  • Stepping through a query result set, replacing one string with another.

    I want to write a function that replaces the occurance of a string with another different string.  I need it to be a CF fuction that is callable from another CF function.  I want to "hand" this function an SQL statement (a string) like this:   (Please note, don't bother commenting that "there are eaiser ways to write this SQL..., I've made this simple example to get to the point where I need help.  I have to use a "sub_optimal" SQL syntax just to demonstrate the situation)
    Here is the string I want to pass to the function:
    SELECT
      [VERYLONGTABLENAME].FIRST_NAME,
      [VERYLONGTABLENAME].LAST_NAME,
      [VERYLONGTABLENAME].ADDRESSS
    FROM
      LONGTABLENAME [VERYLONGTABLENAME]
    Here is the contents of the ABRV table:
    TBL_NM,  ABRV    <!--- Header row--->
    VERYLONGTABLENAME, VLTN
    SOMEWHATLONGTALBENAME, SLTN
    MYTABLENAME, MTN
    ATABLENAME, ATN
    The function will return the original string, but with the abreviations in place of the long table names, example:
    SELECT
      VLTN.FIRST_NAME,
      VLTN.LAST_NAME,
      VLTN.ADDRESSS
    FROM
      LONGTABLENAME VLTN
    Notice that only the table names surrounded by brackets and that match a value in the ABRV table have been replaced.  The LONGTABLENAME immediately following the FROM is left as is.
    Now, here is my dum amatuer attempt at writing said function:  Please look at the comment lines for where I need help.

    One:
    <cfset var output_str="#txt#">  <!--- I'm creating a local
    variable so I can manipulate the data handed in by the TXT parameter.
    Is this necessary or can I just use the txt parameter? --->
    No you do not need to create a local variable that is a copy of the arguments variable as the arguments scope is already local to the function, but you do not properly reference the arguments scope, so you leave yourself open to using a 'txt' variable in another scope.  Thus the better practice would be to reference "arguments.txt" where you need to.
    Two:
    I know what I want to happen, I know how to make it happen in another programming language, just not CF9.
    Then a better start would be to descirbe what you want to happen and give a simple example in the other programming language.  Most of us are muti-lingual and can parse out clear and clean code in just about any syntax.
    Three:
    <cfloop index="idx_str" list="#qAbrvs#">      <!--- Is this correct?  I think not. --->
    I think you want to be looping over your "qAbrvs" record set returned by your earlier query, maybe.
    <cfloop query="qAbrvs">
    Four:
    <cfset output_str = Replace(output_str, "#idx_str#", )  <!--- Is this correct?  I think not. --->
    Continuing on that assumption I would guess you want to replace each instance of the long string with the short string form that record set.
    <cfset output_str = Replace(output_str,qAbrs.TBLNM,qAbrs.ABRV,"ALL")>
    Five:
    </cfloop>               <!--- What am I looping on?  What is the index? How do I do the string replacement? --->
    If this is true, then you are looping over the record set of tablenames and abreviations that you want to replace in the string.

  • Check if a string contains another string

    can anybody help?
    String st="DC";
    how can i check if another string contains "DC" or not?

    How bout

         //someString contains st at some point
    }

  • How do I find one string inside another?

    I've been looking through the documentation, but have yet to find what I need. While I keep looking, maybe someone here has a good idea...
    I have a TreeSet of Strings ts = { "foo", "bar", "green car" }, and another String s = "this is my new green car". I need to identify which Strings from ts are present inside s.
    Current idea:
    String s = "this is my new green car";
    boolean bFoundOne = false;
    Iterator iter = ts.iterator();
    while(iter.hasNext() && !bFoundOne)
    bFoundOne = Contains(s, iter.next());
    boolean Contains(String sMaster, sCompare)
    // what goes here???

    Ah, yes! That's it! It would have to be something so simple... I was reading about java.text.collate and things like this. ;)

  • Replaces all occurnces of one String with another String in a given source

    Hi all I had found that there is a lot of interest int this topic. there is a little piece of code that I wrote for myself recently, so I fgigured that it might be helpful for some...
    This method will scan through a string "source", find all of the occurances of a String "before" and replace them with the "after".
    Enjoy :-)
    public static String replace(String source, String before, String after)
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(source);
    int startpos = source.indexOf(before);
    int endpos = startpos + before.length();
    int i = startpos;
    while( i > -1 )
         if( startpos > -1 && endpos <= source.length() )
         source = sb.replace(startpos, endpos, after).toString();
         int lastReplace = source.lastIndexOf(after) + after.length();
         if(lastReplace <= source.length())
              startpos = source.substring(lastReplace, source.length() ).indexOf(before);
                   endpos = startpos + before.length();
                   i = startpos;
         else
              i = source.length();
         else
              i = -1;
    return source;

