OMB Script - Run a process flow (OMBSTART) with input parameters.

I have a process flow with one input parameter : PF_SCHEMA_NAME. This is a string, literal value = false.
While running this from the OWB Control center UI, it prompts for value of parameter.
I need to execute this process flow using OMB script.

This gives following error:

Selective run in process flow

Hi all,
Can i run the process flow selectively? For example i have 10 activities in a process flow. I want to run only 3 of them when the process flow execute. is it possible to do? if possible then how can i do this? plzz help.

I defined the processflow. It has lets say 10 activities.
It ended up with error due to some error at 3rd activity. I would like to continue from 3rd activity withou doing the same process with the first 2 activities.

Yes, you just need a way for a current run to be able to check to see if the previous run completed as part of the code mentioned above to test for a "need to run this time" condition.
How to do that? Well, you could log to your own tables in standardized pre- and post-mapping procedures so you could check your own tables to see what ran successfully last time and not run them this time if the whole process flow did not complete.
Or, you could write code to mine the Runtime Repository views such as all_rt_audit_executions, all_rt_audit_map_runs, etc. to do the same thing.
The advantage over using your own tables is that you can engineer simplicity of logic, and also the runtime repository won't give you what you want if someone set the audit level to "none" for a given run.
I would also recommend including a variable in the process flow that is referenced by your conditional code which allows you to force a total rerun in cases where you want to do a full rebuild regardless of how the last run went.
That is how I do it, anyway. My process flows will restart automatically at point of failure on a subsequent run without any need for operator intervention besides calling to start it.

Running two Process Flows

Hi All,
I have created two different process flows and configured them with one scheduler is it a gud idea to schedule to process flows using a single scheduler job.

You can always utilize Oracle resource for parallel processing.
This will surely work but again this has a lot to do with your hardware configuration.
By saying Hardware Configuration, I mean to say the server capabilities.
Once I tried out running 2 process flow with single scheduler, but due to lower end server, there was no significant change in processing time.
Rather I should say, it took more time..

How to run a process flow in recovery mode

I have 10 Mappings in a Process Flow. While executing that process flow, All of sudden It got errored out at 5th mapping.
Please explain me how to run the process flow again from the 5th mapping( which got errored out in the previos run)....i.e I do not want to run the first 4 mappings in that process flow again, I want to run only the remaining mappings in the process flow.

Running of process flow does not show any Active session in Database

Hi Team,
I am running a process flow in OWB 11g ( From Design Center ) which is having around 100 maps within it. However, from Control Center I can see the Process Flow is running ( i.e. Green check is visible beside the process flow) but when I run SQL query in backend database ; I am unable to see any running object ( i.e. OWB map name as package object) there corresponding to this Process Flow
I am running the below query to check the availability of running session :-
SELECT A.LOGON_TIME,A.SID,B.OBJECT_NAME,A.*
FROM gv$session A, dba_objects B
WHERE A.PLSQL_ENTRY_OBJECT_ID = B.OBJECT_ID
AND A.STATUS = 'ACTIVE'
Could you please suggest if this is something wrong in the development of the Process Flow or we can`t see any running map there in backend when we execute any process flow from OWB ?

I am trying to call a graphical calculation view with input parameters from a script based calculation view as below but getting syntax error:
SESSION_SAMPLE = SELECT SESSION_CREATE_DATE,SHA256,CA_MEASURE
                             FROM "_SYS_BIC"."WILDFIRE/CV_SESSION_SAMPLE"
                             WITH PARAMETERS ('PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_START_DATE$$',:START_DATE),
                                 'PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_END_DATE$$',:END_DATE));
START_DATE and END_DATE are input parameters of the script based calculation view.
Can anyone please help me with the correct syntax for accomplishing this?

Error when using Analytic view with Input Parameters

Hi,
I am trying to create an info space based on my Analytic view which has input parameters. The infospace is validated and indexed without any issue. However when I ran the view, I get an error (50011) as it is unable to fetch any results. I tried using an infospace based on Calculation view with input parameters and the explorer view works without any issue.
Has anyone faced similar issues?
We are using HANA SP 6 rev 67 and BI 4.0 SP 4.
Also is there a way to enable input prompts for the users when they refresh the BO Explorer view? If not currently available is there any work around ?

