services 6.1. The Java API is contained within this product and all interaction with Essbase via the Java API uses EES on the middle tier. The good news is that the Java API portion of EES is available for free. Problems with 11g Global Schema / Java API Test Programs

In the process of trying to get the 11g sample java api programs up and running, I've encountered a problem. Having installed without error the sample schemas for documentation and set up the 11g version of the test code, I get this error when I try to run BuildAW11g.java

This seems to indicate that there is a problem with the sample schema - that GLOBAL.CHANNEL_DIM.TOTAL_ID doesn't exist. Is that right?
On the topic of the sample schemas, a quick question. The install script runs without error so presumably the tables described in the readme had been installed, but I'm not sure. How can I verify this? When I connect as global using Oracle SQL Developer and expand 'Tables' in the right hand pane, I don't see any tables at all. I would have (perhaps naively) expected to see the tables listed in the samples schemas readme, eg, CHANNEL_DIM. Should I have? If not, how can I view these tables? Thanks in advance for any input anyone may have.

IFS logging/tracing when using IFS Java APIs

We are using IFS 1.1 and the java APIs that come with it
(oracle.ifs java packages). In the IfsDefault.properties file
you can specify tracing options. I have enabled tracing in this
properties file, but I don't know where the tracing output
goes. Where/how can I specify the output file for this tracing?
