One query on Checkpoint process
Hi All,
Could anyone please tell me what is the significance of checkpoint process or any other mandatory processes at database mount stage. Appreciate if you refer me any doc on this subject.
Thanks in advance
Shaan
Thanks to both the above comments.
I did think about the data clustering but I kept
coming back to why the optimizer on 'A' said "I want
a full table scan" and 'B' says, "oh hey, there's an
index, I'll use that".This has nothing to do with clustering data.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/statviews_1069.htm#i1578369 - look for 'Clustering Factor'
Also see Note:39836.1
IN a nutshell - it tells the system how bad an index could be when considering the organization of the table. A table (not index) reorg could easily change the clustering factor, give the same index for the same table with exactly the same data (but different row order) a completely different value.

Reg: SQL select Query in BPEL process flow
<p>
Hi,
I am suppose to execute a SQL select query (in BPEL Process flow) as mention below in JDeveloper using Database adapter.
</p>
<p>
SELECT LENGTH, WIDTH, HEIGHT, WEIGHT,
</p>
<p>
LENGTH*WIDTH* HEIGHT AS ITEM_CUBE
</p>
<p>
FROM CUBE
</p>
<p>
WHERE ITEM= <xyz>
</p>
<p>
AND OBJECT= (SELECT CASE_NAME FROM CUBE_SUPPLIER WHERE ITEM=<xyz> AND SUPP_IND = ‘Y')
<strong>Now my question is:
1.</strong> What does this "*" refer to in the query and how can I retrieve the value of LENGTH*WIDTH* HEIGHT from the query where LENGTH,WIDTH and HEIGHT are the individual field in the table.
2.What does this " AS" refer to? If " ITEM_CUBE " is the alies for the table name "ITEM" to retrieve the value, then query shoud be evaluated as
</p>
<p>
SELECT LENGTH, WIDTH, HEIGHT, WEIGHT,
</p>
<p>
LENGTH*WIDTH* HEIGHT AS ITEM_CUBE
</p>
<p>
FROM CUBE
</p>
<p>
WHERE <strong>ITEM_CUBE.ITEM</strong>= <xyz>
</p>
<p>
AND <strong>ITEM_CUBE.OBJECT</strong>= (SELECT CASE_NAME FROM CUBE_SUPPLIER WHERE ITEM=<xyz> AND SUPP_IND = ‘Y')
Is my assumption correct?
Please suggest asap.
Thanks...
</p>
<p>
</p>Hi
Thank for your reply!
I have a nested select query which performs on two different table as shown below:
<p>
SELECT LENGTH, WIDTH, HEIGHT, WEIGHT,
</p>
<p>
LENGTH*WIDTH* HEIGHT AS ITEM_CUBE
</p>
<p>
FROM CUBE
</p>
<p>
WHERE ITEM= <abc>
</p>
<p>
AND OBJECT= (SELECT NAME FROM SUPPLIER WHERE ITEM=<Item> AND SUPP_IND = ‘Y')
I am using DB adapter of Oracle JDeveloper in BPEL process flow, where I can able to select only one master table in DB adapter say SUPPLIER and its attributes at a time.But as per my requirment I need to select both the table (CUBE and SUPPLIER) in a single adapter to execute my query.
It can be achievable by using two DB adapter , One to execute the nested query and another to execute the main qyery considering value of nested query as a parameter.But I want to achieve it by using a single one.
Am I correct with my concept?
Please suggest how to get it ?

Multiple charts with one Query - how to?
Hi Experts,
I wanted to display mulitple charts from the one query in Bex analyzer or WAD. Each chart should be constructed from the data of each column returned from the query. So if the no. of columns in the query is 5 then there should be 5 charts generated. No of columns will be variable. How to achieve it ?? Any idea?
All kinds of suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Regards
ABHi Priya,
Thanks for your response. Actually the infomation is of technical in nature. Its about processes and the parts. Rows represents parts and columns represent processes. The processes are variable and can be added any time in query.Based on the Query there should be automation of charts. So there is an analysis per process/parts with a single chart. So if the processes are increasing , the automation should also add a chart....thats what the requirement says. So if I have 10 process that I shd get 10 charts and if 15 afterwards then 15....
I hope now its clear to you.Do suggest if u have any idea.

