OLAP Queries with Different Measures

I seem to be having a problem when I run multiple queries
against one cube where one query looks at the default measure and
the second looks at a different measure. The problem that I am
having is that when I try to change the slicer on the first query
(by changing a menu selection) after running the second query my dg
showing the first query dissapears.
Please see the code attached below. On the left hand side
there is a tab labeled Run Queries which I have added to help with
testing. You can build the cube and run my two queries using the
buttons provided. Note that the "Filter Demand Query" button does
nothing right now. Clicking "Demand Query" will return an aggregate
of all of the forecasts in the OLAPDG in the Demand: Forecasts
accordian pane. This part works fine.
You can then change tabs to the Model tab, choose from the
models in the tree and a slicer will change the dg accordingly by
the selected model. The problem comes after running the next query.
Click the Run Supply Query button. This runs a different query
against the same cube but on another measure, the Inventory
measure. The result is shown in a different dg in the Supply: On
hand, In coming accordian. This query actually works fine.
However, if you now flip back to the Demand: Forecasts
accordian and dg and try to change the model in the tree, the whole
content of the dg dissapears! What is going on? It seems to be
related to the slicer used to switch measures because if I comment
that out and instead keep the defualt measure, the problem goes
away. What is weird is that these are separate query variables. Why
does one affect the other? Please help!

You can do this by changing your query.
SELECT ...
FROM STUMST
WHERE (STUMST.STU_ID = :Student_ID
OR :Student_ID IS NULL)
AND (STUMST.STU_NAME = :Student_Name
OR :Student_Name IS NULL);
This way the query will return data for a given student if the ID or name is passed into the parameter form. Or will run for all students if NO ID or name is passed into the parameter form.
Hope this helps,
Tom

    Hello,
I'm trying to combine 2 queries that contain the SUM/CASE function into one query that'll produce the output in the same table, rather than having two The thing is, the two queries have different conditions. I've created a sample data table and outputs to better describe what I'm trying to achieve.

  • How to create summation column with different measures of fact table

    If I have a salary fact table with columns MONTHID | BASIC-SALARY | TRAVEL-ALLOWANCE
and in Deski, I drag all the three columns to form a horizontal table
then is it possible to create a summation column to show total salary?
I don;t want to create a variable because in that case the formula need to be changed everytime there is a new allowance.

    Hello Binayak,
as you refer to Deski I recommend to post this query to the [BusinessObjects Desktop Intelligence|SAP BusinessObjects Desktop Intelligence; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to the creation and design of Desktop Intelligence documents such as universe connectivity, prompts, charting, formatting, filter, and formulas. It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Desktop Intelligence queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Dropdown Box Effecting Multiple Queries with Different Technical ID InfoObj

    Hi,
I'm using BW 3.5 Web Application Designer.  I have a dropdown box for region (0REGION) based on DataProvider1 and it effects DataProvider1, DataProvider2, and DataProvider3.  In DataProvider2, the query that is used has region as a navigational attribute of Plant, ie 0PLANT__0REGION.  And in DataProvider3, the query is based on an InfoSet.  So the region field is named like ZABC_I01__F02.
My issue is that DataProvider2 and DataProvider3 don't get updated when I select a region from the dropdown.  Essentially, all three (0REGION, 0PLANT__0REGION, and ZABC_I01__F02) are region except that the technical names are different.  Has anyone also experienced this?  And is there a solution>
    Thanks!

You will have to use Custom JavaScript + BW Web API commands to generate the filter URL for all the different data providers.
There is a how to document available for generating URLs based on dropdown selection under the BI How to guides.

