One Year Contract Question

First off a Quote:
Verizon may have only announced pricing on the iphone with a 2-year contract, but that doesn’t rule out speculation that the carrier will also offer a 1-year-contract option.  Most, if not all of, Verizon's smartphones on its Web site offer a shorter-term one-year contract option. Although these cost more than with 2-year contracts, the prices are still significantly lower than the full retail price.
Indeed, Verizon Spokeswoman Brenda Raney told FOX Business, "All of our phones have a one year option. There are no plans to change that for iPhone."
I went into tonight guessing it'd be 50/50 on whether verizon would include the one year option.  Unless i missed it, such an option wasn't included. Anyone believe they will add it on or near-after launch day? Or are they backpeddling on that above statement now? I was prepared to order it tonight and am comming away disappointed. I dislike two-year plans and normally take up one year plans to justify getting a newer smartphone every year.

At the moment you cannot sign a 1 year contract with Verizon inside Best Buy Mobile. This may change in the future. Its not a decision you make at store level those things are decided much higher up.

  • One Year Contract?

    Hello there,
I am 100% certain to be buying the next Dual Core Android phone that releases from Verizon.
    Here is my dilemma:
I want to buy it from Best Buy.
However, I will NOT buy it from Best Buy if I cannot sign a one year contract for it...
    So, here is my question:
Is it a Best Buy POLICY that says they cannot sell one year contracts, or is it each individual stores decision?
I never worked in mobile so I don't know haha.

  • One Year Contracts Ending

New rumor vzw is ending one year contracts on 04/17/2011

Time to jump ship after my contracts end if true.

To be honest just got the tbolt (again rumor) because verizon is going to end unlimited 4g plans during the summer an the next 4g phones dont look that appeling the Bionic is ok but dont like blur and the Charge well its Samsung we all know thier story. The only phone besides the tbolt that i will consider is a nexus phone but there is no word of any nexus phones are going to be released with Verizon.
You mean have it so you can watch Netflix on your phone? Are there phones that can do that now?... I agree, Samsung is terrible. The Thunderbolt looks like the only 4g phone that I would get anytime soon as well.

  • One year contract option?

Just curious if there will be a one year contract option for the iphone.

    GoodShepard wrote:
So, when I buy a new Verizon iPhone I will be paying for the phone which has already past half way of its product cycle. I will be paying for the phone which is about 7 months old when it is released. So verizon iPhone custometrs will be off of iphone release cycle by 6 months if I sign up for iPhone in Feb. However, If there is a one year contract option just like every other smart phone available now on VZW, it gives an option for the subscribers who want to change the phone every year.
However, they have already said that there WILL NOT be a 1 year contract option.

  • Why is one year contracts so expensive anymore?  ETF's simply do not jive with upgrade prices.

Ok so I was looking at the LG Octane, but was shocked at the prices for a one year upgrade.  The retail price is listed at $249.99.  The ETF is $175.  So if I subtract the "subsidized" amount of $175 from the $250, I should be buying this thing for less than $75.  Why is it almost $220 with a $50 online discount, making it almost $170?
The carriers for years have been saying that the ETF's were to protect themselves from people quiting early, and them losing the retail price of the phone.  It seems to me that they are getting closer to $345 for the LG octane with all the upfront price of the phone and the ETF fees, if someone was to quit early.
I also was told by several dealers that I can get this phone for FREE with a 2 year contract, but I can not find any similar reasonable deals on a one year contract.  Currently, if I buy a LG OCTANE on a one year contract, I am paying at least $100 more than the phone should be.
I have heard the excuse a few times that "it is for the carrier to recoup lost service revenue also", but again, that is not what the ETF's have been used for, for over 20 years.  It is also contrary to the excuses that they have said to CONGRESS to justify the need for ETF's.
So, please explain to me why the ETF's are this high, or why the cost of the phones are this high, when they were never meant to be used like this???????

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • Officially no one-year contract option

Just got a tweet from a Verizon spokeswoman who had previously said there'd be a one year option:
{edited for privacy}.......there will be month to month with no contract. Two yr but no one year.
    Ugh.

All of this is right from Verizon's website.

  • Verizon two year contract question

If you sign a new two year contract and then cancel it a week later and pay the early cancel fees.  Do you get to keep the phone or have to return it???

    Ok thanks.
Reason I ask is I'm grand fathered in with unlimited data. And not sure when they will sell it unlocked.  But my girlfriend has a free upgrade but is switching her plan soon to her bosses phone plan.
So was thinking she could use her upgrade and the the iPhone plus on
Preorder tomorrow.  Then in two weeks just cancel the plan. Because wouldn't it be the same as just buying it unlocked after cancel fees?

