On my mac, I'm not prompted to drag the firefox icon into the applications folder on the dock. It seems to be in limbo. What do I do?

I'm trying to download the latest firefox version as I was having problems with a certain website. I seem to be stuck half -way through the download.

Just installed Firefox 7.0.1 on a Mac running OSX 10.6.8 - the installation Disc icon remians on the desktop and each time I launch, Firefox opens a window asking me to drag the Firefox icon to my Applications folder. How do I get this to go away?

I have installed the application to my applications folder and everything else is working perfectly. But normally, after you've installed a browser, the istallation disk icon that appears on your desktop can be ejected or deleted without detriment. Mine keeps coming back...

You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

I don't know how to go to applications without losing moxilla website in order to transfer the moxilla icon into my applications. I could do it in the dell computer but not able to swing it with the Mac. it's totally different system.

Trying to upgrade to latest version of Firefox as recommended. Have downloaded file as directed. Then nothing happens. Tried to add troubleshooter and got: "Troubleshooter 1.1a could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6."

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Follow-up to earlier question; you asked me by email to confirm that I asked a question. I did. The question was: if I don't get a prompt to drag the ff icon into my Applications file, how do I do so?

I downloaded the latest version of Firefox as requested. I was told to drag the icon to my Application file when prompted. The download was successful, but I never got the prompt. And so I still have the old version of Firefox (3.6.24) and the home page still tells me I'm using an out-dated version. So what do I do?

I try to drag the new icon to my applications folder, as instructed. When I'm asked if I want to replace the older version, I say yes, but I get an error message saying that it can't because FireFox is open. But it isn't! help. Mac OS 10 system. Jerry

The DMG (disk image) file is the Firefox installation file that you can download from the Mozilla site and save to your desktop. You can double click that file to open the image.
From [[Installing Firefox on Mac]]:
* Once the download has completed, the disk image may open by itself and mount a new volume which contains the Firefox application. If you do not see the new volume, double-click the Firefox dmg icon to open it.
* A Finder window appears, containing the Firefox application. Drag the Firefox Icon into the Applications folder.

The download Firefox page said a Firefox icon would appear to drag into the Application folder and from there I should drag it onto my Icon bar. I downloaded 5.0 but no icon is appearing on my screen to drag to Applications? I have a Mac computer and have been running Firefox for quite some time. It turns out that the problem had to do with network accounts, even though it was not clear at first. Redirecting the program to the local machine's cache with a network home redirector script fixed the issue. Thanks anyway.

It's strange. The problem apparently resolved itself after I ran TechTool on it. When I clicked on Firefox last night, I had no problem opening a window. Thanks for your help. (As to your previous post, the focus was on Firefox and neither the speed keys nor the menu bar would open a window or tab of allow me to enter a URL to open a window. Strange!)

I was asked to update my Foxfire which I did but at one point it said I would be prompted to move the Foxfire icon into the applications folder and I was never prompted to do so, therefore I do not know what to do next.

The new Foxfire version was downloaded into my download folder but I was never prompted, as it said I would be , so move the Foxfire icon into the applications folder. Outside of the contact number for that you've already used I don't know another way of direct contact. Here are some things that they may or may not of had you try that might help you. If you will go to the settings app and pick general on the right-hand side you will see accessibility. Within that you can adjust a text size make the text bowl you can also increase the contrast. You can also adjust the brightness and control panel.
As for Siri again in the settings app under general you should see Siri on the right-hand side with the switch to turn it on. If that is turned on and you're still having issues
Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
