Online account is offline & cannot switch to local account

I've encountered some weird bug, where my user account cannot sync or has no connection - so any apps that require it like feedback, onedrive stay loading and crash. Tried to switch back to local and then sign in again and see if this would help but:

Hi, may I suggest you to do a new user, but not an administrator, and check if the problems are still there? If yes, you seem to have an Internet connection problem, for the first one. The second one (the screenshot you've post) may come from lost local
path of local account. I hope this helps.

    It is possbile to save the inserted data in this dialog screens and eliminate confirmation/verification screen in order to automate these procedures?

    Hi,
    This is a build feature in windows for security concern, I don’t think there is a method to eliminate this.

    Apple helped me make for my mom on an iPad fI had purchased for her but now it has switched to my account. How can I fix that.

    I don't know why your Apple ID is now being used on the iPad unless the store just created the ID but did not sign your mom into her own ID on the device. Try Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. If your ID is showing, tap on it and sign out, then sign in with your mother's ID.

  • POP account will not stay online.  Goes offline even after I "take account

    My POP account will not stay online, even when I "take" the account "online" via the mailbox drop-down in the menu bar. I don't think the ISP or the internet connection is the problem as I have three other mailboxes with the same ISP and they all work fine.
    Why might the POP account be failing to hold its online status and what can O do about it.

    Hi, and a warm welcome to the Forums!
    First I'd backup your whole Mail folder.
    Try dragging this file to the Desktop first, then logout/in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    Can drag back if it doesn't help.
    If that doesn't work try the .plists in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/
    In your home folder, try trashing this folder after quitting Mail...

  • Publish iCal Local Account Calendar on OS X Server

    I'd like to publish my iCal calendar (iCal>Calendar>Publish...>Publish on: A private server) on my OS X Server 10.6.7 ().
    Whenever I attempt to do this using my local account on tthe server, I get the error:
    http://username@domain_name/Home.ics is not a location that supports this request.
    I've tried all the obvious stuff: turning off the firewall, sanity checking the iCal service authentication settings, everything obvious. I believe that this is an authentication issue for local accounts on OS X Server. Because the server is set up as a standalone (i.e., no network accounts, all local accounts), Open Directory is turned off, and there's no Kerberos authentication that I'm aware of.
    Would someone please tell me how how to publish iCal calendars of local accounts on OS X Server?

    According to iCal Server Administration, OS X Server requires an Open Directory account, so you cannot publish your local account's iCal calendar.
    You can, however, use iCal itself and a modification of the OS X Hint "Publish iCal calendars with local WebDAV server" to publish local account calendars.
    0. Server Admin>Web>Sites Turn on the Web with an enabled host name. Make sure that WebDAV is enabled under Server Admin>Web>Sites>Options. Enable SSL with your server's certificate under Server Admin>Web>Sites>Security to ensure that your personal calendar information is SSL encrypted over the web.
    1. Append this directive to the end of the file /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf:
    Include /private/etc/apache2/other/*.conf
    and make sure that there's no conf file in ./other that you may not wish to load, such as httpd-userdir.conf. Move these to *.conf.original or some such if necessary.
    2. Create the file /private/etc/apache2/other/httpd-webdav.conf with the contents:
    # WebDAV configureation for Publishing local account iCal calendars
    #  Based in part on Mac OS X Hint "iPublish iCal calendars with local WebDAV server Apps"
    # http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20020912065811863
    # copied from /etc/apache2/sites/0000_any_443_myserver.conf
    # which is automatically generated by Server Admin>Web
    # No need to replicate these directives here, so comment out
    #<IfModule mod_dav.c>
    #       DAVLockDB "/var/run/davlocks/.davlock100"
    #       DAVMinTimeout 600
    #</IfModule>
    <IfModule mod_dav.c>
      <Directory "/Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav">
        DAV On
        AuthType Digest
        AuthName 'WebDAV'
        AuthDigestFile /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest
        AuthGroupFile /dev/null
    #    <LimitExcept GET HEAD OPTIONS>
          require valid-user
    #    </LimitExcept>
      </Directory>
    </IfModule>
    3. Create the apache htdigest authentication file:
    $ mkdir /private/etc/apache2/httpd
    $ chmod 0755 /private/etc/apache2/httpd
    $ touch /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest
    $ chmod 0644 /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest
    $ htdigest /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest WebDAV username
    Adding password for username in realm WebDAV.
    New password: md5 hashed password
    Re-type new password: md5 hashed password
    4. Create the WebDAV directory:
    $ mkdir /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav
    $ chown www:www /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav
    $ chmod 0755 /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav
    $ mkdir /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav/iCal
    $ chown www:www /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav/iCal
    $ chmod 0755 /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav/iCal
    and sanity check that the OS X Server davlocks directory /var/run/davlocks exists [it should!] and has www:www ownership with permissions 755 [it should!].
    5. Sanity check your apache config files:
    $ apachectl -t
    should yield "Syntax OK". Then Server Admin>Web>Stop and Start to restart your web server with the new configuration.
    5. Under your local account on OS X Server, iCal>Calendar>Publish... Publish on a private server with the URL:
    https://osxserver/webdav/iCal
    using OS X Server's local account username/password. Success will be reported with a URL of your calendar on the server.
    6. Under another client account from which you wish to subscript to your OS X Server local account's Calender, iCal>Calender>Subscribe... Enter the URL on OS X Server. You will be prompted for the htdigest name/password pair you created above -- enter this, not the username/password of your local account on OS X Server. Even though you should be protecting this channel with SSL and md5, don't reuse your username/password to access the WebDAV directory you created. You will now be subscribed to your local account's iCal Calendar residing on OS X Server.