Web Browser Session Hangs When Opening More Than One Query
Let me start off with the BW environment - we are on BW release 3.50 at support pack level 12. Basis component is release 6.40 at level 12.
We have a situation where a web browser HTTP session "hangs" while trying to execute more than one query at a time. A role based menu template is used by our end-users to run queries. The end-users execute a query and while it is running, try to execute a second query. But the web browser for the second query does not become available until the first query is complete.
The following is the detailed steps of the process:
1. From my user menu in BW, expand the folder for Role Z: BW_REPORTING and click on SAP_BW_TEMPLATE Web_Role_Menu. Web browser window will open.
2. Within the ZTPL_Role_Menu_Reporting web page, select Role Z: FUNC_DEVELOPER > BW Reporting > Controlling > Profitability Analysis > Detail query. (Role Z: FUNC_TESTER can be used in this example as well, just follow the same menu path). Click on Detail and another web browser window will open for the query selection screen.
3. On the selection screen for the CO-PA Detail query, enter values and execute the query.
4. While the CO-PA Detail query is executing, go back to the first opened web browser for ZTPL_Role_Menu_Reporting and go to Role Z: FUNC_DEVELOPER > BW Reporting > Controlling > Profitability Analysis > Operating Concern query. Run the CO-PA Operating Concern query while the CO-PA Detail query is still executing. The session for the Operating Concern hangs and does not display the selection screen until the CO-PA Detail query has completed. Once the Detail query has finished, then the second query, CO-PA Operating Concern will then display the selection screen for the query.
Our end-users expect the second query to display the selection screen immediately with no delay. The end-users do not want to wait for the selection screen of the second query. They want to be able to execute the queries simultaneously.
Our Basis group as tried adjusting some parameters and has implemented OSS note 853396, but the issue still exists.
Is it a BW issue or is it an issue with MS Internet Explorer?
Your input and suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.Hi.
I had a somewhat similar issue earlier when I tried closing BW Query windows, it would freeze and wouldn't close. I resolved the issue by turning off some BHO (Browser help Objects) in IE.It can be done using IE>Tools>Manage Add-Ons

How to stop specific query attached with other query in same process using With method
Would it be possible to stop one query out of two queries attached to single process...because i see it is returning one IDisposable inteface...if i call dispose() method...two queries are stopped/killed...
So how to stop specific query which is combined with other queries in a same process at runtime i.e., attach or detach kind of thing?
Thanks in advance
SatishYes, the overloading of the term "Process" can be confusing. In SI, depending on your edition of StreamInsight, a process can run on one or more threads from a pool of threads and are scheduled together. Don't think of a process necessarily as a single
thread or multiple processes as a method of multi-threading.
As for a limit on the number of queries, there isn't a hard limit that I'm aware of. However, there will be a practical limit that will vary based on the complexity of the query, the event rate and your hardware (# of cores). If you are using Standard Edition,
this limit is much smaller as you only have a single scheduler thread. With Premium Edition, you have a scheduler thread for each core on the machine so you can get higher throughput and lower latency. But if you have, say, 4 cores on the machine (don't count
hyperthreaded cores, just real cores), 100 queries and a target throughput of 100K events/second, you'll likely have some problems. At 1K events/sec, you'd likely be fine though. With 32 cores and Premium Edition, you'd probably be OK with 100K events/sec.
So ... like I said, it depends.

Can we use Lookup function twice in one query ??
Cause in the Log file, I only see the last lookup query.
Or Any Suggesion for this case ?
Here's the sample :

