Online deployment with SDM
Hallo,
I have folloving problem with deploying SAPXITOOL SP14 L9.
When I started deploying there is a message that SAP WEB AS JAVA is currently stopped, but J2EE (dispatcher, server0 and SDM) is started. If SDM deploying part com.sap.aii.security.ws.proxy the SDM using online deploying.
Now there is a bad message:

Please check if "smbxi2db" is the JAVA CI host . If not maintain correct host in secstore.
Configtool-> Secure Store -> admin/host/<SID> (JAVA CI host, Not DB host)

All the deployments which are giving error is online deployment.All the services in the engine should be up n running for this deployment.Check if all the services are up and running.
Some problem is existing with the database also.Chck with database once.
Are you running anything with ATS,like aTS scripts or something.Because,it locks some threads during the execution.If at all u r running those scripts ,stop and rerun the deployments.

A simple question about deployment with SDM
I've deployted an EAR onto thte server with SDM. Now want to redeploy it. Should I undeploy the old one first, or can I simply depoy it again?

You can redeploy the Ear file through SDM by selecting the option:
"<b>update deployed SCAs/SDAs that have the same or lower component versions than the selected SCAs/SDAs</b>" after adding Ear file to deploy in deployment tab under "<b>Deployment Configuration</b>"

Problems deploying with SDM on SAP Netweaver Testdrive on Linux

I tried to deploy the System Analyzer (see SAP-Note 770702) for NW 04 on the SAP Netweaver Testdrive on Linux (Technology Preview SAP NetWeaver 04 - SAP Web Application Server on Linux and MaxDB).
When I try to deploy it with the RemoteGui, the GUI hangs after the step 2 ('show deployment proposals for SCAs/SDA's to be deployed'). There is no error in the logfiles.

Testdrive is a manipulated version that may miss some parts. It is definitely not intended for installing any additional SAP software nor tools on it.

Well, after of the last post where it commented that the possible solution would be to update Java to version 12, the issue continues.
Now, we have the following error after SAP recommended to deploy the file manually with SDM Tool, the file is lcrsaprfc.ear and show the following error:
Manifest attributes are missing or have badly formatted value:
attribute keylocation is missing
attribute keyname is missing
attribute keyvendor is missing
attribute keycounter is missing
Maybe can be a problem with the file?, format?, build?.

Web as 640 sp9 hangs by step "deploy via SDM/J2EE"

I tried to install the sp9 for many times - very frustrating - can anyone help please ?
Follwing products have been installed:
1. webas 640, sp3
2. webas 640, sp8
3. ep6 sp3
4. ep6 sp6
5. But now it struggles - I have problems with applying the <b>patch 9 to webas</b> , the steps until to "deploy online" were sucessfull, but the step <b>"deploy via SDM/J2EE" has an error</b>. In the SAP MMC the process SDM was yellow, and stopped. The file callSdmViaSapinst.log shows:

So I stopped the SDM with <i>stopserver</i>, started it again with start <i>sdm jstartup "mode=standalone"</i>
and restarted sapinst - now it worked until the component com.sap.rprof.remoteProfile , now I have the message:
<i>ERROR: NOT updated. The Deploy Service returned the following error: For detailed information see the log file of the Deploy Service. Exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4ConnectionException: Possible problem: no available running server node. Check your running servers.</i>
What now ? I stopped the server, restarted the sapinst from the beginning - the same result. Whats wrong ?

MartinI had this same SDM issue during an install. I simply stopped and started the instance. and then restarted the install.
However I would review the consiole logs and see why the server would not be running. If the server starts up and then dies it is probably something related to the java paramters. If you changed the paramters via configtool and you properly apply them, I would restart the instance and then kick of install again...
This process worked for me.

we have currently set up a Netweaver application server cluster on SLES10. The cluster is setup like this:
Two physical servers.
1 WebDispatcher
1 SCS
1 JavaCentral Instance with SDM
3 Dialog Instances.
We wanted to know if the SDM provides an online deployment possibility, in which the WebDispatcher recognizes which dialog instance is not available due to current deployment.
Does there have to be something configured in the SDM or WebDispatcher?
We want to ensure if we deploy something during runtime that the server handles this appropriately without timeouts or errors.

No the webdispatcher cannot be used by SDM to deploy software to other instances. The webdispatcher is used specifically to load balance HTTP, HTTPS and SMTP requests over different instances to one logical backend system.
This is not specific to SDM but the webdispatcher will poll the backend message server for specific information about the availability of all backend instances via the profile paraemeter wdisp/auto_refresh (default 120 seconds).
The information relayed from the message server includes the state of the instances. If the message server reports to the webdisp that a server is down it will be removed from the webdispatcher server pool.
Note: Dont set the wdisp/auto_refresh parameter too low as the webdispatcher uses this for receiving load balancing information as well as the state of the instances.