  • Follow up material with different base unit of measure

    Hi all,
I have the BOM with material Mat1 as a component. The base unit of measure of Mat1 is KG.
Is it possible to replace Mat1 with Mat 2 material in MRP once the Mat1 warehouse stock is depleted.
The base unit of measure of Mat 2 is KGK.
The required quantity of MAT1 should be recalculated from KG to KGK accordanly unit ratio.
Please, expain, where does it maintain?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hello Peter,
You can use follow-up setting (set Mat2 as follow-up of Mat1 in MRP 4 view of material master if this follow-up scenario is valid for all BOM) with discontinuation indicator '1', w/o effective-out date. In this case Mat1's stock will run out (no PldOrd, PR, etc) will be created, and from the date, when Mat1's stock runs out, MRP will calculate with Mat2.
As I told you, according to my best knowledge, you cannot realize this with different base unit of measures. (you have to change the buom of one of the related material masters or create a new material master if you cannot cope with buom-change).
Follow-up group scenario can also be used but I guess different buoms will be a problem in that case as well.
Maybe there are better solution but I'm not aware of it...

  • ME51N : how to deal with different units of measure as defined in MM01?

    Hi Folk,
Could you please help me ?
Some of our materials booked in stock are purchased by our purchasing department in Europe but as well by our purchasing department in US.
The base unit of measure of those materials are defined with KG (kilogram) in the masterdata file (MM01).
Why this is not allowed to enter a purchase requisition (ME51N) with other unit of measure than KG?  My purchasing department in US is not able to work with kilogram and thus they need to enter the requisition with US units of measure (pounds).
However when we create purchase orders, we can play with other units of measure.
Does someone can explain to me how to create a PR with a unit of measure different from the default one?  Or could you share your experience to bypass this issue.  Note that we really would like to have the same material number both for Europe and US (with different plants and storage locations).
    Thank you very much!
    François.

  • Spatial overlay queries involving tables with different spatial extents

We are using GeoMedia Professional 6.1 with an Oracle 10g database. For validating geometry, we use a standard minimum bounding rectangle (MBR) that is fairly tight to our city boundary. Some city departments are requesting that we extend the spatial limits to create a larger MBR for some new features. This will involve using a new SDO_DIMINFO array in the MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE and creating new spatial indexes. It is our intention to leave the existing features "as-is" with the original MBR and spatial indexes. I have done some preliminary testing in GeoMedia and have not run into any issues when doing spatial queries involving features with different MBRs. Spatial intersections, spatial differences and spatial filters seem to complete in a reasonable amount of time, even with large data sets. Does anyone have any experience using different MBRs with Oracle spatial overlay queries? Are there any other potential issues we should be aware of when working with tables that are created with different spatial extents such as performance?

Luc ... Thank you for supplying the URL for Simon Greener’s website. This article supports information we already received from our GIS software provider.
With regards to your questions: One of the checks carried out in our “ValidateGeometry” procedure is to ensure that a new or modified geometry is within the bounding rectangle defined by the SDO_DIMINFO. An error is raised if the user tries to add a polygon that is well beyond the city boundary rather than within the prescribed city area. Currently, we do not use different MBR’s as layer extents (there are only a couple of exceptions). We are in the process of conducting system and performance testing to identify potential issues that may be encountered when tables created with expanded upper and lower bounds are used in downstream applications such as intranet/internet web maps. We are still trying to identify any potential “hotspots”.

  • BEx Broadcaster - Using a Workbook with multiple queries on different tabs

    Hi,
I was wondering if any has used Bex Broadcaster to broadcast a workbook that contains multiple queries on different tabs in the workbook.  I believe someone has mentioned that this was an issue in the past and I was wondering if this now a possibility with Bex Broadcaster
If you were able to do this successfully, please let me know.
    Thanks

    Hello
    Of course it is possible.
But, if you want to broadcast a workbook, you have to use a Precalculation Server.
Without precalculation server, workbooks cannot be precalculated and broadcasted.

  • Universe creation against SAP Cubes/Queries with same connection

    Hello,
I am creating universe against the connection for SAP BW system, once I have created a connection and selected a cube or query and built a universe on top of it....If I go back and create a new universe and this time change the connection to point towards a new cube/query the old universe stops working.
Is it a limitation for SAP database where we need to have a new connection setup for each universe...or is there a different way to use same connection pointing towards different cubes/queries for different universes.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Dharma.

    Hi
when you build a universe based on the connection and want to use the universe with reports you can not change the underlying connection because then your universe will not work anymore.
You can have multiple universe on a single connection.