*XDIM_MEMBERSET PROCESS = %PRMFGList%
*LOOKUP FINANCE
*DIM SalesQty:OTHERS = PROCESS.SFG
*DIM SalesQty:TPDTLS = TPDTLS.ID
*DIM SalesQty:TPYEARS = TPYEARS.ID
*DIM SalesQty:CATEGORY = CATEGORY.ID
*DIM SalesQty:TIME = TIME.ID
*ENDLOOKUP
*LOOKUP FINANCE
*DIM LotSize:OTHERS = PROCESS.SFG
*DIM LotSize:TPDTLS = TPDTLS.ID
*DIM LotSize:TPYEARS = TPYEARS.ID
*DIM LotSize:CATEGORY = CATEGORY.ID
*DIM LotSize:TIME = TIME.ID
*ENDLOOKUP
*WHEN Account.ID
*IS "Qty"
*REC(FACTOR=-(LOOKUP(SalesQty)/LOOKUP(LotSize)),ACCOUNT=QtyRMUsage)
*ENDWHEN
*COMMITHi Ari,
I've faced the same problem, and never found a solution that allowed for 2 lookups. I believe that only one is supported (although I never saw this confirmed in any documentation). With that limitation in mind, you need to choose your LOOKUP carefully, and then use an expanded source data region to load in whatever else you need in your calc. For whatever you can't LOOKUP, you'll need to GET.
In that case, consider using xdim_noscan to only process the records you want. This helps get around the single LOOKUP limitation.
In your example here, however, it looks like you can get both of these values in a single lookup. It's not clear to me what differentiates the SalesQty and LotSize (they seem to be the same thing), but I'll assume these are two members in your Account dimension.
Also, note that if you're not re-directing a particular dimension to a different member, you can just omit it from the LOOKUP. This would apply to your TPDTLS, TPYEARS, CATEGORY, and TIME, if I read your code correctly.
In that case, you could do this:
*SELECT(%PRMFGList%,"ID","PROCESS","SFG_Pos='P'")
*XDIM_MEMBERSET PROCESS = %PRMFGList%
// this may make the logic run faster
*XDIM_MEMBER Account = Qty
*LOOKUP FINANCE
*DIM SalesQty:Account = SalesQty
*DIM SalesQty:OTHERS = PROCESS.SFG
*DIM LotSize:Account = LotSize
*DIM LotSize:OTHERS = PROCESS.SFG
*ENDLOOKUP
*WHEN Account.ID
*IS "Qty"
// or possibly you can just use *When * *is *
*REC(FACTOR=-(LOOKUP(SalesQty)/LOOKUP(LotSize)),ACCOUNT=QtyRMUsage)
*ENDWHEN
*COMMIT -
Slow Query Performance During Process Of SSAS Tabular
As part of My SSAS Tabular Process Script Task in a SSIS Package, I read all new rows from the database and insert them to Tabular database using Process Add. The process works fine but for the duration of the Process Add, user queries to my Tabular model
becomes very slow.
Is there a way to prevent the impact of Process Add on user queries? Users need near real time queries.
I am using SQL Server 2012 SP2.
ThanksHi AL.M,
According to your description, when you query the tabular during Process Add, the performance is slow. Right?
In Analysis Services, it's not supported to make a MDX/DAX query ignore the Process Add of the tabular. it will always query the updated tabular. In this scenario, if you really need good query performance, I suggest you create two tabular.
One is for end users to get data, the other one is used for update(full process). After the Process is done, let the users query the updated tabular.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Simon Hou

Can you check for data in one table or another but not both in one query?
I have a situation where I need to link two tables together but the data may be in another (archive) table or different records are in both but I want the latest record from either table:
ACCOUNT
AccountID Name
123 John Doe
124 Jane Donaldson
125 Harold Douglas
MARKETER_ACCOUNT
Key AccountID Marketer StartDate EndDate
1001 123 10526 8/3/2008 9/27/2009
1017 123 10987 9/28/2009 12/31/4712 (high date ~ which means currently with this marketer)
1023 124 10541 12/03/2010 12/31/4712
ARCHIVE
Key AccountID Marketer StartDate EndDate
1015 124 10526 8/3/2008 12/02/2010
1033 125 10987 01/01/2011 01/31/2012
So my query needs to return the following:
123 John Doe 10526 8/3/2008 9/27/2009
124 Jane Donaldson 10541 12/03/2010 12/31/4712 (this is the later of the two records for this account between archive and marketer_account tables)
125 Harold Douglas 10987 01/01/2011 01/31/2012 (he is only in archive, so get this record)
I'm unsure how to proceed in one query. Note that I am reading in possibly multiple accounts at a time and returning a collection back to .net
open CURSOR_ACCT
select AccountID

ACCOUNT A,
MARKETER_ACCOUNT M,

and upper(A.Name) like parameter || '%'
<can you do a NVL like this? probably not... I want to be able to get the MAX record for that account off the MarketerACcount table OR the max record for that account off the Archive table, but not both>
(parameter could be "DO", so I return all names starting with DO...)if I understand your description I would assume that for John Dow we would expect the second row from marketer_account ("high date ~ which means currently with this marketer"). Here is a solution with analytic functions:

If your tables are big it could be necessary to do the filtering (according to your condition) in an early step (the first CTE).

In oracle rac, If user query a select query and in processing data is fetched but in the duration of fetching the particular node is evicted then how failover to another node internally?
The query is re-issued as a flashback query and the client process can continue to fetch from the cursor. This is described in the Net Services Administrators Guide, the section on Transparent Application Failover.