Deploy vid SDM/J2EE hanged while Installing NW04 EP6 SR1

I am installing NW04 EP6 SR1 installation on Windows 2003
After starting SAPInst the installation hangs at Deploy vid SDM/J2EE
at the log shows: PHASE 2006-11-15 17:07:39
Deploying SDAs (using SDM and SAP Java EE Engine).
But not going further from this stage, I tried restarting the Installation and even the J2EE and whole system too and no luck.

SDM Deployment Failed--SDM could not start the J2EE cluster on the DB Host

I am trying to deploy ESS packges in EP through SDM.But while deploying I am getting this error in SDM at the start itself:-
Error: An error occured while starting a cluster instance.

I have checked the CONFIGTOOl and the properties seem to be OK.
I tried SHUTTING DOWN all APPLICATION servers & Restarting the DEPLOYMENT,but it still Failed
Pls suggest.

Thnx for your reply.
I have stopped all Application servers and kept only the CI-DB instances running.Retried deploying the ESS packages but still getting the same error.
Have checked the Visual admin,it is not in SAFE mode,it working normally.
Have alos checked the CLUSTER Manager Property Values in both Visual Admin & Config Tool,they are alright.
About the Cluster Resources,can you pls specify what exactly do you mean by "Cluster Resources are running or not".
I think if the application servers are stopped,then the Cluster resources shudnt come into play right?? Correct me if I am wrong.
Kindly suggest what other steps I shud take.

ESS/MSS business packages "Deployed with Warning"
Hello All,
We are on NW04s SP10 on MS SQL server and Windows server. The Database and portal installations or on different machines. I installed the business packages ESS 1.0, MSS 1.0 and the XSS components - 600 using the JSPM.
After I deploy, I get the message<b> "Deployed with Warning"</b>
When I opened the log files and checked for errors, I found errors in deployment on these SDAs

Now, after this, when I log into the portal and see the MSS role, the links are all missing. I see only Overview and its worksets and pages and Reports and its worksets. Everything else is missing. The warning that I see is<b> "Linked object is unavailable"</b>
Could anyone please suggest me what could be wrong?

First of all I was not able to find if your backend is ERP 2004 or ERP 2005. It should be ERP 2005 if you want to user ESS 1.0 and MSS 1.0 BP
Please check in Content Administrator if you can locate these applications and test the same. If yes then you can ignore this warning. If No, in that case you have to redeploy XSS, ESS and MSS using SDM again.
The links in portal comes from your backend Area Page Customizing. To verify if the problem is with your Portal Business Package or with your backend customizing run your ESS applications using
http://<portal>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTESS
and MSS using
http://<portal>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTMSS
If you can see all the links correctly here, your backend customization is fine and there is a problem with your BP of ESS and MSS. So you will have to import the same again in the portal. However if you are not able to view the links in the page, then there is a problem with you Area Page Customization. You will need to check your config with the Client 000 configuration to find out the missing config.

Error in "Build Online Store with Oracle9i Web Services" sample
After downloading and installing the "Build Online Store with Oracle9i Web Services" example from "http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/web_services/content.html". I receive the following runtime error message at the ShowShippingMode.jsp page :
"http://www.zznet.ch:7777/WS-Demo/ShowProducts.jsp"
[SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Server; msg=]
To start the application go to "http://www.zznet.ch:7777/WS-Demo/Login.jsp".
What is wrong?Both. I deployed the application under the IAS (902) and a standalone (903)environment. The IAS (port 7777) an the standalone oc4j (port 8888) is running with the same error.
P.S. The server is down today for hardware technical reasons -
NWDS 7.0 deployement error with SDM

It seems that my SDM host is not correctly configured, when I try to deploy, the SDM host ip is not correct, I am thus getting this error:

Where can I change this configuration?
I've checked the sdmrepository.sdc, the defined host is correct (it's not a ip but a hostname).
We have user IPs and admin IPs thus two networks for the machine hosting those servers.
I don't know at which level to look: Message Server, Dispatcher or Network Config.

Did you add server IP and hostname in HOSTS file under C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc ?
If you did that then....
Deployment error occurs when deploying from IDE, the following message is displayed:
Server XXX did not accept login request as admin on port 50018
Details: ERROR: Could not establish connection to server XXX at port
50018: XXX
If you use the SDM remote GUI with the same SDM host and port, you can deploy successfully.
Solution
This problem can be fixed without any code changes just by adding a corresponding record to the file %WINDIR%/system32/drivers/etc/hosts on the IDE host, so that the remote host short name is known to the local host.

EP6 sp9 installation get stuck on "deploy via sdm/j2ee"
Hi,
I'm trying to install the ep6 SP9 after I have installed the WAS SP9 and upgrade it to SP13
Now, The installation get stuck at "deploy via sdm/j2ee" stage.
This result is the same after several attempts including shutdown and restrat the processes
There are not any errors on the installaion logs and everything looks fine
Does anybody has any idea what it wrong ?

This is the only error message I'm getting.
The installation is being freeze for many hours and there is not any CPU load.
So I think that this message error causing the installation to freeze.
Does anyone familier with that error ?