  • Function to fade audio smoothly from one level to another in AS2

    Greetings all.
    I'm a newcomer to Actionscript programming and trying to modify a Flash site template downloaded from TemplateMonster.com (which is an AS2 template).  I've almost succeeded at what I need to do but have run into a couple of brick walls.  One is that I've added a video player to the site and need to make the background music track smoothly fade out when the video starts and fade back in when it ends (or is stopped).  I set up a listener object for the video player that works.  It's the smooth fade of audio levels that doesn't.
    I found an excellent thread from last year (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3236495) in which kglad address the issue of fading audio from one level to another.  Since TemplateMonster's templates set up a master movie clip and then load pages to play within it, and I need to call the function from within the pages, I tried setting it up as a global function.
    So when the overall site initializes, I have this:
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("mcMusictrackHolder", this.getNextHighestDepth());
    var sndAudio:Sound = new Sound(mcMusictrackHolder);
    var nMaxMusicVolume:Number = new Number(mcMusictrackHolder);
    nMaxMusicVolume = 30;
    sndAudio.attachSound("MusicTrack");
    sndAudio.setVolume(nMaxMusicVolume);
    sndAudio.start(0,9999);
    // Here is kglad's function converted to a global function
    _global.fadeSoundF = function(mc:MovieClip,s:Sound,vol:Number,sec:Number):Void
         trace("Getting here with sound at " + s.getVolume());
         clearInterval(mc.fadeI);
         var volumeInc:Number = vol-s.getVolume()/(10*sec);
         mc.fadeI=setInterval(fadeF,100,mc,s,volumeInc,vol);
         trace("Leaving with sound at " + s.getVolume());
    function fadeF(mc:MovieClip,s:Sound,inc:Number,endVol:Number):Void
         s.setVolume(s.getVolume()+inc);
         if(Math.abs(s.getVolume-endVol)<inc)
              clearInterval(mc.fadeI);
    Then within the page that contains the video player (a child of the above), I have this:
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    var sCurrentState:String;
    listenerObject.stateChange = function(eventObject:Object):Void
    sCurrentState = my_FLVPlybk.state;
    if (sCurrentState == "playing")
      fadeSoundF(_root.mcMusictrackHolder,_root.sndAudio,0,1);
    else
      fadeSoundF(_root.mcMusictrackHolder,_root.sndAudio,_root.nMaxMusicVolume,1);
    my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("stateChange", listenerObject);
    The listener object is working fine - so if instead of calling fadeSoundF I simply do _root.sndAudio.setvolume(0) to mute and _root.sndAudio.setvolume(30) to restore it works fine except that the volume changes abruptly instead of ramping.
    But obviously there's a problem with my effort to convert kglad's function to global and use it that way, because the trace statements tell me the audio is getting set to random levels.  It smoothly ramps all right - but tries to get to -472 or +8212 or other insane numbers.
    Any help with where I'm going wrong would be deeply appreciated.  Keep in mind that although I have some long-ago programming experience in other languages, this environment is completely alien to me and you can feel free to assume I'm completely ignorant.  What I've managed to piece together is largely pulled from online research, which is why there's probably an obvious glaring error in there.  Feel free to provide a response that assumes I know nothing.
    Best,
    Pete

    I added a few more traces.  Here's the new main page:
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("mcMusictrackHolder", this.getNextHighestDepth());
    var sndAudio:Sound = new Sound(mcMusictrackHolder);
    var nMaxMusicVolume:Number = 30;
    sndAudio.attachSound("MusicTrack");
    sndAudio.setVolume(nMaxMusicVolume);
    sndAudio.start(0,99999);
    _global.fadeSoundF = function(mc:MovieClip,s:Sound,vol:Number,sec:Number):Void
              trace("Getting here with level at " + sndAudio.getVolume());
              trace("asking to set it to " + vol + " in " + sec + " second(s).");
              clearInterval(mc.fadeI);
              var volumeInc:Number = vol-s.getVolume()/(10*sec);
              mc.fadeI=setInterval(fadeF,100,mc,s,volumeInc,vol);
              trace("Leaving with sound at " + sndAudio.getVolume());
              trace(" ");
    function fadeF(mc:MovieClip,s:Sound,inc:Number,endVol:Number):Void
              s.setVolume(s.getVolume()+inc);
              if(Math.abs(s.getVolume-endVol)<inc)
                        clearInterval(mc.fadeI);
    Here's sample trace output:
    Getting here with level at 30                  <---- this is on first visiting the page where the listener object initializes and asks it to ramp the audio from its
    asking to set it to 30 in 1 second(s).             current level to the same level (probably because the video is buffering or rewinding and that counts as a state change).
    Leaving with sound at 30
    Getting here with level at 111                <---- this is a second triggering of the function (probably because the video is STOPPED and that counts as a
    asking to set it to 30 in 1 second(s).            state change after buffering).  As of yet the video hasn't been asked to play.
    Leaving with sound at 111
    Getting here with level at 3765               <---- This is what happens when the video is asked to play; since it is asking to leave the level at 30 I'm guessing it is buffering
    asking to set it to 30 in 1 second(s).              again but not playing yet, which is why it's still being asked to set the background to 30 instead of 0.
    Leaving with sound at 3765
    Getting here with level at 3765                <---- NOW the video is actually playing, so it asks to set the background audio to 0.
    asking to set it to 0 in 1 second(s).
    Leaving with sound at 3765
    Getting here with level at -41740             <---- ... and I hit STOP, which generates a request to bring the background audio back to 30.
    asking to set it to 30 in 1 second(s).
    Leaving with sound at -41740
    I should probably replace the if/else on the video player page with a switch/case so the function ONLY gets called when playback actually stops and starts, and doesn't get triggered for every state change.  But I think I still have an error in here someplace...
    Many thanks to kglad for your help!
    Pete