Hello George,
I don't have any personalization set on the info space. Also I am using mapped Account in BI to connect to HANA. The confusing part is that it is able to validate the infospace with the input parameters and index it. However query does not return any results. I even tried running the same query which explorer sends to HANA in the SQL editor and there too the same results,the query does not return anything. The model does return data when I do a data preview and if accessed from other tools like AAO.
Also when I use SSO connection to HANA, indexing of the infospace fails. Where can I see the error log?

1. Can we call a CDS View (or generated database view) with input parameters inside an AMDP? I am looking for something similar to the feature in HANA where we can consume calculation view with filters inside SQL Script?

I get the below error that the CDS View's generated table function cannot take field from AMDP.
I have a requirement to query the CDS View using 2 timestamps (start & end). So, in AMDP I have used the TIME_STAMP and try to pass it to the CDS View

How to write XSJS Select Query with input parameters

I am creating a xsjs file and in that file I am trying to write a Select Query based on a Calculation View
I have tried it the following way:

Mixed spaces and tabs has nothing to do with the syntax of the statement. You used both spaces and the tab in the content - which JSLint doesn't like. Remove the beginning spaces of each line and use only one or the other.
The actual syntax of your statement doesn't look right. The problem is that you are escaping the \ when you don't need to if you are using ' instead of " for your string. You escape with \" in the first line but then escape with \' in the 2nd and 3rd line. That is going to cause serious parsing problems with the command.

Calculated view with input parameters

Hello there.
I've created a calculated view with input parameters, which I am going to call it 'VIEW_A'.
This view has been working just fine.
But now I have to create another calculated view and import the last one(VIEW_A) in a projection.
But I got a error when trying to see the data content.
It says :
Error: SAP DBTech JDBC: [2048]: column store error: search table error: [6968] Evaluator: syntax error in expression string;expected TK_ID,parsing '"DT_DOC_MES_ANO" >= [here]and "DT_DOC_MES_ANO" <='
At the 'Problems' panel it says the all the input parameters are unmapped.
What Am I doing wrong? Sorry but I am kind new at SAP world.

into database with sqlldr in owb process flow. In owb process flow, I use the external process to run the sqlldr file with following configuration:

our developers were getting this error code just the other day. They are using "sqlplus_exec_template" script to initiate these things. In our case, I had to do two thing:
1) Modify their "initiator" script (the one that connects to runtime access user, and then calls "template") - it has to use tns connectivity "user/passwd@service_name"
2) Create TNS entry (server side) for the "service_name" above.
Now these SQL*LOADER mappings run successfully.

How to specify the Process Flow Module with SQLPLUS_EXEC_TEMPLATE.SQL ?

Hi, we have a couple of process flow modules that have PF Packages and Process Flows with the same name.
E.g
PFMOD1 (Module)
FILELOAD (Package)
PF1 (Pf)
PFMOD2 (Module)
FILELOAD (Package)
PF1 (Pf)
Normally we can specify "FILELOAD/PF1" as a paramater to the procedure SQLPLUS_EXEC_TEMPLATE.SQL in order to initiate the running of an OWB process flow but how can the system distinguish between modules ?
Anyone done this ?

If you deployed the packages to the same location then the second deployment replaced the result of the first one (actually a new version of the process flow was created). You can execute only the latest version...

How to capture the errors which occured inside the SQL Scripts.
My scenario is like this. I have two sql scripts Script_1.sql and Script2.sql namely. I would like to put dependency on the execution of the scripts.
If Script_1.sql executes succesfully without any errors, then EXECUTE Script_2.sql
else if Script_1.sql execution contains errors then DON'T EXECUTE Script_2.sql
As of now, i observed that the Process flow shows Success State even if there is an error in the sql script execution. Because of which i was not able to put dependency on the execution of the scripts.
I think i can do it by tweaking(changing) the code inside the SQL Scripts, like logging the errors in some log table and reading it before the next script execution.
But the restriction is, I Should not touch/change the existing SQL Scripts.
Do we have any mechanism in the ProcessFlows to identify the SQL Errors that occurred during execution of SQL Scripts ?
Please suggest any idea on this. It will be great if you can help in this.