  • Create n tables with different number names

Hi guys, I work with SQL Server 2008 and OS Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bits. I have to create 10 tables with different names e.g. 'Image1', 'Image2', and so on. For this goal, I use a loop and concatenation. Here is the code:
    DECLARE @i INT
    DECLARE @v_table_n CHAR
    SET @i=1
    SET @v_table_n='Image'
    WHILE (@i<=10)
    BEGIN
        DECLARE @STR VARCHAR(100)
           SET @STR = 'CREATE TABLE SQL_DB_Filestream.dbo.Image1' + @v_table_n + CAST(@i AS VARCHAR(10)) + ' (
[ID_RowFeatVec] INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
           [CF1] FLOAT,
           [CF2] FLOAT,
           [CF3] FLOAT
           EXECUTE @STR
        SET @i = @i + 1;
    END
    GO
As a result, an error message appears:
"The name 'CREATE TABLE SQL_DB_Filestream.dbo.Image1I1 (
[ID_RowFeatVec] INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY' is not a valid identifier."
I have tried a lot of versions but it doesn't work.
    What am I doing wrong?

    2) Ten identical tables is a huge design flaw. It is so awful I want to use it in one of my books. Tables are sets. A set is completed whole, or as Cantor said “a many that is treated as a one” (it sounds cool in German or Esperanto).
    3) We hate loops in SQL. This is a declarative language. I will bet you have no idea what that means.
What you want to do is mimic a magnetic tape file system from the 1950's. We used to put a label on the tapes based on the date or a sequence number. Not a completed whole.

I want the result to be 3 different columns, each of them showing the result with its criteria.
Anyone can help me figure it out?
    Thanks.

    Hi Xiaopapa,
According to your description, you want to join the results of two MDX queries together, right? Currently, this functionality isn’t supported in Analysis Services MDX. However, there is a workaround for this requirement, for the detail information about
it, please refer to the link below to see the blog.
Joining the results of two MDX queries together
Besides, if you are using SQL Server Reporting Services, you can use Lookup function to join the column in different dataset into one table.

  • Cube with different reports data

    Hi
We have 3 different Reports based on a Multi which has only one Infocube.
We have new design policy that any New different report that needs to be created should be based only on this Multi and all data should be loaded only into this only infocube on which this Multi is based.
So for the existing 3 reports,we have three different database views in source database.Fullload will be done from source every weekend(previous week's request will be deleted every week) of snapshot data into three different DSOs from these three different datasources.(Its new policy that every report should have its own DSO ).All these 3 DSOs should be connected to only one cube on which our reporting Multiprovider is based. So from these 3 DSOs,data will be loaded into cube in fullload every weekend(previous week's request will be deleted)
    Now my question is:
1.when all the data is going to cube from three different views and DSOs(with different keyfigures but some same characteristics in 3 DSOs),how can our 3 different reports pick data that is relevant for it when all data is pooled together in one big cube?Doesnot aggregation happens?
(When a report is run, does OLAP processor goes into cube and picks only those keyfigures and characteristics in cube thats relevant for that report and by that way, avoids other data??)
2.I need to create one new report. For this I need to create one new view and one new DSO.So,data will be loaded from view to DSO and this DSO will be connected to existing cube(new dataflow until cube from source view). But our cube doesnot contain one keyfigure. It contains all other characteristics and keyfigures from DSO.
a)How can I add this new keyfigure from new DSO to cube without disturbing existing data in cube.I donot need to load historical data for this new keyfigure and new report.
b)I am going to transport this from development. So what care do I need to take while transporting changes to Production cube which contains lots of data and many reports running on it?
    Thanks.