    After upgrading my laptop to win 8.1, I am logged in as local user. When trying to log on with an online Microsoft account or as a new user, I get an error massage: "unfortunatky could not connect to Microsoft-service right now".
    Can anyone help please?

    Hi,
    To first log on with your Microsoft account, we need to make sure that your computer is connected to the internet properly.
    If there is any problem on connection, please update your network adapter driver from manufacture’s website.
    Second, please check the status of service “Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant” which control the logon event when you use Microsoft account. Make sure it can be started properly.
    Please also reset your password of Microsoft account in Live website to check the results.
    Also, please disconnect your Microsoft account when you login with the local account and then reconnect by following this article:
    Change Microsoft live to a local account in Windows 8.1

    Any further issue, please get back to me with your event log for further research.

  • Cannot access my sync account

    I cannot access my sync account on any computer. I have tried to get it to send me the password so I can access it, but I never get the e-mail. Although I attempt to set up a new account in the event that I did not use that e-mail to set up my account and it says it is already in use. So I cannot access my account and I cannot create a new account with my current e-mail. I cannot move forward or backward here. Is my only option to go back to IE?

    You are right. Sync's reset password feature is broken at the moment.
    I found a bug where the issue is being tracked and as soon as a fix is posted there I'll update this post. It looks like the server that sends the emails is offline or having some other sort of technical issue. I can't say for sure b/c I don't work for Mozilla.
    Anyway, even the Mozilla employees themselves are unable to get their password reset emails. So take comfort in knowing that you aren't the only one with this problem. :) As far as how soon you can expect a fix? I didn't see any timetable for that. I'll let you know if that changes.

  • One iMac cannot login to network accounts

    We have a small network with Lion (10.7.5) Server running on a Mac Pro and a variety of 8 iMacs and Mac minis that use the server for file sharing and network accounts. The client Macs are running a mix of Mountain Lion (10.8) and Mavericks (10.9). They have all 'joined' the 'Network Account Server' using the 'Login Options' section of the Users & Groups preference pane. And, except for one iMac, all the clients can log into network (or mobile) accounts from the server -- both ones that have previously been logged into on that machine and ones that haven't. However, one of the iMacs will not log into a network account. There are a few local accounts and logging into them is no problem. But every time we try to log into a network account on this iMac, the login dialogue just does the 'invalid login' shake. It seems not to check the login credentials with the server.
    As far as I can tell, this iMac is set up the same as all the others. It is certainly joined the Network Account Server and there is a green dot by the server name in the Users & Groups preference pane. I have removed and re-added the server from there a few times, and I've even reinstalled Mavericks on this iMac (it is running 10.9.2). I haven't been able to find anything that has helped to solve this problem. Does anyone know why one iMac would refuse to use the network logins from the server when the others work? Or what I can do to gain further information?
    Many thanks.

    On your client machine login screen, type in ">console" (without quotes) in the username field and hit enter. Try and login with your network account username and password. What error messages do you get in console?

  • Managing Computers with 10.5 Server, but NOT managing Local accounts?