Grouped and non-grouped SELECT in one query: help!
look first at: Wrong result when I use CASE on this forum. Here I wanted to get the user who created and the user who solved a problem (Lets call it Validation Error from now on (VE)).
The thing is: I already have a query who returns me lots of information about a VE.
The query in the previous thread returned me additional info about that VE (that is the creating_user and the solving_user). The 1st query is no group select, but the second is! Still, I need to combine those two in one query.
1st query:
select ve.seq,
max((case vah.action when 'C' then vah.ur_code else null end)) created,
max((case vah.action when 'S' then vah.ur_code else null end)) solved
from validation_errors ve
left outer join ver_action_histories vah
on (ve.seq = vah.ver_seq AND ve.log_date = vah.ver_log_date)
where ve.seq = 12860687
group by ve.seq;Result:
seq | created | solved
12860687 Bob Bobdont mind the "where"-clause, it is just to make the query go faster
what I do is: I join the VE with the ver_action_histories table which contains the users and what action they performed on a VE.
Now I just want to add that information to the results of an other query which also returns lots of information about a VE.
2nd query:
select ve.seq "VE seq", mh.seq "Counter seq",
ve.log_date, ve.solve_date, ve.solved Status, ve.failure_code, ve.mde_code,
mh.meter_type,
iv.mr_type, iv.mr_reason,
ih.mmr_seq
from validation_errors ve
inner join meter_histories mh
on (ve.mhy_seq = mh.seq)
left outer join index_values iv
on (ve.mhy_seq = iv.mhy_seq AND ve.log_date =iv.timestamp)
left outer join index_histories ih
on (ve.mhy_seq = ih.ive_mhy_seq)
where ve.seq = 8653936
and sysdate >= mh.start_date
and sysdate < mh.end_date;dont mind the "where" and "and"-clauses ... I hope the result of this query will simplify things ...
Result:
seq | counter seq | log_date | solved_date | status | failure_code | ...

I just want the results of the first query (creating_user and solving_user) to be added as columns to the second result. Performance is very important. Please tell me that its possible?

seq | counter seq | log_date | solved_date | status | failure_code | created | solved | ...

Convert data link between one query's group and another querys group to SQL
Hi
I have a report where there are 2 query Groups. These 2 query groups r linked by data link. How do i combine these queries to One query so i can use it as a SQL query.
ThanksHi,
Assume that we have two queries Q1 and Q2 and the common column between the two queries is "comn".
Now we can convert the datalink into SQL as follows:-
SELECT *
FROM
(Query for Q1)a,
(Query for Q2)b
WHERE a.comn=b.comn(+)
Note: "a" and "b" are alias names for Q1 and Q2. -
Crystal Report Many to One Query Config error when using DataSet.ReadXML me
When I build a dataset with this method numerous relations are automatically created. I then map these fields onto crystal reports with ADO.net data connection. However when I run the report the following error occurs:
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.InternalException: Cannot determine the queries necessary to get data for this report.Details:
This query cannot be performed. The link order requires many to one query configuration, which is not supported. Please rearrange the links.
If I remove the links (relations) i get duplicate data on the report. Is there any way to resolve this or a patch for the error?Hello, Mervin;
Since you are using ADO.NET dataset, is it possible to get all of the fields you need in one SQL Query outside of Crystal Reports?
If that is possible, you can use that dataset to create an XML or XSD file to use as the structure for your report.
VB
'Using the full path to the .xml file, include the schema
dataSet.WriteXml("C:\temp\test.xml", XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
or
dataSet.WriteXmlSchema("c:\temp\testXML.xsd")
Now create a new report with the ADO.NET(XML) connection and point to either the XML or XSD you created. XML is useful because you can view data in the report designer for final formatting of the report.
Now there is only one datasource and no linking is required in Crystal Reports. That should resolve the one to many issue.
Another useful tool is to group on the many and place all the fields normally in the detail section into that group header. Suppress the Detail and Group footer sections. The Group Header will now look like a Detail section and each distinct value will only appear once. You can group on one field or a combination (using a formula field) to get the results you need. Test this to be sure you do not miss anything you want to see.

Anybody have any idea where the error is ?
Any help will be appreciated
AlexYou are right !!
The problem is inside the report generated by Oracle Reports
The XML code, which I retrieve running the report request is the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>
- <!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.20.2
-->
- <MODULE1>
- <LIST_G_MANAGER_NO>
- <G_MANAGER_NO>
<MANAGER_NO>1000</MANAGER_NO>
<MANAGER_NAME>Anil Passi</MANAGER_NAME>
</G_MANAGER_NO>
- <G_MANAGER_NO>
<MANAGER_NO>1001</MANAGER_NO>
<MANAGER_NAME>Martin</MANAGER_NAME>
</G_MANAGER_NO>
</LIST_G_MANAGER_NO>
</MODULE1>
and the problem is the "&" !!!
So, inside Oracle Reports, when I try to generate the XML code from a preexisting report, the encoding variable is not set.
Now, I'm trying to understand how to set it, but I didn't find nothing....
Somebody knows where can I find a Report's configuration file in order to set this "encoding" ?
Thanks
Alex