(When a report is run, does OLAP processor goes into cube and picks only those keyfigures and characteristics in cube thats relevant for that report and by that way, avoids other data??)*
It will depend on what Key Figures you are displaying in your report. If a KF is coming from only 2 DSOs, data from those 2 DSOs will be displayed.  And you are right in saying that OLAP processor will pick only releavnt KFs and Characteristics but it will not filter based on characteristic value e.g. if a characteristis is coming only from DSO 1 and not from DSO2, but KF is coming from both, so for the data in DSO 2 that characteristic will be displayed as #. If you want to filter data, you can put filters in the report.
Another good option can be to store the DSO name as a characeteristic in your cube, it might be helpful if you want to make a reprot based on data from a particular DSO, then you can put the filter based on DSO name.
*2.I need to create one new report. For this I need to create one new view and one new DSO.So,data will be loaded from view to DSO and this DSO will be connected to existing cube(new dataflow until cube from source view). But our cube doesnot contain one keyfigure. It contains all other characteristics and keyfigures from DSO.

You are adding a new KF which is coming only from new DSO, so you do not need to worry about a lot of things, you can move your changes to procudtion and load data from this new DSO. Data which is already there in the cube will not be impacted.

  • Joining two fact tables with different dimensions into single logical table

    Hi Gurus,
I try to accomplish in Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.3.0:
    F1 (D1, D2 and D3)
    F2 (D1 and D2 and D4)
    And we want to build a report F1 F2 D1 D2 D3 D4 to have data for:
F1 that match only for D1-D2-D3
    and data for
    F2 that match only D1-D2-D4
all that in one row, so D3 and D4 are not common dimensions.
    I can only do:
    F3 (D1, D2)
    F4 (D1, D2 and D4)
    And report
F3 F4 D1,D2,D4 (all that in one row, and only D4 is not a common dimension)
Here is the very good example how to accomplish the scenario 1
    http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/08/joining-two-fact-tables-with-different.html
But looks like it does not work in 11.1.1.3.0
    I get
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 14025] No fact table exists at the requested level of detail: [,,Clients,,Day,ROI,,,,EW_Names,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,]. (HY000)
I am sure I set up everything correctly as advised in the blog but it works with only one not a common dimension
Is it a bug in 11.1.1.3.0 or something?
    Thanks,
    Kate

    Thanks for all your replies.
Actually, I've tried the solutions you guys mentioned. Generally speaking, the result should be displayed. However, my scenario is a little bit tricky.
table Y's figures are not the aggregation of table X for D dimension. Instead, table Y's figures include not only D dimension total, but also others (others do not mean A, B, C dimension). For example, table Y stores all food's figure, while table X stores only drink's figure. D dimension is only about drink's detail. In my scenario, other foods' figure is not provided.
So, even if I set D dimension to all/total for table X, table X's result is still not the same as table Y.
Indeed, table Y does not have a column key to join to D dimension's key. So, if I select D dimension and table Y's measures at the same time in BI Answer, result returns no data. Hence, I can't compare table X and table Y's results with selection of D dimension.
Is there any solution to solve this problem?

  • Two Fact tables with Different set of Dimension Tables

    Here is my scenario:
I got two fact tables: X and Y (actually, they are the same tables, but with different level of data)
    and four dimension tables: A, B, C, D
    X joins relationship to all dimensions (A, B, C, D).
    Y joins relationship to only A, B, C, but no D.
When I select dimension A, B and C together with fact tables X and Y in BI Answer, result is displayed and compared.
However, if I select dimension D together with fact tables X and Y, only data from fact table X is displayed. There is no result displayed for fact table Y. I know that this is because fact table Y does not join to dimension D.
If the above relationship unchanged, how can I display both X and Y's result in BI Answer when dimension D is selected?

    Thanks for all your replies.

Indeed, table Y does not have a column key to join to D dimension's key. So, if I select D dimension and table Y's measures at the same time in BI Answer, result returns no data. Hence, I can't compare table X and table Y's results with selection of D dimension.
Is there any solution to solve this problem?

Not only queries are different but also the number of blocks read by top 10 queries are much higher on 17th than 18th.
The other big difference is the average read time on two days

You wrote with different  execution plan, I  think, you saw plans. It is very difficult, you get old plan.
I think Execution plans is not changed in  different days, if you not added index  or ...
What say ADDM report about this script?
As you know, It is normally, different Elapsed Time for same statement in different  day.
It is depend your database workload.
It think you must use SQL Access and SQl Tuning advisor for this script.
You can get solution for slow running problem.