    I'll try my best to be clear here - I'm new to 10.5 Server and a functioning Open Directory environment! (formerly used 10.3 Server and never had the OD working).
    Environment:
    School (K-8), with old iMac G3's (10.3.9), eMacs (10.4.11) and a smattering of Mini's and iMacs (10.5.x).
    Server:
    10.5 Server, OpenDirectory and DNS appear to be working perfectly.
    User Accounts:
    Staff members have accounts for logging into sharepoints.
    No one (yet!) has server based home directories except a couple for testing.
    On each computer there is a "staff" account and a "student" account.
    These are LOCAL accounts, and do NOT have same-named accounts on the Server.
    I have bound client computers to the Server by OpenDirector
    dsconfigldap -v -f -a servername.domain.org -n configname -u diradmin -p adminpass
    Now comes the trouble;
    I have added the computers to the Workgroup Manager computers list.
    I have applied computer preference settings for the Energy Saver preferences ONLY. THey appear to have worked (managed computers slept/shut-down/started up according to the managed preference).
    NOW comes the real problem;
    The "staff" account on the managed computers is denying access to most applications on the computer!
    Note: this "Staff" account is local ONLY, and is NOT a server-hosted account.
    I have NOT tried to manage the computer preferences for applications on these computers.
    I can resolve the problem by unbinding the computer from the OD Server - but I'd prefer not to do that. I just got them all bound! And, it screws up my migration plan TOWARDS server-hosted home directories.
    I have tried managing application prefs for a COMPUTER, only to have both the STaff and Student account lose ALL of their local-only application managment settings (all of a sudden, Students can open terminal, grading programs, etc).
    I am obviously missing something!
    At this point, I'd like to back up... to NOT having my Server interfereing with the local accounts until I'm further along mapping out my migration from local-only accounts with file sharing access to Server hosted accounts and server managed preferences.
    (I will also admit I'm a bit confused about when to manage USER preferences, vs when to use managed COMPUTER preferences.).
    Tips appreciated!

    Your last question - using managed user vs. computer preferences got my attention. Mostly, I use Group managed preferences. I do use computer preferences for a laptop cart, other than that I use group preferences. Perhaps your situation calls for managing users, but using group preferences allows me to change the settings for a bunch of people all at once rather than changing settings for each user.
    In any event, check all the managed preferences for your computer level settings. And since you're using a 10.5 server, you have to check the settings for clients that are running 10.4 and earlier as well as the settings for 10.5 and later clients, as they are different.
    At the user level, if you have an OD account and a local account with the same name, the local account will determine what the user can do - I honestly don't know if managed computer prefs will override local settings, but you should look into it. This could be your problem.
    At the very least, you should avoid "testing" with systems that folks are using if you want to avoid the frustration that you are now encountering (speaking from experience i.e. similar mistakes, not preaching).

  • Changing a local account to a mobile account

    Hello everyone.
    I have a local account on this computer and I want to test some sync settings. How can I make this local account a mobile account? I already have a mobile account that will create a new local account on new computers, but I want the local account on the computer I normally use to become my mobile account.
    Thanks

    I too was wondering how to do this...
    According to the Client Management white paper, (top of p68), "at first login the entire contents of the user's network home directory plus the contents of any local home directory with that user's name are merged"....
    the document lives here
    http://images.apple.com/education/docs/it/Apple-ClientManagementWhitePaper.pdf
    It doesn't go into any more detail....
    Can you try a fake account with some random data to see it it works (i.e. you don't want to nuke your local account if it doesn't work as described in this white paper)
    there are some more pdfs from apple here:

  • Delete local accounts created when logging into Active Directory?

    When a user logs into their Mac using their Active Directory credentials, a new local user folder is created that corresponds to their login name. But a new account doesn't show up in the System Preferences Accounts. So how do I go about deleting this local account? Can I simply delete their Users folder?
    Thanks.
    G4 (model M8839LL/A)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    AD does this with Windows, too. This is because the AD account is not the same as the local account. If you have a user with the username joeuser, and he has a local account named joeuser, he'll have a home directory in that name. If he logs into and AD system with the domain name ADDomain, there will then be an account with a name something like joeuser.ADDOMAIN, which, by definition, is not the same as the account joeuser. On a Windows box, at the same time as the joeuser.ADDOMAIN account is created the joeuser account will have its name changed; if the box's name is joe's_mac, the joeuser account will become joeuser.JOE'S_MAC. This kind of thing will apply only to users who have both local and domain accounts. Users who have only local accounts, such as jilluser, will not have their account name changed. Users who have only domain accounts, such as bobdomain, will not have their account name changed. Users will not notice any difference in the way they log in; they will log into their domain account, and see just what that account has access to, or will log into their local account, and see just what that local account has acces too, depending only on how they set the login box. They will never have to enter joeuser.ADDOMAIN, just joeuser... and the domain name in the proper place.
    If you delete the domain account, a new one will be automatically generated as soon as the user logs back in using a domain account. Any data stored in that account will be deleted when you delete the account.
