Old program copy onto new computer

In about 2004 I had to buy the InDesign program to replace Pagemaker. I used the new program all the time and loved it. Last year my eMac died completely and we couldn't even transfer anything over to a new computer. I have now been without InDesign for about 12 months and am shattered. Last night I eventually found the original program disk. I am shattered once ,ore because the program will not download onto either my new iMac or my MacBookAir. Any solutions to help this financially poor pensioner? Rampratjim

If it was 2004, then you probably bought CS2, no? LIke WIlli says, that's half of the information we'd need to answer your question. The other half would be the version of Mac OS you're using.
Both your MacBook Air and your new iMac have Intel processors. Your new iMac (assuming that it's new new, and not just new-to-you) is running a version of OS X that is too new to have Rosetta support for CS2, which was a PPC-only application. So, it really boils down to this: Is your MBA running Snow Leopard? If you don't have Snow-Leopard-or-older installed on one of your Macs, there are technical problems that will keep you from being able to install CS2.
You should tell us what error messages you get when you try to install; that will help us figure out which of the above is the problem.
Lastly: I run lots of old software on brand-new Macs, by virtualizing an old install of OS X, e.g. running OS X 10.5 inside of OS X 10.8. It's not trivial to get it running, but it's totally doable. There are many cheap and/or free solutions, here. It'd be easiest if, when you found your old CS2 disk, you found an old Leopard or Snow Leopard disk at the same time.
Edited: to remove commentary about activation, because oh yeah they shut down the CS2 activation servers.

Sorry I left out important info re: old InDesign onto newest computers. The old program is definitely the CS2.
The main computer is the iMac which runs Mac OS X 10.7.5, Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5.

If you don't see the Application Data or AppData folders, you may need to show hidden files.
Just copy all the folders into the same location on your other computer
username is the user your presently logged in as.

Trouble with transfering old songs/videos onto new computer

Not long ago my computer got a virus and I needed to reconfigure it and what not. As I finished, I installed itunes and purchased quite a few videos and songs that are now in my library. My question is, how can I transfer the songs and videos on my ipod into my current itunes library without deleting the purchased items already in my library. So that when im done i will have the same songs on my ipod in my library, so then my ipod will be completely sync'd with the library and i will still have the new purchased items too. Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Then your iTunes must be looking at the removable disc, not your hard drive. Did you actually copy the songs onto your computer, or simply tell iTunes to look at the removable drive?
Highlight a song and click on File/Get Info/Summary>Where and check the location that iTunes has listed for the song. What does it say?

Buy an external optical drive such as the Apple USB SuperDrive that is made specifically for that model.
Use the optical drive of your old MBP to clone the DVDs to USB flash drives, then install from the flash drives.
Connect both computers to your local network and then share the optical drive to install the software.