  • Cat6k responds much slower to one SNMP RO string than another

    Not sure what to make of this, but I'm running into a 6509 that takes >90s to respond to queries from the Nagios check_ifstatus plugin
    when a particular SNMP RO string is used. It responds "normally" (within a few secs) if an alternate RO string is substituted in. Both strings are configured identically, according to the network staff. I don't have access to the full configs. I can't think of what might cause this kind of behavior. Any ideas on what to check for are much appreciated.

    This does sound strange, and it's not something I've heard before.  I would have to think that either there is some difference in the SNMP configuration (views applied, ACL, etc.) or perhaps the problematic string contains a '@' and the switch is evaluating it with community string indexing rules.
    Before any kind of troubleshooting can begin, you'd need to get the show ver and show run.  It may also be helpful to get a sniffer trace just to see if anything on the network might be throttling SNMP responses based on community string (would be strange, but you never know).  Seeing the switch's CPU utilization at each poll would be helpful, too.  Perhaps it's coincidental that one string appears to take longer than another.  Perhaps something else is happening on the switch that is driving up CPU utilization at the same time.

  • How to put a string from one Frame to another Frame?

    Dear all,
    How can I put a String from one Frame to another Frame?
    When the application started, the Frame 'WindowX' will be displayed. After you press the 'openButton', a whole new Frame (inputFrame) will be shown. In this Frame )(inputFrame) you can write a String in a TextField. After pressing the okButton, this String will be sent to the first Frame 'WindowX'.
    But does anyone know how to realize the sending part?
    I've tested this code on Win98 SE and JDK1.2.2.
    Hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

    I would like to do a program that have one string control and one string indicator, any character that I type in the string control in the same time it will be appear in another string (indicator). How can help me?

    Why not use an event
    Add a While Loop, inside the loop add the Event Sructure.
    Now in the event structure selecd the String Controls.value change event to
    react
    and the new value inside the event that you get,( connect to the String
    indicator box.

  • I can't import a table contains BLOB column  from one user to another user.

    1) I create two user both have connect role,and each has its own tablespace, DDL:
    create user d2zd identified by d2zd default tablespace d2zd quota unlimited on d2zd account unlock;
    grant connect to d2zd;
    create user d3zd identified by d3zd default tablespace d3zd quota unlimited on d3zd account unlock;
    grant connect to d3zd;
    2)Then enter oracle as d2zd and create a table contains BLOB column and insert data to the table.
    3) export d2zd as follow:
    exp d2zd/d2zd file=d2zd.dmp
    4) import to d3zd as follow:
    imp d3zd/d3zd fromuser=d2zd touser=d3zd file=d2zd.dmp
    the question is the table with BOLB colum can't be import,
    it says:have no privilege on tablespace d2zd.
    How can I import a table contains BLOB column from one user to another user?

    Hi - the reason for as our friend already told ist that a blob can be stored outside of the table segment, in another Tablespace, This is for performance reason.
    Sou you would need to have Quota on two tablespaces.
    the one which holds the table segment the other which holds the blob(segment).

    How do I reorganize my photos on iPad 2?  I need to move (not copy) photos from one album to another.  When I use the copy function to another album, and then try to delete an image from the original album, the system wants to delete the photos from all albums.  Please help.

    You can't do it directly on the iPad - the new album functionality basically only allows you to copy photos into those new albums, you can't move them. The way that I think of it as working is that you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you then delete the original photo on the iPad you therefore automatically delete all the pointers to it.
    If you want to re-organise your albums then you will need to do it on your computer and then sync those albums over to the iPad
