OLE Object Missing in PDF/HTML File

Hi,
I am storing excel sheet as an OLE object in database in Long Raw field. When i run report it shows that OLE object but when i try to convert it into PDF or HTML format it does not show that OLE object. Is there any workaround that we can use to store that excel sheet on users local drive?

Ole object missing on pdf file

i have long raw field in database. i am saving excel workbook in it through ole container. it displays well on report but when i generate pdf from report it miss ole field and show that portion of report blank. It exports ole object in postscript format (.eps) but i dont now any software which can open this file and show result on screen.
i am using developer 6i with oracle 9i database in client-server environment.

Hi,
we are using Flash CC an a dedicated windows server with two userprofiles. Each user has its own licence.
If we run a jsfl script singly, this script runs fine.
If we run the same jsfl script on both users we get the error:
"Embedding OLE objects is unsupported. Use File->Import to import media."
I read the article addItem() -> "Embedding OLE objects is unsupported" , but it could not the problem, because the script runs fine singly.
Could it be possible that both users uses the same Flash CC Clipboard ore are there any other shared modules etc?

Combine pdf + html files

Hello
I am familiar with how to combine several pdfs into one pdf, and I love the Bookmarks as a built-in navigation panel for my project.
Now I'm trying to integrate the next step.
My goal is a cd with 3 items in the navigation panel:
book 1 (from a pdf)
book 2 (from a pdf)
Genealogy
I have a folder with a bunch of HTML files, and sub-folders with other HTML files (they were all nicely generated by the genealogy software I use). I know that the primary file that runs the series of HTML files is called index.html
I can easily combine the 2 pdf files, and the index.html into 1 master pdf. But that seems inadequate; the other html files are not in the combined pdf, and the links from index.html to the other files die.
Should I be using Portfolio?

For the moment, I am not trying to create a site.
I am trying to put PDF files and a tree of HTML files/folders, all onto one CD
With a menu to navigate.
I have solved this by doing the following:
- on my desktop, I have a folder (eg, TEMP) which contains the pdf files, and the lead HTML file (INDEX.HTML) as well as its subordinates
- within that folder, I made a pdf that combined the multiple pdf files, and saved it (let's say I called it Menu.pdf)
- I opened the Menu.pdf file, and, in the BOOKMARK panel, I added a bookmark, whose action is to open the INDEX.HMTL file
- I burned the TEMP folder to a CD
The end result when I load the CD is that 2 items show up in Finder:
- Menu.pdf
- folder with my html hierarchy
When the user opens the Menu.pdf file, they Bookmark Navigation Panel gives them options like:
- History (which opens the Family History.pdf)
- Recipes (which opens the Family Recipes.pdf
- Genealogy (which opens the INDEX.HTML file within the folder, and the all the subordinates are linked properly)
Granted, I may not be explaining it with every nuance..... and it took me 5 CDs to get it the way I wanted it. But now it is exactly what I wanted, so that 's good!

Missing Certified PDF.api file

Acrobat 9 with Pitstop 8 running on OSX 9.2 displays the message Missing Certified PDF.api and fails to launch Pitstop. How do I remedy this problem?

RetriveGOS (generic object services)excel/pdf Attachment file records

Hi sap gurus ,
I have a requirement regarding retrive excel file from GOS of tcode migo into report output . For this requirement , i am using CL_BINARY_RELATION=>READ_LINKS and fm' SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1' ,but it is working fine to retrive for .ext file ,note .But when i am attaching excel or pdf file into the attachment ,it is not working to retrive its contents, so please help me.

OLE Object - Unknown Type

We modified a customer's Crystal Report to contain an OLE Object (a linked PDF) and it was working fine and updating perfectly. Recently the customer was having problems using the report. Looking at the report, once it opens it tries to update the PDF but we get this error "Some links could not be updated because their sources are presently unavailable". With this message we get a links button and when we look at that the PDF is now an unknown type.
Also now when we try to create a new report and insert an OLE Object like before, first off PDF is not in the Object Type list. and secondly it inserts it from a file as an icon if/if not the check box is checked.
Does anyone know what could have changed for OLE PDFs not to work anymore for us? Any help would be greatly appreciated in this.

Appears the DDE interpreter to handle PDF's has either been altered or AV software is blocking access now.
What happens if they simply double click on any PDF file?
Use ProcessMonitor to see what is happening, try running one of the reports and then look in the log for Access Denied errors.

In IE7 CLSID In HTML File Not Working With 1.4 and 1.5 Plugins Installed

I'm using JRE 1.4.2_03 with a CLSID attribute in my HTML file. It works fine with Internet Explorer 6. If I install a newer version of the JRE (i.e. 1.5.0) IE6 still uses the 1.4.2_03 plugin.
But, when we install Internet Explorer 7, IE ignores the CLSID in the HTML file and starts the 1.5.0 plugin.
Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, then how do I solve it?