  • Membership Contract Question

Hi, I am a student interested in getting a Creative Cloud membership so I can access all the programs, but had a question regarding the 1 year full prepaid contract. After the year, do I still have to continue my contract? Or can I simply do one year contract and cancel after that year if necessary? Also does this apply to the month by month contract?

    Hi there
The prepaid and paid monthly annual plans automatically renew after 12 months and you'll receive an email approximately 30 days before the renewal date with details.  If you don't wish to renew you can contact us just prior to the renewal date to cancel.
    Kind regards
    Bev

  • Signed a 1-year contract and then AT&T raised price

I was going to cancel my service in December last year, but when I called to cancel, AT&T offered U200 for a certain rate for 12 months in exchange for me signing a contract for one-year.  So I agreed to keep AT&T U-Verse for 1 year and pay that set price. Subsequent to our agreement, AT&T raised the bill by ~$4 in February (yes, the notification was in the December bill but that bill was generated after I entered into the one-year contract). I had an online chat with customer care and I was told that it is AT&T's policy to apply the rate increase even to customers who are under a contract.  I sent a private message this past weekend but I have yet to hear back. It is absurd that AT&T thinks this is okay: 1) If I cancel the service before December this year, I have to pay a penalty.2) Yet AT&T can raise the rate at any time without my consent.3) If I don't like the rate increase, I can cancel the service but I still have to pay the penalty. Is anyone else having this same issue (i.e., those who have to pay a penalty if they were to cancel within the contract period, similar to how cell phone contracts work)?  Please share your experience here.  Thanks.

  • Official Page: Why No 1 Year Contract??

I have contacted multiple sources even gone to a few verizon stores and nobody knows why this phone isnt availavle for a 1 year contract price? Will it become available after the 10th? This phone is not worth buying and locking yourself in for 2 years. If anyone gets any new information Post here.

I was hoping for a one year contract, but since it wasn't offered, I went with the full retail price.  I still have my upgrade available and my contract will soon be over.  This will leave me with some flexibility should a newer iPhone appear in the next 20 months.
Only thing I slightly regret is ordering from the Apple site.  Even though it was a little less expensive, they don't ship overnight like Verizon does.  I think this could have something to do with the higher price on the Verizon site.

  • Early renewal before my 1 year contract is over

I have a one year contract that is over in November.  A long time ago some verizon rep. online told me that I could renew my contract two months early in September (I am in need of a new phone and cant afford full retail price). Can this be true?  Id love the help and feedback!

Yes,  1 year contracts become eligible for a subsidized phone upgrade at month 10 of the 12 month contract.  The exact day you will be able to upgrade is based on the day you started the contract.  You should be able to view your upgrade date by logging in to MyVerizon or you can call CS and ask.

Is it possible that you are using the same password for the old O2 Study and newer O2 Apple Base Station networks?
If so, Keychain Access is storing the old information about the old network and may be associating it with your AirPort Extreme settings based on the BSSID that William has mentioned.
If that's the case, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access and look for a listing with the old network name. Delete this entry. You may need to power down both the computer and the AirPort Extreme and restart them.

you can start out low and increase your data allowance as you need throughout the month, backdating it to the beginning of the billing cycle so you don't have overages; however, I found out the hard way that you cannot decrease your data allowance during the month and backdate it so you don't overpay for unused data.
what I do now is reset my data allowance to 2GB at the beginning of every bill cycle and then increase it if I get warnings that I'm going to go over... and I check it 3 days before my bill cycle ends to see if I think I might need to bump it up before the end of the bill cycle
it's annoying, but otherwise I end up paying thru the nose for overages or overpaying for data I don't use
BTW, I'm on the More Everything plan, which is the same plan you'll get unless you go Edge (where you pay the full price for the phone but don't get the 2-year commitment to it)

  • One Year Limited Warranty Question

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had to exercise their one year limited warranty with Apple. I won my iPhone 3G from work, and now I have discovered that it has a loose part in it near the earpiece. It sounds even WORSE when I take out the SIM card. I believe this is the cause of my random and sporadic problems where I'm prompted to power off the phone or when I'm using the phone no call it'll suddenly reboot.
Any ways, because it was a gift from work, do you guys think Apple will honour it?
If so, is it a straight-exchange over-the-counter or do I have to wait and what-not?
    Thanks to all that reply!

The written warranty states that an exchange under warranty will be a new or refurbished iPhone, so it will be either one. If you receive a refurbished iPhone for the exchange, you won't be able to tell any difference, and the exchange will remain under the same warranty.