Yes, I solved it by using this classid in the <OBJECT> tag in my HTML file:
classid = "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
The "FFFF" in the middle tells the IE browser to use the highest build of the major version of the JRE that you specifiy in the clsid. In the case of my example, above, the browser selects the highest build of JRE 1.4.2. But, the catch is that you have to install JRE 1.5.0 (I think it's 1.5.0_07) or later. Just install 1.5.0_11 and it will work. This may seem strange, but, for some reason, Sun didn't implment the fix in 1.4.

is expecting a protocol like http:, the likes, but how do

Create a file object for you local html file. Convert
this file to a URL object.
File htmlFile=new File(fileName);
URL myhtmlUrl=htmlFile.toURL();
Then you can use this URL object to display the html
page.

OLE object problem

I'm trying to make a report with OLE object in CR9 on XP Professional SP3. There is an image file "file_01.bmp". I place it in the report from "Insert"->"OLE Object" and chose "Create from file" with file path (not as icon, as image). But what I get in the report is black square with "file_01.bmp" caption below, and so in the report preview area. Double-clicking on it causes Object Packager warning.
What should I do to get an image (linked with a disk file) in report?

I am having a simular issue as well. I finally got this to work on my laptop (where I have Crystal XI installed). I can also access the report from another computer with Crystal Runtime installed and it does update the graphic file as well, however, I cannot get this to work on my desktop computer. I have temporarily installed Crystal XI on the desktop to test this. Both Laptop and desktop have windows XP SP3 and most of the same applications installed. Here is what happens:
1) When I open the report, I get a message "Some Links could not be updated becasue thier sources are presently unavailable"
2) If I select the Links button I get a dialog that shows me the .bmp file.
3) I then select the Open Source button and I get a message "Failed to launch server application"
4) I open the report again and this time I select the Change Source and a dialog comes up asking me to select the source file.
5) I then select the source file and I get this message "Invalid Source:Do you want to correct it?"
6) I then select the Yes button, but nothing happens
The bmp file was created with Paint and Paint is registered for bmp files.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Memory problem if OLE-object references to WMF files

Hi there,
I have a report with an OLE object containing WMFs.
The graphic files are variable and their name is loaded from the database during runtime (path + filename).
Running the report leads to 185 pages, each one containing a different WMF.
If I preview the report in CR, everything looks fine.
If I print the report, the OLE object / graphic is left empty....
If I export the report to PDF (as an example) I get the error message 'memory full'. Reducing the data set to ~50, the PDF is created. But the pictures get resized (much bigger) and only parts are visible.
The machine I'm using doesn't have any memory problems.
The WM files are only 3 to 12 KB each.
If I convert the WMFs to JPG and use these within the report it works...
Problem with this: a loss of quality (it is necessary to stretch the pictures to certain size)

Suppressing headers and footers in PDFs made from HTML files

When I convert a HTML file to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard, the PDF contains a footer (file path) and header (file name). I don't want these to appear in my PDF. I have disabled headers and footers in MSIE 8, but that has no effect. I can't deleted these objects from within Acrobat, unless I edit each page with the text touch up tool. Is there a way to suppress the header/footer? The subject HTML files came from another system. Thanks.

Insert Object (create from pdf file) in wordpad fails

Problem:
I am unable to insert object (create from existing pdf file) in wordpad application.
Environment:
OS: Windows 7 Professional + SP1 (64-bit)
Acrobat X (32-bit installer)
Procedure:
Open Wordpad application, click on 'Insert Object', choose 'Create from File', Browse and Select exsting pdf file, click 'Display As Icon' and Click 'Ok'
Expexted Result:
PDF should get inserted as OLE object to wordpad
Actual Result:
Error message "Failed to create object. Make sure the application is entered in the system registry."
Addition Notes:
I noticed that while insterting PDF (OLE object) it seach for certain registry key (AutoConvertTo) which is not available hence it fails.

Yes, I am aware. But this problem appears only when I insert PDF file (which is Adobe file).
I guess this has nothing to do specifically with 'wordpad' but I referenced known application from standard offiering. It happens with any 64-bit application using 'rich-edit' control (this is Microsoft too ) and allowing user to insert OLE objects.
I guess somewhere Adobe Acrobat installation fails to create required registry entries which are being referred by 64-bit applications while inserting PDF files as OLE objects.

Dynamic OLE object not displaying proper file

We are using CR IX R2. I have a report that I would like to attach a pdf to. This pdf will be different depending on the selection of data from the rest of the report. The file location is always the same but again the name of the file will vary.
The location and name of the file are listed in one field of a table. Is there a way to do this. When I edit the OLE object and select the field where the file resides it only shows the original document that I choose.
At this point I am testing it in a blank report before I create the subreport to add it to our existing report.
Any suggestions?

It should open the PDF Browser viewer. If it doesn't then you likely need to add PDF support to your browser. Or configure PDF or install the latest version. Could be a permission issue also.
